Agents of Change

Summary:

"Did you know? Your hands are the agents of change. Every time I go to see movies, when a character in them, is in a middle of realising something about themselves, they look and their hands and say something like... 'What have I done?' or something like that. I wonder, what do you think, when you look, habitually I might add, at your hands like that?"

"I..."

"Don't bother! It's no fun when a character just reveals his motivations like that!... I'd rather guess."

~~~~
An Error-centric story about changing yourself I think. Oh and the Star Sanses don't exist in this one. Oh and Error's working with Dream now. Oh and Ink is morally flexible grey opportunist – otherwise a bitch (that I fucking love(I like my man morally grey/downright evil, aye?)) Kind of a mix between FGoD and other fics that are alike, but I add some stuff I like, and pretend like I know what I'm doing. Enjoy?
(Sitirro watched 'Therapist Plays Slay the Princess' and thought 'Wow this game is so cool, and the writing is so amazing, it lowkey inspires me to write my own story, that I'll may or may not abandon after the prologue. You know what? Fuck it let's do it!')
Chapter 1: Prologue
Notes:
What am I doing with my life–
Hi, I'm Sitirro, and this is my first work on Ao3! ... Well not really but the other one I miserably deleted after just a three days of existence, but I hope this one will at least survive until the next year! I'm cool with any feedback, really, so if you even just want to comment how shitty this fic is feel free to do so! I just want anything at all!!!
Well I hope you enjoy, and I hope I'll finish this!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Multiverse. A vast space filled with colourful worlds, ideas, and characters, that filled the vast emptiness of the creativity domain. Its begging was now just a speculation, that was whispered from one inhabitant to another, but it was just an incomplete picture, a puzzle, that the time shredded its colour, so no one could even tell, that it was one to begin with.
You're not part of this world, however. Let me show you a part of the solved puzzle, that will be called the 'beginning'.
The young Multiverse was stagnant. It was dull. Worlds were repetitive, devoid of any meaning, the characters, even if created from the beautiful original story, locked uniqueness, became a dull copy, of a copy of, a copy. The need of change became lost. The need of happiness became lost. The need of struggle became lost. Any values became nothing. The Multiverse had started rotting, and it would not, could not let itself die.
It needed entertainment. It needed change... It needed a challenge.
It knew what to do, after all it was not the first multiverse, that was made from the love of the Undertale. It shrunk itself to a finite size, then it slashed the space between the worlds into two domains, the Void and the Anti-Void. Then it was time for the rest of the aspects of life to part into two. Life and Death. Harmony and Chaos. Negativity and Positivity. Creation and Destruction.
It created a balance.
At the beginning it was fine, but the Multiverse quickly realised that it was not enough. It needed a push.
Corruption became the answer. It was an unfortunate part of life, that once was only saw as a bothersome, but inevitable errors of code, that was easily put down by the Protector, but the Multiverse finally found a fitting way to use them.
The Anti-Void became a birthing place for corruption. When there was too much corruption in the Anti-Void, the corruption would unleash on worlds, bringing destruction and despair, bothering the balance. Becoming a challenge to overcome.
It was a good start, but it was still not the end. After all, someone needed to guard the balance.
First one of its loyal workers, was the Protector himself. Gifted with the power of Creation, his role was to bring to life creative and interesting stories, and protecting the mission given by the Multiverse.
The guardians of Life and Death were an easy pick. With the help of Creator, the universe of gods was created. The Multiverse was not interested in this balance. Its state was not essential to the entertainment value.
The Multiverse nor Creator created guardians for the Harmony and Chaos balance. They both knew the mortals will manage to fill those two in the future.
Then it was time for balance of emotions. It was a tricky thing; Multiverse did not know this then. Mortals were such an irrational things. Just a little push in the wrong way would end in a catastrophic and irrevocable result. The emotions were a delicate thing, that pushed mortals to do things beyond its comprehension. Multiverse discovered it the hard way, when creating stage. After gifting the twin brothers their job and power, the Multiverse needed to create a conflict. Something to drift the brothers away, to create an imbalance in the emotional balance... Corruption. But not to corrupt the brothers, no. The corruption of their environment.
Multiverse quickly got to work. The Creator had formed a village nearby the tree. The villagers were not formed yet, their characters still waiting for development. Multiverse carefully put corruption in the code responsible for judgment and empathy, only leaving the egocentric characteristics behind. If it could, it would probably leave a bad taste on its tongue, but the Multiverse could not feel, and the end justified the means.
The Multiverse could feel that it was running out of time. Too quickly, way faster than its calculations. Wasting not even a minute, it took one of the Sanses in the Anti-Void, barely even giving him it's job. It was finally done. The Multiverse could feel that now it's inhabitants and their worlds will finally live.
With its last power, the Multiverse restarted itself.
The inhabitants finally felt alive. With the newfound coherence that emotions gave them, they started to aspire, miss things, get angry, even make immoral and heroic gestures. They could feel wrath of the consequences. The joy of life and dread for death, or perhaps even the opposite, filled with people with urgency, but also with purpose.
The once dull universes were finally filled with exciting stories to tell. One sad, one happy. The corruption attacked randomly never putting a rest mind to inhabitants. They were getting anxious, but also more curious. About not just the corruptions, but the world itself. Were they alone? What about the timelines? What's in the void? Is there a way to find out more? Go somewhere even deeper? Far, far away? Then it finally happened. A first contact between the universes happened.
If the Multiverse could, it would've sighed with relief. It knew that the rest would figure out itself. For now, it went to slumber, to regenerate itself, leaving the world to be not knowing yet, what consequences its own actions will lead to the world itself...
Notes:
I don't think I'll survive this Christmas break at this point–
This prologue is honestly pretty ass tbh, and short. The first chapter is better I think so I suggest to to think of them as a one chapter, but idk... I'll probably rewrite it after I'll have better grasp at the story I want to tell.
But seriously have like no exceptions for this. It will make me less stressed this way.
... Also I just realised that I can get hit by the Ao3 curse lmao. Man, better to stop with jaywalking now...
Chapter 2: The daily routine
Notes:
This chapter and the 'Prologue' are more of world building chapters, so there's not much of action or dialogue (which now after writing this chapter I know it's gonna be pain the ass, but fuck it. Gotta finally leave the comfort zone, am I right?), but it'll change later I promise! Though I won't lie, I probably will stick with the world building stuff, cuz I just feel safer doing that ok? XD
Also, disclaimer, sometimes I just use words or grammar, that I feel that it's right but it isn't, so be aware that it might not be the most correct fic on this platform, k? I've had also written most of it in, like, middle of the night so yeah XD
Enjoy?
