Summary:

Trevor Garcia worked most of his life at the famous Walt Disney World as a simple chef at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. One day, he comes across an unexpected figure, and after finding out that cartoon characters have become real through some magic portal powered by science, he's offered a job as a caretaker! However, he soon finds out the job comes with a lot of responsibilities and a lot of drama! He also soon finds out that a particular Disney princess seems to be attracted to him! This is the Disney Historian, and his daily life at the parks! Defending his allies from evil, and soon, a bigger plot than anyone will ever imagine...

Chapter 1: A Job Offer of a Lifetime!

Chapter Text

Ring! Ring! Ring! That was the sound of an alarm ringing through the bedroom as our protagonist slammed his hand against his phone, trying to silence the sound that kept annoying him. After finally getting frustrated with his failure to silence it, he grabbed his phone and turned it off, throwing it on his bed as he managed to get himself up and out of bed.

It was a Saturday morning, and he had successfully gotten the day off this week for a trip to his work place, Walt Disney World. Now unfortunately, he didn’t work at the attractions, but actually at one of the restaurants in one of the most popular and luxurious hotels on property, The Yacht and Beach Club! He had to do a lot of begging to his boss, but fortunately, he had some sway due to his good work performance. While getting breakfast ready, he got a call from someone he didn’t expect to hear from this early in the day.

“Hello?” Answering his phone very plainly and confused as to why this person was calling this morning.

“Hey, Trevor. I heard you’re going to the magic kingdom today!” A voice spoke over the phone as the man groaned.

“Yes, Reggie, I’m going today. Why did you call me so early in the morning?”

“Is that anyway to greet your best friend?”

“It’s 9 in the morning. I haven’t even finished breakfast and you’re calling me. Let me guess, you got the day off.”

“Uh…why else would I call you dumbass?”

“Fair point. Then when are we meeting?”

“Does 11 o’clock sound good?”

“Sure does. I’ll see you at the castle.”

After hanging up the phone, Trevor got himself some breakfast, his usual pancakes and protein shake. Getting dressed in something warm like a hoodie and loose jeans, he finally got his shoes on and went out the door, not knowing that what awaited him would change him forever.

At the magic kingdom…

“How long is he going to take?!” Reggie exclaimed as he looked at his watch while waiting by the castle entrance. Suddenly, he saw a man running straight towards him, stopping right in front of him out of breath. He left a trail of smoke in his wake! “Jeez dude! Why are you always so late?!”

“Blame the bus! That’s the only other transportation I got!” Trevor tried to reason as Reggie brushed it off, beginning his walk towards Tomorrowland. “Forget it, let’s just go. We got to get in line before we have to wait even longer!”

“Alright, calm down!” The boy sighed as he followed his friend towards space mountain.

While they were walking around the park, Trevor bumped into someone, but before he could apologize, the person had already walked off, and with it, a reply with a voice that was all too familiar with him. “I’m sorry, I should’ve watched where I was going.”

Trevor froze as he violently turned to meet the direction of the voice, but for some reason, they disappeared. “What the hell?” He kept looking everywhere, and for some reason, he couldn’t see them anymore.

“Hey. You good?” Reggie snapped him out of it as people began to speak around them.

“Did you see that?! That was Elsa!”

“Yeah, she was so lifelike! They must have improved their costumes!”

Trevor turned to Reggie as he noticed people were talking about Elsa. “What are they talking about?”

“I have no idea.” He responded as a kid walked up to him, seemingly excited by the sight. “Hey mister! Did you see Elsa?”

“Elsa? I thought she was over in fantasy land?” Reggie said to Trevor as he too was confused. “Elsa doesn’t walk around here kid. She’s over in fantasy land.”

“But I saw her! My mom saw her too! She was so lifelike! She even sounded just like her!” The kid answered, her voice with full confidence that it was Elsa.

“Am I missing something?” Trevor asked Reggie as he shrugged it off. “It’s probably some stunt by the coordinators or something.”

As Trevor and Reggie were about to walk off, two men approached them, with both men wearing security uniforms. “Excuse me, are you Trevor Garcia?”

Trevor turned his attention towards the security guards. “That’s me…?”

“We need you to come with us.” They asked him as Reggie went into defense mode. “I’m sure this is a mistake. He’s done nothing wrong.”

“There is no mistake. We’re here for him.” The security guard answered firmly. “I’ll need you to step aside, and we need you to come with us.”

“Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s nothing.” Trevor reassured as Reggie backed off. “Alright, take me to where we need to go I guess.”

Later, at the Team Disney Buildng…

“And you’re sure you got the right person?” A man asked as another man was patiently waiting with him in a secret conference room.

“No one else met the criteria.” The other man began, “He fits all of them. He has all the knowledge of all Disney Films and TV shows. There’s no one else more perfect for the position.” He paused before continuing, “Even better, his background will work well for certain connections.” He stopped speaking as the guards opened the door revealing the two men in suits. “Looks like our candidate has arrived.”

