Chapter Text
“Fucking stupid ass trolley!”, Charlie muttered to himself as once again the wheel of the shopping trolley he was pushing through the supermarket turned and it went the opposite way to the way he wanted.
He tried to move it around the corner to the next aisle. But it careened the opposite way and smacked into another trolley sending it forwards.
“Woah”, the owner of the trolley exclaimed.
“Sorry! This thing has a mind of-“, Charlie stopped.
Nick.
The owner of the other trolley was Nick Nelson.
Former love of Charlie Spring’s life.
Current breaker of Charlie’s heart.
It had been 6 years since Nick had ended their relationship. The spring of Nick’s first year at Leeds university.
He had told Charlie - over the phone - that he wanted to be free of the relationship and have a proper college experience.
And then he had hung up.
Leaving Charlie crushed. Devastated. Broken.
Charlie had entered a very dark period after that. He had struggled and had upped his sessions with Geoff for a while.
Over time he got back to himself. He had taken a year out after school. Got a job as a barista. And then he had taken up his place in UCL studying Classics.
He had thrived in UCL and had graduated top of his class.
He was now working in Manchester University in an admin role in their Classics department where he hoped to work his way up.
He hadn’t dated anyone since. He still held a lot of anger in his heart for Nick. And he didn’t think he could trust anyone again.
He thought he would never see Nick again.
Yet here he was.
Looking so handsome still.
Shut up! He told himself.
Charlie straightened his back and decided to be the bigger person.
“Hi”.
“Hi”.