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Error looked down at his hands. A weird habit, that occurred more and more over the years. He didn't know how it started, or why he did that, it just felt sort of... Right to do. He thoroughly examined every phalanx, to see perhaps a reason to his odd tendency, but he found nothing out of ordinary. His bones weren't in the best condition. Various signs of breaks, that didn't quite heal right, and many scars could be seen, not only on his hands, but also on his entire body. He didn't mind though, as it had shown that he was a skilled warrior, and ready to strike you down. His clothes weren't any better, but Error couldn't be bothered to change them. The skeleton probably would already stop wearing any clothes, if not for the little voice in his head, that probably was the left decency. Error was sure that it'll also go silent with time, like the other insignificant voices.
He looked around the Anti-Void in search of something to do, but as usual there was nothing in sight. Naturally. After all the Anti-Void was just a desert devoid of any life, time, and probably rest of the physical laws. Though the better term to describe these laws would be distorted. If there would happen to be people other than Error, they would think that the vast space is infinite, and the younger Error would probably agree with them, but this Error knew this place like back of his hand. It was more of a crumpled piece of paper, than a straight road. A place so folded on itself, that depending on where you would go, you'd end up in a completely different place. Heck, Error even knew the way to the 'ceiling'.
It was his home, purgatory, and haven combined. He wondered sometimes if this place was made for him, to punish him for some great evil he committed in his past life, but he quickly dismisses those thoughts, as they'd change nothing. Besides he suspected that actual purgatory wouldn't be so cozy, for the lack of better term, and bring more comfort than the outside world. Then again, it's not like Error ever knew much of the outside world. He was born in the Anti-Void. For the most part of his life it was the only thing he knew.
Anti-Void was a devourer. He seen it many times after bringing stray souls, that were left behind in the destroyed worlds, to the void. Codes shattering, and glitching out to nothingness, to become part of the Anti-Void. He wondered why it didn't happen to him. Perhaps he had been given mercy, or perhaps he was always part of the Anti-Void. There was no way of knowing, really. There was the only thing he knew for sure. The mercy of the Anti-Void wasn't never-ending; he had to pay the rent. And the rent he paid by destroying the world and bringing back the souls.
The Destroyer. That was the title his job had. Pretty accurate, if you asked him.
After figuring out how to use magic, and create portals, he started hearing it. The voices, echo of something bigger and older, telling him to do his job. They didn't specify what job exactly, but for some reason he knew what exactly he had to do. The purpose of his existence. Keeping the balance.
The Multiverse was finite. And the more the worlds in it grow, fuller it becomes. It cannot handle too many worlds. Do not let the Multiverse extinct. Destroy. Destroy it all.
It certainly left many questions of nature of Anti-Void and himself, but he had a job to do. At the beginning it was rather sloppy, figuring out how to use the strings, or how to shatter world in the most efficient way. It was hard work, but now Error could say that he downright mastered, the way of Destroyer. Unfortunately, because of his sloppy work at the beginning of his career, some of the inhabitants of worlds he destroyed managed to escape. He wasn't a brute, even if the death he inflicted in others wasn't the most painless and fearless death, he didn't wish for anyone to survive and having to live with the extinction of his people on his shoulder for the rest of his life. It was even sometimes too much on Error himself, and he was the one murdering people. Anyway, the escapees, run away to other universes, where they explained the situation and warned others about the big, bad, evil Destroyer. In the blink of an eye there's a whole division to get him, and everyone knows about his existence. Great.
Error stood up and started stretching out. He looked at the only furniture of notice, the blue beanbag he made many years (months, weeks? For all he knew it could be seconds!) ago. He noticed that even if the Anti-Void is a devourer, it sometimes leaves this untouched, or at least not eaten. Glitched definitely but otherwise left as it was. For example, the white stuff he used to fill in his bean, wasn't eaten, like the toy knife, or telephone the kid had. He experimented a lot with the things he took with him, and decided, that the most plausible theory is that Anti-Void eats things that were part of 'the story' of AUs. At first, he very often abused this knowledge but quickly became bored at the things he took with him, so he tossed most of them away.
As he was about to sit back again in his bean bag, something spoke in the faraway. He awaited as the echo came closer and closer, to finally hear it. Sometimes it was an echo of something he said in the past, that found itself tangled in the unlawful corridors of Anti-Void to finally go back to him, but most of the times...
"D-D-d-o-Oooo y-Y-ooU-UrR j-J-O-B!!1!"
"Alright, alright. Got it boss. "
An ancient voice made of many voices that were whispered in the Multiverse. Like a radio static, but all wrong. It was a reminder of his work, but also the only other voice here than his own. He wasn't sure what exactly this voice was. His own hallucination? The voice of the Anti-Void? Perhaps even the Multiverse itself? Or maybe even something bigger than it? No matter the answer, he had a job to do, and he has to do it.
Not wasting a moment, he opened a window to the AUs. He quickly flipped through the 'channels' looking for the world, that was unfortunate enough to touch the borders of the world. ... There it was. With a swift move of his hand, he quickly opened the world codes. It seemed like an unfinished FellTale like world, that was small enough to manage, and it also had no contact with the other alternatives. It seemed like an easy job.
The portal had quickly been made, and not even seconds later Error was in the copy. An odour of LV and death hit him hard, leaving a grimace on his face. When he left the Anti-Void for the first time, normal passage of time, and gravity hit him like a truck. He got so overwhelmed that he almost passed out, in the middle of the road. Now it was more bearable, but the overwhelming odour, and dirty environment left a tool on his tolerance of this place. He needed to do the deed fast.
After his senses get used to the place, he had hidden himself far away from the town people. From the shadows he sprung the webs, surgically almost, ending lives of the locals, so quickly, so that they didn't even realise they're dead. This AU had only Snowdin, so the job shouldn't be too hard.
In not even 10 minutes the town was clean. Destroyer moved to the next location. The guards and the civilians were easy to kill. Their LOVE wasn't too high, the world only just begun, so they had no chance to even realize what hit them. Honestly, he was so ready leave this place, the cold of snow started to bother him. In the Anti-Void concept like temperature doesn't really exist, so he wasn't accustomed to very high, or very low temperatures. Being barefoot didn't really help much either.
As he was in deep thought about the snow, he didn't realize that there was still one more monster left behind. His deep thinking was quickly interrupted by a shard of ice penetrating his shoulder. Familiarity and discomfort of pain overwritten (heh) his resentment towards the snow. His eyes localised his attacker. The attacker was trembling, scared of Error, or perhaps by his deed. Crap, skeleton thought, he should've been more cautious. Tears filled the eyes of the teenager, probably a Snowdrake, as he looked intensely for the next move, that Error would make.
"P-plea–"
He didn't have the chance to finish his plea, as the Destroyer had already dashed towards him and stabbed him with a red bone. He watched as life left the eyes of the poor kid, and dust slowly fell on his coat. He stood there for a moment, then took a look on his hands again. They were covered in dust, and blood that gravity pulled from his shoulder towards the end of his hand.
He looked and looked.
