"Haruhi, Haruhi! Look at all the vegetables I've chopped so far. Aren't I amazing?"
"Tamaki, you've barely diced a single potato. Do you need me to show you how to do it again?"
"Ooh, yes! Demonstrate your culinary skills for me, please!"
Haruhi sighed as they went to his side, taking the knife from him skillfully and demonstrating how to finely dice things once more. It was a familiar sight to Kyouya at this point; the two of them squabbling in the kitchen, making less mess than expected for their rowdiness. All the while he could sit back and enjoy their voices, their noise, as the pleasant chaos that it was.
It was fair to say he was a happy man at this point. How could he not be? Even disregarding his family's company, he had won.
He had his lover and his lover's heart all within his reach. Hard to call that anything besides a win after all was said and done.
"Wow! Haruhi you're so good at this! Truly the most talented man alive!" Tamaki said in a squeal.
"You're laying it on thick today." Haruhi said in perfect counter, not buying his enthusiasm for a second. As they shouldn't. They turned to Kyouya and asked, "What has he done this time?"
Tamaki's tune changed in an instant, going from overly cheery to sad wet dog. "What? I haven't done anything wrong. Don't go to Kyouya, Haruhi, please."
His little whines were so adorable. Happily, Kyouya reported to Haruhi, "He broke the blender again."
"Again?" Haruhi huffed at their silly third, who held his hands up in a quick surrender. "Tamaki, we can't keep going through blenders just because you want to test how much it can blend."
"What's the point of a blender if it can't make perfectly pureed soup?" Tamaki asked in rebuttal, growing offended as he ditched the poor sad dog act. "I'd think you'd be ecstatic to hear I'm putting each brand's quality to the test."
"I'd be happier if you stopped breaking them." Haruhi said flatly.
Their straightforward bluntness had such a bite to it. Tamaki deflated and said in defeat, "Okay, I'm sorry."
He gave in so easily that it was hard to stay angry at him. It was hard to stay angry at him in general, for as much wonder he took in the world. Kyouya pulled him over and pressed a soft kiss to his temple, saying, "Next time, it'll be a punishment game."
Despite leaning into his embrace, Tamaki whined a pitiful, "No."
"Punishment game does sound like a fitting consequence." Haruhi said with a nod. They placed down the knife and opened their arms in an offer, which Tamaki perked up on seeing. He kissed Kyouya swiftly on the cheek, then dove for their arms and engulfed them as they comforted him. A needy, needy dog. How utterly adorable. Kyouya rolled his eyes out of fondness for such a silly lover and took the knife up for himself to finish chopping the vegetables they needed.
"Kyouya, Kyouya, Haruhi loves me." Tamaki said in a sing-song tone.
"That they do. Very much so." Kyouya said in reply.
Haruhi's face burned all the way to their ears. Another adorable quirk of getting to have these two wonderful people in his life. Tamaki smiled over at him and said next, "And you love me, too. Right, Kyouya?"
Smiling in return (much softer, less daggers), Kyouya said, "There's no one else I could love but you, Tamaki."
Tamaki giggled giddily, then released Haruhi in order to watch Kyouya finish their task. Having had enough time to recover themself, Haruhi joined Tamaki in watching and gave an awed, "You're so good at this, it always surprises me."
"Kyouya has a natural talent for so many things." Tamaki said, puffing up as he was able to praise his love.
It would fluster Kyouya more if he wasn't so enamoured by the man. "Cooking isn't too difficult a skill to pick up."
"It isn't, but you'd be surprised at how many people are hopeless in the kitchen." Haruhi said.
They pulled Tamaki down to kiss his cheek as he drooped once more. "I have many other talents outside of cooking, I'll have you know." He said morosely.
"You do, Tamaki." Kyouya agreed. Finished with the vegetables, he placed the knife down and cupped Tamaki's face in both of his hands. This gave Haruhi time to pour all the ingredients into the pot so they could have their meal in a timely fashion. "You have so many magnificent qualities. Take pride in those."
He could list so many ways in which Tamaki saved him. In which Tamaki saved Haruhi, too. This man was radiant and shining hope and love so often that it was hard not to be blinded by all of it. Tamaki surged forward to hug onto him, overcome by what meager love Kyouya could show him in return for all of his warmth and kindness and affection. Annoying as he could be at times, Kyouya truly couldn't imagine being with anyone else. He loved this man and he loved this life the three of them were building together.
When Tamaki pulled back, Kyouya said in reminder, "Stop breaking blenders."
"It's not like we can't afford to get a new one." Tamaki whined petulantly. He kissed Kyouya briefly, then said much more reasonably, "But I understand. I'll be more careful."
"Stew should be ready in an hour." Haruhi said, placing the lid atop the pot. Tamaki and Kyouya both looked to them as they brushed their hands off and went to untie their apron. "Since we finished watching through The Heavenly Tyrant, what should we start next?"
Tamaki gasped, perking right back up. "Ooh, let's watch Love Drama Island. Renge said it held her on the edge of her seat the whole time."
Kyouya and Haruhi shared a look, none too thrilled. Haruhi said, "Actually, why not the new Beauty and Beast drama instead?"
"Oh! That sounds even more fun."
Tamaki pulled away from Kyouya's side in order to hug onto Haruhi once more, cooing over how amazing they were. Kyouya shook his head fondly at the two, filled with more affection than he knew how to express.
They were both so important to him. As much as he saw this as his win, it was theirs as well. Tamaki, getting the ones he loved. Kyouya and Haruhi, sharing such a brilliant man and a satisfying life.
As Tamaki sped off to their sitting room to set up their evening activity, Haruhi smiled at Kyouya and offered him their hand. Of course, Kyouya accepted and walked with them to the other room.
