Dragon Games

Summary:

While everyone is panicking on the sudden reveal of Mira Shards being the Evil Queen, a certain queen is more than happy to see her spouse once more in person and decides to prolong her stay in Ever After High.

Notes:

I love this ship while watching Dragon Games because wdym Snow White immediately clocked that Mira was the Evil Queen from just a glance. Also, using Snowball as a nickname for your supposed nemesis? The girlies were exes, trust I was the mirror.

Also Apple and Raven as siblings is kinda cute. Honestly, I used to ship them but the sexual tension between their mothers overrode this and now I see them as siblings. Apple’s the younger one obviously.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Ever After High was in chaos.

Why, you ask? The Evil Queen has been revealed to have not only escaped her Mirror Prison but to have also infiltrated the student body as Mira Shards.

And now? Queen Snow White has just pardoned the Evil Queen in order to what? Relive their high school years and lead the next Dragon Games?

Pandemonium. Sheer chaos.

But in Avalon? That sentiment is not carried for after all, their King has returned.

”Did you see Headmaster Grimm’s face when Dad revealed herself?” Apple laughed, as she and her roommate, Raven Queen walked the castle halls.

”Even better, did you see the way he almost fainted when Mom pardoned her?” Raven replied in between her own fits of laughter. “I’m pretty sure Master Giles was wondering if he should get one of the boys to carry the Headmaster.”

”Serves him right for getting into our heads about our destinies.” Apple smiled, as the two turned to the large door in front of them.

“It’s tiring having to act like I don’t support you not taking up Father’s role. Finally, we got called here early.” The two teenagers faced each other once more. Before Apple can react, Raven put her arm around her and started to mess with Apple’s hair.

”Ow! Hey, what was that for?”

”Don’t act like you didn’t sneak into the Tower to free Dad. Only the four of us know how that mirror works and I was asleep at the time.”

With little effort, Apple got away and put some distance between them. “And what makes you think it wasn’t Mom? She talks about freeing Dad all the time.”

”Do you really think Mom would actually risk doing so?”

”Have you heard any one of her rants? She practically seems to be a second close to breaking the mirror herself.”

”However much Snow White is enamored with the Evil Queen, she is far more subtle in her ways.”

The two women froze as they turned to see the Dark Faerie standing in front of them.

”Aunt Maleficent,” Raven greeted, waving her hand. “How is the Moors doing?”

”As well as it could be,” Maleficent sighed, her raven-like wings furled behind her. “As for your Father, she has been checked by one of your kingdom’s healers. So rest assured, none of magical restrictions of Ever After and the Mirror Realm lingers on her.”

”Oh thank the Storybook,” Apple beamed only for the other two to stare at her. Having realized what she said, Apple sighed. “Sorry, force of habit.”

”Ah it seems the two of you have just arrived from school then?” With a wave of her hand,  the Dark Faerie sent a light breeze, causing the two princesses to be more alert. “The effects of the Fairytale World are quite hard to shake off when you are immersed for quite some time.”

”Yeah, my mind still feels lagged from crossing the border.” Raven touched a part of her hair, which moved due to the breeze. “How does Mom handle having to cross it every day?”

“Much like my Aurora, Snow White has been immersed in both worlds regularly that her body has adapted to the constant changes.” Maleficent replied. Staring out one of the windows, she sighed then addressed the two.

”I must be going now. While already outside Ever After, the Evil Queen’s release has caused quite the chaos  in the other nations and unfortunately that includes mine.”

”Oh, then safe travels Auntie.” The two princess watched as the Dark Faerie vanished from sight. Once the two were alone, they faced each other one more.

”Bets on how long it takes until Headmaster Grim and the other faculty members to plead to imprison Dad again?”

Raven shook her head. “I doubt they haven’t already.”

———

Dianna “Snow” White was in a good mood today.

First, she was able to accomplish her paperwork without interruptions from either her advisors or her staff.

Then, she visited her alma mater, the ever illustrious Ever After High, and announced the reintroduction of the Dragon Games.

Speaking of the Dragon Games, she inwardly sighed as her laptop repeated whatever drivel Milton Grimm was talking about.

”Your Majesty, surely you are not serious in pardoning Ever After’s infamous criminal?”

She hid her scoff.

”Milton, of course I’m not letting the Evil Queen free without proper precautions.” Snow White stared at the live video of Milton Grimm in his office. She watched as the Headmaster ball his fists and sigh. Taking a sip from her cup, Dianna hid the tiny smile that formed.

How does it feel catering to authority now, Milton?

”And what,” Grimm spoke through barely hidden gritted teeth, “may I ask are these precautions?”

Snow White smiled sickeningly sweet. “Do not fret, Headmaster. I have my ways.” Pausing, she decided to add, “I have already sent my husband’s soldiers to ‘guard’ the Evil Queen so there is no need for fear.”

She watched as Milton calmed his expression. “The soldiers have my permission to do as they please in Ever After High. I’ve heard they are quite… effective in their duties.”

”Hexellent!” Snow White exclaimed, clasping her hands together. “Then shall I take it that you have no other concerns to address?”

He shook his head.

“Very well. I must be off then. I have quite the important guest to entertain outside Ever After.”

“May the Storybook continue to grant you and the King blessings, your Majesty.”

Cutting the connection, Snow White sighed, closing her eyes as she leaned back on her chair.

By the Gods, was talking to Ever After officials so tiring.

She felt fingers tracing through her hair, making her hum in approval. After a while, she opened her eyes to be greeted by her husband.

”Done with your meeting?”

”The Headmaster wishes you well, by the way.”

The Evil Queen chuckled, her lilac eyes turning to glance at the laptop. “I’m sure he doesn’t.”

”We are married, are we not?” Dianna reached upward, her palm holding Evilyn’s cheek.

Cold, sunken, and pale. She furrowed her brows. Seeing the question in her eyes, Evilyn answered.

“I’ve already been checked by the healers, so don’t go worrying over your pretty head, Snowball.”

“You think I’m pretty?”

Dianna watched as Evilyn held her hand towards her lips and kissed it. “The fairest.”

“Be careful of your words, husband.” She smiled cheekily, causing Evilyn to raise an eyebrow. “The Evil Queen may hear you and curse me once more to endless sleep.”

”Then I’ll just have to wake you.” Those aubergine lips curved, Dianna’s fingers tracing the smirk that formed.

”You two are so sweet it’s gross.”

The two queens turned towards the other occupants of the room. Evilyn rolled her eyes. “No one asked for your opinion, Silena.”

Silena Cheshire pouted while Ruby Hood laughed at the exchange. “The two of you are giving me cavities. I doubt Red here can handle those either.”

”I think it’s adorable they are this sappy at times.” Ruby added, shooting Silena a look. “Having them always be serious can be intimidating.”

Silena nodded, crossing her arms. “You’re right, Ruby. There’s more entertainment in making fun of them.”

”It’s good to see you too, I guess,” Evilyn sighed, grabbing the nearest chair and seating beside Dianna who leaned on her shoulder.

A smile formed on the Queen of Ever After’s face as she listened to the eventual back and forth. If she closed her eyes, she could just imagine them all back in Ever After High, sneaking into one of their rooms, chatting about how their day went. Not fairytale icons nor individuals with responsibilities, just friends hanging out.

”All right, serious time.” Silena said after a few laughs. “What are your plans for the Dragon Games?” She gestured at the couple. “Because seriously, I and all the others from Wonderland are wondering what the hex made you two bring them back?”

”I’ve been wondering about that too,” Ruby added. “Lucas smelled a scheme when he witnessed you two on the field.”

Dianna and Evilin stared at each other, a silent conversation happening within moments. When they broke from their gaze, Evilyn had a calm expression while Dianna feigned innocence.

”You sound like Milton. What’s so wrong in reliving the old days all of the sudden?”

Ruby blinked. “You cannot be serious.”

Silena laughed, her tail flicking back and forth.  “I don’t care if Marie makes me sleep on the couch for not guarding the gates of Wonderland for a week. Chaos is my main motivation and I’m bringing Claude with me to witness whatever shit happens.”

———

Ever After High’s cafeteria was rather lively today, most of it in regard to the upcoming Dragon Games.

“Did anyone realize that the Evil Queen was with us the whole time?”

“I can’t believe she was pardoned. I’d understand if it was Raven, but the Evil Queen?”

“Do you think she has something to do with the Fairytale Madness cases?”

Farah Goodfairy sighed as she checked the case documents again.

So many cases of Fairytale Madness, if only the Wonderlandians knew what caused it…

“What’s with the frown this time Goodfairy?”

Farah raised her head only to see Faybelle Thorne staring down at her.

“Faybelle.”

“Farah.”

“Look,” Farah gestured towards the notebooks. “As much as I would like to play our rivalry, I have more important things to do.” She sighed. “If you’re looking for Briar, I don’t know. I haven’t been hanging around Ashlynn.”

Faybelle raised an eyebrow. “You’re investigating the Fairytale Madness cases? Why?”

“Because no one knows what caused it!”

“Isn’t it obvious,” she waved her hand. “The Evil Queen cursed Wonderland which is why they had the Fairytale Madness.”

Farah pursed her lips, looking back to her papers.

As much as everyone believes that, why can’t I shake the feeling it’s not that simple?

“Oh so you don’t believe me even though almost everyone says it?”

But what other option do we have? Wonderland was plagued by Madness as soon as the Evil Queen cursed them.

“I don’t think it’s the Evil Queen’s fault.” Farah blurted out, before covering her mouth when she realized what she said. She quickly glanced at Faybelle who had an unreadable expression on her face.

“Faybelle…”

Much to her surprise, the daughter of the Dark Faerie only sighed and said “Scoot over.” Before sitting beside her, causing quite a few stares on them.

“Listen I-“

“Why do you think it’s not the Evil Queen’s fault?”

Huh? Farah looked at the dark fae, confused. “You’re actually asking me that?”

Faybelle rolled her eyes. “No hex. Why?”

Farah glanced at her surroundings. When she was sure no one was paying attention to them, she whispered.

“Raven’s magic just feels,” she waved her hand around trying to figure out a word for what she meant. “Like it’s normal, natural even. I’d assume since her mother is the Evil Queen, their magic would feel similar.”

“But the Fairytale Madness? It feels so artificial!”

Like Prof. Rumpelstiltskin’s Chemythstry classes or even Baba Yaga’s alchemy.

“You’re getting warmer.”

Farah blushed, checking her temperature. “Don’t tell me I have it!”

Faybelle sighed. “What I meant is, you’re kind of getting closer to the truth.”

“What truth?” Farah frowned before gasping and pointing her wand. “Do you know what causes Fairytale Madness?”

“A suspicion really,” Faybelle muttered, glancing at their surroundings. “But we should not talk about it here. Let’s go.”

“But the Dragon Games are about to start!”

“Do you want to know what is causing this or not?”

