Chapter Text
Finn sat in Princess Bubblegum’s lab, twirling his sword by the handle while the tip rested on the floor. It spun around and around, the tip eventually drilling a tiny depression underneath it.
The princess stood in front of a large projector screen in her lab coat and was wearing her “smart person” glasses, as Finn called them, lecturing the hero on things so far outside of his comprehension as to be on another planet.
All Finn could do was just nod and smile to the best of his ability until she was finished. Once Bubblegum began lecturing, nothing short of physical violence would stop it, and even that wasn’t a guarantee as several of her adversaries had discovered to their extreme detriment.
“…and once I compared the predicted mineral and metal dispersion, I was able to filter the data through previous surveys and discovered an anomaly. Isn’t that exciting?”
Finn sighed. “Yeah, sounds pretty rad.” He said, staring off into space as he continued twirling his blade.
“I’m glad you think so! Anyways, I took a closer look and found evidence of a long tubular metallic structure. I sent an additional drone for a detailed analysis and detected residual radioactivity.” PB said, pausing for Finn’s reaction.
Finn, realizing that she was no longer speaking, said “wow, that’s super cool.” He gave her a thumbs up to emphasize just how super cool it was.
“I know, right? But it gets even better, the isotope ratios were way out of whack, do you know what the means?!”
Finn sighed and shook his head. “I, uh, honestly have no clue, PB.”
“It’s pre-war tech!”
Finn sat up. A remnant of his people. “Pre-war? Any idea what it is?”
“It’s large and metal, that’s all I know for sure. I can speculate, but I’d prefer to gather more data first”
“How do you know it’s old-world tech? Like, how sure are you?”
PB was rubbing her chin, staring at the projector screen. “Radioactive isotopes, like I said. I’m not 100% sure, but there is an extremely high chance some kind fissile material was present at some point.”
“How much radiation are we talking? Is it dangerous?”
Bubblegum shook her head. “Not anymore. It’s long decayed, but still interesting nonetheless. I’d like you to take a closer look at it.”
“Why not tell my mom?”
“I’ll tell her as soon as there is something to tell. As it stands, it could be nothing, and what else can I tell her other than it’s a big metal object? There’s not much to say at this point.”
“Fair enough.”
As Finn left her lab, he considered his options. He would have to travel over land, due to the flying mushroom season, and the terrain turned treacherous through the mountains.
A quick look at the route told him he would need help on this expedition, and only a few fit the profile. Bronwyn wouldn’t be back from her own excursion for another two weeks. Simon was smart, and likely the one person who would know what was down there, but Simon wasn’t really conditioned for it. Marceline was on tour. TV…no. Not even close to being ready for something like this.
As he ran through the list of names, it soon dawned on him that he had only one feasible option, and it was the very last person that he wanted to deal with right now.
Finn stood in front Huntress’s tree house. There was no need to announce his presence; she already knew he was there. He was certain of it. She probably had been tracking him since the moment he stepped in the woods, but it didn’t matter in the end.
Huntress would make him wait.
She always denied it. Huntress would act as if she had been busy or otherwise preoccupied, or as if she had just returned from a previous excursion, but Finn knew the truth. His mechanical arm had sensors, and they almost always said she was nearby, watching, waiting.
Finn suspected that she just liked the idea of Finn the Human, Hero of Ooo, Champion and Knight of the Candy Kingdom, was stuck waiting on her like some kind of common errand boy. He figured it was some kind of weird, law-of-the-jungle dominance thing, asserting her place over him.
What Finn did not know was that this was the very furthest thing from Huntress’s mind. Every time Finn showed up on her doorstep terrified her. It also enthralled her. And Infuriated her. And a bunch of other confusing, contradictory feelings, including relief.
Every time they parted, they swore they would never see each other again, but neither of them had ever followed through with that promise to the point where it had become nearly routine. Each time, though, she wondered if it was actually the last time he would see him. What if he moved? Or died? Or turned her away without a word when she inevitably went to find him? That terrified her, but what scared her even more was the potential opposite: what if he said he was tired of staying away? What if he claimed her as his, in the tradition of his people, swearing fell vows of eternal love and commitment?
