Work Text:

It was about 11:45 pm. The TV was buzzing with some odd advertisements in between the cheesy horror movies that had been playing. Shota was beginning to drift off sitting curled up in his chair with a cold glass of water. His insomnia had him up late again. Now, it's time to go to sleep. Just as he was finally falling asleep, there was a knock on his kitchen window.

He startled awake; he basically threw the glass. It was a miracle that the thin glass didn't shatter against the hardwood floor. He grabbed a thick book off the coffee table - likely some mystery novel he had been reading in his down time - and he carried it in preparation for an attack. He carefully crept to his kitchen. He was honestly bracing for the worst when he saw a certain blonde's dumb face in his window.

“I have a door. Why are you at my window?” He inquired skeptically, lowering the book.

“The door was… locked, aaand I thought you might'a forgot to lock ya’ window,” Hizashi slurred, giggling to himself.

“No, I always remember to lock my windows,” Shota said in false confidence, trying to act like he wasn't shaking.

“Can I come in, pleaaaseee,”

“If you can tell me where your clothes went and why you're dripping wet,” Shota was convinced he was losing it. He is trying not to look down so as to not see anything they would keep him awake at night.

“Oh, yeaaah, Nemuri threw a rager at her place,”

“...And your clothes?”

“Shota, one day you will learn that in order to have sex-”

“OKAY, ENOUGH OF THAT.” Aizawa cut him off, his blood rushing to his face.

“Alright, Jeez. Freakin’ buzzkill,”

“Just - Fuck - get in here before you make yourself sick,”

Shota went back around to open the front door for Hizashi, but not before grabbing him a towel to cover himself with.

“Here. Towel off first, and while you do that, I'll go grab my hairdryer,”

“M'kay,” He got covered up while Shota retreated to his bathroom to grab his dryer out of the drawer.

When Shota came back out, he saw Hizashi sitting on the floor. The blonde was petting the cat that Shota adopted a few weeks ago and giggling like a child.

He sighed. He felt his heart get warm like it does sometimes when that idiot is being cute. It's a shame that the loud-mouth is straight. Shota is quite closeted, and all his friends seem to assume he's just really bad at getting laid.

He shook the thoughts off, plugging the hair dryer into the power bar that also powered his stained glass lamp.

“Hold still, Idiot,” Shota grabbed his brush and began to dry the blonde's wild hair. Being gentle as to not pull it despite the fact it felt like it hadn't been brushed in a while.

After a few minutes, Shota noticed that his friend had fallen asleep in his arms. He turned the hairdryer off and set it and the brush aside. He carefully picked Hizashi up and half carried / half dragged him to the sofa. He had woken up from being jostled around, and he sleepily looked up at Shota.

“You're really pretty, you know?”

Shota was stunned into silence.

“Not in a girl way though… You're pretty like a boy,”

“Hizashi. You're drunk. Please, go to bed. I will go get you some clothes,” Shota wanted to cry. He wants him so bad. He knows he can't have him. Such a cruel pull on his heart.

He stepped away to get the tired blonde something to wear before he fell asleep. He found some extra clothes that he will never wear. A T-shirt and baggy pants. He brought them out to Hizashi. After stepping out to the porch so Hiz could change, Shota lit himself a cigarette. A dirty habit he picked up; he hasn't managed to drop it yet.

After the stick had burnt to a stub, he scuffed it out and put the end in his pocket. He came back in, and Hiz patted the seat on the couch next to him. He joined him on the couch. Immediately, the blonde draped himself across Shota's lap. He could hear Shota's racing heart, and it made him giggle.

“Why's yur heart so fast? Do I make ya’ nervous?”

“Hizashi… Please. You're not thinking straight…”

“I'm not straight. You know that, right? I like boys too.” He paused. “... And I think you do too, don't cha?”

“What…?”

“At least, I've never seen you with a woman,”

“Yeah…”

“I think we can talk tomorrow. We should get some sleep,” He buried his face in Shota's chest.

“Right… Tomorrow,” Shota agreed. He doesn't always understand his friend, but maybe he doesn't need to. Maybe, he's not as broken as he thought he was.

The Sun filtered through the windows. Shota had begun to stir. He was met with the sight of his best friend laying on his chest. He was baffled for a moment, and mentally he was searching for what happened last night. He was super sleepy when he showed up.

Hizashi pulled him closer to himself.

“Good morning, Sho,” He said with a sleepy smile.

“Good morning…”

“You look nice,”

“What games are you playing here…?”

“I just want to complement you. Is that a crime? Well then, arrest me officer,” He stuck his wrists together and then out in a dramatic mock detainment.

Shota scoffed. “I'm not convinced. What are you trying to do?”

He paused for a moment. “I want to prove that I don't need to be drunk to love you,”

Shota was quiet for a second before speaking very quietly.

“Please, don't play with my heart, Hizashi. We can't. You need to go back to being with women,”

“I want you, Sho. Please,”

Shota likes to think he's a man of very strong will, but it's times like this that make him question that train of thought.

“We have an image to uphold,”

“I don't want it without you,”

Damn that stubborn fool.

Shota finally caved to his own desires.

“Okay… maybe a day won't hurt…
