Chapter Text

Wifies likes sleeping.

Absolutely adores it, even.

He didn't before. Back when all he knew where bedrock walls and puzzle rooms. He did sleep on occasion when he was tired but he only ever reached the standard eight hours before the day rolls back in and he's off escaping another room and solving more and more puzzles. Wifies had no other life other than being canon fodder to a mad man's experiments, wining and escaping and then winning again.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Over and over. A constant, never-ending loop.

Believing firmly that this was it. It would stay this way until Wifies was deemed a failure by his Creator and tossed to the compactor to be recycled into a new, more shinier and intelligent version of himself.

That was until that fateful day he met Kenadian.

Well, not really 'met', more like a surprise guest jumpscaring him in what he thought was his privately-owned world.

It was somewhat funny, really. Every memory he ever got during the countless experiments (or maybe more fittingly, every memory of every recycled Wifies that started before him) gets locked behind something once he enters a new escape room, he only ever remembered the memories associated with solving and of course the standard memories Wifies' creator implants in every standard clone.

All other memories (likely his other selves' memories before their disposal) were never really fully recovered, maybe he can recall any of them, maybe they're as fake as his current ones, Wifies didn't think he'd want to remember them either way. "To make it more realistic" , that man had said to him once upon a time (or maybe he said it to the others before him?), saying it ensures consistency in their processing output, helping to retain more and solve problems more efficiently —or something along those lines. Wifies thinks he's grasping at sticks, got the shortest end and started using it as an excuse.

Wifies' origin as a clone had only ever really solidified inside him as fact when the haggard, hysterical and clearly at her wit's end Kenadian the Cat —burst through from the room he had just solved, grabbed his wrist with a grip so strong that could bruise normal players, claws almost ripping straight through his hoodie sleeve, eyes staring wildly at him and ears pressed flatly on their head and blurted out everything she discovered.

Honestly? It was one of the most memorable and funniest things he's ever experienced in his whole not-really-his-life life.

Downright comical.

Really, it was freaking hilarious.

Honestly, imagine you were solving an escape room and got soft locked at the final puzzle on a server you were sure was private, and then the person who has been notorious for debunking other escapists for their fraudulent and scripted escape videos suddenly appears in the same escape room you're almost close to finishing, sprinting towards you like a deranged bat on a mission and then suddenly telling you that you're actually just a clone of the original Wifies.

If that wasn't enough, suddenly you're getting dragged towards what you thought was a sure way to die to the void —only to find out there was an invisible pathway, and then both you and your companion walk towards the direction she remembers the so called Other Wifies headed to, passing through escape rooms that you have memories of doing even though you're 100% certain you've never even stepped foot in any of them, and then being led inside of a factory where you witness the creation of multiple you's, looking at defective clones and several heads that looked eerily similar to yours EVERYWHERE.

And while you were still trying to grapple over the fact your entire life was actually just some whole elaborate lie, your cat-hybrid companion calls out to you and then suddenly you're at the main office, confronting the Original Wifies and somehow stupidly agreeing to fighting him with a TRIVIA GAME of all things.

WHY did you decide the trivia game would be a high stakes one???

It was in the moment kind of situation,

Probably,

Perchance,

Just going to pointedly ignore the fact that his own Creator had also agreed to it, likely arrogant that he would win (he went ahead and thanked Ken for rigging the game 100 times over after the very tense game was over, the cat hybrid had acted annoyed but by the happy flicking of her tail and slightly pink face, Wifies knew that she was likely only embarrassed by him essentially praising her 100x over for her quick thinking) only to then find out that this Wifies wasn't even a Wifies but was instead Wato who was being possessed/controlled/puppeted or whatever by something Ken called an Omz mask with her face twisting into something unpleasant, like she ate something sour.

And then when you ask them if they remembered anything related to the escape rooms and the clones, then they tell you that they don't remember ANYTHING (Ken looked like she expected the answer, face scrunched and tail flicking wildly behind them in irritation). So now all three of you have no real clue where the original Wifies even was or whether he even truly existed in the first place.

