Chapter Text

Akito had planned this day for months now. It had to be perfect. 

He had gotten Toya to agree to go strawberry picking with him as a romantic outing. Well, it didn't take much convincing. Toya loved to go anywhere with his boyfriend. 

Akito had bought the ring box for a small amount of money at a mom-and‐pop shop, it being a fuzzy strawberry shaped box that had a hidden hing at the side.

You wouldn't be able to tell it was a box unless you inspected it closely.

Akito had found out Toya's ring size, and bought the ring.

It wasn't anything to flashy, a thin silver band with a small oval ruby in the middle. Akito knew that Toya didn't like diamonds that much, but he loved rubies. He hopes that Toya likes this ruby.

The two walk around the fields as As Akito fiddles with the box in his jacket, the cool autumn air grazing his cheek. He shivers.

Toya stops at a bush, picking a few strawberries and putting them in his basket. His smile is warm.

Akito feels his heart melt. Both he and Toya crouches down, placing their baskets next to each other as they grab more of the fruit.

They giggle and poke fun at each other, Akito pushes Toya slightly which makes him giggle.

They eventually stand up, grabbing their baskets as Akito's phone goes off. He checks the number.

"Ah, I need to take this. Sorry Toya." He answers the call as he starts to walk to the other side of the field.

Toya nods, knowing this call was probably for work.

He decides to look through his strawberries, but one in particular catches his eye. He furrows his brows, picking it up in his fingers.

He turns it side to side letting it fall into his palm. Why was it so fuzzy?

He notices a seam along the side of the strawberry. He cracks it open, the stone of the ring piercing his gaze.

His eyes go wide, dropping his basket, almost half of the strawberries tumbling out and onto the dirt.

"Oh my god." Toya says to himself. "Oh my god oh my god, oh my god."

He starts to push the fallen berries back into the basket as he places the ring box on the top. He stands back up, pulling his phone out of his pocket.

He dials Tsukasa's number, the line ringing for a moment before being picked up.

"Hello Toya!" The man exclaims. "Why are you calling me on this fine day?"

"Akito's going to propose." Toya says, eyes glued on the slightly different strawberry on the top layer of his basket. 

Toya can hear Tsukasa gasp, "SAKI!" He yells. "I NEED YOU QUICK."

Toya can hear a different, but still familiar voice behind the line. "What's wrong Tsukasa?"

"Akito'a going to propose to Toya!"

"WHAT?!?!"

Akito holds the phone to his ear with his shoulder as he searches through his basket of strawberries frantically. "Oh no, where is it... Where is it?"

Akito can hear An from across the line. Did you LOSE the FUCKING RING!?" She exclaims.

"I don't know!" He says. "Maybe I grabbed the wrong basket. I should go, Toya's probably getting worried." He says, voice shaking.

Akito makes his way back to where Toya is standing. He sees him hang up the phone with someone rapidly, shoving his hand in his pocket, grasping something.

Akito swallows. "Can I, uh, look through your strawberries?" He asks, knowing Toya is probably suspicious.

Toya nods as the shorter man bends at the knees, picking up and finding the ring box, a sigh of relief leaving his body.

He stands up, meeting Toya's eyes.

"So, uh... This went a little bit off of the rails, so I'm sorry about that." He chokes out a laugh, voice shaking. "So."

He hesitates for a moment before dropping down on one knee, seemingly less confident than be had planned.

"Aoyagi Toya. You have changed my life in ways I couldn't have been able to image before I met you." He opens up the ring box, revealing the ring inside. Toya covers his mouth with both of his hands. "Without you, I don't know where I'd be.

You know I've never been the best with words, but I'd try everything for you. I love you, which is why I'm asking. 

Will you marry me?"

Happy tears are turning down Toya's face as he wears a wide smile. He laughs, sniffing. "Oh, Akito."

He lowers himself onto the ground, pulling something out of his pocket. 

Akito lowers his arms, the strawberry ring box hanging in his hand.

Toya puts the box he had pulled out of his pocket into Akito's free hand urging him to open it.

Akito hands Toya his ring box as he opens Toya's, gasping as he sees a ring inside. It was a wide black band with a peridot heart in the middle inside of it.

Akito can feel the tears running down his cheeks as Toya laughs. "Yes." Toya says swiping his thumb across Akito's cheek.

Akito tackles Toya to the ground in a hug, the two both laughing in crying. "Yes, I say yes too." Akito laughs.

The two eventually sit up as Akito grabs his ring box off of the ground, opening it and grabbing the ring out from inside.

He slips it onto Toya's ring finger, pride filling his heart as he realizes Toya had said yes. And he had ment it.

He truly wanted this. Akito knew because Toya had the same idea as him.

Toya does the same, slipping Akito's new ring on as the two interlace their fingers.