Error shook his head. There was no time wasting there just standing, he had a job to do. After checking that every inhabitant of the AU was dead, it was time for the clean-up. He tied his strings in various combinations, almost web-like, to hatch on as many points of codes as he could. This was the last part of job, he had to fold the universe in itself, for it to be swallowed by the Void. It could be a tricky thing, if there was anyone to stop him. The 'webbing' was time consuming and left Error the most vulnerable. He couldn't half-ass it too, for the universe could torn itself like paper, and cleaning off parts of the broken universe was very hard and inconvenient.
After pulling the strings he left the AU, and went straight to the neighbouring one, to check if the destructive process had been complete. Thankfully it was a complete success. His thoughts started drifting away again. The world he just destroyed was fairly negative one, as the last one and the last one. Come to think of it, lately the Creator was only just creating, if not downright copying, more dark and negative worlds.
"What the hell is Inky doing?"
He was staring to prepare the portal to leave, but...
"Watch out! It's the Destroyer!!!"
Error was starting to think that maybe it wasn't his day. He definitely needed to focus more. Another attack was thrown at him, but this time Destroyer didn't have any problem dodging it. But then came another and another. In the strike of dodging, Error didn't saw a bone that formed behind him. The attack hit hard, dealing more damage than Error wanted to. His HP was dropping, but not enough to stop him. As fast as he could, he formed strings from his eyes and swung one of the attackers in the air and then threw them on the ground. The second one was luckier, only dealing with glitched bones that sprung from the ground. Three other portals opened, and three different attacks flew from them towards Error. Normally the skeleton would easily dodge every single attack, but he found himself getting weaker and weaker. The AU felt like it was spiralling, and his magic didn't want to cooperate.
"Hahaha! Like that you freak of nature?! Never been poisoned before with the magic blocker, were you?!"
Why did this idiot just tell him that...? Nevertheless, the magic blocking poison was working, and it was working good and fast. Not even minutes later he was on his knees, glitching furiously. He could hear the approaching footsteps, followed by the cackle of one of the attackers.
"Boys, I think the bounty prize is ours."
The hand of attacker slowly but inevitably was coming towards Error. Was this the end of me? He thought, barely, as his clarity was getting clouded by the upcoming reboot. But the hand never came, instead he was greeted with a portal opening right under his feet.
"Oh my Stars, are you okay!?"
Before Error fell into the unforgiving clutches of the reboot induced unconsciousness, he registered three things. One, the person that spoke to him, even if their voice was shaky, it had a very soothing tone. Two, that person had many golden and yellow implements, making them look kind of like Christmas tree. And lastly, they had a very weird aura around them, like they had been blessed by the Multiverse itself.
There was no mistaking it. The person that stood before him was a guardian of a balance. They were like him.
Notes:
Woah that was crazy. I wonder, who could possibly be the mysterious person at the end? What a mysterious and completely not obvious plot twist! I guess we will find out in the next chapter, so stay tuned!
*I decided that I'll try apply a deadline for every next chapter. The deadline being a week! I think it's a reasonable time considering that the chapters probably will be around 1k-2k word long. So if a next chapter won't show up, feel free to attack me with sticks and stone me to death ;D
Chapter 3: Alliance
Summary:
Previously on the last chapter:
"There was no mistaking it. (...) They were like him"
Notes:
Woooh another chapter! Holy shit I think I'm hitting personal records with this fic. Fuck yeah! If it goes well this chapter will get published in this year, but it case it won't
!!!!Happy new year 2026!!!
Disclaimer for this chapter: There's a possibility that Error address Dre– I mean the mysterious person! by he/him, before the gender reveal. That'll be a mistake on my part gang. In Polish words have pronouns and stranger/human/skeleton/someone etc all have male pronouns so... My bad fellas XD
Enjoy?
(HI FUTURE SITIRRO HERE I FORGOT TO MENTION BUT THE BOLDED TEXT MEANS TO REPRESENT ERROR'S GLITCHY SPEECH BECAUSE I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO DO IT MORE AESTHETICALLY PLEASING BYE
NOW YOU CAN ENJOY!)
Chapter Text
A blissful unawareness. A dream filled with chocolate waterfalls and stars, with no unpleasant sensations touching his bones, a beautiful place far, far away from balance, and Multiverse, where there's no past, present, or future, and no annoying questions, that were left with no answer, because nobody bothered to explain things. A perfect world... That obviously was a dream.
The realization awoke him from the world of dreams to the cruel reality. Not yet aware of his surroundings, he slowly opened his eyes, as he tried to remember what happened prior to the reboot. But instead of the white 'celling' of Anti-Void he was met with golden eyes of an unknown skeleton. The memory hit him hard.
Work. Ambush. Poison. Portal. Guardian.
... Right, guardian, that was literally above him! Not wasting a second, he quickly moved away from the stranger, almost hitting him in the jaw, and took a fighting position ready to attack. What wasn't ready to attack, was his body, which hardly protested the sudden movement, by sending sharp pains everywhere. His knees hit the ground, but he still tried to maintain the stance. Fuck, he forgot about the poison.
"A-ah! Don't worry, I'm not trying to hurt you! Let's just... Calm down, and talk about it, okay!?"
"As if." Said Error ready to pull his strings and get rid of his potential enemy. But no blue thread came; instead came a painful reminder, that he got hit by a magic neutraliser. Fuck. How does even a thing like this work on him? As far as he knew, he was practically a god, shouldn't there be some sort of immunity to poisons too? He had never got hit by one, so he didn't know... Or did he? Come to think of, it's not above mortals to try defeat him with dirty tricks, so it would be weird for them not to try poison. Could it be the work of Ink? Did he make something weird again? Or even worse, was it the work of the Council? Those assho–
"Um... Sir? Ma'am? You're, uh, staring at me, and I won't lie, it starts to get me worried a little bit. Do you need healing?"
"No. ... And, uh, sir is fine."
Awkward silence filled the space between two of them. Error decided that it was good time to take a good look at his... Rescuer? Yeah, let's go with that. He had a golden eye light, and a crown in the same colour on his head. Their clothes were dirty and mostly covered in some filth. There were holes in their clothes, and a glove was missing from their left hand... Come to think of it, they didn't smell that good either. Wow. This guy was a total vagrant!... Wow, what an amazing conclusion, considering you look almost the same, Error!
They were sitting on their knees, their posture straight; it would perhaps look like they had some confidence if not for the ever moving eyes that looked everywhere at once, and the nervous clatter of phalanges, that got even louder and faster with every moment, that Error spent being quiet. Were they... Giving space Error, so he could feel, like he had upper hand here? Fine. He would take the bait, but firstly...
"You one of the Council's dogs?"
"W-what? Oh, you mean if work for the Council? Don't worry I'm not. In fact, I'm not even from the Omega Timeline! Besides the Council is awful! I mean who normal puts a bounty prize on people, that didn't have a chance to explain themselves!? And their whole army is so... shady! It's like the corruption personified, and nobody is doing anything, and..."