———

Ever After High waited in bated breath as Snow White and the Evil Queen approached the center of the stage.

It was the day for the Dragon Riders of each team were to be selected. The whole stadium was practically at the edge of their seats, each one of them filled with anticipation and sheer curiosity.

Sure, Ever After was still skeptical with the Queen’s decision of pardoning her nemesis. However, no one can deny the old rivalry between the two sparked excitement over the newly-returned event.

”And now,” Headmaster Grimm stepped forward in between the two queens. From his pocket, he produced a gold coin. “For deciding the Captains.”, then he flipped the coin. The air faintly buzzed with magic before the coin landed on the Headmaster’s hand. He shared a glance with his brother, before announcing,

”Head faces, White team goes first.”

Snow White discretely raised a brow as she stepped towards the participants.

”I choose,” she paused, searching the participants. Among the students, Raven and Apple shared a look when they saw the glint in their Mother’s eyes. “Raven Queen as Captain of White.”

Milton Grimm's mouth fell wide open. Beside him Giles Grimm turned to look at the other members of the faculty, who were shocked and confused as he was.

Loud whispers echoed across the field.

“What did she say?”

”Did the Queen choose Raven Queen before her own daughter?”

“What kind of plot twist is this?”

From the tower allotted for the Evil Queen’s quarters, the Cheshire Cat laughed. “That’s my Roomie! Always surpassing expectations.”

”Shh!” The Queen of Hearts shushed. “Don’t shout so much or else the Headmaster will spot you.”

The Mad Hatter hollered, refilling everyone’s cups with even more tea. “Oh come now, your Highness. We’re here to enjoy ourselves.”

“Until Ever After notices that a bunch of outsiders are inside their borders without their knowledge,” she hisses at them.

”Really?” The Dark Faerie sipped her cup as she stared at the Queen of Hearts. “You don’t trust my magic, Marie?”

”When the lot of you are shouting like hooligans? Yes.”

”Ouch, ma cherie!” Silena placed her clawed hand on her chest fur, falling down her perch and appearing once more on Marie Hearts’ lap. “Did you just compare me to the common rabble? I’m hurt.”

”Can we please focus on what’s happening on stage?” The Puss in Boots shouted from his vantage point. “I wanna see this play out.”

”Claude Boots what did I just say?”

”You just insulted my cousin’s honor so I am politely ignoring you.”

“I don’t know,” The Raven leaned against the flag pole where Claude was perched on. “This view is actually good.”

“Diaval, I am not getting you down from there.”

“You’d let me fall to my death, Mal?” He bent down to peer through the transparent trap door of the ceiling., making eye contact with his partner. “What will the hatchlings say?”

“Survival of the fittest.”

”By the Jester’s mask, why am I friends with you all, again?”

”Because what is life without a bit of fun?”

”Shhh! Evilyn’s picking.”

”If that’s how it is, fine, I’ll play your game, Snow.” The Evil Queen interrupted the Headmaster’s constant begging and questions by stepping forward, side-eyeing her opponent.

“I choose Apple White.”

“Bloody hell, she actually did it.” Diaval remarked, tapping his talons on the metal.

Maleficent laughed. “What did you expect? It was a clear challenge for anyone to see.”

”Hey, Corvus! Stop tapping the pole would ya? I have a perfectly good place up here.”

“You felines are all about balance, yes? Deal with it.”

The murmurs from the crowd grew louder at the two teams' respective choices.

Raven sighed as her sister stepped forward towards the direction of their Father, smiling politely for the audience.

So much for a friendly competition.

”Captains,” Headmaster Grimm called. “Time to choose your teammates.”

Before there could be discussion on who picks first, a voice spoke.

”I pick Darling Charming.” Raven declared, ignoring the gasp from Apple. She stared as Darling approached her side who then leaned towards her and whispered.

”Is there some sort of war between you guys?”

“If our parents are getting into the competition, I’m more than allowed to be petty.”

Darling stifled her laugh before replying. “You know she’ll pick Maddie right after you, right?”

Raven smirked as Apple did exactly as predicted, Maddie high-fiving Apple as she stepped towards her. “But I’m not the one forced to compete with my ‘suitor’ am I?”

Darling sighed. “I regret introducing myself like that.”

”Hey, if it helps, Dad actually found it hilarious in private.”

“Eh, a point is a point.”

And so after careful consideration from both teams, the roster was filled as follows:

Team Snow White: Raven Queen, Darling Charming, Lizzie Hearts, Daring Charming, Briar Beauty.

Team Evil Queen: Apple White, Madeline Hatter, Ashlynn Ella, Hunter Huntsman, Cerise Hood.

The two teams stared at each other awkwardly, who wouldn’t when the two queens were glaring daggers at each other.

Clearing his throat, the Headmaster gained most of the attention. “Now the teams have been selected. This concludes the first day of-“

”Not so fast, Headmaster.”

Everyone on stage turned to see Dylan Charming in full dragon riding gear, getting down from Legend, Daring Charming’s dragon.

Darling sighed while Daring stared, confused at their uncle's presence.

”Shouldn’t there be an exhibition match by the veterans?” He smirked, approaching Snow White as he did so. He was about to place his hand on her waist when Snow White moved forward, causing Dylan’s hand to hover in mid-air.

”It is nice to see you too, Dylan,” Snow White smiled then turned to shake hands with the 3rd Charming Prince. She controlled her smile when the familiar hum of her husband’s magic seemed to envelop her, unseen by the naked eye. On her side, Raven bowed down, hiding her face from view.

“Ah, so it seems the little witch knows her betters,” Dylan smirked, glancing at Raven’s way before turning back to Snow White. “Queen Snow, it seems as usual, your husband is not around. If you would like, I’d gladly be your champion for the exhibition match.”

“Did you see how the Third Prince smiled? He’s so charming! How did the Queen not marry him?

“Hey, don’t you remember? He was gallivanting around Ever After so much, he wasn’t able to wake up Snow White. The King had to step in and save her.”

“I wonder how handsome and gentlemanly our King is for the Queen to disregard a Charming Prince?”

“I can’t believe he actually showed his face here,” Claude scoffed, unsheathing his sword and pointing it towards the direction of Dylan. “And riding the First Prince Charming’s Dragon while the First is literally right there? Shameful!”

“How are you still surprised?” Tarrant Hatter stared up the ceiling. “Any news on Snow White, Dylan is always there.”

Silena booed, making a thumbs down with both her hands. “Get over yourself. My Roomie is way above your level.”

“An exhibition match,” Maleficent pondered, staring at the Evil Queen and Snow White.

“Don’t let that scoundrel steal your glory, Dianna!” Marie Hearts raised her cup, causing Silena, who was still on her lap, to hiss, covering her ears.

“Hey! How come you get to shout?”

Dianna stared at Dylan, who was bowing before her. She was very much aware of the stares, the anticipation of her reply.

It was obvious that what Dylan suggested would happen. The crowd would go wild for the taste of their fairy tale idols competing.

If there should be an exhibition match, it should be between Evilyn and I.

HoweverShe looked at the hand extended towards her. Curving her lips, Snow White placed a finger on Dylan’s chin, guiding him to face her.

“Since you offered so kindly, then you may be my representative for this match.”

Apple blinked, staring at her Mother in confusion.

But Mom is known for being competitive.

She stared as Prince Dylan hastily accepted, bowing before her Mother then walking back towards Legend.

Why would she-

“Why, Snow?” The Evil Queen gestured towards Dylan, her other hand on her waist. “Feeling a bit rusty so you’re letting someone else take your place?”

Snow White merely smiled.

“He offered so why not?” Much to everyone’s shock, Snow White approached Dylan then kissed him on the cheek.

“Good luck, my champion.”

Squeals and cheering sounded around the field as Dylan Charming’s face reddened, nodding far too quickly Apple was sure he would have vertigo.

And with that, Apple shot another look towards Raven, who visibly sighed and facepalmed. Beside her, Apple could hear her Father muttering curses in the Olden Tongue.

Maybe they should stay at their dorm after this…

———

“Holy Fairy Godmother! What is that?”

Faybelle turned to look at Farah, whose wings seemed to be flapping in alarm at the dust permeating the room.

“Oh hey guys!”

Farah gasped as Faybelle approached the unconscious form of Meeshell Mermaid in her siren form while Holly O’ Hair waved at them while Poppy was calming down Kitty Cheshire who was- wait why was she hissing?”

“Is she okay?” She ran towards them before checking if Meeshell was still breathing. Fortunately, it seemed that the daughter of the Little Mermaid was fine, just…

“I don’t know,” Holly sighed. “We were just looking for a quiet place to hangout but when we opened this room, Meeshell just fainted.”

Furrowing her eye brows, Farah waved her wand, trying to wake her up. However, it didn’t seem to be working…

Strange… This usually works…

She noticed a few piles of pink dust on the floor.

Could it be because of all this dust? She bent down to touch the dust before-

“Oh no you don’t!”

Branches wrapped around her wrist, pulling away from the dust. Farah stumbled as Faybelle directed other branches to swat at the dust, which-

The branch withered?! Farah watched in horror as the branches crumbled, their remains mixing with the pink.

“The Captain of Avalon’s soldiers requested an investigation on the air.” Her mother had said to her in private.

“Did you find anything?”

“Just this weird pink substance called-“

“Fairy Dust,” Faybelle growled. Behind her, Kitty winced, her ears flattening and her tail falling in between her legs.

“Why would there be Fairy Dust in Ever After?” Kitty hissed, pupils turning into slits.

“No clue, but this,” she gestured toward the fallen branch covered by pink dust, “is causing the Fairytale Madness.”

“Wait!” Kitty gasped. “It spread here too?”

“You know what it is?” Poppy asked curiously.

“Well,” Kitty turned to look at Faybelle who nodded. “It was the main reason why we evacuated.”

“The Wonderlandians were unsure of what caused it.” The Good Fairy said, as she scanned the patients.

“They seem pretty reluctant to say anything, but why?”

“So the current illness was indeed caused by the Evil Queen.” Holly muttered, repositioning Meeshell.

Farah frowned when she saw Faybelle and Kitty give each other strange looks.

“It wasn’t the Evil Queen, was it?” Farah asked.

“No,” Kitty finally said. “It would be impossible for the Evil Queen to control Fairy Dust considering it is the very thing that kept her trapped in the Mirror Realm.”

Poppy frowned. “What kept her trapped?”

Faybelle nodded. “Fairy Dust isn’t really magical. It is more of a byproduct of certain spells and reactions.“

“You’re getting warmer.”

“The Faculty,” Farah muttered, but it seems no one heard her.

“But what happens when you inhale it?” Holly gestured at the decaying branches.

“Usually?” Faybelle frowned. “For some reason, you, Ever After citizens, are able to breathe it in normal amounts just fine. For those of other nations,” she looked at Kitty.