Would she have the strength to refuse him?
Would she have the strength to lose him, in the end?
She wasn’t sure she could, and that fear clung to her spine like an icy, ever-present ache that she had to spend a good half hour warming up before she could work up the nerve to talk to him. It was shameful. It was weak.
Finn passed the time going over their travel route until heard something drop behind him. Turning, he was unsurprised to be met by a pair of verdant, green slitted eyes. Huntress’s expression was unreadable.
“I thought we agreed never to see each other.” She said, crossing her arms.
“When has that ever stopped us?”
Huntress suppressed a smile.
“You need something.”
“Straight to business, as usual.” Finn removed a tablet from his jacket pocket and tossed it to her. “PB found something weird West of the Silent Mountains. Something from the old world. You in?”
Huntress perused the data on the tablet, then eyed him slowly up and down. “Fine, let me get my things.”
“Oh, and Huntress?” He said, just after she turned away. “Let’s keep this professional.”
“Professional. Right.” She said, glaring back at him before resuming her trip back to the tree house.
The journey lasted two days. It would’ve taken longer if they hiked, but Huntress had shape-shifted into a large, green-furred wolf larger than a horse. Finn clung to her fur, observing the scenery while occasionally resting his head against the top of her shoulder, secretly enjoying their closeness. It was a closeness of a strange and wild sort, but a closeness nonetheless.
Huntress tried focusing on the journey.
It didn’t work. As much as she didn’t want to, she enjoyed the feeling of Finn clinging to her. This was one of the rare times Finn could embrace her without it feeling possessive or dangerously intimate, so she savored it for what it was: an unspoken interlude where she didn’t have to pretend to avoid physical contact. The perfect excuse.
At night, they slept in their own shelters. Finn was simultaneously relieved and disappointed by this, but he knew it was right decision. They wouldn’t last 5 seconds if they shared the same space. They would either start fighting, or worse, end up in bed together.
There was also his new tent. It was the latest model and had all of the bells and whistles one could ask for in a field shelter. He was hoping it would survive the trip.
Finn’s tents were often the first casualties when Huntress was involved. She never did anything directly, rather they were always plagued by very suspicious circumstances that, for some reason, always culminated in the loss of his shelter. Last time it was an incredibly powerful gust of wind, completely out of nowhere, that carried his tent far over the horizon. The time before that, a boulder the size of house rolled through their camp as he bathed, destroying the tent and everything in it. The time before that, a rabid group of raccoons ran into their camp and shredded his shelter, and only his shelter, to ribbons before running off into the distance.
The last leg of their journey had them descending the Northernmost saddle of the Silent Mountains, affording them a beautiful view of the area. They saw their destination: a cenote near the sea, barely visible between the lush vegetation.
They made worse time than they anticipated, and the dense vegetation and uneven terrain tested HW’s balance and agility to the point it was already nightfall by the time they arrived.
“I’m thinking we should just set up camp for the night.” Finn said, pointing at a suitable place near the edge of the cenote. “How about there?”
Huntress, in her wolf form, replied telepathically. “I am of the same mind.”
While Huntress conjured her shelter, Finn tossed a small drone into the cenote. If they were lucky, the drone could map out much of the interior while they slept, giving them a map of the area before they entered. They would be able to plan more efficiently and hit areas of interest without wasting time.
After calibrating the drone and monitoring it to ensure it was functioning properly, he returned to the campsite and found that Huntress had already set up a campfire in addition to her shelter. Finn greeted her with an awkward nod and began setting up his own tent, the fire giving him ample light.
Huntress watched him work. She poured her eyes over his stretching and flexing muscles as he moved, his hair and beard in disarray from their travels. Finn always worked with a smile, and he began to hum as he worked the tent out of his bag and unrolled it.
He was frustratingly cute.
He was outrageously sexy.
He was an unyielding snare from which she could never escape.
And even if she could, she wouldn’t want to, and that made him the most dangerous apex predator in her world.
She didn’t even know how it worked. Most predators had some sort of strategy. Sometimes they used stealth to get within striking distance. Others were stronger or faster and physically overwhelmed their targets. The more creative ones used some kind of deception to either lure their prey or set them at ease.
