Work Text:

Megumi, Tsukmiki, Nanako, and Mimiko scrambled between their rooms, throwing clothes and toys into their bags. Megumi moved a little slower than his sisters but was no less excited. Nanako and Mimiko were both tugging on the end of a swimsuit. “It’s mine!” Mimiko shrieked, “Get your own!”

Nanako only pulled harder, “No, it’s mine!”

Tsumiki, the oldest of the kids, if only by a little, sighed as she tried to break up the twins’ fight. “Nanako, yours is under your bed.”

Megumi joined his sisters, his bag over his shoulder, “Why are you guys taking so long?”

Gojo poked his head into the room, grinning widely, “Yeah, why are you all taking so long?”

Tsumiki dragged out Nanako’s swimsuit with one hand, while gathering up Mimiko’s hair in her other to tie it back. “We’re almost ready, dad.”

“Better be,” Gojo pouted. “I want to go to the beach too, you know.”

Megumi tugged on Gojo’s pant leg, “I’m ready.”

Gojo beamed and picked up the small boy, ruffling his wild hair, “That’s my boy.”

“Satoru! I’m starting the car!” Geto’s voice came from downstairs, his tone a warning for them all that his patience was getting thin.

Gojo’s smile dropped into an irritated frown. “Alright, alright. Come on, Megumi before your papa throws a fit.”

Gojo and Megumi disappeared from the room and Tsumiki did her best to help the twins’ finish packing up. She took each of their hands as soon as Mimiko put the last toy in her bag, leading them downstairs.

The front door was wide open, Gojo’s tall, lanky form leaning against the frame as Geto put Megumi’s bag in the car’s trunk. They were bickering indistinctly as the four kids took their places in the car.

Gojo slipped into the driver’s seat, “I’m just saying. It’s a long drive. It would keep all of us awake.”

Geto, who’d settled in the passenger side, frowned, “That’s exactly what I’m worried about.”

Mimiko leaned forward from the back row of seats, “Papa, can we listen to the American songs?”

Geto turned his head to look back at all four kids, smiling, “If that’s okay with the rest of you.”

Megumi shrugged, distracted by the action figure he was messing with in his hands. Tsumiki nodded, “That’s okay with me.”

Nanako groaned, “We always listen to what you want.”

“You guys have to agree,” Geto said sternly.

Gojo took Geto’s hand, “You’re going to make them scream at each other, you know that right?”

Megumi groaned, “Noooo.”

Tsumiki looked back at her sisters, “We wouldn’t do that, right? Tell them!”

Nanako and Mimiko glanced at each other, not jumping at the chance to readily agree with the other.

“Guess we have to listen to my music!” Gojo declared excitedly, turning up the volume on a heavy metal song that shook the speakers.

All five other passengers shouted their protests, which Gojo responded by yelling back at them, “I will turn this car around right now!”

-

At some point, Gojo turned off the obnoxious music in favor of upbeat pop songs that the twins happily sang along to. Megumi had fallen asleep, head leaning against the window and his action figure laying on his lap. Tsumiki had a book open, occasionally asking her dads a question. Gojo had gotten bored quickly, choosing to sing along to the radio as well. Geto put a hand over his face and Megumi woke to the offkey screaming of a choking rooster.

“Dad, stop,” Tsumiki groaned. “You woke up Megumi.”

A shit eating grin took over Gojo’s face, “I’ll lull you back to sleep, Megumi. I know a couple lullabies.”

The asshole proceeded to keep singing but even louder. Geto, doing the lord’s work, summoned a small snake curse that wrapped around Gojo’s head and mouth, muffling his crowing.

Nanako and Mimiko burst into laughter. Tsumiki hid her giggling behind her book. Megumi took the opportunity to close his eyes again to try and fall back to sleep.

“What do we say?” Geto looked back at the kids, a teasing glint in his purple eyes.

“Thank you, Papa,” They all replied, Megumi a little less enthusiastic than the twins and Tsumiki.

