Work Text:

Nancy, Robin, and Eddie are at Steve’s for a hang out. Nancy has her legs dipped in the pool at the shallow end, leaning back in her hands as she watches her girlfriend swim around in the deep end.

Robin would occasionally ask Nancy, like a toddler, to watch her do some weird trick. Nancy’s smile grew each time Robin called her name. The amount of excitement in her voice when she shouted for her made Nancy’s heart warm.

“Nancy!” Robin called out.

She chuckled, “yeah babe?”

“Watch this!” Robin said as she turned, swimming quickly to an unsuspecting Eddie, who’s talking to Steve. She launches herself on top of his back, shoving him underwater.

Steve begins cackling as Eddie reemerges, gasping for air. “Oh you're dead Buckley!” Eddie says as he turns, a huge grin in his face.

He begins chasing her, Robin squealing as she swims away. “Nancy help!”

Nancy laughs, “you did that to yourself love.”

Robin swims backwards, shoving as much water towards Eddie as she can. Steve comes up behind her, grabbing her shoulders.

“Steve! You're supposed to be on my side!” Robin shouts.

“You should know I’m on my boyfriend's side.” Steve holds her in place.

Eddie grabs Robin waist, hoisting her over his shoulder and pulling himself out of the pool. Robin begins kicking, “don’t you dare Munson!” She shouts through giggles.

“Be careful guys,” Nancy chuckles, a huge smile covering her face.

“Don’t worry Wheeler, you’re precious girlfriend won’t get hurt!” Eddie calls back as he prepares to chuck Robin.

“Put me down!” Robin squirms.

“If you say so, Buck.” Eddie throws Robin into the pool and Steve shields his face from the splash.

Robin comes back up, coughing. “Gahh!” Robin gasps, “water went up my nose!” She begins coughing.

Eddie slips back into the pool, “you good Buck?”

“Yeah!” She continues coughing and gives a thumbs up.

Steve comes up behind Eddie and grabs him in a headlock, ruffling his hair. “Hey! You said we were on the same team!” Eddie tries to break free.

“That was before you made Robin swallow water,” Steve laughs as he dunks Eddie.

While the boys fight, Robin swims over to Nancy. Her coughing fit finally stopped as she grabbed the wall next to her girlfriend.

“You alright Rob?” Nancy asked.

“Yeah, all good.” Robin smiles, “you sure you don’t wanna come in?”

“I’m sure. I don’t feel like getting dunked,” Nancy chuckles. “You look tired, angel. Come take a break.”

“Noooo!” Robin pushes off the wall, swimming backwards toward Eddie and Steve.

“You’ll have to at some point,” Nancy laughs as she watches Robin swim away.

“Yeah, but not yet!” She calls out before turning around and helping Steve dunk Eddie.

After a few minutes of the three of them dunking each other, the boys grew tired. Steve sat on the edge of the pool in the deep end, Eddie holding onto the wall next to him and having a conversation.

Robin of course still had all the energy in the world, though her body looked like it might give out soon.

She had resorted to jumping into the pool from the diving board, calling Nancy’s name every few seconds to watch her ‘cool’ tricks and asking her to rate each one.

“Okay I’m going backwards this time babes!” Robin called out, turning around on the diving board. She jumped back, tucking her knees to her chest. Robin didn’t jump back far enough, her knee scraped the edge of the diving board before splashing into the water.

“Oh, shit.” Nancy murmured as she stood up and went to Robin. When she emerged from the water, she had a hand on her knee.

“I’m fine!” Robin said, hissing her breath.

“You're done. Come on, get out.” Nancy held out her hand.

“Nooo! Nancy please!” Robin begs.

“Darling. Out.” She stands her ground.

Robin sighs, grabbing her girlfriend's hand and pulling herself out of the pool. Nancy crouches down to take a look at Robin’s knee. Luckily the scratch isn’t too bad but with chlorine now being in it can’t make it pleasant.

“Let’s get you cleaned up.” Nancy drapes a towel over Robin. She towel dries herself as much as possible before heading inside.

“You know where the bandaids are Nance?” Steve called out.

“Yeah, we’ll only be a minute.” Nancy calls back heading inside.

Robin is standing in the kitchen, shivering with the towel wrapped around her upper body. Nancy grabs her arms, moving her hands up and down in an attempt to warm her up. “You cold love?” Robin hums as a response.

Nancy turns towards the cabinet and pulls out some hydrogen peroxide and bandaids, setting the box on the table and continuing to rummage.

“What are you looking for?” Robin asked.

“The bandaids.”

“There right there babe.” Robin loosely points to them, keeping her hands under the towel.