Finn did none of those things. He was blundering, injury prone meat-sack whom she could easily outrun and usually physically overpower, provided he didn’t get the jump on her.
He made no attempt to hide. He had no mind for deception. His senses were dull and easily evaded by even the most casual concealment, and while cunning in his own way, Finn wasn’t exactly an intellectual powerhouse.
And yet, somehow, Huntress was completely helpless against him. She was as defenseless as a trembling, newborn faun against a wolf.
The worst part?
She secretly loved it. Huntress caught herself gazing longingly at her counterpart, and quickly shut her eyes and shook her head in a pointless attempt to shake herself out of her self-induced stupor.
It didn’t work. Not that she expected it to. Huntress was already in Finn’s grasp. He just didn’t realize it yet. It was over the moment Finn showed up in her woods. The only thing she was accomplishing with her resistance was wasting time. Fact was, she desperately needed him in a terrible, frightening way.
Meanwhile, Finn was completely oblivious to the war going on behind him as he worked. He spread and aligned the tent poles to set its structure, then placed the stakes through the loops near where they would finally set. As his mechanical arm pounded them into the unusually firm soil, he felt like he was being watched. He stopped, looking around in suspicion until he found the source of his unease.
Huntress was staring intently at him. She was sitting near the fire, her legs tucked up to her chest with her arms around them. Her head was cocked to the side like a curious puppy.
Finn looked back at his shelter, then shot a glare at her when he realized what she was about to do. “Don’t” he said. Huntress blinked in response.
He liked this tent. It was one of the nicer ones he’d had in a while, and he would prefer to keep it in one piece. The last thing he needed was for it to be carried off by bees or whatever other nonsense she would conjure up.
Finn pointed at her, puffing himself up to look as confident and demanding as possible. “Don’t even think about it.”
Silent, she blinked at him again in a completely innocent, non-suspicious way.
He didn’t buy it for a second.
Staring defiantly at HW, his mouth formed a thin straight line. “I swear if you—”
A tremendous crack split the sky, briefly turning night into day. Finn smelled ozone and cringed when he turned to see that his tent was now a smoldering, charred ruin, the victim of a lightning strike.
“Wow.” Huntress said, deadpan. “That’s really unlucky.”
Finn was speechless as Huntress calmly stood up, grabbed his 60-pound pack as if it was filled with nothing but packing peanuts, and tossed it into the remaining, non-incinerated shelter. She entered and closed the flap behind her.
He turned and hissed angrily as he stomped away from the camp.
“Son of a bitch! Glob dammit all to hell!” he quietly growled as he kicked a rock in frustration.
Who the hell did she think was? How dare she. That was his glob damn tent. A good one too.
He pinched the ridge of his nose in frustration.
This woman was going to be the death of him. He was sure of it.
What did she think was going to happen? Think she was getting laid, did she?
Not going to happen. She doesn’t just get to incinerate his favorite tent and then just expect him to go along with it!
Absolutely not. There was no way he was going to go slip his way inside, find her naked and splayed out in front of him, her toned thighs framing a glistening sex that was just wai—
Nope! Not going there!
“Keep it together.” He growled quietly to himself. He was big-mad, and he was hell-bent on staying that way.
Mad, you hear? Mad!
He angrily threw a rock into the pit.
He sat there, huffing the quickly cooling evening air, fuming in silence until his anger slowly began to subside.
Try as he might, he could never stay mad at her for long.
Oh, how he wished to sometimes. Maybe he would find the strength to move on if he could just wear an armor of ire. The problem was that anger was exhausting, and despite his best-efforts Huntress’s roots were buried deep within him.
Fate had a sense of humor. After a lifetime of rescuing princesses, he had found himself intertwined with the most bizarre, rude, frustrating, and downright confusing creature in all of Ooo. She never did anything the easy way. Ever. Even her booty calls were insane.
Unlike normal, not crazy people who did things like flirted, or seduced, or glob forbid, did something actually romantic to get laid, Huntress Wizard’s idea of flirting was blowing up his lumping shelter. Often in a spectacular and breathtakingly violent manner.