And they went on and on. It seemed like Goldie was a very talkative person under their semi-professional persona. They waved their hands in air clearly invested in what they were talking about. At least one was true, they weren't a big fan of Council, so that made two of them. Perhaps they wouldn't have to fight at all. Error carefully sat down on the ground. Fine, he'll trust the yellow weirdo for now, maybe he'll have something interesting to say.
"And don't get me started on–" As if on cue the stranger realised, that they were rambling too much, hence their face turned bright yellow, and their hands, once everywhere, quickly found their place on knees again.
"Sorry, I often talk too much–"
"Name?"
"Huh? Oh, right! I didn't introduce myself. My name is Dream, oh and sir is fine with me too. Sorry, that I made a portal under you, honestly, I'm not really that good in portal making, but I guess that was lucky for us two, huh? Haha... Uh. Right. I wanted to talk to you, because I believe you're like me. A guardian of balance."
Dream. Dream the guardian. Error thought over every guardian he knew. Guardian of Creativity, Ink, and guardian of Destruction, himself. Guardian of Life, and guardian of Death, Reaper and, well, Life. Harmony and Chaos didn't have any guardians in people, but some say, that the OT represents the Harmonic city (as if). That left Negativity – Nightmare, and... Well, I'll be damned, Error thought. The lost siblings, Nightmare's favourite kill to brag about, Dream himself stood, or well, sat before him. Honestly, he should've connected the dots way sooner.
He looked again at the skeleton sitting before him, he was... waiting for something. For what? ... Oh, Error didn't respond to him, did he? What he's supposed to say again? Every time characters on Undernovela met someone new they shook hands and say their name. Right, he should introduce himself too.
"Error."
"..."
"... Guardian of Destruction?"
"YES, I KNEW IT!!!" Dream jumped to a standing position, hands in the air in a winning gesture. Glitched skeleton who didn't expected the jumpscare, well, jumped away. The guardian of Positivity quickly regained his composure and sat back and apologized to Error.
"I'm so sorry, Error! It's just everyone was saying that you're just a crazy murderer, but I knew that couldn't be true! You never went to finished world, and even when you do destroy, you always make sure that those poor souls go out in peace, and in as minimum pain possible. If you really were just a crazy murderer, you could easily kill so many more people. Besides I've seen your fights with Ink, there was no mistaking it!"
"How... How long did you spy on me?"
"LONG." Error gulped when he heard that. Not only Dream saw him do his work, but also seen him fighting, and Error didn't even realize his presence. Fuck, the guy was good. Or maybe he was just getting senile with age...?
"...You didn't just teleport me, to tell me that. What do you want from me?"
Dream straightened his back and looked straight to his eyes, looking as composed and serious as he could. The mood quickly turned 180°, even Error found himself getting serious.
"No, I did not. The truth is I want to make a proposition to you. I want us to join forces. To help each other with restoring their balances."
"Ha! And why should I even trust you?"
"I don't say you have to trust me. At least not yet. But you and I both know something is up. Ink is making so many worlds that's starting to get suspicious, even for him, and every single one he makes is extremely negative. Nightmare and his gang are even more active than usual, and not even Council manages to keep up with them. Besides they're too reliant and trusting in Ink's judgement to see what's going on. No one sees the problem except for maybe us, and the longer we wait Ink and Nightmare's shenanigans one day will be too much even for us. So, I propose alliance (he said the thing!). To fight of the greater evil."
"Ha ha! Do you think I won't be able to handle them on my own!? Do you suggest I'm weak!?"
"No. You're strong. But as strong as you are, you won't be able to be in two places at the same time. My power can help you with fighting off the Council's bounty hunters, and... As much as I don't want to, I can also help you with destroying worlds. I could put the inhabitants in a state of peace and... Let them rest without fear. But I refuse to kill. I'm... Sorry, I won't be able to do it."
Error thought about it and thought. Dream was right, Ink and Nightmare really were going too far this time. It's like they were trying to do everything in their power to tip the balance. Why wouldn't they? They were unpredictable as fuck, always contraries with those two. It's as if they want to doom the Multiverse. But you know who doesn't want the end of it all? Error doesn't. Error was fine with Multiverse not exploding and having his emotions (mostly) intact. In fact, he liked to have breaks, watch TV and eat chocolate. And as much as he didn't want to admit that Dream was right, he really started to fall behind with his work, because of the notorious attacks on him, and Ink just straight up copying AUs. The alliance sounded like a good idea. Besides, the moment Dream would be useless, he could just leave him somewhere, never meet him again. It sounded like he had the upper hand here. There was only one problem though...
"How can I know that you won't be just a inconvenience? That instead of helping me, you'll just make my work harder."
"Well, I'm not that good on one versus one, but I'm great at hiding, so don't worry about me getting caught. I mean you never caught me, so..."
...Fuck, he was right.
"Oh, but don't fret, I have also this one thing! Come with me "
Dream stood up and looked around. Error did that too, this time slower, to prevent the great pain he felt last time. After Dream made sure, they're both standing and capable of going, he started walking towards the end of the ruins of the building they were in.
Come to think of it, Error never had a chance to look around the place they were in. At first it seemed to be ruined human city, but the stale air and no sky, quickly put down that theory. It was probably New Home, the capital of Underground, but far in the future. The buildings were desolated, and trash was everywhere. Only the green vines, that grew in the cracks of buildings, suggested that there was still life here. He tried to open codes of this world, but to no avail. Annoying as it was, it was also kind of interesting on how powerful this magic blocking poison seemed to be. He had to get his hands on one, one day. Maybe he would ask Dream to get him one? His glitched bones were very distinctive, but Dream was not. He just needed to change his clothes, maybe also clean his bones, and bum! He could easily go to MarketTale. Or at least he would send him on reconnaissance. Hell, why he didn't think of getting allies sooner, this sounded like a great deal! But then he remembered that he also would have to do something for them. Ugh. Did Dream told him what the wanted in exchange? Well, it was obvious what he wanted, but would he want more? Well even if he did, Error could easily get rid of him at any second so it didn't matter.
They stopped their walk in something that looked like some square of the city. Deep in his mind Error was thankful for that, because he started to get dizzy again. Shit, if he were in the Anti-Void the weird passage of time would already heal him. Before them was vast space and at the end of it was a big pile of trash. Nothing out of ordinary so far.
"So? What are we–" He was interrupted with the feeling of magic forming next to him. There was a flash of light, and bum, a bow was formed in Dream's hands. It was a beautiful bow, something out of legends, and the form Dream took to stretch the line of it was truly elegant. In the (glowing mind you!) bow there was already formed an arrow. The feeling arrow left on him reminded him of his strings. So, this was the chosen weapon of guardian of Positivity. An arrow and bow.
"Uh, Error?"
"Hmm?"
"Ah, sorry to interrupt you, but you got lost in thought again. It's really an often thing with you, huh?"
"... Anyway, what did you wanted to show me?"
"Do you see the sign with a goat on it?"