Gojo glared at them through the rearview mirror and pried the snake off. Geto released the curse and Gojo grumbled, “That’s not nice, Sugu.”

“You’ll survive, baby,” Geto replied sweetly.

Megumi faked a gag. Tsumiki rolled her eyes at him. The twins were too busy playing rhyming games in the back to hear. Why were their parents so weird?

“Guys look!” Mimiko pointed out the window, beaming.

All four kids looked out the windows, seeing the gleam of water in the distance, bright light reflecting the sun off the waves. Tsumiki excitedly leaned forward towards Geto, “Papa, how much longer?”

“Yeah! How much longer?” Nanako whined.

Gojo batted his thick lashes, “Yeah, Sugu. How much longer?”

Geto shoved Gojo’s head away, “Focus on the road. We’ll be there soon. Fifteen minutes max.”

“That’s half an episode of one of Megumi’s baby shows!” Mimiko complained.

Megumi turned to glare at her, “They’re not baby shows! It’s a superhero cartoon, dummy!”

Gojo snorted from the front, “Megumi, I’ve got to teach you better insults.”

Geto smacked Gojo’s shoulder, but before he could intervene, Mimiko shot back, “Yeah, for babies.”

“No it’s not!” Megumi argued, his tiny fists clenching, ready to hurl his action figure at his sister.

Mimiko stuck her tongue out and Tsumiki tried her best to placate them, “Mimiko, be nice. He’s seven.”

“That’s way too old to be watching that stuff,” Mimiko teased, grinning at a fuming Megumi.

Nanako sheepishly admitted, “I kind of like his shows though.”

Gojo glared at them all, “I will have Papa bring out the worm if you guys don’t stop fighting.”

“No!” Mimiko and Nanako cried and held onto each other.

“Don’t!” Tsumiki protested, hoping to keep her sisters from screaming.

Megumi grimaced, shuddering. Geto could summon a worm-like curse with a swollen face and purple skin that wrapped around his body. Apparently it was meant to store things, but it freaked all of them out to no end.

Gojo laughed to himself, clearly pleased that his threat worked to scare them into silence.

The last stretch of the drive was relatively civil, even if Mimiko and Nanako were frowning at Gojo’s less than empty threat. The car bounced on the uneven terrain as the paved road turned into sand. Gojo parked the car and looked back at the kids, “Alright my army of fermented eggs, we’re here.”

The twins and Tsumiki rushed to get their seatbelts off. Tsumiki ran around the side of the car to help Megumi out, despite his scowl and quiet insistence that he didn’t need her help. Geto opened the trunk and handed each child their packed bag. The twins ran off towards the water immediately, Gojo chasing them, and taunting them once he sped ahead of them. Tsumiki waited behind with Megumi until he got his bag. Geto smiled warmly, holding out his hands for them both. They took his hands and walked a lot more orderly towards the beach, watching Gojo scoop Mimiko up and tossing her into the air before catching her, much to Nanko’s dismay. Geto grimaced, knowing Gojo would never intentionally hurt any of the kids, but he was also reckless and what if he dropped her?

“Papa, I think you need to hide the sugar from dad,” Tsumiki noted, looking up at him with a comically serious expression.

Geto chuckled, “I wish that was all it took, but he’s been like that for as long as I’ve known him and I have a feeling it’s not going to change.”

“Being that happy all the time seems exhausting,” Megumi added, eyeing his action figure in his free hand.

Geto made a face that neither child could determine the meaning of. Their attention was drawn back to Gojo and the twins as Nanako had wrapped herself around Gojo’s leg while Mimiko was slung over his shoulder, shrieking.

Megumi frowned, “I want to go back to the car.”

“Nope, we’re doing this together,” Geto replied, approaching Gojo and the twins whose high voices were overlapping in an array of yelling.

Tsumiki frowned, covering her ears, “Dad, quit messing with them.”

I’m messing with them?” Gojo scoffed indignantly, trying to pull Nanako off of his leg, which only made the twins scream louder.

