Work Text:
“But you hate celebrating holidays with family.”
“Not when ‘family’ means you.”
***
“Most people find chemistry textbooks dull.”
“Not when you’re the one reading aloud to me.”
***
“Really, you’d like one? I’d be glad to; I just thought you didn’t care for mango smoothies.”
“I do when you make them.”
***
“You needn’t feel obligated; I know attending the opera’s not your first choice.”
“It is if you’ll be there.”
***
“It’s okay, Sherlock, you don’t have to, I can clean the cut myself. I know you don’t like touch.”
“It’s different when it’s you.”
***
“We can select something else to watch now that you’re home. I chose this just to practice my Russian, but I know you don’t enjoy reading subtitles.”
“I do if we’re watching together.”
***
“Oh Sherlock, it’s wonderful, thank you! Is that what you were doing yesterday? I know how much you hate going to the shops, so thank you extra for that effort.”
“It’s always different when it’s for you, John.”
***
“I noticed your phone’s playlist contains no classical music, which I deduce means it’s not your favorite genre. Would you prefer that I play something else?”
“I’ll admit it used to all sound the same to me, kind of bland. But you make everything different, Sherlock. When it’s you, even the simplest melody becomes something uniquely beautiful.”