He really should’ve brought his other one, he thought, as he looked over at the remains of what was once his best tent. Finn sighed when he realized that his sleeping bag was now in Huntress’s tent with the rest of his stuff. Finn was tough, but it was going to get very cold very quick, and he would be tempting fate by trying to sleep outside without a bag.
Finn sighed again, resigned to his fate. The fact was that he needed her. Desperately. He needed her warmth, her body, her kiss, her gaze, and every single ounce of her attention.
He stood up, taking a last, deep breath and let out a slow exhale, calming his nerves before entering the Huntress’s shelter.
She already in his sleeping bag, with only her head poking out. Her clothes were piled in the corner of the tent. She had even removed her mask.
“Lost your sleeping bag?” Finn remarked.
“Seems so.” She replied.
Finn took his time undressing. Slowly taking off his boots, then his hat, and so on. Huntress stared impatiently at him the entire time.
Huntress squinted her eyes at him and opened the sleeping bag, revealing her naked body that begged Finn for attention. She was already very wet, and she was rubbing herself in slow circles as if to show off how aroused she was.
Fine. He would give her what she wanted.
He wasn’t gentle.
Finn dove between her legs, biting and kissing his way up her thighs until he landed on the lips of her labia. Except that he didn’t, not a single part of him touched any part of her wet, trembling entrance, and Huntress was very annoyed by this.
“Stop wasting time.” She growled.
Finn smiled, then deftly flipped her on her stomach before she could register what he was doing.
He was on her in an instant, his entire weight pressing down on her, his flesh arm wrapping around her neck, pressing it into the inside of his elbow. His flexing bicep partially constricted her airway. She felt his hardness press against her.
His mouth was right against her ear. “Too slow, babe.” He breathed, sensually, “now you’re really going to get it.”
Huntress moaned in anticipation. She could easily buck him off and be on top, but the fact was she wanted this. Tonight, she just wanted to be taken and fucked and thoroughly bred. She needed to feel wanted and owned by someone other than herself for once, and Finn, well, he was good at that. Very good.
“But first…” he continued, whispering while flicking his tongue lightly across her ear. Huntress sighed at the unexpected sensation.
“You’re going to beg for it.”
Huntress growled at that, playing at struggling and squirming against his grip.
“Beg for it, babe.” He whispered
“Please.” She pleaded, her voice hoarse from being squeezed.
“I said beg.”
“I…”
Finn squeezed her throat harder, preventing her from anything other than a thin, struggling rasp, and he lightly bit and licked her ear before entering her in one stroke.
The size of Finn’s cock was amplified by her legs being pressed together and his entire weight pressing down on her, and the sudden sensation forced from her a choked gasp as the pleasure hit her nervous system, which turned to moans as Finn thrust down into her in slow, deep, undulating motions.
Huntress buried her face into the sleeping bag. She could do nothing but growl and tremble and moan as Finn moved and rutted against her, forcefully pinning her down. He was so deep it felt like he was pressing on the bottom of her stomach. He was hitting all of her most intimate and sensitive spots and it was driving her absolutely fucking crazy.
Each time he thrust, Finn subtly adjusted his position until he found what he was looking for, and he groaned when he felt her already incredibly tight pussy clench even harder around him as her moans and growls turned into wanton squeals as every nerve in her body lit up. Finn was attacking something that was deep inside of her, something that felt like a hot, tight, aching that had her swimming in such intense sexual pleasure that her eyes rolled back into her head.
Finn increased his pace, goaded on by his lover’s loss of control and his undulating motions turned into a firm, relentless pounding.
Again and again and again Huntress felt him piercing and pressing against her burning, aching core as her squeals turned into low, deep, guttural growls that rose violently from deep inside of her. Finn’s cock was fucking her so deep and so hard she was reduced to a rasping, howling wreck that could do nothing but cum and soak the sleeping bag in her fluids, biting down on the bag liner and scrunching the tent floor in her hands in a white-knuckle grip, her nails close to drawing blood from her own palms.
Their sex had turned into a lewd, wet, slick slapping, both of them covered in sweat from their combined exertion. Finn cried out every time he pounded into her, and before long he felt himself approach the edge, preparing to fill her with what felt like a roiling ocean of seed.