Truly one of the most funniest moments he's ever experienced.

Okay.

So,

It probably wasn't that funny.

Probably. Definitely. Absolutely.

But one thing he was sure of, it was definitely very memorable for all of them.

He's not really that much grateful towards a lot of things, but Wifies is definitely grateful that Ken decided that he was worth saving that day. He didn't really know what would have happened if she never decided to come and debunk him that day—aside from the obvious 'recycled into a new clone' thing that is.

He managed to experience a lot of new things ever since she freed him. One of which was his favorite, a particular experience Wifies had that treasures inside the deep crevices of his artificial heart.

After escaping, all three of them had joined Ken's private server, away from everything. Ken had screeched with joy, practically kissing the ground the moment they arrived, ignoring Wato's silent snickering, stretching and rolling her body against the soft grass before dropping down on it like she was dead, Wato's snickering turned to loud laughter as they doubled over at the sight, wiping away a fake tear. Wifies stayed behind somewhat, awkward and unused to grassy plains and rustling leaves.

He kneels, staring into a red poppy, poking at its petals curiously, glancing around the field of flowers around them, pink, yellow, and red dotting the grass. He turns towards the sky, eyes wide in surprise and awe, his jaw dropping slightly. The sky looked absolutely breathtaking, orange and yellow hues painting the normally blue sky like a watercolor painting come to life. He spots movement and moves his gaze towards a flock of birds flying, following their movement as they sailed across the sky, absolutely fascinated by the sight, ears perked up and tail subconsciously wagging excitedly behind him.

Unbeknownst to him, Ken and Wato were both staring at him, gazing at his wonder-filled face and his wagging tail with twin smiles on their faces. Ken was practically glowing as she watched him, pride and happiness surging inside her, filling every vein in their body with contentment. Wato just shakes her head in amusement, walking towards the cat hybrid's house, likely planning to grab all three of them something to eat and drink.

Ken rolls on the grass a bit more before pausing, contemplating something. "Hey!," she says after a moment, turning to face the dog-hybrid who jumped at the sudden noise, startled. She snickered at his expression, waving a hand at him, gesturing for him to come closer.

The brown-haired pup hesitated before walking towards Ken slowly. The cat hybrid patiently waits until Wifies got a bit closer before yanking him down by the strings of his hoodie with her on the grass, ignoring the man's loud yelp at the sudden movement. She curls up beside him, throwing an arm around his chest and hugging him tight enough to feel his warmth but loose enough that he could move away from her, ignoring his squirms and growing protests as she nuzzled her cheek against his, purring softly, trying to soothe his nerves.

At first Wifies laid there stiff as a board, ears pressed flatly against his skull, looking nervous as his eyes flickered from Ken's before looking away, unused to physical contact. Ken hugs him anyways, patient and purring like crazy, loving how warm his companion was.

Moments pass before Wifies moves, turning to face the cat-hybrid, curling up a bit so he could rest by Ken's chest, near her heart. Then slowly he lifts his arm, wrapping it around her and hugging her tightly, his knuckles turning white. She hugs him tighter in return, her nose in his soft brown locks, letting him hear her heartbeat as she played with his hair, scratching at the base of his ears causing his tail to wag and her to snort.

She ignores how damp her hoodie was getting, of the muffled sobs she could still hear despite how quiet the pup was being. All Ken does is tug him closer to his chest, letting her purrs try to comfort him, petting his hair soothingly.

They stay like that for a while, warm breeze, sweet smelling flowers and soft plush grass. It wasn't long until Ken felt Wifies' grip slacken and his breathing smoothen, falling into a deep sleep beside the cat hybrid. The hybrid doesn't stop her petting even as she felt her eyes growing heavier, she presses a small kiss on top the pup's head, rubbing her face against his hair one more time before eventually listening to the sweet beckon of sleep.

.

.

.

Wato steps out from the house, carrying a plate of snacks, a jug of water, as well as a book and quill. They walk up to the pair, careful of dropping anything and stops.