"I love you so much Toya." Akito says, pulling Toya's hand closer to his heart.

"I love you too Akito."

The sun starts to set as the sky turns a beautiful pink and orange ombre.

The two meet each other in a warm kiss, happiness overflowing.

Chapter Text

Akito and Toya make their way into the Weekend Garage, a place that they and their friends —An and Kohane— have gone since they were just teenagers.

Akito bursts through the door as An starts to squeel.

"Heyyyyy you two!" She exclaims, wrapping them in an embrace. Kohane waves as she walks up to her, wrapping her arms around An's neck.

"Congrats you two!" She smiles, voice soft.

An jumps up and down in excitement, pulling everyone over to their usual booth.

Ken, An's father walks over. "The usuals?" He asks.

"Yes please!" They all say in unison.

An turns to Toya. "So....? Let's see the ring!"

Toya grins slightly, outstreching his hand to show An the stone that lays on his finger. An gasps lightly as she takes Toya's hand in her own, admiring the gem. "Woah." Her mouth hangs open slightly.

"Hey An." Akito says, jotting her out of her stupor. "Look at this."

Akito rests his hand next to Toya's, the peridot complimenting the ruby.

An shrieks, her father running out from the kitchen. "What's wrong!?" He says, worried.

"Sorry to worry you dad!" An waves her hands, "But they're getting married!" She points to Akito and Toya

Ken's mouth falls open, "Oh my god! Finally!" He crosses his arms. "Took you long enough! I'm going to go finish your guy's food and then tell me all about it."

Ken sets everyone's plates down as he pulls up a echair. "Okay. So who proposed?"

Akito and Toya turns to each other before turning back to Ken. "Both of us?" Akito says wearing an awkward smile.

Ken laughs, slamming his head on the table. "HAH! Oh, well who did it first?"

Toya shakes his head, "Technically, Akito."

Akito turns to Toya, "Wha'da'ya mean, technically?" He laughs.

"Well when did you get your ring?" Toya asks. "I personally bought yours back in May."

"May?" Akiot quirks an eyebrow. "I got yours back in February."

"Goodness." Kohane giggles. "You two both must have been very prepared."

"Not really." Akito says.

Toya shakes his head. "Very unprepared."

An laughs. "You two. Ah." She pauses. "Wait, who's going to take who's last name?"

Akito blinks. "Oh. I forgot about that..." He turns to Toya. "What do you want to do?"

Toya wrings his hands. "I think I would take your last name." He pauses. "It's the last real connection I have to my father now that I think about it."

Akito's eyes go wide, a gleam in them thay always makes Toya's heart melt. "Really?" He says like a kid who's just been told they're getting a puppy.

Toya nods. "Shinonome Toya. I think it has a ring to it." He egrabs Akito's hand.

An shakes Kohane in her seat. "AHHHHHHH THEY'RE SO CUTE I'M GONNA CRYYYYYY!" She whines.

Ken laughs.

"Oh my god." Akito says. "I haven't told Ena yet."

Kohane's eyes go wide. "You haven't told your sister yet? Call her, call her right now, Akito!"

Akito nods frantically, pulling out his phone. "I am, I am." The line rings for a few moments when she finally picks up.

"Wha'da'ya want nerd." She answers, tone sarcastic.

"Seriously?" Akito rolls his eyes. "Okay but like actually, this is big news."

"Okay, sorry." She says, Akito raising his eyebrows at the fact Ena had just told him sorry. "Whay's up?"

"Me and Toya are getting married!" Akito says, finishing his sentence with a sound of happiness.

The call is quiet for a moment before Ena starts speaking again. "Is Toya there?"

"Uh, yeah? Why?"

"Hey Toya." Ena laughs. "Can't believe you're going to have to put up with me for the rest of your life."

Toya shrugs, "Well, I suppose it's my fault for saying yes." He pokes fun at Akito.

"Yeah, well I said yes too. Don't get it twisted." He shoves Toya lightly.

"Hm?" Ena hums.

An clasps her hands together sliding closer to the phone speaker. "They both proposed." She tells. "How adorable, right?"

"Shut up An." Akito scoffs, face reddening slightly.

Toya covers his mouth as a small laugh escapes. 

"Hey An. Anyways, who knows?" Ena asks. "Or am I the last person on earth to hear?"

"Well it's you, Shirashi, Azusawa, and Ken so far." Toya says, counting on his fingers. "I should probably tell Tsukasa soon, he'll be devastated if he's the last to know."

"Glad to know I'm not the last person to hear. God knows Akito would have probably FORGOT about me. Who told him to call me?"

"That would be me." Kohane pipes up.

"Hey Kohane, thanks for reminding this doors to tell me. Anyways, I gotta run, Mizuki just texted me that her car broke down. Gotta pick her up. Seeya!"

"Bye Ena!" The group exclaims.