Trevor was quickly put into the room before the two guards showed themselves out, leaving him with the two mysterious men. “H-Hello. May I ask why I’m-“ The boy quickly realized who these people were. “Wait! You’re….BOB IGER AND JOSH D’AMARO?!”

“Correct!” Iger said with a happy tone, while Josh was more interested in how ecstatic Iger was. “You’re probably confused as to why two random security guards escorted you here?”

“Aren’t we in the Team Disney Building?” He asked as Iger nodded in agreement. “Why don’t I recognize this room?”

“Because unlike the one room you’ve been in for that corporate meeting, this is a special room. We have some news we’d like to share with you, and a job offer.”

“A job offer?”

“Have you noticed anything different about the park recently? Does anything stand out?”

“Well, if you have to ask, some kid thought he saw the real Elsa. In fact, I think a whole bunch of people did.”

Iger chuckled as Josh remained silent. “Well, what if I were to tell you that this was true?”

Trevor looked at the CEO dead in the eyes before speaking. “What? What do you mean?”

“What if we were to tell you that the Elsa they saw was real? That the Elsa everyone saw was indeed the character known as Elsa.”

Trevor, trying to process his response, began laughing as the two executive officers looked at each other with concern. “Y-You guys sure are funny! Pulling a prank on me!”

He continued to laugh until it became evident that both men were staring at him confused. “T-This is a joke right?”

“I’m afraid not. What he’s saying is true.” Josh answered as Trevor began to pinch his nose. “I even approved of this project.”

“Project?” Trevor asked as Iger spoke up.

“Project Dreamlight. A new revolution in the way our guests experience our characters in real life.” Iger began as Trevor listened closely. “Our brilliant engineers have created a device that has allowed us to create a portal, if you will, between our world and the world of Disney. With this device, many of our intellectual properties have since migrated to our world and reside in a mansion made just for them!”

“Wait! Wait, let me just…” Trevor tried to process what he just heard. “Okay, let me get this straight. You’re telling me that not only did you create a wormhole. A FREAKIN WORMHOLE! BUT YOU SOMEHOW BROUGHT CHARACTERS INTO THE HUMAN DIMENSION??!!”

“Yeah, that sounds about right.” Iger answered, much to the dismay of D’Amaro, who facepalmed. “I told you he wouldn’t take this seriously.”

“B-But it’s just not possible! I mean sure, I’m more than thrilled, but do you understand what you’ve created?! A wormhole! A scientific possibility that shouldn’t even be ready for hundreds of years!” Trevor said as he tried  to reason this sudden development. “Did anyone else react this way?!”

“Some of the employees who were on-site, yes.” D’Amaro admitted. “They saw Max and Roxane. Any millennial would do the same.”

“That’s besides the point, what about the characters? Did you explain to them where they were?”

“Yes. We did. Elsa and Mulan were some of the more calmer individuals processing their surroundings. Sure we had to defrost a fountain, but everyone managed to get along with it quite well!”

“My god…” Trevor couldn’t begin to believe what he was hearing. It was like a kid's dream come true! But why was he here? Why did they want him here? “Okay, if what you are saying is true, then why do you want me?”

Iger chuckled as Trevor looked at him confused and concerned. “You see, we built a mansion as I had said before, for all of the characters residing there. However, there are a LOT of them. I mean, we’re talking kids, adults, animals, cars!” Trevor looked flabbergasted as he said that last part. “So, in short, we really need a babysitter. A caretaker to watch the characters' well being, and to ensure their time here is well spent and safe.”

Trevor was still standing there, completely blown away. “You want me…to be the caretaker for the Disney animated universe?”

“That is correct, yes.” Iger answered.

Trevor thought of it for a moment, while D’Amaro spoke in the background. “You’re one of the only candidates that Iger seems hellbent on hiring. You’re the self proclaimed historian that’s seen all the films, watched most of the tv shows, and has extensive knowledge of our parks and history. He says you’re fit for the job, and that in his own words, it would give you some peace to work with Disney characters.”

Trevor’s head perked up when he said that. Peace? There could be peace for once in his life? “You’re sure I’m the one for the job?”

“You’re the self proclaimed historian. If I were to give you the official title, it would be here and now.” Iger affirmed to him. “If you take the job, you’ll experience something that will change the way we see things forever. You’ll be a part of something magnificent. Are you in? Or out?”

Trevor stood there in deep thought. A job that would change his life forever. Would he be able to have peace? He was willing to do whatever it took for peace. His decision was made. “I’m in.”

“Good! Then let’s not waste anymore time!” Iger began as they led him out of the room and towards the entrance of the building. “You’re gonna love this new job! However I just have one question.”

“Yes?”

“How do you feel about roommates?”