Geto sighed, “Girls, get off your dad.”

With a series of groans, the twins slid off of Gojo, who stuck his tongue out at them. Megumi looked up at Geto, frowning, “Can we feed him to the sharks?”

“Unfortunately, Megumi, I love your dad and we’d all miss him too much,” Geto replied, prodding the boy forward.

Gojo pouted at Geto, "You see how mean they are to me?”

Geto patted Gojo’s back. Tsumiki took Megumi’s hand, smiling, “Come on! Let’s go!”

Megumi offered her a tiny smile and let himself be dragged towards the water. Mimiko and Nanako chased after them. Nanako announced, “I bet I’ll get to the water first!”

Tsumiki took off after her. Megumi’s smile twitched and he followed, albeit slower than his sisters. Mimiko was the first to reach the water, screaming in delight as the waves hit her feet. Tsumiki and Nanako followed after her. Megumi watched hesitantly before he slowly tiptoed into the water. A splash made him flinch and he turned to glare at a giggling Tsumiki. He broke into a grin and chased after her.

Mimiko and Nanako rushed to intercept Megumi, the four of them dissolving into a competition to splash each other while not getting wet. Mimiko tackled Tsumiki and they both fell in the water, getting hit by an incoming wave. Megumi and Nanako laughed. Nanako took the opportunity to push Megumi into the water as well. Megumi yelled as he fell backwards. He scowled up at her, “Ass.”

Nanako flicked Megumi’s forehead, “Sea urchin.”

“Little shits get back here! You’re going to burn!” Gojo held up a bottle of sunscreen, already covered in a thick white sheen himself.

Geto hit him upside the head and kept rubbing in the sunscreen while the four kids dragged themselves out of the sea and ran up the beach. Geto had set out a few towels and a few extra bottles of sunscreen. Tsumiki took up one of the tubes and took one of Megumi’s arms, squeezing some out before he could protest. Geto finished with Gojo and they, mostly Geto, helped the twins. Gojo was digging around in his bag, grabbing a darker and bigger pair of shades.

Tsumiki took the twins back to the water and they began digging in the sand, making a pile. Megumi joined them, sitting a few feet away and choosing to look for crabs.

Gojo sighed wistfully and leaned on Geto’s shoulder. “Look at them, Sugu. Aren’t they just sickeningly sweet?”

Geto snorted, “They clearly don’t take after you.”

“Rude,” Gojo’s pout returned.

The other sorcerer laughed quietly and gave him a quick kiss into his hair, Gojo having lowered his Infinity to feel the touch on his skin. “Love you, Toru.”

“Aw shucks, really?” Gojo looked up at him mischievously, even though his eyes were hidden behind the dark sunglasses, Geto knew they’d be shining.

Geto smiled back, “I do. Need me to tell you again?”

Gojo pretended to think about it, tapping his chin, “I think so. At least a hundred times.”

“I love you,” Geto kissed Gojo’s cheek, then again on his jaw, “I love you. I love you so much, Toru.”

Geto’s lips found Gojo’s neck just as Mimiko screamed. Both of their heads shot up and stared at the kids. Megumi was holding up a tiny hermit crab in front of Mimiko’s face. Tsumiki was frantically trying to calm her down and scolding Megumi, Nanako looking both interested and disgusted by the little creature.

Mimiko ran off and Megumi’s face broke into an evil grin as he chased after her. Geto looked at Gojo, “Never mind, they do take after you.”

“I will use Hollow Purple on you,” Gojo grumbled.

Geto didn’t respond but a warm smile remained on his lips. Tsumiki and Nanako had taken after Megumi and Mimiko. The pair watched the four kids collapse into a heap, shrieking and laughing. Suddenly they weren’t special grade sorcerers who were way too young to be raising four kids, but normal people, watching with full hearts as their family enjoyed the beach.

Notes:

Needed satosugu and their kids so badly. I love their family dynamic so much that I had to write it. Had to finish this up in honor of my bestie buying me a Gojo figure so everyone say thank you.