Akito hangs uo the phone as he pockets it.

He coughs. "Anyways——

Akito rings the doorbell of the Tenma household as Toya wraps his arm around Akito's. Saki greets them at the door.

"Hey guys!" She exclaims. "The whole gang is here, just warning you."

"Oh?" Akito says. "Like your group or Tsukasa's?" 

"Tsukasa's." Sali says, backing out of the doorway. "Come in, come in."

The two men walk inside as the rest of the room erupts in cheers. "HAIIII!" Emu exclaims.

Toya waves, "Hello Emu." Akito turns to his fiancé, "She's one of Tsukasa's friends." He explains.

Akito nods. The pair sit down on the floor as Toya starts to talk to Tsukasa. Akito nods at the green haired girl next to him.

"Hey Nene."

"Hey Akito." She murmurs, focused on her game.

Because Akito had been with Toya for so long, he had gotten to know Tuskasa's friends. Rui, Emu, and Nene. He admired Nene's determination towards her games. 

He probably vibes woth her the most out of the group.

Toya types something on his phone, then shows it to Tsukasa. He nods in acknowledgment. Akito looks puzzled, Huh?

"So I suppose we should tell you why we arrived so unexpectedly." Toya grins as Saki collapses onto the couch.

"What is it Toya?" Rui questions, his signature cat-like grin on his face. 

"We're getting married." Toya says an uncontrollable smile on his face. 

Tsukasa erupts in cheers. "YESSSSS YAY!" He shouts. Saki claps, a toothy smile shining through.

Nene pauses her game, looking up. "Really?" She raises her eyebrows as she punches Akito playfully. "Nice job. Was it you who proposed?"

Akito chokes out a laugh. "We're gonna have to explain this every time, huh?" He turns to Toya.

Toya shrugs. "Technically, Akito did first." Tsukasa furrows his brows.

"HUH? What do you mean 'first'?" He stands up. "I'm confused, Toya!"

"We had both proposed, but Akito did it first. It was a whole thing." Toya pauses. "Funny coincidence."

Akito places a kiss on Toya's cheek. "Yet I wouldn't have it any other way."

Rui pulls Tsukasa back down onto the couch. "Fufu... Sit back down." He smiles towards the guys. "So, what do your rings look like?"

Toya and Akito place their hands on thr coffee table as everyone in the room moves closer.

"WOAH!" Emu exclaims. "THEY'RE SO PRETTY! HEHEHE!" Emu is a very jolly person, Akito thinks.

The group all sit around talking about the proposal, then the conversation shifts to how Tsukasa's band (wonderland x showtime) is doing and if they've had any performances at Phenoix Wonderland lately.

Tsukasa tells them all about it.

It's nice to slow down for a while.

Chapter Text

Akito looks into Toga's eyes, their hands connected in front of them.

"Shinonome Akito, your vows?" The officiator asks. Akito nods, pulling the index card out of his tuxedo pocket.

His hands shake as he looks up at Toya for a short moment before refocusing on the text in his hand.

"Toya." He starts. "These past few years if my life have been the greatest, and I genuinely don't know where I would be without you. I promise to always stay by your side, and I want you to know that I'll always choose you."

Akito swallows, his voice shaking. "I promise to help you through anything and everything. I promise to love you forever, Toya."

The blue haired boy grabs one of Akito's hands as he wears a warm smile. Akito traces his thumb across if the back of Toya's hand.

"And you, Aoyagi Toya?"

Toya breathes out as he readies himself.

"Akito. I love you, and I always have. It's hard to put into words what I would do for you into such a short vow, but I would do anything for you Akito. I–" His eyes go wide, mouth hanging open slightly. Akito can tell Toya seems nervous.

"Toya?"

"I..." Toya chuckles nervously. "Well I originally wrote some down but uh..." Toya turns the palm of his free hand toward Akito, the pen ink being smudged and barely readable.

Akito laughs, pulling Toya's hand closer to try and see what he had written. It reads as such.

Akito pulls Toya's had to his cheek as he rests it against his face, eyes fluttering shut. "Ikea furniture, Toya? Really." He smiles.

Toya pushes his forehead against Akito's as the officiator nods. "Shinonome Akito, do you take this man, Aoyagi Toya, to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

Akito adjusts Toya's tie, "I do."

The officiator turns to Toya. "Do you, Aoyagi Toya take this man, Shinonome Akito,  to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do." He says.

"You may now kiss the groom."

The officiator takes a step back as Toya pulls Akito closer, their lips connecting as the wedding guests cheer.

They break apart after a few moments, looking out at all of their friends and family.

An, Kohane, the Tenma's, Ena, Ken, Nene, Rui, Emu— The list goes on.

Toya and Akito's lives were finally perfect because it was official.

They were married.

And they wouldn't have it any other way.