Error looked at the pile for a moment. Thankfully he was only nearsighted in his left eye, right being farsighted. After closing his left eye, and a moment of blind searching, he finally found a wooden sign Dream talked about.
"The eye of the goat is a hole. I'm gonna shoot through it."
"What? There's no way anyone could–"
Destroyer was quickly proven wrong when the swift of the wind announced that the arrow was already in air. It was incredibly fast, but Error's trained instincts (barely) managed to see it. As Dream told him, the arrow passed the hole, not even touching the sign.
"Pretty cool, right?"
"..."
"Error?" But skeleton said nothing, instead he looked on the ground for something. The thing he was looking for was a small stone, but big enough to be easily seen. Not wasting a second Error thrown the stone as far as he could in the air. Dream, who quickly understood assignment, shoot the stone. The pieces of it flew in the air in different directions. Error silently looked at Dream and vice versa, then more trials had begun. Small stones, big ones, few stones, or perhaps no stones at all just to see how great Dream's intuition was. He passed all the tests.
Error's hand lay on his jaw and then he put both of them on his hips. ... He wasn't sure. ...What? As trustworthy as Dream looked like, and his skills being great, he didn't know, if teamwork is what he wanted. Besides babysitting was not his thing...What kind of bullshit excuse is that? Okay, no, fuck it.
"What the..."
When stupid doubts filled his mind, he suddenly remembered one of the UnderNovela season. In that season Sin got a sidekick. The sidekick really liked by Error. He was a little clumsy and honestly at first, he seemed to be only there as a humour relief. But Sin didn't gave up on him. He trained him well, showed him how to survive in this place, and helped him out. The sidekick character grew to become a powerful ally always ready to help Sin. They were a good duo. Hell, they were so good that season, that their friendship even made Error, Sin biggest hater, kind of like the guy. Of course, stupid Sin got him killed because he stupidly chose his love for Tori instead of life of his best friend, that burned any resemblance of likeness this character possibly could have. But Error...
Error wasn't like Sin. He wasn't stupid like Sin; he could make it work! He could accomplish with Dream way much than Sin, because he was wayyy better that this dumbass. Dream will make for a perfect underling, he just needs a little training, and then? He'll finally have break! Dream will shoot any attack in his was, so he can easily fight with others and destroy those stupid copies once and for all. In fact he can already see Nightmare stupid look, after he see that not only, he also has now an underling, but the underling is also his brother that he "killed". A wide smug smile formed on Error face.
"Alright then. Welcome to the team. You will help me with my job, and I'll destroy the most negative worlds for you, how about that?" Dream breathed out a sigh of relief, gratefully smiling. He took out his hand ready to shake Error's. Destroyer hesitated for a moment but decided to shake his new teammate's hand. He needed to make some compromises after all.
The handshake was short but firm. A satisfying start to an alliance.
"Wait, I have something for you. Here." Dream took out from his inventory. At first Error didn't know what it was, but after a moment he finally recognised that the device was a phone, even though it looked more like a brick. Dream started to explain.
"This magical instrument mortals call a CELLULAR phone. It's an amazing device! You unlock its magic by clicking the right buttons with numbers in a combination, and voilà! You can communicate even in different worlds, amazing isn't it! The technology went really far in those 500 years, hasn't it?!"
There was so much wrong with that answer that Error didn't even know how to start unpacking it. The cellular phone didn't even have a screen. Maybe it was for the better. It seemed that he had a lot of teaching to do.
"That's... Great and all Dream, but I really have to go back to finish healing myself, and the poison hadn't stopped working. Is there anyway, that you could teleport me to my home?"
"A-ah... Haha... About that..."
Dream leaned closer to Error's "would be ear if he had one" and whispered something. A look of horror has painted itself on Destroyer's face.
"You mean to tell me... That you have no idea how to control to where you make portals, and the last portal was made by pure luck. Not a single clue?"
"... Precisely"
"...Motherfu–"
Error sighed. Then he looked down at his hands. There will be a lot of training Dream will have to endure, and he already knows it's going to be pain in the ass. But something about this journey... He clenched his fists... makes him feel hopeful about the future.
Oh boy. It seems that that those two will have fun waiting for Error's magic to come back.
Notes:
YES. I MANAGED TO FINISH IT BEFORE NEW YEAR HURRAH!!!
Uff that was a crazy year huh? Anyway I have started more or less making characters and their lore. I definitely have Ink ready. My sexy sexy villain. Not really. Actually I'm making him crazy drunk. But, hey one doesn't exclude the other am I right or am I right lads!?
Oh right! I should mention that I suck at fashion. Like amazingly so. Of there's not something exclusively said, characters probably have clothes canon to Underverse... Or nothing at all... But hey! That means you reader can imagine them some fashionable clothes! Good luck with that! (Though I think I have in mind the uniform for Council army but it may change. New year new me, aye?)
Also if the plot for now seems confusing or not full, I hope you can forgive me for that. I want the OT and Council to have their own chapter, because one of the major antagonists is there, as I want to have one chapter for Nightmare gang... Though I still don't know if I'm gonna make full chapters or just change point of view in middle of another one... Who knows!
Stay tuned for the next chapter
Chapter 4: NOT A CHAPTER!!!
Summary:
Just a little announcement.
Chapter Text
Ok, hi, hello, Sitirro here!
... Does anyone actually even read it or am I just talking to myself again???
First of all Happy New Year!!!🎊
Anyway sorry about the delay, but my glorious winter break unfortunately ended, and school is nuts...
Yeah, no. The first half is true, but the second is just a lazy bullshit, I literally do nothing all the time even in school. For those who don't know I'm a lazy bum. And I mean it in the most literal sense.
So the week for every chapter was a little too much of a challenge for a someone, who literally never does anything on time. But hey! At least it's the thought that counts, am I right lads or am I right!?
...
Right, so, about the story. I have already planned chapter 4 (3?), so the only thing left is to write it. I also know what the chapter 5 will look like... But the worst part still is before me... actually writing my thoughts down ugh.
...
Anyway I'll try my best to upload chapter 4 before weekend, hopefully I'll sit on it tomorrow. Hopefully.
As a form of apology (not really) here's some memes I'll go made rn.
Here's chapter 4 insight
And here's my struggles as a human being
from Imgflip Meme Generator
I feel like I'm short on memes brb
I AM SHORT ON MEMES FUCK
(Also please comment something anything I'd you're seeing this even a emoji is fine, or even call me piece of shit. I thrive of attention. )
Ok I'm no longer short on memes. Hurray:D
Stay tuned for the next chapter!
Chapter 5: Job
Summary:
Previously on the last chapter:
"I want us to join forces."
Notes:
YESSS I FINISHED THIS CHAPTER BEFORE WEEKEND I'M SO FUCKING AMAZING--
Sorry about the wait I genuinely forgot about this fic XD
Anyway just so you know I added some OCs to this chapter. Don't worry they aren't that much important to the lore. Just some side characters that I may or may not use in future... Tbh I really like them and I absolutely will use them in future (perhaps in some extras idk)
Also sorry if the convos feel a little robotic at times, like I'm a total loser and I genuinely can'y form any type of friendship like... at all. I'm also autistic so... I literally have no clue what I'm doing...