“It erodes your brain,” Kitty hissed, closing her eyes as her claws ripped into the floor. “Makes you weak, easily influenced. Most go mad, striving for fame and glory.”

“Can you believe what the patients are saying?” One of the pixies whispered when they were observing those inflicted.

“They’re the next Prince Charming? Yeah ridiculous, their family isn’t even one of the Knighted ones.”

“But, why would Ever After have this stuff in the first place?”

“And how are the two of you not affected?” Poppy gestured toward them.

“We’re stronger than most. Believe it or not, power has a lot to help with not succumbing to madness.”

Kitty nodded. “It also helps that I’m limiting my breathing.”

“Which is not good,” Faybelle forced Kitty to stand, carefully maneuvering her to stay away from the dust. They made it to the doorway and Faybelle pushed Kitty through.  She turned towards them, flicking her fingers as a silver glow enveloped Meeshell and levitated her out of the room.

“Well? Do you want to become mad?”

“So it was Fairy Dust,” Meeshell sighed, her tail flipping, causing a few of the lake’s water to splash.

“But how can so much of it be in Ever After?” Alistair frowned. “None of us Wonderlandians brought it here.”

“And we can’t exactly replicate it.” Bunny Blanc muttered.

Farah waved her wand, the wand responding with a silver glow.

So it limits magic too.

“Caused by certain reactions.”

Farah turned to Faybelle.

“You seem to be able to detect amounts of it.”

And you seem to know what and who causes it.

Faybelle sighed. “When my mother went to aid Wonderland, I was with her, helping to purify the air.”

“Why would the Dark Faerie help Wonderland?”

“Believe it or not, a lot of the other nations don’t care about the Storybook and would help each other because they’re allies.” Faybelle replied.

“The Dark Faerie and the Queen of Hearts are friends.” Alistair continued. “So are most of the nation’s leaders.”

“Technically, every single nation head is a part of one big friend group,” Meeshell added, turning to the O’ Hair twins and Farah. “Even my mother and Queen Snow White are part of it.”

“Damn,” Poppy crossed her arms. “Never knew that they were friends outside the stories.”

“That’s Ever After’s propaganda talking,” Faybelle muttered, causing the Atlantean Princess and the Wonderlandians to nod.

“Speaking of that,” Farah turned back to Faybelle. “Could the Fairy Dust also be an issue from… Ever After?”

Everyone turned to her confused. However, Farah wasn’t focused on them. She was more focused on Faybelle who nodded.

“I’m suspicious of,” Faybelle paused, glancing at Ever After High in the distance. “Certain individuals, but I don’t have any proof but my ability to detect it.”

“Then why don’t you come forward about it?” Holly asked. “Ever After may not be as affected but it is still dangerous!”

“It isn’t that easy,” Faybelle gritted her teeth.

“Tell me, how would people react when the Dark Faerie’s daughter tells them that a dangerous substance is in the air?”

No one answered. Because everyone knew what the public would say.

They’d blame it on her. Farah frowned.

Is Ever After really that focused on our stories that it just becomes our whole personality?

“Regardless, I only have suspicions,” Faybelle crossed her arms. “Even if they’re proven true, no one else will believe me.”

Kitty put a hand on her shoulder. “We would.”

“And the Queen’s captain,” Farah replied. Now this caused all the non Ever After citizens to look at her in surprise.

“How would you know that?” Bunny asked tentatively.

“He requested an air test, but I only know the Institute detected Fairy Dust.”

Holly frowned. “Maybe we should ask the Captain’s advice? I heard Avalon’s soldiers are loitering around Ever After High to protect the Queen.”

“But how do we get his attention?” Poppy frowned, furrowing her brows. “He is their leader so I doubt he’d just be around.”

The Wonderlandians looked at Faybelle, who only sighed. She stepped forward and made a shrilling whistle with her hands and lips. Everyone else looked at her confused.

What in the hex was that?

“Ah! Distant niece, why would you make such horrid noise while I’m taking a stroll.”

Everyone gasped when a tall, beautiful, pale blonde haired man in purple robes stood before them. He was leaning against one of the trees, holding a purple huntsman’s hat.

“Uncle Luciel,” Faybelle nodded towards the man. “You responded fast.”

“Why of course!” With inhuman speed, he stood behind Faybelle, ruffling her hair, which the dark fae was trying to get out of. “Get your hands off me!”

“But I haven’t seen you for quite some time now,” the man pouted, before turning his attention to the rest of them.

“Ah children of fairy tales,” he beamed at them, bowing as he did so. “What do I owe the pleasure of being graced by your presences?”

“Uhm,” Holly interrupted the silence, gesturing at the man.

“Oh where are my manners?” The man exclaimed. He saluted to them and said, “Luciel Huntsman, Captain of Avalon’s soldiers.”

Farah’s eyes widened. “You’re the Captain?”

The man chuckled. “I may look fair but I promise you I am quite good with weapons so your safety and Ever After’s is assured.”

“He also happens to be fae so he has magic,” Faybelle muttered after she fixed her hair.

“And probably heard our conversation,” Kitty added.

“Now, Kitty, your uncle might be a handsome tom but you can’t just reveal my secrets like that,” Captain Luciel huffed.

“So you don’t know why we called you here?”

“Ah well,” The Captain chuckled, before fixing his lilac eyes at Farah. “You are indeed correct Ms. Goodfairy. I did request an investigation on Ever After’s Institute regarding the air, particularly that near Ever After High actually.”

“So you also have suspicions,” Faybelle crossed her arms.

“Quite a few,” He nodded towards her. “Coupled with certain information that I cannot disclose at the time, I have quite the accusation that if I tell the public,” he laughed. “I might end up like my half-sibling.”

Farah made eye contact with Poppy and Holly who also did not know what he meant. Meeshell seemed confused at first before her eyes widened.

“I knew it!” Faybelle hissed, her wings flapping.

“What do you know?” Alistair turned to her.

“Ever After High’s faculty are responsible aren’t they?” Faybelle growled. “Probably led by the Headmaster.”

The Wonderlandians looked in horror.

“It would,” Alistair frowned, squatting down. “It actually-“

“Makes sense,” Bunny whimpered, her ears bending down, causing Meeshell to swim towards her and hold her hand.

Luciel’s eyes narrowed. “Little Mal, don’t just say things out of the blue.” He tapped his pointed ear. “Someone might be listening.”

“Wow wow wow, hold up,” Poppy waved her hands, stepping forward. “Why are we suddenly blaming our teachers?”

“Well-“

“I’m afraid we cannot disclose that.” Luciel interrupted. He stepped forward, staring at each of them.

“I thank you all for bringing this information to me. However, it would be better if you let me and my men handle this for now.”

“But people are in danger,” Poppy shouted. “Shouldn’t we be-“

“Poppy,” Holly placed her hand on her twin’s shoulder. They made eye contact before both daughters of Rapunzel faced the Captain.

“We’ll trust you.”

“For now,” Poppy muttered.

“Hexellent!” Lilac eyes met Farah’s. “Ms. Goodfairy, while it is honorable you are trying to help your mother and the Institute, perhaps it’s best that you leave this be for now.”

Lest you discover too much.

Farah gripped her wand. She wanted to know what was causing the illness and why. After all, isn’t that what fairies are supposed to do? Protect people? People’s instinctual wish is to be safe, why should she ignore that?”

“Curiosity is an interesting thing,” Freya Goodfairy had said while her daughter was asking questions about the Institute.

“It leads progress, innovation, but at times,” Mother had pursed her lips. “It can also lead to tragedy.”

“Okay.”

“Great!” The Captain clapped his hands together. He looked at the sky, which was slightly covered by the trees. “Well look at the time! I must be off now. The first day of Dragon Games should have ended by now.” He looked towards them. “You should all hurry along too.”

And with that, he vanished into thin air.

Everyone stared at each other, uncertainty hanging in the air.

“So, what now?”

“We go back I guess?”

“Damn, I wanted to join the Games.”

Everyone else made their turn to leave, leaving Farah alone with her thoughts.

Farah looked down and sighed. Her mother was already ripping her hair out from confusion on this illness.  Can she really not do anything now?

“Listen.”

Farah looked up and saw Faybelle staring at her. “If you want, I can teach you the spell to remove it.”

Farah frowned. “You know how to cure it?”

Faybelle shook her head. “Just remove it from the air. Fairytale Madness, as far as I know, doesn’t have a cure yet.”

Farah looked into the eyes of the dark fae.

“Why are you helping me?”

Faybelle sighed, getting closer to her.

“My mother thinks it’s important we have good ties to other nations.” She muttered. “I might be the next Dark Faerie but that doesn’t mean I’ll keep on cursing maidens to sleep all the time. Besides,” she looked at her.

“Fae, fairy, and pixies have similar roots don’t they? As much as it was kinda fun beefing with each other, in the long run, it’s tiring. So, do you want my help or not?” Faybelle offered her hand.

Farah stared at it.

The dark fae were always considered evil by most. Joining hands with them? Not really good.

But if this alliance can help the people…

“If it can help,” a soft voice spoke causing the two to turn to Meeshell Mermaid who was now in her human form, getting up from the lake. “My people have some songs that can clear someone’s mind and strengthen magic, perhaps I can be of assistance too.” The daughter of the Little Mermaid turned to Faybelle. “While us Atlanteans usually have good relations with the other nations, it would be nice to sow some goodwill right?”

Faybelle smirked. “Nature, hydro, and mystic magic, that should be enough to clear the air.” She turned towards Farah.

“Well, Goodfairy? What’s your decision?”

She took the hand and let Faybelle drag her deeper into the forest as Meeshell Mermaid followed them.

———

One to twenty.

The bell rang signaling the exhibition match’s end, with a score of one to twenty, the match going in the Evil Queen’s favor.

Speaking of the Evil Queen, she and her dragon, Nepenthe, descended towards the stage and was welcomed with polite clapping in commemoration of her win.

On the other side of the stage, Legend descended with Prince Dylan tangled on the riding gear after he tried to steal the ball from the Evil Queen only to fail and for the reigns to envelop him. Staff quickly approached him, freeing him from his binds.

The Headmaster shot a glare at the Prince before loudly exclaiming, “the Exhibition Match has ended! Victory goes to the Evil Queen!”

Whispers sounded before the audience reluctantly clapped.

“A shame,” the Evil Queen, back on stage, walked towards the seated Dylan, her expression one of mock concern. “I would have thought the supposed ‘Third Prince’ would put up a better fight.” She shook her head, returning back to her area.

“That’s because you cheated!” Dylan exclaimed, charging towards her, only to be stopped by Snow White.

“Dylan stand down,” Snow White said.

“But my Queen! The witch was using her magic, I swear. I saw it with my own eyes, the air was practically buzzing with who knows how many spells she-“

“Dylan,” Snow White said through gritted teeth. She turned towards him, smiling, her sky blue eyes appearing icy with how she looked at him. “Stand down. You have done your best.”

