"Captain, please join me in my office."
Hux had gone over exactly what he was going to say to her over a thousand times. Phasma was his best friend (only friend) so he wanted her to know.
Phasma had always been an older sister of sorts to him. She was the only one to take notice of the abuse he endured. She did after all help him kill his father. They were honest with each other, and he knew he was going to have to tell her sooner rather than later.
"Good evening General, what can I do for you?"
He tried not to smile at the formalities, pouring them both some Corellian wine. He nodded at her to sit down.
"Do I need to have a reason to talk with my friend?"
He watched her as she removed her helmet, glaring suspiciously at him.
"You're not-uh dying are you?"
"What, no! That's what you first think of?"
They both took a sip of the wine, trying to make this least awkward as possible.
"You've just been busy as of late. I do miss my drinking buddy."
That was the one thing he did regret. He felt as if he had left her, somehow. Hux knew she had her own ways of keeping busy, but it still made him feel terrible.
"I know, I've been busy. With Starkiller, the Finilizer, the new Officer's."
"Red, you don't have to explain yourself. "
Oh but he did. Why was this so damn hard?
"Phasma, I need to tell you something. Only you can know. I can't have this getting out, my reputation, my career. I need you to just, have an open mind."
Phasma eyed him suspiciously, taking another sip of her drink.
"I promise Armitage. It can't be that bad. Worst case scenario we have to kill someone."
Hux forced himself to laugh, downing the rest of his drink and pouring more into his glass. He had gone over this with Kylo a thousand times. Now instead of Kylo, it was Phasma. Easy enough.
"Kylo Ren and I are, we’ve been, we are- we chose to be-"
Thankfully Hux didn't have to finish because Phasma had the look he had been so afraid of. First, scared, then shock, and almost excitement?
"Maker! Armitage, why didn't you tell me!"
He would have told her sooner, truly. Kylo and him had only talked about it recently though. Kylo wasn't exactly subtle with their relationship anyway so it was due time.
He was about to respond to her before she suddenly stood up, almost like she was happy. Happy phasma was never a good sign.
"So many people owe me credits!"
Hux sat back, doing a double take of what she said. Credits? Why would people owe her-.
"Phasma, did you bet on me?!"
Phasma coughed, and sat back down in the chair, taking another long sip from her glass.
"I couldn't just stand back while the rest of the crew put in their bets."
"The rest of the crew!?"
Hux leaded back in his chair, defeated almost. He had expected her shock, but this, as if she was almost expecting it and the crew. It was too much.
"Red, we're happy for you. No one is going to say anything. It's high time anyway that you too stopped arguing and put your mouths to better use."
He tried to sink lower into his chair, only to be left with Phasma smirking down at him.
"So you're ok with what we're doing?"
Phasma sat back, face turning neutral again. She raised her eyebrow, taking another sip from her drink.
"If I wasn't, would you stop?"
"I don't know? This is new for me. I don't- I respect your opinion."
Phasma smiled at that, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Armitage, you don't need my approval but you have it. Kylo Ren is a menace, I won't lie to you, but he's different when he's around you. I think you are both good for eachother. I'm happy for you."
Hux smiled back at her. He didn't think he would make it this far. It was too soon to say that he loved Kylo, but Kylo had made him better in more ways than one.
"Thank you Phasma. Next time you make a bet though, it would be nice of you to clue me in."
Phasma smiled, raising her glass.
"Of course General. To the future of the First Order."
Hux raised his own glass with hers' bringing them together. He really couldn't have asked for a better friend.