Enjoy?
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
It has been something along two weeks since Error met Dream. It was hard to tell with Anti-Void being a place between worlds, and all, but if Error had to guess, two weeks sounded reasonable.  Working with Dream was fine, honestly even better than he expected. Sure, his sidekick had few screw loose, and at times he was kind of annoying, if Error was honest, but overall, he did a good job.
Two weeks ago, while waiting on his power to return, Error and Dream talked about their powers (and some other unrelated things). Error also learned how bad Dream's knowledge about the world and technology was (Error also found out how weirdly knowledgeable he was, considering that most of his life was spent in the Anti-Void, not really leaving unless the job called), and other things like CHECK and INVENTORY. So, most of their time there, he spent on explaining how the “CELLULAR phones” (yes, the capital letters were necessary), worked. After his magic came back to him, and Dream, said their goodbyes, and he left. His CELLULAR phone, thankfully, didn’t became a food resource to Anti-Void, and who could’ve guessed? Apparently in place devoid of physic laws, the magical brick could actually work! Then again, phones (or any other communicative device, really) shouldn't work, but hey! Here they were.
In those past two weeks the phone ringed daily, or at least daily for the Positivity Guardian, who made himself a mission, to call Error every single morning(?) to say hello. For the Destroyer the time between each call felt different every time. Once it felt like hour passed, and the other time like a few days. Needless to say, it got a little on Error’s nerves, but it also felt oddly good(?) to know how much time passed in the Multiverse. They also worked together few times.
“j-J-00o-B!!1! ddddddd0" As the ominous voice rang out in the vast space, Error stood up and stretched his unused bones. Well talk about timing! After few of those stretches, he called Dream. After few rings, he finally answered the call.
Ah! Error, how nice of you to call! Let me guess, it’s the job again?
Nice of you to pick up —” Dream often forgot which button to click, what resulted in a lot of ended calls “— yeah, we got a job to do. I'm on my way.
Okay. I’ll be waiting back in our spot.”
Their spot being the alley to where Dream accidentally kidnapped Error to, Destroyer, with no problem, teleported there. The Positivity Gurdian was already waiting for him, a warm smile forming on his face.
“So where are we going today?”
We’ll see
With a swift move of his hand in air, the blue floating screen appeared. As he was searching for the collapsing universe, Dream closer to take a look. After a moment He finally found them universe that he was looking for.
This is the one. Can you feel the negativity coming from it?
“Unfortunately, yes. It seems that the inhabitants are living in so much pain... How could the Creator create such awful universes?”
“Who knows what’s in this sicko’s brain? With the amount of the fucked-up shit he created, it's a wonder that no one locked him up yet. Crazy bastard.”
“...Language.”
Even if Dream didn't like the insults and swears, from his face Error could tell that he did agree with him. The Multiverse was vast, but unfortunately the inhabitants were misinformed or simply didn't know, and those who knew where the rotten soldiers from Omega Timeline, that only cared for themselves, sometimes for their universe only. There was not a single soul that would stop Ink. Perhaps one day.
Anyway, you ready?
“... w-what? Right, of course, lead the way!”
Error opened the portal to the decaying universe. Dream followed shortly behind him. the universe was all wrong. The snow was wrong. The trees were wrong. The monsters were... so so wrong, it made even Error disturbed. The monsters if they still could be called that we are just a sickly amalgamation, that tried to shred itself apart, but it couldn't, the joined limbs wouldn't let it. The destroyer saw amalgamations before, but not like this one! The original ones, even if they were still disgusting, their code was still intact. They were meant to be. not this one. The amalgamation before him not only had its body parts stitched, but also its very own code was poorly mended together without a thought. Was the Creator even more sadistic than he thought? Come to think of it, the whole place was as if Ink just pulled apart the lines of code, and drunkenly, while wearing a blindfold, tried to put the pieces together. Error looked at Dream. His hands were trembling, and he himself barely could look at the monster, if it could still be called that. He loudly swallowed, but finally he calmed himself down. His stare was sad now, but firm.
“They are in so much pain. Was this place made, just to make them suffer?”
Error could share his theories about how the Creator probably worked with his brother, but he felt, that the question was one, that Dream didn't want answer for, just aloud thinking. Destroyer watched, as Positivity Guardian walked up to the amalgamation, and took its hand in his own. Error knew this part by his metaphorical heart now. The emotion magic, opposite of Nightmare’s. Every time now, they were on the figurative ‘clock’, Dream used his power to calm down the town folk. He put them in a state of dream, but not really. Euthanasia, he said. If they must die, then at least it will be a peaceful death, he said. It was moral, but also practical. Calm inhabitants meant that no one would try to escape, and that there would be no panic meaning no need to fight. His hands didn't feel that dirty this time.
“Don't worry, you don't have to be in pain now, just go to sleep.”
He imagined Dream with a gentle smile, the one he always used, before the death of each individual. Destroyer could see the abomination slowly calming down, and with a swift move of his thread, the only thing that was left of that monster was just a pile of dust, and after a moment there was nothing. The process of deletion of the world was quick; there wasn't much code to delete; most of it was just one pile of errors anyway. While destroying the Multiverse, Error started to think. A lot of the code looked like a poor imitation of Corruption. Did the person that made it try to create its own Corruption? He didn't like the implications. It seemed like Ink played more dangerous game than he suspected. But what it meant to the Multiverse? Or even worse, what it meant for Error?
“Error? You kind of dozed off for a minute there.”
Hmm?”
The Destroyer looked around. He must have gotten lost in thought again. Dream seemed to slowly getting used to it though.
Sorry. Anyway, let's head back. Do you want me to teleport you somewhere else or —”
Actually, I was thinking that maybe we could go somewhere together? You know, to get to know each other better. It could be fun!”
Error wasn't sure. Ugh not again. As his head was flooded with memories of his favorite show (an image of sidekick and Sin in a bar talking to each other while the latter mentored his younger apprentice), he changed his mind. Perhaps they won't go to the bar, but they could still go somewhere. His sidekick still needed a lot of Guidance. After all he yet had to become the best sidekick, the Multiverse had seen.
“Sure. Where do you want to go?”
Dream, who apparently didn't expect Error to agree, looked surprised at first, quickly gained his former excitement (or at least as much of it as someone can, after killing someone, even if in good cause).
“Actually, I've been practicing making portals, as you told me to, and by accident I found a very beautiful AU!”
Huh. You don't say. Can you make a portal to it?”
“Ha ha ha, well not yet... I asked the citizens though, they said that it's called UnderShore. I know you don't like going to the populated AUs, but trust me, it's totally worth it. Besides, the beach there is so vast that I'm sure we'll find someplace without anyone.”
