Tired of Being Tired

Summary:

Agares and Gaap relax in an open field of flowers.

Notes:

Posting twice today since I wrote this one to cope with Ao3 going down

Work Text:

The two sat in comfortable silence, not needing to share any forms of verbal communication. Silence was simply enough for them.

Sitting in a field of purple flowers, away from the busy life of the Netherworld, sharing the shared comfort they felt for one another. The only sounds that interrupted their stillness was the distant screeching of devil birds, but that was normal in their world, actually it was relaxing in a terrifying sort of way.

Agares sat, relaxing on Shishou, on the verge of sleep as Gaap sat next to him, an arm resting over him. Gaap — unlike Agares — was wide awake, on his hellphone doing whatever it was he was doing (Agares didn't care enough to check or ask), occasionally stealing glances at him, which even if Goemon attempted to hide it was blatantly obvious to the sleepy demon even if he wasn't looking at him.

Gaap's phone buzzed, as something caught his attention. He appeared to look between his phone then back at Picero, almost as if debating something before coming to a decision. Bringing Agares a tad bit closer as he leaned in a bit, trying to figure out if he was actually asleep or not.

"Picero-dono?" He whispered, trying to not disturb the other despite the fact that he was talking to him, therefore disturbing him. "Are you still awake?" He asked softly.

"Mm…" Was he received as a reply, as Agares looked to curl into himself.

"My apologies for disrupting your sleep, but some of our classmates are planning a party before our 3rd year." He explained, he wasn't entirely sure if they were still even awake, but nonetheless they continued. "I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go?"

This seemed to stir him awake, though not fully as he only half-opened an eye. "Party?" Goemon nodded, showing Agares the message on his phone.

It was clear he wasn't amused by this. Even the thought of a party drained him.

"Do we have to…?" Complained Agares, relaxing further into his sleeping aid, not wanting to do anything apart from sleeping. "Well, only if you want! I'll follow you, no matter your decision!" Declared the samurai proudly.

"Well, what if I say 'no' to the invitation?" They decided to test Goemon, to see if he really meant what he said. "Then I'll stick by your side." He vowed, much to the amusement of Picero, who took it a step further.

"Really? Well, what if I want to stay in bed all day?"

"Then I'll stay in bed with you." Goemon wrapped his arms around the shorter one's chest, softly leaning into him.

"Okay, but what if I want to shut myself away from every other demon?"

"Then I'll wait for you to reemerge."

"And how long are you willing to wait?" Inquired the red-head, wanting to see how far he was willing to go.

"I'll wait an eternity if I have to." He replied without missing a beat.

"What if I want to murder everyone in sight?" He spoke grimly, they didn't actually want to do it, but he wanted to see if Goemon had any sort of limitation.

He seemed to pause, thinking carefully of what to say next. "Then so be it, if that's what you want."

Agares couldn't help but laugh at the newly discovered side of him, "What?" Goemon wondered.

"S-sorry," Picero cleared his throat. "I just never knew you had this side. I thought you were all bark and no bite." Pointed out the demon. To which he was technically correct, Gaap hated unnecessary, almost always trying to sort it out peacefully. But, there are times he doesn't mind showing off what the Gaap clan can do.

"There's a lot you don't know about me." Gaap said simply.

"Oh, mysterious~" He gave him a sly look, getting a chuckle out of the silver furred demon.

Agares shifted slightly, readjusting themselves as they laid across Goemon's lap, letting the other stroke his cheek delicately.

"So, do you want to go to the party?" Gaap asked once more.

"If it's alright with you, I want to stay out here." Answered Agares, earning a nod of approval from the other.

"Only if you'll have me at your side."

"Always."