“Not those ones,” she pulls out another box, “these ones.”

Robin smiles, “did you ask Steve to get those just for me?”

“Of course I did. You like the colorful bandaids.” Nancy motions to the counter, telling Robin to sit on it.

Robin does as she’s told, “well the colorful ones are more fun, the others are boring.”

“That’s why I asked him to get these, my love.” Nancy presses a quick kiss to Robin’s cheek.

“You’re the best babes.” Robin chuckles.

“I know,” Nancy smirks as she dabs the hydrogen peroxide onto a paper towel. “This might hurt.” She gently taps the towel to Robin’s knee, causing her to let out a sharp gasp and recoil. “Sorry.”

After cleaning the wound, Nancy opens the box. “What color do you want, beautiful?”

Robin looks at the options, “purple.”

“Really? I thought you’d go for a different one.” Nancy pulls the purple bandaid out. “You picked this one because it’s my favorite color, didn’t you?”

Robin smiles, “maybe.” She teases, drawing out the word.

“You’re too cute.” Nancy kisses her nose and begins to put the bandaid on. “Alright, you're all good.”

Robin grabs Nancy’s chin, pulling it up to look at her. She pulls away, her face looking puzzled as she grabs Robin’s wrist and looks at her hand. “You were scratched here too.” She grabs the hydrogen peroxide towel again.

“Oh, I didn’t even notice.” Robin says. Nancy quickly cleans her up and puts a bandaid on. “Blue?” Robin looks at it.

“Yeah, because it’s your favorite color.” Nancy stares into her girlfriend’s eyes.

Robin smiles, “I love you pretty girl.” She grabs Nancy’s chin, pulling her into a kiss.

“I love you too, angel.” Nancy whispers against Robin’s lips, causing her to shiver.

“What was the score?” Robin asks.

“What?” Nancy slightly pulls away.

“My trick, what do you rate it?”

Nancy giggles, “seriously?” Robin nods. “Fine, it was… a six.”

“A six?!” Robin looks offended. “Why a six?”

“Because, all you did was hop backwards and you got hurt in the process, so a six is pretty high.” Robin lets out a small frustrated grunt. “Sorry sweetie, you can redeem yourself some other time.”

“So… I can get back in the pool?”

Nancy chuckles, “no. You’re tired, you need a break.” She begins putting everything away.

“But I did have a break!” Robin hops down from the counter.

“That doesn’t count darling.” Nancy turns to her.

“But you said I need to redeem myself!”

“Yeah, some other time. Not now.” Nancy stares into her eyes.

“You're no fun!” Robin pouts.

“Yeah, I’m a real monster.” She teases as she pulls Robin closer by the hips. She keeps a pout on her face. “We can go cuddle,” Nancy offers. A smile quickly grows on Robin’s face, placing a kiss on Nancy’s lips before walking back outside.

Steve and Eddie seemed to have the same idea as they were cuddled up on the outdoor sofa. Nancy and Robin made their way over, sitting on the sofa across from them and nestling together.

“Dang Buck, that diving board really got ya.” Eddie says.

“I guess so, It doesn’t really hurt.” Robin scooches closer to Nancy, practically sitting on her lap.

“Really? I thought you’d be crying in there.” Eddie teases.

“What? I’m not a toddler!” Robin softly shouted.

“You were acting like one earlier, asking Nancy to watch you every five seconds.” Steve added.

“Shut up dingus!” Robin huffed.

Nancy chuckles, “leave her alone boys, she’s just got a lot of energy.” She tightens her grip around Robin, looking into her eyes. “There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Robin looks at Eddie, “and that’s the only opinion that matters!” She taunts.

“That’s the only opinion that matters,” Eddie mocks in the best Robin voice he can. Robin flips him off, Eddie sticking out his tongue.

“Will you two cut it out?” Steve says, looking at Nancy as they both roll their eyes with a smile.

As the day went on, everyone was chatting and laughing. Robin began to dry due to the sun, and Nancy noticed her eyes slowly fluttering closed as her head bobbed. Nancy pulled Robin’s head to her shoulder, giving her a kiss on the forehead as she drifted to sleep.

She slowly traced circles into her back as Robin nestled closer. Nancy admired her girlfriend, enjoying the skin to skin contact.

“See, she’s a toddler!” Eddie says.

Nancy chuckles as she tightens her grip around Robin’s waist, “shut up Eddie.”

Notes:

I had a lot of fun with this! I love the head cannon that Robin gets so excited around a pool and Nancy is the mom, making sure she doesn’t die :D If you have any ideas for cute ronance moments or head cannons you’d like to see, let me know!