Wifies and Ken were curled up together. Wifies had his head tucked on top her chest, hands clutching at the fabric like a lifeline. His tail was draped over the cat hybrid's waist, like a comforting weight. Ken's hands curled tightly around the other, her tail over Wifies' own, her lithe body covering his slightly taller build protectively.

Wato stares at their sleeping form, smiling softly and shaking their head in exasperation. They carefully set the plate and jug down a little bit further away so that they wouldn't accidentally spill anything and proceeded to walk towards the other two with their book and quill. Ken opens an eye, tail uncurling from its place to sway slightly at their other companion, staring Wato down as they sat by Wifies' side.

The wolf pats the sleeping pup's hair lightly, spots the dried tear tracks on his face and frowns, pulling a handkerchief out of their pocket and carefully dabbing it away all the while Ken watches from her place, heterochromatic eyes watching every movement Wato made unblinkingly.

They respond by flicking her forehead playfully, causing the cat to hiss at them at the sudden pain, tongue sticking out in retaliation. Wato ignores the fuming Ken who had started to silently mutter different ways she was going to kill them with the ease of a person far too used to her personality, moving to sit besides Wifies, their back against the sleeping man's own.

They open the book and quill they bought outside and began writing on its blank pages, sketching new design layouts for a new escape room, stopping when something taps their shoulder.

Ken looks back at him as they turn, eyes narrowed. Demanding.

Wato stares back at her challengingly before they sigh suddenly feeling fatigue hitting as they slowly exhaled. "I'm not really that tired," they confess, clutching blades of grass with their free hand, "But being here makes it better, I think". The cat-hybrid stares at them for a bit longer before huffing, turning her attention back to the still sleeping Wifies in her arms, rubbing her cheek against his before closing her eyes for another impromptu nap, tail wrapped around Wifies'.

Wato shakes their head in mild amusement, placing the book and quill beside him, smiling down at Ken as they pat her head before settling down again besides Wifies, this time laying down with their head propped on top the pup's hip, snuggling closer as another breeze swept past them, eyes closed in contentment. A small nap wouldn't hurt. They still had tomorrow to conquer after all.

Right now, all that really mattered was all three of them here, safe and delightfully warm.

.

.

~Fast forward

"And what's this one called?" ,Wifies asks, curious about the meal in front of them.

A bowl of some sort of chicken stew sat in front of them, mixed with carrots, potatoes and bell peppers. He takes a small sniff, noting the different herby scents mixed in with the sauce. He tries poking at it but winces as Wato smacks his hand away with a wooden spoon. They bow their head, rubbing at his reddening skin.

"Chicken curry, it's a bit spicy so be prepared for that" , they explain, gesturing to a bowl of steaming hot rice, "you should pair it with this, it'll taste better"

Wifies does just that, scooping a few spoonfuls of rice into his plate before carefully ladling a portion of curry, making sure to gather as much of the meal inside the ladle as possible and pouring it on top. They mix a portion of the rice and soup together, cutting a small chunk off the chicken to eat and blowing a few times to let the rice cool, before taking a bite.

They watch with a smile on their face as Wifies' face lit up at the taste, ears perked and tails wagging happily, chewing slowly to savor it. His cheeks were flushed a light red, either from joy, or maybe because of the spice.

Wato leans against the wall, tail swaying with pride, watching as their pup slowly devoured their meal with a child-like delight.

It's been a few months since Ken saved Wifies while also simultaneously saving Wato from the effects of the Omz mask.

Wifies had been integrating well with life outside of the factory, slowly learning how to be human. Well, as human as a hybrid could be.

Both hybrids tried their best to help him adapt to his new found freedom, and thankfully their little pup learned fast, no longer needing that much guidance from them. Both hybrids were proud of Wifies's progress. Long gone was the shy and nervous little pup they saved from certain death, now replaced with a happy little bundle of sass that was too curious and too smart for his own good. Funny, sly, witty and willing to help you no matter the task.