No longer able to contain it, he threw his head back, gritted his teeth, grabbed Huntress in a tight, crushing embrace, and planted himself as deep as he could inside her.
With a high pitched, trembling moan, the first long, thick spurt erupted into her. And then another, and then another.
Huntress felt the heat of her lover’s seed bloom within her, rope after rope of thick semen pouring into her very center. She cried out as she came a final time, shaking and convulsing beneath him as the warm, tingling fire in her belly ignited into a wild conflagration. She screamed into the cloth of the sleeping bag until her voice became hoarse as a cosmic-level intergalactic supernova level orgasm exploded within her, completely overwhelming any and all higher brain functions as her entire nervous system screamed “yes!!!” at the cellular level.
Finn, spent, his breath haggard and exhausted, pulled them both onto their side, him spooning her with his real arm rubbing across her belly as she continued to shake and spasm in his grip until she was a drooling mess, her muscles softly twitching from the residual aftershocks. Finn’s length exited her, their combined fluids seeping into their shared sleeping bag.
Eventually, Huntress turned into Finn’s chest and began nuzzling against him, sighing. He held her tight and stroked her hair, basking in the afterglow.
Finn felt something wet on his breast and looked down to see Huntress staring at the top of the tent with tears streaming from her eyes.
“What are we doing, Finn.” She said, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Don’t think about it, babe.”
Huntress lifted her head from his chest. “This isn’t a good idea, I need to—”
“Don’t.” Finnn gently interrupted her. “Just be here with me. Just for tonight.”
She froze, then slowly rested her head back down. Finn resumed stroking her hair.
“Just for tonight.” She repeated.
Eventually they began to talk. They talked about important things, mundane things, funny things, and sad things. They laughed. They groaned at each other’s stupid jokes. Sometimes, they even cried.
Finn did his best to cherish this moment and commit it to his memory. It was a rare thing for Huntress to open up like this, and he wanted to make the most of it. He wanted to experience the parts of her that she showed no-one else. His favorite parts.
He used to think she was cold. One would be forgiven for doing so, as aside from mild amusement, frustration, or anger, she never displayed serious emotion in public. To Huntress, things like happiness, joy, sadness, and love were secret things for secret places. Places like there and then, when no-one was around. For single nights and never-agains, furthest from the sun and forever lost to time.
These were, without exception, the only times he was ever allowed to see her softer side, and every time he was reminded that, beneath her rigid exterior, was an emotionally deep and rich person who felt things just as strongly as he did.
Huntress reached up to the side of his head. Finn waited for what would come next, but noticed her hesitation. He rested his hand on top of hers and squeezed it lightly, pressing it gently against his head.
Finn felt the roots dig into him. The pain was sharp, almost unbearable, but as their nervous systems attuned it lessened into a dull ache, and the following dizziness quickly faded.
They felt each other, together, as one, joined in ways few living beings would ever experience in the physical world. Finn knew what Huntress was looking for. Reaching inside himself, he found the love and affection he felt for her and channeled it into their connection.
Huntress gasped as she suddenly felt herself bathed in warm, loving light. Finn was all around her, within her, through her. She was cradled within his very heart.
It was a narcotic she could never get enough of. She drank deeply of it, but no matter how much she took from the stream there was always more, and it was always new and fresh.
At the back of her mind, she knew she would pay for this later. Being full now means being empty later; once all was said and done, she would be alone, curled up on herself, desperately trying to ignore the void within herself. Tears would fall, but they would fall in secret.
For now, she sucked in everything Finn had to give. She allowed herself to feel things, emotions forgotten in her distant past, stashed away in the corners of her mind that never saw the light of day, things that she told herself had died in the flames of her parent’s cabin. Love. Comfort. Fulfillment. Happiness. Joy. Safety.
Softness.
Her lids began to feel heavy as fatigue caught up with her.
As her thoughts began to fade, she felt herself drift away into a deep, dreamless sleep. Tomorrow they would deal with the mission and face the fallout of their brief intimacy. For now, though, she was in her lover’s arms, and she didn’t want to be anywhere else.