With a frown, Dylan bowed down.

Snow White turned towards the audience, her practiced smile fitting in easily, bringing the audience’s hopes up.

“And that concludes our first day of the Dragon Games. However,” Snow White paused, taking a glance at the opposite team before continuing. “The victor has not been decided yet, my people. After all, Fortune favors the good.”

The Evil Queen rolled her eyes as the audience clapped and hollered praises, wishing for Team White’s success. Beside her, her team gulped, suddenly feeling the pressure of having to live up to the literal legend right before them.

On the other side, Team White has started to whisper among themselves.

“We’ll avenge our Queen, right?” Briar said, risking a glance at their team captain.

“Of course,” Raven agreed. “If the other team tries anything, I’ll be sure to retaliate.”

“I’m so glad we have you as our team captain,” Lizzie beamed, patting her on the back.

“But Legend,” Daring pouted, staring at the extremely tired form of his dragon. “Why would Uncle use her? He has his own dragon.”

“Arthur isn’t exactly as intimidating,” Darling replied, putting a hand on Daring’s back reassuringly.

“But Arthur is built for speed! Legend has just laid eggs and is not really on her best shape right now.” Daring approached the violet dragon, who gladly accepted the pats he gave. “I was planning on using another one of our family’s dragons instead and have Legend be taken care for back in our palace but Uncle actually brought her here.” He shook his head, balling his fists. “He probably sent away the people charged with taking Legend back. They wouldn’t be able to return in time for the Dragon Games.”

“Hey,” Raven stepped forward, summoning a bucket of water, which Daring thanked her for and put near Legend who drank immediately. “We have a week before the games start so how about we let Legend rest for a few days then we practice.” She tilted her head. “We can already discuss strategy during that time.”

Lizzie nodded, turning towards Legend. “I think Legend would make the perfect dragon to block goals.”

“Exactly,” Daring smiled, still petting his dragon. “Defense is very important too, especially if the other team decides to be on the offensive.”

“See?” Darling smiled. “We already have a plan, so we’re practically ready to win.”

“I am sure you will.”

Team White turned to see Snow White smiling at them.

“I know for a fact the Evil Queen will strongly urge her team to go on the offensive, so it’s best for you to simply defend and counterattack.”

“Thank you, your Majesty,” Raven bowed. “We’ll make sure to keep that in mind.”

“But your Majesty,” Briar exclaimed. “What if what Prince Dylan said was true and the Evil Queen uses her magic to aid her team.”

Snow White shook her head. “She wouldn’t and won’t. That is how she usually plays. Nepenthe, her dragon, is especially bred for swooping in and diving in inhumane speeds.” She gestured to Raven. “I believe your dragon, Nevermore, is her offspring, yes?”

Raven nodded.

“Then have Raven do most of the counterattack while the others focus on defending and shooting when they can.”

“Yup,” Cerise said, staring at the other team. “They are definitely planning something.”

“Already?” Ashlynn asked.

“Don’t worry guys,” Apple smiled, reassuring her teammates. “Their plan won’t be as effective as they think it is.”

Hunter frowned, turning towards her. “Why is that?”

“Because,” Apple beamed, “I’m not using Braebyrn.”

Ashlynn tilted her head. “But, Braebyrn is your dragon.”

“The first dragon she explicitly own,” Maddie winked at Apple, realizing what the princess meant.

Apple turned towards Cerise. “Cerise, thank you for appearing last minute, can you ride Braebyrn for me? Braebyrn is extremely fast but that kind of flying is something I do recreationally. I trust you’ll be able to bond and better use her talents far more than me.”

“Alright,” Cerise nodded. “But that still doesn’t answer the question, what dragon you’ll take?”

“You’ll just have to wait and see.” Apple winked before walking towards the Evil Queen, who was dearmoring Nepenthe.

“So, hypothetical question,” Apple began gaining the Evil Queen’s attention. “How long would it take for me to go to the Moors and come back?”

The Evil Queen tilted her head. “Usually, a week, but I can teleport you in seconds.” She paused before turning to face Apple, who was grinning.

“You’re using him, are you?

“It would work, right?”

“Your Mother is going to kill me.”

“Don’t you want a little revenge after today’s events?”

The Evil Queen paused and turned to look at Nepenthe, who huffed in amusement as if to say Your hatchling, your problem.

“Don’t let her know until the games, then I’ll think about it.”

“You’re the best.”

———

“And that is all I learned.” Captain Luciel finished his report, bowing before the two princesses.

“So, Fairy Dust..” Raven furrowed her brows, leaning against the wall.

“If the Headmaster and the faculty are responsible for this,” Apple sighed, looking at her hands. Noticing this, Raven held their hands together reassuringly. When she and Apple made eye contact, she gave her a look before turning back to the Captain.

“Uncle Luciel, did the Headmaster really denied the presence of Fairy Dust?”

Luciel nodded. “He seems adamant that me and my soldiers are just weak considering Ever After citizens are relatively normal. He denied the existence of this supposed substance, telling me that I’m just making up excuses.”

“But they should be normal to the stuff,” Apple exclaimed. “Why did the Fairytale Madness reach Ever After?”

Raven’s eyes widened.

Could they be…

“I don’t think the Headmaster trusts the soldiers to protect us.”

Apple frowned. “But Mom explicitly said that she ordered the soldiers to guard us.”

Raven turned to Luciel. “Does the Headmaster know that you are fae?”

Luciel frowned. “Perhaps? I do look like one.”

“Then he probably thinks Dad can influence you.”

Luciel rolled his eyes. “My dearest Vil is our king. Of course, she can.”

“But he doesn’t know that Dad is Mom’s husband at all,” Apple widened her eyes. “He probably thinks you would turn on us.”

Luciel narrowed his eyes. “So he is making precautions.”

“And maybe more,” Raven closed her eyes.

They were just discussing strategy, the script they need to perform when they were in public.

“People already know you do not want to follow me, birdie.” Dad softly spoke, a foreign sound to those not close to her. “Milton sometimes rants to me of all people about how you were straying from our path.”

“Dad,” Raven had tried to argue, but her father put a hand up.

“I may not know your reasons but we must now act accordingly to our roles.” The Evil Queen narrowed her eyes. “You will have to act… disobedient with me in public, like a child acting out.”

Raven widened her eyes. “But you and Mom said-“

“That we must appear united in public, whether we disagree with each other.” Dad nodded, crossing her arms. “But considering the circumstances, as the Rebel Leader, it would be more appropriate if you and I appear to have a rocky relationship, as the person you do not wish to follow.”

Raven sighed. Before they can continue, her father started coughing which was strange since, she wasn’t coughing earlier and as far as everyone was concerned, she was supposed to be okay, right?

“Dad?” Raven approached her only to notice droplets of blood on her father’s hand.

“Just not used to the atmosphere yet.” The Evil Queen closed her hands, hiding them from view. “Now where were we?”

“They’re trying to kill her?!” Apple gasped.

“That wretched man,” Luciel growled. “To think he would risk his people’s safety to harm a foe.” He shook his head. “Why, your father was the one to risk her safety when the infighting between us siblings started, slowly gaining the public’s trust while pretending to support those noble bastards-“

“Before she took over the throne,” Raven finished, having heard the same story from their uncle numerous times already.

“So Ever After citizens would die in hopes that the Evil Queen is gone for good?” Apple exclaimed. “What kind of leader-“

“The same one who would trap his brother under the library catacombs so that no one knows the Storybook is missing.” Raven muttered. She looked at Apple who seemed to have decided on something. Raven watched as her younger sister turned to their uncle.

“Uncle Ciel, can you possibly continue the investigation on where most of the Fairy Dust is coming from?” Apple gestured to them. “We already have a suspicion but we need proof.”

The Captain nodded. “Do not fret my nieces. We can handle the brunt work.”

“Then we must be off,” Apple hugged him, before grabbing Raven’s hand and dragging them back inside Ever After High.

“What’s that look on your face?” Raven asked when they got back to their dorm room.

“What do you mean?” Apple looked up from her diary as Raven settled into her bed.

“You’re planning something.”

“Who? Me?”

“What was it that Mom said? I know that arched brow anywhere.”

Apple scoffed. “It's not arching, it’s raising.”

“Details,” Raven snorted. Soon they finished their nightly routine in peace and relative silence. When the two were now tucked in their bed covers, the older spoke.

“Can we agree to sleep here until the games end?”

“Hex, please. I don’t think I want to know what Mom and Dad are doing right now.”

“Probably making our younger sibli-“

“Raven!”

———

“Well, isn’t it the woman of the hour,” Silena laughed, appearing before Evilyn with her usual smile. Evilyn merely made a noise of acknowledgment before focusing back on the documents on her desk.

“Sheesh, and here I thought border patrol reports were tedious enough,” Silena sat on the nearest chair, taking a glance at the mountains of paperwork on Evilyn’s table.

“Considering I’ve been practically MIA the past few years, I’m not surprised at the amount.”

“I thought Dianna was regent in your stead.” Cheshire leaned against her hand.

Evilyn hummed in agreement. “She was and probably will be.”

Silena’s ears twitched and her smile turned into a frown. “What do you mean, will be?”

Evilyn arched one of her brows, finally making eye contact with Silena. “When I inevitably am sent back to the Mirror Realm.”

“The hex you mean you’re going back to that place,” Silena growled, leaning forward over the desk. “Don’t tell me you’re actually going to commit a crime this time?”

Evilyn laughed leaning back against her seat, her tone filled with deprecation. She turned to look at one of the pictures on the wall, this one in particular, a family portrait of her family.

“Do you really think Ever After will actually allow me to run free, Cheshire?”

“Dianna will make sure of it, Queen.”

“Will she?” Evilyn tilted her head. “What will be her justification if the jury decides that another catastrophe was my fault?” The Evil Queen shook her head. “She can’t do anything unless she reveals our secret.”

“That you have actually sacrificed resources and time for Ever After as their monarch’s consort?” Silena retorted. “That the Wicked Witch they’ve assumed was actually the benevolent King that so many in  Ever After revere and respect?" She gestured at the throne she is seating on. "Evilyn, the two of you are in positions of power! There has to be-

“And if the world knows that the Evil Queen and Snow White are secretly married, what do you think will happen?” Evilyn raised her voice, standing up to Silena’s level. “Ever After will never accept a future ruler who shares a bloodline with a villain. They won’t see past the Storybook’s decree and would sooner replace Snow with the Charmings or even the Beautys than have Apple or Raven ascend the throne. What of the work we’ve done to ensure fewer discrimination against those from outside Ever After’s borders?”

Silena growled. “Then fuck Ever After and their refusal to stray from the Storybook’s path.” She pointed a clawed finger at the map on the wall. “Avalon, Wonderland, the Moors, Atlantis, Gingerbread Land, the Land of the Giants, all the other nations have long since improved without the Storybook’s help. Why the hex are you still treating that stupid book as a God when you know better?”

