It was a typical evening in the tower's living room. They had just finished dinner, just the four of them plus an unexpected guest.
Bucky had run off right after dinner, heading to a local bar with Sam, leaving Joaquin sprawled on their couch with them.
To be fair he had even offered to help after dinner, but the other four already had their assigned tasks, and flying on his own can be very tiring.
Alexei, surprisingly, had a date. Which had left Lena quite nervous.
"Oh, little mishca" Alexei had said before leaving. "You are jealous of your old man."
"I only have something for that poor, troubled soul," Lena said. "Don't make her run away screaming, please."
Bob had done the dishes; John had limited himself to taking out the garbage, since he had cooked for everyone as usual. Ava had cleaned the rest of the kitchen while Lena dried and put away the dishes Bob passed her.
After 15 minutes they finally joined Joaquin on the couch, a couple of bowls of popcorn for everyone to share.
“Uh, popcorn,” Joaquin said, reaching for the bowl Yelena was holding, receiving a disgusting treat in return.
“Popcorn is only for those who have done chores, Joaquin,” she said, glaring at him.
“Even Walker barely did anything,” Joaquin said, trying to defend himself. “And besides, I’m the guest.”
“Nice try,” Bob said, snuggling up to his boyfriend. “He cooked the food you ate,dickhead ,don’t even try.”
“Thanks, honey,” John said, smiling faintly.
“Here’s Joaquin,” Ava said, handing him another bowl. “Unlike them, I’m a good hostess.”
“You are making fun of me, right?” Joaquin asked, barely raising an eyebrow.
“Hey, our respective dads are out doing their own thing, leaving us alone at home,” Lena said. “That’s the least you can do.”
“So you’re Bucky’s kids and I’m Sam’s kid?” Joaquin asked, laughing.
“Of course,” Bob said. “You know that song that says ‘A single mom that works two jobs’ is about Bucky.”
“Yeah, but he doesn’t love his kids, unlike the song,” John said.
“Sam keeps saying i am the reason for his gray hair,” Joaquin said. “I don’t know what he means, since he doesn’t have any hair.”
“Can we please put something on?” Bob asked, sighing. “The new Monarch episode is out.”
“Oh no, please,” John said, sighing.
“What’s Monarch?” Joaquin asked. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen it.”
“It’s set in the Godzilla and King Kong universe, but it’s really cool,” Bob said, trying to sound calm about it.
“And it’s Bobert’s new reason for living,” Yelena said.
“Ava has a crush on Keiko, too,” Bob said, blushing.
“And you have a crush on Lee Shaw,” Ava said. “Which is stupid, considering he’s an exact mirror image of your current boyfriend.”
“I like him even when he’s old, for that matter,” Bob said, blushing even more.
“Really?” Joaquin asked. “Sam and Bucky aren't going to like the idea of a Walker twin on the loose.”
“Okay, that's very funny,” John said. “But that guy doesn't even look remotely like me.”
“Hey, we have a third party here who's never seen the show,” Lena said. “Maybe you'll finally understand what we mean, Walker.”
They clicked play and let the episode begin.
“Uh, I can't stand May,” Lena said, after a handful of popcorn. “You never know whose side she's on.”
“Why is Kei wasting time with two men?” Ava asked. “She could do the right thing and imitate her grandaughter, but no. Two men, and one of them is practically Walker.”
“I'm still sitting here, by the way,” said John, from the other couch.
Finally, a scene appeared on the screen with young Lee Shaw in all his glory, and as if by some sort of conspiracy against poor Bob, he was still wearing his jacket and suspenders from the previous episode.
“Leeland Lafayette Shaw III,” Bob sighed. “He’s so handsome and dreamy. He holds my little gay heart in his capable hands.”
“Walker,” Joaquin said. “They cast you in this show? Dude,it could be you.”
“Joaquin, please,” John said. “Don’t encourage them.”
“See, even Joaquin agrees with us,” Lena said. “You’re the one who doesn’t want to accept it.”
“He looks a lot like him,” Bob said. “But he’s got something more. Maybe it’s the clothes. I don’t know, I should see you in that jacket. Oh, and the braces.”
“I can’t believe you have a crush on that guy,” John said. “That asshole slept with a married woman. I don’t care if he’s in love with her, he’s a homewrecker anyway.”
“I only want to get married so I can cheat on my husband with Lee Shaw,” Bob said, still captivated by the screen. “He can destroy my family whenever he wants.”
“Okay, that’s enough,” John said, taking the remote. “This is terrible, and I’m judging you so much. I’m going to ask Mel to cancel our Apple TV subscription.”
“This is so stupid,” Joaquin said, laughing. “You’re probably going to marry John anyway ,so you want to cheat on Walker with his twin?”
“Two is better than one,” Bob said, grinning.
“You’re a brat,” John said, shaking his head. He was still trying to look angry, but he was failing miserably as he started to smile.
“Can we continue the episode while you guys figure out whatever this is?” Lena asked, asking John for the remote.
John handed it to her with a huff, letting the others get back to the episode.
“You’re better anyway,” Bob said, snuggling up next to him again. “One throw of your shield and Godzilla wouldn’t be a problem anymore.”
“Thanks for the trust, love,” John said, laughing, leaning forward to kiss him on the lips.
“You’re really funny when you practically get jealous of yourself,” Bob said, laughing. “And I would never cheat on you with Lee Shaw, I have other things on my mind.”
“We’ll talk about this later, okay?” John said, laughing.
“Sam doesn’t have an Apple TV subscription, that’s why I didn’t know it,” Joaquin said. “I almost want to get one in his name, if only to see his face when he sees the Walker clone.”
“Let us know how it goes,” Lena said. “Bucky refused to continue after the first episode.”
“Do you really think he’s that much like me?” John asked, confused.
When everyone else looked at him strangely, he decided it was best not to ask.
