Chapter Text
Jing Yuan heard his alarm go off letting the beeping sound echo across his room before moving his hand from under the covers to turn it off. He laid in his bed contemplating how much time he had before he would actually have to get up and start his day. Just as he decided to sleep for a few minutes more he heard his phone go off with a ding signaling that he had received a message.
He slowly opened his eyes, blinking away the tiredness that still lingered and just stared in a slight daze at his ceiling. He turned his head towards his bedside table and watched as his phone lit up and another ding came through.
He sat up in his bed letting out a small yawn as he did so while reaching over to grab his phone and check who was texting him.
Senior Jingliu
I hope you are already awake and preparing
yourself.
Myself and Baiheng will be there soon.
Jing yuan just let out a sigh as he began getting out of bed and heading towards the bathroom. He let out another yawn as he placed his phone on the bathroom counter and began brushing his teeth.
He went through the rest of his morning routine, heading back to his bedroom to put on his uniform, and then went downstairs to grab something to eat. He had just finished giving his cat mimi food when he heard a knock at his door. Already knowing who would be outside he quickly grabbed an apple and his school bag before heading towards the door.
He opened the door to find his seniors Jingliu and Baiheng standing there chatting. Though the exchange was more Baiheng talking while Jingliu gave slightly different facial expressions.
“Ah Jing Yuanie you're here!” Baiheng said as she finally noticed him. She went for a hug practically squeezing the air out of him and then ruffling his hair. “You ready for your first day?” she said cheerfully.
Jing Yuan attempted to fix his hair as he answered, “Yea I miss being able to sleep in though…”.
“Not like you were sleeping much with Jingliu being your tutor” she snickers while eyeing Jingliu. Jingliu just gives an unimpressed stare before speaking, “Perhaps if you didn't spend all your time playing with mimi and actually focused on your studies I would be more lenient on you.”
Jing Yuan pouts a lil before replying, “Not my fault Mimi comes to play with me”
“Jing Yuanie you and I both know you indulge that cat to bits” Baiheng cheerly says before grabbing the younger boy and pulling him to walk in between her and Jingliu. The trio walked to school discussing Jing Yuan’s summer with Jingliu and Baiheng’s travels. They reached the School Grounds and bid each other farewell. Baiheng had a student council meeting to attend and Jingliu used the time between the start of classes to practice chess.
Jing Yuan decided that since both of his eyes had vanished now would be a good time to go to class and take a nap. Fu Xuan usually woke him up before class started anyway so it’s not like it would affect his studies in any way. He reached his class and went to his seat getting into a comfortable position before taking a nap.
A sudden smack on his head awoke him from his peaceful slumber. “Ow Fu Xuan, do you have to hit so hard everytime.” Jing Yuan whined while looking at the imposing figure of Fu Xuan.
“Anything less and that thick head of yours wouldn't even feel it” she said while taking her seat next to him. “You know on the way here I did a fortune for the day and it came out as auspicious perhaps something favorable will happen.”
Jing Yuan pondered on what good thing could happen during the beginning of the school year. As the bell rang and everyone sat in their seats the teacher started calling the class to attention.
“Now class as sophomores I’m sure you’ve all gotten to know each other and form groups of friends but we do have a new transfer student so please make sure to make them feel welcome.” The teacher motioned to the door and it opened revealing the student.
He had a tall frame and looked like he worked out regularly from the way he filled out his uniform. His black hair was cut just below his ears and spiked out while his bangs only covered one eye very slightly. His eyes were a fiery red that felt like they could look through you.
“Please introduce yourself to the class” The teacher said to the new student. He gave her a slight glance before speaking. “My name is Ren.”
Immediately Jing Yuan was smitten.