If the citizens know about the name of their home, then it's probably in the hands of the OT regime. Are you sure it's safe?
“If we are far away from people, I think it will be safe. Besides you could use some fresh air.”
Asshole.”
The banter ended with Dream’s giggle and ‘Language!’. Error sighed but opened the portal anyway. He chose one of the copies of the original. Unfortunately, there were only three copies of UnderShore, meaning there was a high chance of them all being aware of the Multiverse. Hopefully no one will see them, and even if they will it could be a good chance to test out Dream’s battle abilities. Besides, Error could use a good fight, especially he’d enjoy kicking the smarts into those hunter idiots, that thought they could just poison THE Destroyer without any consequences. His fingers danced with excitement, and on his face formed a wicked expression. Realizing that the evil laugh and overall cartoonish look must’ve looked embarrassing, his face turned blue, and he coughed in his hand, perhaps to cough up the embarrassing behavior out of his body. It didn’t work.
In a matter of minutes, they both ended up on the beach. The sun was bright, quickly warming up the hot sand, and two skeletons that visited it. The beach itself was clean, with no people in sight, very different from the overpopulated tourist attractions you would see on TV (or in real life). The only noticeable not-sand particles were various mussels and most importantly seashells. Behind the beach was a big pine forest that stretched as far as the beach. The sea was in a beautiful shade of blue. Not really a super bright one, but also not necessarily super dark. In the water, Error could also see pink and small jellyfishes. Basically, it was a decent beach.
“Isn’t it beautiful?”
I guess so
“Come on, let’s take a walk.”
So, they did. They walked along the coast, in pleasant silence, admiring the AU. After a moment they decided to take off their shoes to feel the sand between their phalanges. The silence was broken by Dream.
“What do you usually do?”
“Huh?”
“Oh sorry, I mean, I thought since, you know, we work together and all, that, perhaps, we should know each other better. O-of course we don’t have to! I-I mean...”
As Dream went on, Error thought. Should he disclose information about himself? Dream already vocalized his distain towards their enemies, even before they worked together, and Error didn’t think that the Guardian would betray him. But what if he got kidnapped?! ... Nah, Error saw Dream's abilities of disappearing, besides Error was too great to get his sidekick kidnapped, he would easily defeat any potential kidnaper... Eh, why not?
“...And if you don’t want to that’s totally fi--”
TV”
“ W-what?”
I like to watch TV. You?”
“That’s cool! I like to help people--” Was that even a hobby? “--But I also like to visit new places. The Multiverse is really beautiful, if you ignore the evil stuff that’s happening. And Council. I wish they would stop with those silly “wanted” posters.”
You’re wanted by the Council? What did you do?”
“Haha... Funny story, I may or may not assaulted an officer...” What?! “But they absolutely deserved it! I was walking down the street, and I saw two of the OT soldiers screaming at someone, so I naturally went to see what’s going on. Those two... Two a-a— holes! tried to force recompensation on a mother and her son, just because she bumped into them! So, I obviously gave them a piece of my mind, but you know what they did?! They tried to hit the poor kid! I... may or may not lose my cool for a moment there and punch the guy into oblivion. He even lost his tooth. But it was worth it!”
Pfff--”
“Don’t laugh!” But the plead fell on deaf ears and soon enough they both were laughing. The rest of their journey was spent laughing and telling each other stories about ‘stupid’ Council. The sun slowly started fading away, and moments later it was completely dark. They decided to put on their shoes and go to the forest. They were quiet the whole road. Finally, they stopped and whispered to each other.
Can you feel them too?”
“Barely. Do they have some sort of magic blocker? Is as if they don’t feel at all.”
You have Ink the inventor to thank for that. Three... Two... Now.
Three arrows and a bunch of strings flew in the direction of the stalkers. Groans and swears could be heard from the same direction.
Crap! How did they knew we’re here?!
THREE OF OUR DOWN!
Doesn't matter! We attack anyway!”  As the voice in the bushes said that magic attacks flew in their direction. Error, on his thread, pulled himself up, and Dream dodged the attacks that flew in his way. There was a bone sneaking behind the Guardian of Positivity, but thankfully Error caught him in the air. As Dream yelped, the Destroyer with his other hand created another string, but this time to catch another bone that flew in his direction. He swung that bone and threw it at its owner. Another opponent went down. There were still two left though. His sidekick meanwhile cut himself free from the bindings, by using two daggers. Interesting, so the bow could also change to daggers, huh? Error will definitely have to inspect it later.
Be more aware of your surroundings Dream!”
“Right, sorry!”
Their talk was interrupted by loud beeping from the distance. One of the attackers, Alphys apparently, must’ve used her robots to attack. Unfortunately, the pine trees, even if they made great hiding spots, were also a big disadvantage for Error’s strings that only could spread straight ahead. Dream didn’t seem to know what the robots were capable of, as he got hit a few times by the lasers.
Dream! Shot them in the soul shaped thing on their chests! That’s their weak spot!
“But I don’t want to kill those small monsters!”
What did he mean by that...? Oh right, Dream, who didn’t seem to know anything about modern technology, obviously didn’t know what robots were! From what rock did he came from anyway?
Dream, for Toby’s sake, those are just flying pieces of scrap! Magic instruments, mortal devices remember?! Technology! Metal filled with electricity and magic!
“Oh!” Dream halted in the middle of a fight to look at Error with his excitement filled face. “So, they’re like a FLYING CELLULAR phones?!”
Yes!... I mean no! W-whatever, just shoot them before they fry you!
“Got it!”
This time Dream had shown no mercy towards the flying lasers. Every robot was shot effortlessly, hence Dream’s flawless aim. While the Guardian took on himself the Alphys, Error decided to go for the other stalker. When he came closer, he could finally identify their opponents. The uniform couldn't be mistaken for any other. This was OT’s army. Shame, he hoped for the assholes that attacked him last time. But ehh, OT’s dogs are fine too. From the look of it, this Sans (or Papyrus...), that had a one tooth loose, must’ve been the leader, since the number of stars on their chest... Corporal probably? Error wasn’t sure. The skeleton looked around, and when he finally spotted Destroyer, he formed a bone and put the cockiest pose Error had ever seen.
“You must be the infamous Destroyer, aye? I won’t lie you look more stupider than I thought.”
And you are?
“The name is Dzban, but you can call me your doom.”
Ugh another stupid idiot whose daddy got him a good spot in the army.”
Piece of shit--”
Corporal Nepotism, even if an asshole, had a card up in his sleeve. The bones he made flamed hot; the red fire on them was ready to burn anything in the way. Nice, Error thought, but not good enough. Kid had good enough magic skills, but techniques were lacking. Even his burning bones took a lot of HP, the nepo-baby was throwing them at everything without much thought. There was no fineness in his attacks. Probably good enough when dealing with your local rebel, or terrorist, but not with a multiversal threat that was Error. It wasn't hard to overpower Dzban.
“H-how!?”
