You all saw it.
Vecna sending his demogorgons on all of you, and just as they were about to strike you down, they started levitating and snapped into all directions just like Max had when Vecna had done it to her, before crumbling down on the ground.
You breathed heavily, staring at the mangled Demogorgon in front of you, before lifting your gaze to see… Will standing there, his eyes turning from white to normal just in time for you to see it.
You didn’t move at first. You just stared at him, eyes wide, your hand shaking slightly as you brought it to your head, stroking across the wound you had gotten from that soldier hitting you with the back of his rifle. You didn’t really know what to think first, Will had been scared of turning out like Vecna because he kept haunting his mind all the time, and now… he had used Vecna’s powers on Demogorgons.
But despite that, you forced yourself to stand, as the first one from everyone. Everyone else just laid there, staring at Will wiping blood off his nose, and you had a hard time making yourself approaching him. It wasn’t that you were scared of him, you were rather in… awe? But not in a necessarily positive way. You were horrified, but not of him — of the situation.
“Will,” you mumbled as soon as you got near enough. His eyes flickered to you, and you reached out, taking the last few steps slightly faster as you cupped his face between your both hands. “Are you hurt?”
“No,” he muttered as an answer, glancing at his friends — and family — behind you. “Are they…”
“Everyone’s all right, because of you,” you reassured him, smiling before swiping at your temple with dried blood on it. “Well, if we count out the roughness of soldiers handling us but you had your part of that too.”
Will breathed out through his nose, looking down at his feet before leaning forward slightly, leaning his forehead against yours. “I was so scared when I saw him sending his Demogorgons after you.”
“I know,” you sighed, before looking at the portal to Upside Down and swallowed thickly. “Do you think he gave you these powers on purpose?”
He shook his head. “I… don’t think so. Or I don’t know. I… I’d rather not think about that right now. If… if he did, he did it because he wants me to be his follower if he’s taken out one day.”
You were afraid of that exact speculation too, to be honest. If Will would somehow get brainwashed to be Vecna’s follower, most of the gang wouldn’t be able to take him out. But you just sighed, wrapping your arms around him. “We’ll worry about that later. But for now, we will go back home and rest.”
You heard running steps and turned around just in time to see Joyce hurrying towards the two of you, almost crushing Will once she reached him. You couldn’t help but smile at the sight, and let your eyes wander around the base, of your friends standing up one by one — and despite Will’s powers giving you a slightly unsettling feeling, you also found yourself hoping it will be an advantage.