He'd often invade Wato's space, hungry for knowledge, asking questions about his escape rooms and what all the different items were used for. In turn Wato would ask him questions, brainstorming with him if the mechanization was too poorly optimized, the puzzle too complex for an average player to solve, too easy, too obscure, sharing a grin of malice when they find different convoluted ways to confuse the player. Sometimes Wato lets Wifies loose in one of their escape room, making sure to keep him company as their pup navigated the rooms with a practice ease, no longer terrified of bedrock walls.

It was somewhat bittersweet, like watching your child grow up, no longer needing your guidance.

More recently, Wifies' been talking excitedly about his new adventures, exploring these abandoned worlds, supposedly haunted and swarming with dangerous entities. Said that he'd been investigating their origins, the reason the world had become as it was in the first place, trying to slowly unravel the story hidden inside the destroyed worlds no matter the cost, maybe even even solve the questions and mysteries the people who lived in them had left behind.

(Their fears kept growing despite Wifies saying he could handle himself. and it keeps growing and growing because they care about him. But they want him to be free and experience the world on his own without anyone trying to hold him back or control him. It grows, and it grows, and it festers and it claws and it whispers and it shouts, and it clings to them like a parasite. It will never stop growing.

And then one day he arrives standing as still as a statue before collapsing on the floor like a puppet whose strings got ripped away from it, eyes cloudy and haunted, body shaking like it was cold, clothing dirtied, taking deep shaky breaths like he'd been running away from something. Ken kept shaking him, pleading, asking him where he'd been and what happened. Wato moves to grab their pup's communicator, freezing at the words on the screen.

Department of Metaphysical Sciences

They're silent as they approach the two on the floor, they're silent when they show Ken what the email says and they're silent when Ken whispers to Wifies, absolutely horrified, "Wifies..what did you do?" ,and the pup remains silent no matter how many times Ken repeats her question.

The pup is silent as he leans against Ken, head bowed, bangs covering his face. Silent when Wato eventually approaches both of them, sandwiching Wifies in between them, holding him close. Silent when Ken and Wato hold him in their arms, protective, ready to defend.

He leans on Wato's shoulder and whispers, small, fragile, relieved, "He's free".

And he repeats it over and over again, until sleep claims its hold over him, lulling him into slumber as his friends pulled him closer.)

Both Wato and Ken have very disapproving thoughts of him essentially risking his life in the multitude of unknown worlds he explores —Ken's tail flicking with irritation, smile turning a bit too sharp and Wato's smile falling a fraction, ears twitching in displeasure—but decided against it, smiling and nodding alongside their pup's enthusiasm instead.

Honestly, Wato thinks they couldn't imagine a world where Wifies wasn't with them.

Okay, that's kinda an exaggeration. But it isn't entirely wrong, per say.

Wifies being here with Wato and Ken felt like something had finally…. clicked. You get them? No? That's honestly fine, they can't really properly explain it either. All they know is that Wifies being here with them, in their house, in their room, in their space, just felt…right in a way. Nothing else really mattered other than that.

There was one thing that mattered, actually.

Wifies, kinda, has a habit of adapting anything others do. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, it's mostly because he can easily copy behaviors, integrating it with himself. Again, not really a bad thing, unless you factor in the fact 'integrating' meant 'making it a part of his daily routine that it feels more like he's copying someone else instead of him doing it just because he likes doing it'.

Wato feels like they should curse out Wifies' creator because of it.

"Ensure the adaptability of the clone" ,the files they recovered had said. Yeah. Sure. "Adaptability"

Sure the idea made sense. Wifies was designed to solve puzzles, to learn through cause and effect, by responding to outside stimuli and thinking for himself. Because of this, Wifies is VERY susceptible to outside influences. It doesn't help that if you didn't know Wifies at all you wouldn't notice the difference! It's so infuriatingly subtle that neither Wato nor Ken can pick it up unless Wifies made it so blatantly obvious. They both felt particularly stupid when they had the slow realization that their pup had a habit of copying every little thing they do.