It’s easy Mr. ‘your doom’, you can’t fight for shit, you just throw those bones of yours at anything, try using your brain for once, trust me it would do wonders. Stop relying so much on that ‘talent’ of yours and use some training for fuck’s sake. Multiverse above, I'm giving advice to an OT’s dog, where is this world going?” Maybe he was getting old after all.
“D-DOG!?”
“Just shut up Dzban...”
“Mecha!”
From the trees came Dream and before him, the Alphys (whose name is apparently Mecha), who was tangled in blue strings, that Dream probably found somewhere on the ground. After tossing those two together, they went for the other attackers, and they also ended up at the pile.
“I swear to you two when I free myself, I’m going to end both of you myself!”
“Huh?... Oh, wait I know you!” Dream said, after getting a better look at Corporal Nepotism. “Hey, Error, remember the guy, that was terrorizing that poor family I told you about? The one I hit so hard he lost a tooth? That’s the officer I hit!”
Ha! No way... The world sure is small, isn’t it?
“That’s how you lost your tooth? Seriously? By terrorizing family?” Said Mecha (the Alphys) irritated, but also as if she knew that. Her annoyed look Dzban felt even without seeing them.
“Do you seriously would rather believe those two terrorists over me?”
“Somehow, yeah—Actually, scratch that, absolutely yes.”
“You--”
Alright enough. Don’t worry I have nothing to gain from killing you, so now I'm gonna to send you to a dumpster where sooner or later some poor soul will find you all. I want you to tell your boss that he got defeated by Error, again, and next he better send someone actually competent. Understood?
“I--”
Doooon’t care.
Without letting losers get out a single word, he made a portal right under them. After checking, if they actually fell down into the dumpster, he closed the portal. He let out a big sight and turned around to face Dream, who looked really apologetic.
“Error, I’m so sorry--”
Seven outta ten
“Excuse me?”
That’s how I’m ranking your performance today. It’s honestly pretty good, but we gotta work on fighting with many magic patterns at the time. The magic instincts could also use some work... Oh, and you have to show me those daggers. Perhaps they also need some polishing to do--
“Aren’t you mad at me?”
Why would I be?
Why??? Because it was my fault! If I didn’t insist on outing, we wouldn’t have to fight, and the OT wouldn’t find out I work with you. Even when you told me that it may be dangerous, I still pushed it. I always do this, why can’t I just listen for once?
Hey, Dream, Dream, don’t break here on me, okay? Listen, I’m not qualified enough to make this conversation, but since you aren’t thinking clearly now – listen to me – the voice of reason.
“O-okay.”
Did I agree on the outing knowing the dangers that could bring?” Yes or no.
“Y-yes, but...!”
No butts, heh, just yes or no. Did we have a fun time on the beach? Before you ask, I did.
“Yeah...”
Have you called the unit on us? Did you plan the whole action?
“Of course not!”
See? Then why are you blaming yourself? It could’ve happened anywhere; besides it was time to OT to find out anyway. And, hey, we have to get used to it, who knows what will happen at the next outing?
“You mean you still want to hang out with me?”
Well duh, I told you I had fun. We still have a lot to learn, don't we? Mentoring is easier when you know your pupil well, even if the pupil is your dummy sidekick.
“Haha, I guess you're right. What a great teach you are Error~”
Damn straight I'm a great teacher. I’m Error, the great Destroyer that loves fighting, chocolate and good soap operas!... And you're not so bad yourself Dream.
“Thanks Error... I mean it.”
The former frown was quickly replaced by a warm smile – Dream’s iconic expression. Good, Error thought, this smile fits you the best. The Guardian seemed to remember something, as he bumped his closed fist onto his second hand. He looked through his pockets and finally he pulled out something that looked like a pin.
What’s that?
“I completely forgot about it! When I was taking the unconscious soldiers, I found this on them. I think it's the thing that blocked my emotion-altering powers... A magic blocker that strong, sounds familiar, doesn't it? I think that the person who made that awful poison is also responsible for those pins. What do you think?”
Error looked at the pins carefully. At first glance they were just black round pins with the OT logo on it, but if you looked at the pin in different angles, thanks to the full moon brightnesses, there was no mistaking it. The rainbow shine couldn’t be mistaken. It was Creator’s magic.
Dream. I think you just made our job so much easier.
“I did??? Oh Stars, I’m so glad...”
Come on, we gotta figure out how exactly those pins work.
As Error said, he opened a portal to Dream’s hideout. They talked about the possibilities of the mysterious pin and as the portal closed the last thing that could be heard was...
“By the way, what’s TV anyway?...”
And that’s our heroes finished their day...
...
Not knowing that a certain creep was watching them the whole fight. Said creep jumped down from the tree and took a large sip from a hipflask. His mismatched eye lights calmly scanned the whole place.
“Seriously? Creep? Come on narrator you know me better than that”
...The stupid drunk said to the air, thinking that he was talking to something.
“Eh whatever. Be a bitch for all I care. Nice Error, you found yourself a puppy. Nice, nice, nice, very nice... Wait, what does that mean to me...? Oh, right! It's time for phase two of the plan. Or was it three? Eh, it doesn’t matter. Let’s see how you’ll handle with it Glitchy~”
The stranger disappeared in a puddle of ink.
Notes:
When I said I liked Dzban and Mecha a little too much I meant it. Like the second I gave them names a whole lore appeared. I also want to use their characters later in the story to show OT from a citizen view of the country under the corrupted military regime. Dzban being from the family better situated - that's closer to the government, and Mecha being from the 'normal' family your usual joe so to say. Bte here's some additional info about both of the characters.
Dzban (20)
-Born in OT, son of some Sans and Toriel (hence the burning bones). His family is close with government. Uncle Papyrus, a big fish so to say, got him a spot in a military with a nice rank.
-Naturally talented - cuz of that he never really worked on anything so the lost fight with Error brought some clarity onto the guy
-The corruption. He's an asshole, he uses his power in all wrong ways. But has some redeeming qualities.
-Stuck with Mecha. They basically became a team, cuz their superiors are always pairing them together.
-His brain is absolutely soaked in propaganda. He can't comprehend that it's wrong.
Mecha (22)
-Was orphaned at very young age, her documents aren't the clearest, and because of that she couldn't take any normal job.
-Works as a soldier just because it's the only job that will give her a stable income, and perhaps one day she'll be able to have a proper documentation.
-Wanted to be an engineer instead.
-One of the few 'fair' solders. Always tries to help civilians.
-Has to babysit Dzban a lot. The only one that can keep up with his shit (barely)
-See the Omega Timeline for what it is. She absolutely hates it.
Yeah. As I sad before I don't intend to make them second protagonists or whatevs just to put them once or twice... And perhaps for that one extra,,,
Anywho did I mention that I fuckin' love Ink? Especially evil ones? I even made a gingerbread saying that...
I'm forgetting something, I think--
Stay tuned for the next chapter!