“Because Dianna almost died when I kissed her back to life!”

Silena froze, stepping back from the desk. “What did you say?”

“Her heart had actually stopped beating when I tried to wake her,” Evilyn whispered.

“She had been awake for a few minutes before she collapsed again. I had to get Maleficent and Tarrant to help me restart her heart.”

“But she’s fine-

“There is a reason why she stopped practicing magic, Silena.” Evilyn gritted her teeth. “Remember when I said that she had potential for becoming a great mage? We had to use it all up to ensure Dianna lives.”

The Cheshire Cat’s eyes widened, having realized something. “Then that is why you started to-“

“Distance myself,” Evilyn nodded. “We almost broke up after she woke, but she managed to,” she paused her expression one of deep pain, “persuade me not to.”

“We made certain precautions, fulfilling our respective roles, reminding the public of our ‘animosity’, all of it was to ensure the Storybook doesn’t retaliate again.”

“Wait, hold up,” Silena interrupted. “How were you sure it was the Storybook’s doing? For all you know, the previous Snow Whites were also weakened after the curse.”

“No, they weren’t. If they were, they wouldn’t have been able to make the perfect Snow White.”

“What?”

“Do you think Apple or Raven not looking remotely like the ideal Snow White was just genetics? Then countless other Snow Whites would have varied from the tale’s description. Hex, so many Princes from different families, a few with all types of appearances yet they managed to father Snow Whites with the exact same characteristics? No, there is magic in their bloodline, one that ensures every Snow White has straight ebony hair, skin as white as snow, and lips as red as blood.”

“And you’re sure it’s the Storybook?”

“Unless an extremely powerful mage cursed their bloodline? Probably.”

“So you’re allowing yourself to be framed for committing crimes ranging from stealing to mass genocide because of an explanation you are not sure of?”

“What the fuck do you want me to do?” Evilyn shouted, throwing her arms up in the air. “Risk Dianna or even my daughters’ lives in hopes that the Storybook doesn’t kill them?”

“Raven is doing fine." Cheshire scoffed. "It’s been years and she still hasn’t been killed.”

“She signed the Storybook in Wonderland.”

“That wasn’t on the report.”

“It doesn’t matter,” the Evil Queen raised her voice. “I will gladly play my role if it means they are safe.“

“Fuck you, Queen.” Silena hissed, her flattened while her tail twitched. “What happened to martyrs are cowards?”

“Then I’m nothing but a spineless bastard.”

The two stared at each other before Evilin broke the trance and returned to her documents. Silena huffed, crossing her arms as she sat back down. They remained in silence until-

“You know, is it bad I was planning to tease you about how you and Snow’s night went after yesterday?”

“Ironically, I’d rather have had that conversation than this.”

But still, even with the tension, the Cheshire Cat couldn’t resist.

“So how was it?”

“I’m not telling you shit.”

———

“I fairy fucking knew it.”

Apple gasped and covered her dragon’s ears. “How dare you say that in front of a child?”

“But seriously Apple,” Cerise interrupted before holding back Raven from charging at Apple. “Babe, hush.”

“You don’t understand, Cerise,” Raven hissed. “Apple is playing with fire.”

“Aren’t we all?” Maddie giggled, sitting atop Crumpets and feeding him some treats.

“This is far beyond dragons.”

“Hey!” Apple exclaimed, her dragon blowing steam from their nostrils. “Levi is a dragon thank you very much.”

“The Leviathan is not just a dragon, Apple.”

“The what?” Darling asked curiously, her and Herowing approaching Levi who was sniffing curiously at Herowing.

“That is the Leviathan?” Hunter shouted as he urged Jinx to stand in front of Ashlynn and the Prince of Scales.

“Actually, Leviathan is a type of dragon. Levi,” Apple patted the light grey dragon’s head causing him to purr, “is a descendant of the one that became famous.”

“And you choose to ride Levi during the Dragon Games?!”

Apple sighed. She paused, thinking about her next words. She turned to Darling, who smiled reassuringly.

“Aren’t you tired of the constant pretending, Raven?”

Raven froze. Beside her, Cerise growled, muttering. “Why in Ever After is she talking about this right now?”

Raven could hear the whispers, not just from their fellow dragon riders, but to the other Ever After High students who were watching them in support.

Why is Apple…

“Don’t you remember what you said to me when you strayed from the Plan?” Apple stared directly at her, ignoring the shouts of confusion from the student body.

Apple, please-“

“Our plan was to slowly incite rebellion!” Apple hissed. “Not lead one.”

“You’re not the face.”

“But you are!” Apple shouted. “What in the fairy tale do you think I’ll do if you get hurt? Hex, Mom and Dad won’t like this at all.”

“It’s the only way.”

“You’re putting yourself in danger! Stop acting like a fucking martyr all the time please.”

“Apple-“

“Dad already got banished. I can’t lose you too!”

Raven widened her eyes. She slowly approached Apple who was now tearing up and hugged her closely. “No, sis, I’m still here.”

“I know that,” Apple returned the hug, full on bawling now. “But if you continue this path-“

“Apple, do you trust me?”

Apple blinked. She stepped back, staring at her sister in bewilderment. “Of course I do!”

“Then let me do this.” Raven linked their hands together. “Let me show Ever After that we have our own voices too.”

“Well, Raven.” Apple got down from Levi and approached her, reaching out with her hand. “Do you trust me?”

Raven looked at the hand offered to her. Eventually, she sighed and took it.

“With my whole life.”

“Then let me take the lead this time, sister.”

Gasps of confusion and shock sounded around the field. Fully supporting her sister, Raven nodded and watched as Apple took center stage.

“Yes, everyone, you heard correctly,” Apple raised her hand, which was still holding Raven’s. “I called Raven my sister because that is who she is to me, my biological sister.”

“What?” Briar spoke what was on the minds of most of the people in the field.

“Yes,” Apple spoke, turning to make eye contact with Raven. “Raven is the oldest daughter of Snow White,” and back to the crowd, “and I am the youngest daughter of the Evil Queen.”

Before anyone can interrupt, Apple continued on.

“Yes, Snow White and the Evil Queen are secretly married, meaning the one you all know as the King of Ever After, the one who has always made sure his kingdom sides with Ever After, is the same woman that was imprisoned in the Mirror Realm for false charges.” Apple made sure to make eye contact with most of the students, all of whom were processing what she just said.

“I know a majority of you are actively supporting or more inclined with the Rebel’s side and in fact,” Apple pointed towards herself. “I am too.”

“There is no shame in admitting you want or do not want the destiny placed upon you. We are our own people for crying out loud! Why can’t we decide our fates?” Sounds of dissent came from some of the Royals, most of them looking at Apple in horror. She turned towards them.

“My fellow Royals, I’m sorry for fooling you all for so long. I know some of you,” Apple turned to glance at Briar, “have already had your doubts but are too afraid of going against me. However, I too am not in favor of this.” She closed her eyes, trying to stop the tears forming. “I am sick and tired of having to watch my family suffer because some book created long ago dictated our lives. Aren’t you all sick of this too?” She gestured towards the crowd.  “Even if you are fine with your destiny, aren’t you a little bit disturbed that we have no control over our own lives?”

She pointed towards the horizon. “You may not know this but Ever After is the only nation in this world that actually follow the Storybook and frankly, the rest are all doing so much better than we are!” She turned to those she knew came from other regions.

The Wonderlandians who seemed to realize what she was planning and unawaredly helped her with certain parts of it were now cheering her on.

The fae people that have been discriminated by the fairies and pixies of Ever After due to their different magics and differences muttered, their expressions showing pride at what she had said about their nation. Apple made eye contact with their future leader, Faybelle Thorne, who was staring in veiled interest, the illusion of the fairy-like wings slightly flickering to resemble the feathers she inherited from her parents. For some reason, Farah Goodfairy was standing with her, which maybe that was a sign too? The dark fae and the fairy looked at each other, both seemingly deciding on something.

Near them as well was the Atlantean Princess Meeshell Mermaid, the only one of the Atlanteans here, peering from the corners curious at what Ever After’s Princess was suggesting. Meeshell was usually far reserved and a bit introverted. It took quite some time for Apple to gain her trust and friendship which allowed her to learn more about the nation bellow the waves.

But it wasn’t just them listening right? Apple looked beyond them to see those of Ever After, her people, both Royal and Rebel, were listening, their anticipation of what she was about to suggest present in all of them.

She risked a glance at her older sister, who was looking at her in admiration. Noticing her stare, Raven nodded, her hand tightening on hers.

They’re listening.

“Students of Ever After High!” Apple continued. “We have a voice! As your Princess, I would like to show you that we have the power to decide for ourselves if we want to follow what the Storybook foretold or if we want to make our own path. No one should be forced to be something they are not so I implore no, I beg of you for your help in saving our lives from the Storybook’s grasp and actually be able to rewrite our destinies.”

Silence was what greeted her afterwards. Apple tried not to show her nervousness for what kind of leader was she if she can’t mask her doubts? However, it was soon replaced by relief when the crowd of students cheered and raised their fists.

“Down with the Storybook!”

“Let our voices be heard!”

“Hail Princess Apple and Princess Raven!”

———

“The revolution has started, Your Majesty.”

Snow White frowned before glancing at the captain of Avalon’s soldiers.

“Oh?” She tilted her head curiously.

What did her precious little fruits have done this time?

“Princess Apple has stood with Crown Princess Raven, uniting the Royals and Rebels in a brilliant speech and has convinced the student body to work together and make their voices heard.”Luciel  paused before smiling. “They seem to be planning on making a move in the upcoming Dragon Games.”

The corners of her lips lifted upwards as she processed the information. Closing her eyes, she asked.

“Have there been a few individuals who don’t seem to be agreeing?”

“Quite a few, but from what our soldiers have heard, they seem to only be watching, not making moves to inform any of Ever After High’s faculty.”

“Monitor them closely,” Dianna ordered, joining her hands together and resting her head on them. “If they show signs of reporting what they heard to the Headmaster, find a way to stop them without hurting them.”

After all, they are still children, descendants born into families who have long believed the propaganda, like she once was.

Luciel nodded, leaving as he shouted orders to the men outside the room.

I do hope what you girls are planning will work. Dianna smiled to herself, remembering what she had told her girls a long time ago, the expressions of determination on their faces.

The people have lent their strength to you now, my dove and raven. Be what your father and I could not.

She looked at her ring finger, a clear morning dew stone in a golden band, a symbol of their commitment. She recalled a certain conversation a certain cat had started with her husband earlier, both beings unaware that she can hear them.

Silena is right, my belladonna. I will not let them bring you back to that awful Mirror Prison, even if it’s the last thing I’ll do as their Queen.