Was it because he cared so much about them that he learned all these little habits, trying to understand why they do it only to like it so much they ended up copying it, adding it into their little tallies on what it means to be human? They don't know. They do know that it's very, very adorable. Like a child copying every little thing their parents do. It could be something simple, like preferring a certain type of sweet because Wato liked that brand , or like when Ken's ears twitch while she solves a particularly tricky puzzle.

And sometimes it's Ken's lust for violence. Which is absolutely NOT adorable shut UP Ken this is YOUR. FAULT.

See, Ken and Wifies turned practically inseparable after everything that had happened. Not that Wato can blame them both. A LOT had happened between the two, it's natural that Ken would grow protective over their pup. It didn't help that their Wifies was a clone, there was a high chance that he was entirely incompatible with, well, anything. What would happen if Wifies were to die, would he re-spawn normally? Would it somehow damage him? Or would it be permanent, causing them to lose their dear friend? It drove them crazy with concern.

How does this relate to Wifies adopting Ken's blood thirst? They're getting to that, be patient.

You see, Ken absolutely loves sleeping.

Ken is a cat hybrid. What do cats typically love? Napping, sleeping, sunbathing, etc. Typical cat behavior. Oftentimes you'd see her near warm places in the house curled up and snoozing away peacefully.

Ken wants to keep Wifies close to keep him safe. Wifies wants to be in control of his decisions.

How to compromise without bulldozing over his personal space?

Simple.

Have naps with him.

He was hesitant at first, as he is with every new thing, stiff as a board the first few times Ken had managed to drag him in for one. She let him have his space before trying again and again, always casual, never pushy, never a command. Always gave him an out if he didn't want to.

The rejection hurts, Ken would confess when Wifies wasn't around, but she knew the wait would be worth it.

One day, Wato had come home to a sleeping Wifies cuddling contentedly with an awake Ken —uncommon, because Ken during cuddle time is a Ken who is dead to the world— who looked like she was about to combust, tail flicking wildly with delight. They stare at her, eyebrows questioning, and she perks up excitedly.

Apparently she'd been draped over the couch, basking at the warm sun while scrolling mindlessly, seemingly in deep thought. Then their pup in all his wisdom decided it was a good idea to flop, not on the couch no, but directly on her lap, scaring the living crap out of her. She swallowed the yelp that threatened to escape — barely registering her communicator falling from her grasp— and blinks when she sees eyes staring at her, wide and teary-eyed. Wifies' ears were pinned against his head and tail drooping sadly, looking every bit like a pathetic wet dog.

"Wifies" ,the clone let out a huff in acknowledgement. Ken stares at him.

"Wifies", a whine. He blinks his eyes a few more times, trying to manipulate Ken. It's not going to work.

"Wifiessssss" , the hybrid doesn't respond, just continues his staring. Ken can feel her resolve crack just a little bit.

They continue having a silent stand-off before Ken sighs in fake exasperation as she opens her arms up for a hug, ignoring her tail flicking behind her in excitement. She snorts as Wifies brightened, tail wagging furiously with excitement and laughs as he yelped loudly when Ken yanked him into a tight bear hug. Their pup glares at her for that, looking as intimidating as a small kitten. She laughs even louder.

Wifies huffs at her angrily, moving to hug Ken back but pauses, hesitant. Ken just watches him patiently, nuzzling at brown locks, purring slightly at the warmth their pup was radiating. They stayed like that for a while, seconds ticking and Ken getting sleepier and sleepier yawning. And then there are two arms wrapping around her and she thinks she's on cloud 9. He still looked unsure, and Ken would willingly stop breathing just to make Wifies comfortable. She couldn't stop her purring from getting louder embarrassingly enough but then Wifies relaxes in her embrace, hugging her back much more confidently and letting out rumble of contentment like he was mimicking a purr, and she feels like she might be able to kill an enderdragon and a wither back to back with her bare hands.

Her heart can't handle this, she swears it.

She lets herself calm down for a moment, nerves still buzzing with excitement, staring down at the now sleeping pup laying across her chest and lets herself think that the world was actually sunshine and rainbows and delightfully warm to the touch.

