“So, are you two still ‘dating?’”
Areum coughed on her water, lowering her head into her arm. A tiny wheeze escaped her throat just before she began pounding a fist against her own chest in an effort to try and clear up some of the water that ended up going down the wrong way first, if anything.
But seriously though, really? She had already explained what had happened to both Yujin and Gyeo-ul the moment they had found them, at one of the worst times she could have imagined, may she add. And here was Yujin, the one who took it quite well and even teased her a little bit afterwards. But as it seems, she still wanted to probe the matter. More or less, it was like she was beating the house while it was down. It wasn't as though she was getting prissy in any way whatsoever about the fact it was brought up once again; she just assumed that the topic was already done and over with.
Well, especially the whole jar situation. She was sure they'd take a little moment to rest up and recuperate after such events. She herself particularly wanted to as well; she hadn’t taken a long nap like she wanted to in ages.
Areum took a small glance over at Yujin, who had a teasing little grin plastered onto her face.
Still, she'd indulge in Yujin’s question. Because more often than not, her mouth ran before she could even think about it.
“No, we aren’t. We never even dated at all.” Her gaze drifted back downward to her own bottle again in a way of ignoring how she was able to feel Yujin’s eyes burning into the side of her head.
“...Really,” the ravenette murmured quietly.
Areum nodded silently whilst she watched as Yujin pulled her arms up and behind her head.
Even after her answer, Areum was well aware of the feeling of a burning gaze from a specific pair of scarlet eyes searing marks into the side of her head. Nevertheless, she simply decided not to comment on it—nor give any indication that she knew that Yujin was even staring. Though she wouldn’t need to say she did anyway. That was Yujin’s intention, of course. So, she’d allow her to do so until the moment passes.
“Okay, so what about Ha Younggi? That cutie? What do you think of him?” Yet another question spilled out of Yujin’s mouth as she stared at her very expectantly. And as for Areum, she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck rising.
“...Not him either. I don’t feel anything romantic towards him.” Her answer was brief, and she hoped that was enough to appease Yujin. However, she felt like her answer was way too short for Yujin’s standards. Regardless of that, it was really all she could reply with. She really hadn’t felt anything towards him, except for a small feeling of embarrassment and flusteredness when she recalled her dream about his confession. Even so, there was nothing more to it. And especially given the new perspective that Yujin had offered in place of what she previously believed, it felt more intrusive to know that Younggi was waiting to confess to someone else.
Still, this little questionnaire of hers had left her throat feeling dry for some reason. But frankly, it was probably because of the scrutinizing pressure of Yujin’s gaze on her. It wasn't like she was seriously worried or anything about this whole situation, but it was simply the fact that Yujin just so happened to be a master of provoking emotions from her—even if her reactions were minor. But, it was still a reaction. And a reaction was a reaction, nevertheless.
Areum fully turns her head over to stare at the other girl, being drawn over to the sound of Yujin’s loud sigh.
The ravenette’s arms are sprawled out across the glass surface of the table before she tucks her head into her arms. As she eyes her, Yujin stares back, and the other girl presses her bottom lip out into a pout. Though, from the angle she was staring from, she could see the corners of her lips are just slightly quirked upwards.
Were her answers really that amusing to her? No, probably not. Well, at least she hoped not.
Areum swallowed, even with the very obvious lack of saliva in her mouth. Her eyes ever so slightly narrowed as she focused on Yujin’s resting figure.
The light-haired brunette pressed her lips into a thin line, setting the bottle of water she had been holding onto for so long down onto the table. And in the hopes of pacifying whatever Yujin’s current attitude is, she scoots herself just a tad bit closer to the ravenette. As both of them steal glances at each other, Areum can’t help but feel just a little anxious at how quiet the usual Cheshire was. Then again, it wasn’t like… Yujin had an inability of being quiet and brooding; it was quite the contrary, actually. But when it came to situations just like now, it never felt like it fared too well in her favour. She simply wished that Yujin would listen to the silent cue. But she never did in such casual settings, did she? Yujin only did such actions around the three of them for the hell of it.
And now, it seems like she’d have to speak up again, even if it was only for Yujin’s amusement.
“...Aren’t you gonna move?” She spoke. The sound of her voice as she spoke ended up coming out much… meeker than she had anticipated. And just as she expected, yet another grin found its way onto Yujin’s face. Areum turns her head away from the direction of Yujin’s figure before the sound of Yujin’s giggle reaches her ears. She can feel the way her brows arch in discontent with the noises of her little snicker. And… she can also see how Yujin covers her mouth with the tips of her fingers to hold her giggles back from the corner of her eye.
“I guess it isn’t good to keep a girl waiting, right?” Yujin remarks as she pushes herself up and off the glass table. And she’s staring at Yujin again.
Areum’s jaw clenches ever so slightly, nails digging into the couch’s cushion.
Yujin, on the other hand, seemed to be quite pleased with the invitation. The ravenette scoots right to her side and meets Areum in the middle. Areum doesn’t need to look Yujin’s way to see what kind of expression was already fixed onto her face. However, she does so anyway.
As always, it’s that cheerful expression of hers as she cozies up into Areum. “It’d be a problem if you started dating during this time anyway,” Yujin laughs. She feels her head being unwillingly pushed over to make room for Yujin’s own head as she lies against her shoulder. And Areum adjusts her head to stare down at the girl, who seems to be content being snug against her.
Areum slightly straightens herself out so that she wouldn’t be slouching against the couch with her back pressed straight up against the surface. And as Areum adjusted, so did Yujin. Now, Yujin’s head only leaned right against her upper arm, and she had snaked her arms around her own.
Eventually, Areum simply relents to Yujin with a soft sigh.
…Just like how she often finds herself doing more often than not.