———

The stadium of Ever After High was filled to the brim with people, most from all corners of Ever After. Unbeknownst to them however, was the presence of people from the other nations, all who have heard what the winds have brought to their respective lands.

“Avalon’s princesses have made their move.” The winds seem to be whispering, welcoming the fresh breeze. “Go to Ever After. Join their stand.”

From a certain tower, the Dark Faerie smirked, the magic from her staff glowing green as puffs of it dissipated with the wind.

“I can’t believe those girls have grown up,” beside her, Diaval was leaning against the wall, his talon wiping a tear from his eyes.

“Evilyn and Dianna raised them well.”

“But the question is,” Claude has his hand on the hilt of his sheathed sword, clearly dressed for battle. “Will they succeed?”

Marie scoffed, some of her Card Soldiers lined up behind her. “Of course, they would. We all agreed that when the girls gain the next generation’s trust, we’d gladly aid them.”

“But how are we sure that this would work?” Lucas Badwolf crossed his arms. Beside him, Ruby Hood donned her favorite cloak, a red coat with fur from the numerous hunts her family have participated in.

“We’ll just have to hope it does.”

“Oh come now,” Tarrant Hatter smiled unnervingly, his staff/walking cane in his hands. “Aren't you all excited about changing the world?"

"For the better?' Silena asked, looking at the stage, where the Dragon Games are about to start. "Or for the worse?"

———

"Apple," Snow White calmly spoke, "Dumpling," she gestured at her daughter's stead. "Are you serious?"

"But, Mom," Apple exclaimed, holding Levi's face. "He needs exercise."

Snow White shot a glare at the Evil Queen, which quickly softened when she realized the woman was looking around, confused at the number of Avalon's soldiers stationed in the stadium. She had no doubt seeing her brother near her probably clued her in that something was going on.

"Riders!" Headmaster Grimm shouted. "To your stations!"

Snow White turned to look at her team. Her daughter, Raven, was not surprised by the presence of Levi nor were any of the others. Looking at the other team, the same can be said about them. She narrowed her eyes.

Maybe I should have asked what these two were actually planning...

All the dragons flew above, their riders posed in anticipation. In the center, the ball was floating, Apple White and Raven Queen facing each other from the other side.

"On your mark! Get set..." Anticipation and tension filled the air as everyone waited for the bell.

"Go!"

Before anyone can respond, Levi flicked his tail and passed the ball to the blurred form of Cerise atop Braebyrn, who was quickly followed by Lizzie Hearts and Hunter Huntsman.

Shouts sounded around as Daring rode Legend, who was blocking the way forward to the goal.

Once Breabyrn moved closer, Darling steered Herowing to fly above the two. Noticing this, Cerise looked down and dropped the ball. Everyone watched as the ball fell towards Ashlyn Ella, who was holding a hat to catch the ball which-

"First point goes to Team Black!"

Looking back, Daring saw Maddie, who was seated upside down on Crumpets' belly, holding her hat towards the ring, while laughing.

"Ohohohohoho!" Tarrant laughed, leaning on his cane. "Good show, Maddie dear!"

"Well, they are playing with magic and tricks allowed," Silena grinned, tempted to go down on the stage to see the game in a more personal level.

The ball fell into Briar's hands. With a nod, she urged Brushfire to fly forward, Darling and Hunter on her heels.

When Ashlynn flew beside her, Briar smirked. "Nice hat!"

Ashlynn smiled, holding the hat towards her. “Why don't you shoot it here?"

"Hmm," Briar hummed. "Let me think." She held out the ball in the air, which disappeared.

"Oops. No ball."

The ball appeared in Raven's hands, who was quickly being followed by Cerise and Lizzie.

Nevermore dashed foward, heading for the goal. Before he can move closer, Raven urged him to swerve backward as the air flickered and Apple appeared atop Levi, who flew by where Nevermore should have been.

"Really?" Raven shouted as Apple giggled. "I thought that would work," Apple watched as Cerise dropped on top of Nevermore and stole the ball from Raven's hands.

"What the-"

"Sorry, babe," Cerise shouted as she jumped down, Braebyrn heading towards her. Before she can land on her dragon, a card appeared below her, causing her to land on it and hold on as the card sped forward, forcing her to let go of the ball, which Lizzie caught. Croquet made a noise of excitement as Lizzie urged her to fly towards the unguarded goal and shoot.

"A point to Team White!"

The crowd cheered. Everyone fully invested in the tactics the dragon riders were using.

"Wow! What were those tricks?"

"Didn't you know? Those Wonderlandians always have a trick up their sleeve."

"That's my girl!" Marie screamed, a portrait of Lizzie in her Wonderlandian outfit being raised by one of her Card Soldiers.

"What's with the portrait?"

"We may be going to war but I am a mother and I'm supporting my child, of course!"

Cerise dropped down on Braebyrn, who seemed sorry that she wasn't able to catch her. Cerise patted her head and urged her to go towards the ball.

As she moved towards the other side of the field, Apple flew beside her.

"Are you okay?!"

"Never been better." She passed the ball towards Apple, who flew upwards, quickly being followed by Darling and Raven.

"Just because you're using Levi, doesn't mean you're winning," Raven spoke, Nevermore keeping up with the Leviathan.

"I know," Apple smiled. "You're determined that way." She risked a glance to the side.

"Darling," Apple smiled sweetly. "Move away."

"No," Darling responded, blocking her view.

Apple sighed. Before Raven and Darling can react, a shrill sound came from below, causing Herowing and Nevermore to flinch, which was all Apple needed to get away from them and pass the ball to Hunter.

"Never underestimate the power of nature!" Hunter shouted, winking at Ashlynn, who had her fingers on her lips, having just whistled.

"Wow! What kind of sound was that?"

"I heard it's a tactic the Moors used to alert their allies."

"It's quite similar to what the scouts use, but it seems targeted."

"Apparently, the fae people of the Moors are able to directly call specific creatures. Although, how did it not affect the dragons of Team Black?"

"A fae war signal..." Diaval noted.

"It can't be a coincidence." Maleficent replied, narrowing her eyes as she sensed fae magic within the field.

From below, the fae worked their magic across the earth. Currently leading them, Faybelle Thorne summoned vines and branches that would support the cave systems built. Beside her Farah Goodfairy lead fairies and pixies to help, while Meeshell Mermaid sang a song to speed up the process.

"First time I've seen nature magic this up close." Farah smiled, her wand glowing and illuminating the cave.

Faybelle laughed, her eyes gleaming with approval as the mystic magic of the fairies and pixies along with the siren song helped sped up the growth of vines.

"Maybe it's about time our people start trading information and working together then."

Rumpelstilskin frowned. Beside him, Baba Yaga seemed disturbed. Dr. Charming looked at them, confused. "Rumple, Yaga, what's wrong?"

Baba Yaga urged them to step backstage before saying. "The air is thinning."

Trollsworth frowned, sniffing the air. "You're right. But how?"

Baba Yaga shook her head. "I don't know. But someone must inform the Headmaster." The White Queen looked towards an Avalonian soldier, urging them to come forward.

"Please inform the Headmaster about the situation."

The Avalonian nodded before leaving the faculty by themselves. Before they reached the stage, they turned to look, noticing that no one can see them, they moved towards Luciel Huntsman.

"Captain," they spoke. "Your Majesty," they nodded towards the Evil Queen, who was staring at the field and tilted her head in acknowledgement.

"Ah, Chairon," Luciel smiled, patting the armored soldier. "I take it the frogs have gone to the lake?"

Chairon nodded. "They are croaking."

Luciel's eyes glimmered with amusement. "Then you know what to do."

Chairon bowed and left. When Luciel stepped forward to his sister's side, he whispered.

"It's been a while, Vil."

The Evil Queen glanced before focusing back on the game. "I thought you're supposed to be guarding against me?"

Luciel chuckled, placing his hands on his back. "I thought you should know, something is a foot."

"No shit," Evilyn muttered under her breath. When her team scored another goal, she turned towards him. "What is Snow planning?"

"I'm afraid it is not her who is doing anything."

Evilyn frowned, looking back as Apple and Raven flew together, blocking the other from receiving the ball. She crossed her arms as both teams continued to showcase powers and skills not taught in Ever After, but from the other nations.

Wonderlandian tricks, fae magic, giant tools, and- was that Atlantic acrobatics? How on the Storybook were the Charming siblings able to accomplish that?

Her eyes narrowed as the people cheered at what was shown to them, all of them seemingly... curious? She could hear the whispers, people from the other nations informing them of their culture.

"So the Moors was able to create technology that relies on nature's functions? I always thought the numerous machines might soon affect the environment but there's actually a nation that managed to circumvent such things"

"And did you see the craftsmanship of those tools? Who knew those giants were good with their hands."

"Wow! Such battle tactics! The King should have soldiers of Ever After collaborate with the ones of Avalon."

Raven and Apple White-Queen...

"They're quite the pair are they not, Vil?" Luciel stared as the scores started to tie with one another.

"Reminds me of us when we were younger."

Evilin snorted, covering her face from the audience's view. "You mean when you helped me fight for the throne?”

Luciel loudly laughed, gaining the curious looks from people near them. "You're so funny, your Majesty! Yes, we, your soldiers, are doing well!"

Evilin arched a brow as gasps of shock came from audience members near them.

Notably, the students seemed unfazed.

"What did Lu say?" Claude asked, trying to read what the Huntsman of Avalon said to cause the nearest audience members to whisper among themselves and for the Headmaster to gape at him.

"Does it look like we'll be able to hear with the cheers of the crowd and the various stuff happening in the game?"

"Must be good if Milton Grimm is approaching them."

"Captain Luciel!"

"Oh dear," Luciel exaggeratedly sighed, turning towards the Headmaster, followed by his brother Giles, who was trying to calm him.

"Milton, deep breaths."

"Did you not hear what this soldier has said?!' He shouted. "He called the Evil Queen, Your Majesty!"

"Am I wrong?" Luciel blinked. "Also, Headmaster, I believe you would know the 'Evil Queen' by a different title."

"Luciel..." Evilyn warned.

"Headmaster!" Milton turned to see Dr. Charming and Dylan Charming charging towards him.

"What?"

"Well..." Dr. Charming tried to discretely tell him but Dylan beat him to it.

"The amount of Fairy Dust is increasingly decreasing in the air!"

Shocks of gasp came from the crowd.

"Fairy Dust? What’s that?”

"Why would Ever After have Fairy Dust in our air?"

"Why is the decrease a bad thing?"

From the other side of the stage, Snow White noticed the commotion.

"Now what on Ever After is going on here?" She moved towards Luciel, whose face turned serious.

"Your Majesty," Luciel bowed. "Forgive me for only saying this right now, but my soldiers have long since noticed something off with the air."

"Oh?" She turned towards Milton, who seemed to be blanking on what to say. Beside him, Giles was whispering to the Charmings. "What do you mean there is Fairy Dust in the air?"