"And then you arrived, and that's basically it" ,Ken shrugs as much as she could with their pup leaning his whole body weight on top of her, ruffling the sleeping man's already messy hair.

Wato stares at the two and sighs, exasperated.

Afterwards, Ken had the bright idea of dragging Wifies to as many naps as she can, which is a lot in Wato's point of view. With how many times Ken had dragged the pup to her nap times it was inevitable that Wifies would pick up on it, sometimes they'd even drag Wato along. Wifies absolutely adored sleeping, just as much as Ken does. He'd have naps by himself at times too, as long as someone was in the room with him.

(He confided with them, once, surrounded by Wato and Ken's arms, warm and safe, whispered it inside Wato's shirt, gripping the fabric tightly in his hands that he didn't like being alone for too long, that being alone felt like he was back there again. He'd hissed that he hated the cold, because it reminded him too much of empty rooms and cold stares. Ken and Wato had hugged him tighter, unspoken words lingering in the air.)

Okay, so how is all this connected to Wifies adopting Ken's murder tendencies? Simply, really.

Ken is a cat that loves sleeping.

If you wake Ken up prematurely from her nap she will demolish you. If not physically, then verbally. If not verbally then emotionally. If not emotionally, she goes straight for your ego. If all options don't work then she finds a different, more effective way to get you 6 feet underground and make sure you stay there.

She'll grant mercy if given a good enough reason but would still glare at you with enough venom that can kill a horse.

And for some gods damned reason Wifies managed to inherit this behavior from Ken.

Of course his behavior was slightly more different. His bloodlust was hidden underneath his easy-going demeanor, tucked away deep inside him and rarely came out to hunt for prey. It only ever came out if he was sick (which rarely happens), pulled out a little too early from his nap when he just laid down to rest, bone-deep exhausted, or absolutely sleep-deprived.

Ken would kill you for fun.

Wato chided Ken, once, about how much of a bad influence he was on their technical toddler of a roommate. All she did was laugh at their face and say that they were overly dramatic.

It started off cute, Wifies glaring at Wato and Ken when he's woken up abruptly from his nap, looking more like an angry puppy compared to Ken's Death Glare (TM).

And then on some random Tuesday, Ken decided to barge in Wato's room unannounced, taking the door off its hinges with how strong she threw it open , and scaring the living daylights out of the green wolf. They glared at the cat, mouth open to yell at her but instead let out a loud "Oof!" as Ken barrels into them, sobbing dramatically into their blouse about their cub.

Wifies had been ignoring sleep completely for the past few days because of a recent haunted server he had managed to find, trying to desperately solve the stories buried in it. It was normal for him to be this passionate, but it was one of the very few times where he looked like he was about to collapse out of exhaustion. Both Ken and Wato did try to dissuade him once during dinner time, telling—and demanding— he slept first before continuing his investigation, which the brown haired pup vehemently refused.

"You need to sleep, Wifies!" ,Ken demanded, ears pinned in anger, "Whatever this mystery thing you're investigating can wait once you're fully rested!"

Wifies shakes his head, voice a bit louder than usual, "I'm so close to solving it, Ken. Once I find out I'll sleep, I promise." Ken looked like she was about to commit a felony.

"You said that 4 days ago, Wifies. FOUR!"

Chocolate brown ears pinned against Wifies' head in frustration, "It's different this time I swear. I'm so close to figuring it out, Ken!", Ken looked like she was about to physically fight him, "You said that 4 days ago as well!"

Wifies groans, hands hiding his face, "I swear this time is different."

"How?! How is this any different than the past three days you've stayed up?!"

"Because I'm this close to solving this mystery!"

Ken nearly slams her hands on the table as she stands, tail twitching angrily behind her, "And I'm this close to wrapping you up in a blanket and keeping you in there until you pass out!"

"It's not like I need sleep," Wifies argued, like he wasn't close to passing out and falling face first into his meal, like the dark bags under his eyes was just a fashion statement, "I'm a clone, I don't need sleep. All I need are answers, and those answers aren't going to present themselves on their own!"