"Yes," He said. "Almost all of my men have weakened once they entered Ever After's borders. Out of respect, I only thought they have not been able to adapt to Ever After's environment. However, it only increased when we entered Ever After High.  I had mentioned this once to the Headmaster," he glanced at the man, who wisely kept silent, "who waved off my concern. I mentioned this to our princesses, who ordered me to investigate the matter since it seems Princess Apple had lost her magic when she stepped foot on Ever After High."

"What the hex? The princess has magic?"

"A magical Snow White? Ever After will flourish."

"Wait? Didn't you hear what the Captain said? We have multiple princesses?"

"Wait!" Blondie Locks moved closer, Ever After High's famous journalist, bowing before the queens and the Captain. "With respect to Captain Luciel, may I ask a few questions?"

Luciel quirked an eyebrow. He watched as the Dragon Riders seemed to land back on stage, the game seemingly have stopped. With a look from his nieces, he nodded towards the daughter of Goldilocks. "You may, Ms. Locks."

"Hexellent!" Blondie beamed, the mirror boards above the stands live streaming what is happening onstage.

"Good day Ever After! I'm your host, Blondie Locks, here to interview our ever honorable Captain Luciel!" She smiled as Luciel blew a kiss on cam, causing several audience members to faint.

"Aaaaahhhh! He's so fair and handsome!"

"Why hello Ever After!” He smiled, flipping his pale blonde hair. “It is I, your ever loyal hunter in purple robes!”

Out of the mirror’s view, Evilyn faked gagged, which caused Dianna to shake her head fondly, a smile on her face.

”Captain Luciel,” Blondie Locks spoke, her voice one of curiousity. “Is it true that some of your soldiers have began to weaken when entering Ever After?”

Luciel nodded, a pained expression on his face. “Yes, Ms. Locks. I have even sent some of my men back to Avalon to recover.” A determined look quickly replaced his previous expression. “But rest assured Ever After, most of us remain fulfilling our duties.”

”And what are those?”

”Why to protect the citizens of our Majesties of course.” He winked into the camera, causing quite a few squeals.

”Ahh! Are all Avalonian men this charming?”

”I take back what I said, I too would leave a Charming to marry someone that beautiful.”

”What the fuck is he doing?”

Silena scoffed, ruffling her cousin’s hair. “Just because you can’t lion up and confess doesn’t mean you get to be jealous every time Ciel charms the masses.”

“And we thank you and all the people under your command for your service,” Blondie smiled. “What does this relate to what Prince Dylan said about Fairy Dust?”

”You see Ms. Locks. Avalon’s ancestors where creatures from all the nations which makes us easily weakened by anything unnatural in the air and what is more against nature than the very drug that once plagued Wonderland?”

”And there is Fairy Dust in Ever After’s atmosphere?” Blondie gasped. “But why?”

”That is what I do not know.” He gestured towards Milton Grimm, who had an unpleasant expression on his face.

”But it seems your Headmaster may know about this considering when I brought it up not once, but twice when the researchers of Ever After Institute produced findings of abnormally large amounts of Fairy Dust in the air, he ignored what I said and accused me of making up excuses for my soldier’s inadequacy.”

Shouts of protest sounded around the field.

”We’ve been breathing that?”

“I coughed a while ago. Does that mean I’m infected?”

”Quick! Someone check if I’ve actually gone mad!”

As for those not from Ever After’s borders, they too whispered among themselves.

”Damn, no wonder I felt dizzy.”

”Ever After has been breathing in that stuff?”

”Doesn’t the dust attack a person’s brain, limiting and weakening their mental faculties?”

”Where the fuck does the Fairy Dust come from?”

“Headmaster Grimm,” Blondie turned towards Milton. “What do you have to say?”

”He is making up lies!” Milton bellowed, pointing towards the Captain. “Do not be fooled by his fair looks, that man called the Evil Queen as ‘her Majesty’, clearly his loyalty to Avalon and Ever After is to be questioned!”

”And yet he seems to have proof.”

Apple approached, riding atop Levi, who was growling at the Headmaster.

”Apple,” Milton began, watching in disbelief as Raven followed, riding atop Nevermore.

Luciel saluted. “Princess Apple.”

Apple nodded towards him. “Captain Luciel, how was the investigation we ordered?”

“Our mages have detected the origin of the Fairy Dust,” he gestured, only for a few soldiers to bring out-

“The Storybook of Legends?”

”Well, to be more precise, a thick veil of Fairy Dust seems to be enveloping the book.”

”That is to prevent anyone from stealing it.”

”So you do admit,” Blonde frowned. “Headmaster Grimm, there is truly Fairy Dust in the air and that is because of the Storybook of Legends?”

The Headmaster pursed his lips, thinking carefully on how he was supposed to respond. “Yes.”

He raised his hands when the crowd began to protest. “But Ever After, surely it is worth the price of protecting the Storybook, the very thing that ensures order is maintained on our great nation?” He turned to Snow White, whose expression was unreadable.

”Your Majesty, I am acting in Ever After’s benefit.” He gestured towards the other faculty members. “We all are!”

”How were you able to get the Fairy Dust to protect the Storybook?”

Milton’s eyes glimmered in hope. He gestured for Baba Yaga and Rumplestiltskin, who stepped forward to explain how they managed to produce Fairy Dust and control it.

”If that is the case…” Snow White muttered. Before she can say anything, Lizzie Hearts interrupted.

”Then wait, Baba Yaga, you said you and the rest of the faculty were able to control the Fairy Dust?”

Baba Yaga nodded.

”Then why didn’t Ever After help Wonderland when we were being forced to inhale it?” Lizzie cried out, pointing her staff towards the Headmaster.

”Headmaster Grimm, you were the one who was reluctant in having me and my people take refuge in Ever After. If you didn’t want us around, shouldn’t you be helping us to reclaim our land?”

“I-well,” He looked towards the other faculty members, all of whom were not looking him in the eye, except his brother Giles who seemed to have realized something.

“The rhyming disease,” Giles stared at him in horror. “Did you use Fairy Dust to curse me while I was under the library catacombs so I can’t tell anyone the Storybook was missing?”

“Holy Hydra! The Storybook went missing?!”

“Why was this never said in the news?”

“What do you mean Master Giles was cursed?”

“Ooooh! This is getting fun!”

Everyone turned towards the top of the stage, where sat the Cheshire Cat and Puss in Boots, both of whom were smiling.

“Hey, cousin! Weren’t you the one who found the Storybook in Wonderland?”

The Cheshire Cat grinned, leaning against the statue. “Hmmm, now that I think about it, I did gift a similar looking book to the Queen.”

Raven whispered to Apple. “I thought we weren’t involving our parents.”

Apple shook her head. “I’m pretty sure the Cheshires have a radar for chaos so maybe that’s it?” She cleared her throat and shouted.

“You mean the book that corrupted Courtly Jester was the Storybook?!”

“The book can corrupt someone?”

“What kind of symbol of order is that?”

“Hmm, perhaps,” the Cheshire Cat pouted, placing her claws on her forehead, seemingly about to faint. “To think I gave that to the Queen! Thank Chaos, she gave it back to Ever After or else Fairy Dust will continue to spread to our nation!”

“There was no Fairy Dust on the Storybook of Legends!” Milton snapped, pointing towards the Evil Queen. “If she hadn’t stolen the book, we wouldn’t have had to place Fairy Dust to protect it!”

“And what pray tell is your proof that I stole the Storybook of Legends?” The Evil Queen scoffed, crossing her arms. “Last I held that thing was during Legacy Day.”

“And we’re supposed to believe you?” Dylan Charming pointed his sword. “You who wielded Fairy Dust to curse Wonderland?”

Before he can move closer, another sword clashed with his.

“Step away, Third Prince.” Luciel gritted his teeth.

“See!” Milton Grimm pointed towards the Huntsman. “He protects an enemy of the nations.”

“I don’t know about you but I’m sure I never labeled the Evil Queen as an enemy of Wonderland.”

“Nor was she an enemy of the Moors.”

On the field emerged hundreds of Card Soldiers, all of whom who stood at attention as the Queen of Hearts stepped on the stage. Above them, the Dark Faerie hovered, a raven flying with her.

“Marie?” Snow White asked in disbelief as the Queen of Hearts approached her daughter’s side. “I thought you were in Wonderland.”

“Oh come now Dianna, do you really think we wouldn’t come for the return of an old friend?” The Dark Faerie descended into the stage, the Raven landing on her staff. She walked towards the Evil Queen.

“For a fae descendant who spent years in the Mirror Realm, you seem to be doing well, Evilyn.”

“Maleficent,” the Evil Queen greeted, turning to the bird. “Diaval.”

The Raven cawed, bowing in respect.

“Fae descendant? So the Evil Queen is actually descended from the fae folk?” Blondie asked. Luciel smiled., wrapping an arm around Evilyn’s waist. “Of course! My half sister may not be full fae like me but she is still one of us!”

“Half sister?”

“Captain Luciel is related to the Evil Queen?”

“So it’s highly impossible for her to be the one to spread Fairy Dust to Wonderland.” He smiled towards the crowd before tilting his head towards the Headmaster.

“However, we all just established that there are quite a few someones here who can wield the stuff.”

“What are you implying?” Dylan Charming stared daggers at the Huntsman.

“Oh nothing really. But isn’t it quite curious that you hold the key to helping Wonderland yet you refuse to offer it?”

“If anything,” Raven Queen crossed her arms. “You banned anyone from going to Wonderland.”

“So you know the severity of Wonderland’s situation and despite having the tools to help us, you stand by and do nothing?” The Queen of Hearts glared, her daughter nodding right beside her, as the Card Soldiers raised their spears in dissent.

“And yet you think it is the Evil Queen who should be an enemy of Wonderland?” The Cheshire Cat teleported right next to them, Kitty Cheshire appearing as well alongside the Mad Hatter. “Honestly, that doesn’t seem fair.”

“She was the one who cursed you all!” Milton reminded them.

“She offered asylum to some of my people, including the Mad Hatter and his family.” The Queen of Hearts retorted.

“Yeah, why do you think me and Raven are such good friends?” Maddie leaned against Crumpets who moved a little bit closer to Nevermore.

“Indeed,” the Mad Hatter spoke. “I may be a bit mad and a wild card, but I would not have allowed my daughter to be friends to a direct descendant of an enemy.”

“But didn’t she use her magic to change the skies of Wonderland?”

“Oh that old thing?” The Queen of Hearts turned to the direction of the Evil Queen.

“Don’t tell me that’s the reason you allowed them to banish you into the Mirror Realm?”

The Evil Queen crossed her arms, refusing to say anything.

“On my throne, it is, isn’t it?”

“Coward,” Silena muttered.

“I’m not about to reveal what happened that night, thank you very much.”

The Queen of Hearts sighed. “For now, what we’ll say is that event was between us.” She turned to the Headmaster. “And as far as I’m concerned, I did not request aid regarding that. The Fairy Dust issue, however?” She waved her hand. “Quite a few petitions for help.”

“And if I recall correctly,” the Dark Faerie added. “I suggested you let custody of the Evil Queen to me, since you were so convinced she committed a crime.”

“And why should we let the Moors handle it?” Dylan Charming sneered. “For all we know, you’d help her considering you’re you know, the Dark Faerie.”

Maleficent laughed. “I keep forgetting how isolated Ever After is.” She gestured towards herself. “Ever After may know me as the Dark Faerie, the villain to Sleeping Beauty’s tale. But to the other nations?” She chuckled before raising her staff and destroying the fairy tale illusion on her, showcasing her horns and the raven-like wings behind her back.

“The Moors is a place of judgement, where nature reveals all information and secrets, the perfect place for trials.” The Dark Faerie’s eyes glowed in piercing green. From the field, vines and branches started to form. Surprisingly, the plants seemed to glow with the light, akin to that of…

The Headmaster stared as pixies seemed to be riding the branches.

But that is impossible, the Good Fairy said she- He glanced at the side to see Farah Goodfairy emerged alongside Faybelle Thorne and Meeshell Mermaid.

“I wonder Milton Grimm, if you were sent to a trial in the Moors, would you be proven innocent? Or would the thorns in your branches reveal how guilty you truly are?”

“Yeesh, can you do that too?” Briar whispered to Faybelle.

“If I want to, sure,” Faybelle responded, staring as her mother commanded the pixies as if they were her people.

“Damn. You should do it more often.” Briar muttered, leaning to whisper in her ear.

“I’d probably listen to you more,” which caused the daughter of the Dark Faerie to blush, her bluish cheeks appearing dark grey.

“While the two of you are my friends, can the both of you stop flirting?” Farah gestured towards the stage.

“Wait what?” Faybelle turned to her confused.

“What?”

“You said we are friends.”

“Aren’t we?” Meeshell tilted her head. “I thought that was the olive branch you gave us?”

Faybelle turned to look at Briar who only raised an eyebrow.

“What? I’m not gonna be jealous because my girlfriend finally has girl friends.”

“We’re girlfriends?”

“Guilty?”

“Wait, so the Headmaster is the one who spread Fairy Dust to Wonderland and now Ever After?”

“For the earcast listeners,” Blondie clarified. “We just saw the Dark Faerie reveal her true form, an angel of death ready to deliver justice to the Headmaster.” She pointed the mic towards Milton Grimm. “Headmaster Grimm, what is your response? Have you truly been spreading Fairy Dust, a dangerous substance, to Wonderland and Ever After?”

The Headmaster remained silent, despite the pleading looks from the faculty. Seeing as the Headmaster wasn’t saying anything, the White Queen shouted.

“They were not following destinies!” She pointed towards the Queen of Hearts. “You are supposed to be a dictator yet the people of Wonderland adore you!”

The Queen of Hearts raised an eyebrow. “Are you serious?”

“You are the villain!” The White Queen hissed. “I was supposed to be Alice’s mentor not you.”

“But you were my mother’s mentor,” Alistair frowned. “You thought her all about how Wonderland works?”

“And yet she allies herself with the Queen of Hearts? And so it seems the Mad Hatter, even though our tale said you’re supposed side with me.”

“So let me get this straight,” Lizzie Hearts approached the screaming queen. “You, Professor White Queen, helped the Headmaster spread Fairy Dust in hopes my mother and the rest of Wonderland acts like how we act in the tale?”

“It was supposed to make you obedient. I’m supposed to be their beloved queen.” She hissed.

Slap

Everyone gasped at the sight.

“Additionally, for earcast listeners, that loud sound you heard was Lizzie Hearts slapping the White Queen on the face!”

Lizzie bit her lip, before glaring at White Queen. “You want to be Wonderland’s Ruler and yet you would choose to endanger its people for your own personal gain?”

“And you!” She approached Milton Grimm who was backing away from the enraged princess.

“Ms. Hearts! Why would you slap your professor?”

“Because she clearly doesn’t deserve to be one!” Lizzie turned her ferocious glare back at the White Queen. “You taught us that princesses and queens should do what they must for their kingdom and yet you!”

She was about to pounce, when Kitty appeared and held her back.

“Okay sis, that’s enough.”

“Let me go, chaton!”

“Lizzie dear,” Lizzie turned to see her maman, also holding back her snarling mom.

“Let me claw her eyes out, cherie!”

“Non.” She turned to look at the White Queen and sighed. “If you wanted the throne of Wonderland, I would have given it to you.”

The White Queen widened her eyes. “What?”

“I’m only became queen because you left Wonderland to reach for greater heights in Ever After.” She glared at her. “When you left, I had to step up, even though everyone in Wonderland was expecting you to lead us while I was the titular eccentric queen. So don’t blame me for your neglect, Anne.”

The Queen of Hearts pointed her staff at the White Queen. “Guards! Seize the White Queen and bring her back to Wonderland to stand for trial!”

Some of the Card Soldiers ascended the stage, dragging a wailing White Queen towards their main force.

“Your Majesty,” Milton Grimm was about to say only for her to glare at him.

“I should be dragging you as well.” She growled before turning to Snow White. “However, in honor of the King and Queen of  Ever After and Avalon’s aid, I will only bring the White Queen with me to Wonderland.”

Snow White sighed. “Would you like to request for an international trial?”

The Queen of Hearts smirked. “I believe Milton Grimm has more crimes with regard to Ever After so perhaps a Moor trial with all the charges of both nations should suffice.”

“Uhm, excuse me your majesties,” Farah Goodfairy interrupted, gaining everyone’s attention. “I believe this would involve all the other nations as well.”

“Oh?” The Dark Faerie crossed her arms. “Which nations did he infiltrate as well?”

“I did not-“

“Well, the investigation from the Institute clearly shows that most of the Fairy Dust is here in Ever After High.” She gestured towards Faybelle Thorne and Meeshell Mermaid. “Faybelle Thorne thought me and the fairies and pixies on how to remove it from the air while Meeshell Mermaid helped strengthen it by using her voice.”

“Let’s also not forget Meeshell fainting from the Fairy Dust when we encountered her.” Faybelle reminded.

“Ariel will not like this,” the Dark Faerie remarked.

“Nor would Agatha,” the Evil Queen whispered.

“Want to help the Sea Witch place a hex on them?”

“Gladly.”

“Additionally,” Captain Luciel stepped forward. “It appears that even our princesses were affected as well plus the citizens who are currently in the Institute.”

“Let us also not forget that almost each nation has a child in Ever After High.” Giles spoke, before glaring at his brother.

“Now listen here,” Milton Grimm pleaded. “I only did it so that we’d have a powerful weapon against enemies from different nations.” He turned to the audience. “Ever After surely you are aware that in terms of power, Ever After is at a disadvantage. That is why we created the Fairy Dust! To ensure people follow their destinies and as a weapon to contain criminals.”

“Biological warfare,” the Evil Queen spoke out loud. “Impressive.”

Milton glared at her. “It was a necessary evil to protect the world from people like you.”

“Ah! Another charge!” Luciel pointed towards Milton Grimm. “He admitted trying to harm my sister.”

“For someone who is supposed to serve Queen Snow White, you seem attached to her nemesis.” Milton remarked.

“Well, she is my sister.”

“And yet you serve Queen Snow White?” Blondie tilted her head.

“Why of course! My dearest sister, the Ruler of Avalon, wouldn’t allow her consort to be unprotected while she is away now would she?” Luciel winked at Evilyn who was staring at him in disbelief.

Everyone gasped.

“Impossible!” Dylan Charming shouted. “Queen Snow White would never marry a woman much less the one who cursed her.”

“But she would marry the one who kissed her back to life won’t she?” Luciel shoot a glare at the whining prince then, he looked at Snow White.

“If you don’t believe me, then ask her Majesty.”

“There is no need for that, Luciel,” Snow White smiled, stepping forward to join them.

“Well, Evilyn? Are we finally done with this whole farce? Because honestly I’m pretty sure the children don’t like it when we fight.” She gestured towards Apple and Raven who  were looking at them expectantly.

“Snow…” Evilyn stared into those sky blue eyes she would give the world to. When she finally realized what this whole thing meant, she chuckled, placing a hand on her head dress.

“Dianna, aren’t you quite devious.” She arched her brow, a genuine smile playing one her lips.

“Isn’t that what endeared me to you, Queen?” Dianna smirked.

The Evil Queen sighed. With a wave of her wrist, the head dress on her head disappeared leaving shoulder-length pale blonde hair it was almost white tied in a ponytail. On the side of her face, the familiar crow mask that has been long associated with the King of Avalon was set. Her trademark outfit turned into a similar outfit to Raven’s, only instead of a dress, she wore black leggings with violet engravings. On her left shoulder, a cloak of silver feathers similar to the armor of the soldiers and Raven’s shoulder pads appeared.

At the sight of their King, the soldiers saluted and bowed.

Evilyn approached Dianna, taking her hand and, before the masses, kissed it.

“Well played, Snow.” She genuinely smiled into her fingers.

“Holy hex! Are you guys seeing this?”

“No way, the Evil Queen is actually our King?”

“Oh my fairy tale! Enemies to lovers yuri is real!”

“So what do you say, husband of mine?” Dianna grinned. “Time to stop pretending?”

Evilyn sighed. “Well if that’s the case,” she flicked her wrist which caused most of the faculty, except Giles Grimm and Lucas Badwolf, to be bound in chains.

“Luciel,” she commanded, causing her right hand man to grin.

“Yes your Majesty?”

Evilyn stared at the faculty of Ever After and spoke. “Seize these criminals for harming not only our daughters, but our citizens.”

“And their King,” Dianna added, whispering to Evilyn. “We’re talking about how,” she paused turning to a sulking Silena. “What was the word Silena said? Ah yes, a coward you are.”

Evilyn sighed waving her hand at Luciel.

“Gladly,” Luciel whistled causing a few of the Avalonian soldiers to step forward.

“For your crimes against our nations and the orders from both our King and Queen, you all are detained until your trials.”

“Wait so your mom is the masc one in the relationship?” Briar whispered to Raven, who only looked at her. “We literally refer to her as Dad?”

“Honestly, I assumed both of them are feminine leaning with the whole ‘fairest of all’ bit.”

“She literally goes by male titles?”

“Which we only learned recently,” Briar crossed her arms, huffing. Beside her, Ashlynn sighed. “But seriously you two, to think that both of you were carrying this since the first day.”

“Imagine knowing that they’re siblings and seeing them interact like they weren’t.“ Maddie  whisper-shouted.

“We’re used to it,” Apple smiled.

“But now we won’t have to, right little sister?”

“You are not calling me little sister while we’re in class.”