The dog-hybrid stands up, taking his plate and stomping away with a huff, "I'm going to my room. Don't bother me unless Ken burnt the kitchen down again", the sound of his door slamming shut echoed in the silent house.

Ken looked like he wanted to follow —likely to continue arguing with him about how he still needed to sleep even if he was a clone—when Wato stopped her with an arm at his shoulder, shaking their head. She huffs, falling back down on her chair and finishing the last of their dinner with a sour look on her face, displeased.

A few moments forwards, with Wato sitting contently in their room designing new escape rooms and then we have Ken bursting into their room with the fury of a madwoman, murdering the poor door in the process, wailing dramatically like a banshee strung up on methamphetamine and despair before attempting murder by pouncing on them with a hug stronger than their patience.

"WATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO", the cat hybrid wailed, hiding her face inside the wolf hybrid's top, sobbing dramatically, "WaaaAAAaaAaaaAAAAtttTTtoooOOoOOoooOOooOooo"

Wato winced at the hug —and the loud obnoxious wailing— grabbing Ken by her hoodie and yanking her away, leveling her with a fierce glare, ears pinned to their head, "What's up with yo-?"

"OUR BABYYYYYYYYYYYY", she wailed. Wato quickly covered Ken's mouth to stop the yelling. They immediately pulled it away when they felt Ken licking their palm, face twisted with disgust. "Please keep your voice down," they scolded, unamused, "It's, like, 11pm right now and I'm pretty sure you'll piss Wifies off more if you keep yelling like this"

Ken blinked at Wato, teary-eyed, sniffling extra loud just to spite them, making an overly exaggerated pouty face at them, "But Watoooo-"

They sigh, pinching the bridge of their nose.

Apparently, Ken decided it was a great idea to brave the lion's den and barged straight inside Wifies' room with the biggest and thickest blanket they had to do exactly what she threatened Wifies with during dinner—how Wato didn't hear her break the hinges of their pup's room is a question for another time— and froze in the doorway.

The good news was that it did look like Wifies was close to solving the supposed mystery this corrupted world did have, which makes her happy and proud of their pup.

The bad news in Ken's eyes —like she wasn't a total hypocrite— was that he was still awake, tapping away on his computer like a man on a mission. Which he kinda was. In a sense.

And then Ken decided to go for the stupid decision of opening her mouth to berate Wifies yet again about how he should sleep and that she didn't care if he thought he didn't need to because he was a clone he WILL have a proper night's rest or she would knock him out herself. She didn't notice the way Wifies turned slowly in her direction, hair covering his face.

Didn't notice the way he was staring at him until she finally looked back at him, speech caught in her throat as Wifies GLARED at her for the first time since, well, ever!

So she stands there, frozen in place, unable to comprehend that their sweet, calm little Wifies could glare at her with so much venom that can kill multiple gods back to back. Even when Wifies gets up from his chair, taking the blanket she brought from her and draping it over himself and gently pushed her outside his room, nuzzling her apologetically and then silently closing it.

Ken stands there, mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, still trying to process what just happened.

Then she turns on her heel and ran towards Wato's room like a Minecraft speed runner aiming for a new world record, "WATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

.

.

Wato blinks owlishly, "….you do know it was your fault that Wifies even glared at you in the first place, right?"

Ken glares at them in return.

As Ken continued her very passionate and increasingly getting louder and louder by the minute angry speech ,which was somehow slowly turning into a whole other rant about how Wifies was entering his 'emo and rebellious phase' for some reason, Wato spots movement by their bedroom doorway.

They spot a very visibly exhausted Wifies rubbing their eyes tiredly wrapped in a thick fluffy pink blanket that Wato was 100% certain belonged to them. The wolf hybrid raises an eyebrow questioningly at him which their pup ignored in favor of glaring at the still loudly talking cat hybrid (whose speech has once again changed topics into who to ban Wifies from meeting because of their supposed bad influence?), stalking towards her silently like a wolf before grabbing Ken by the waist and hoisting her up in the air.

Ken let out an ear piercing screech, clawing angrily at the air as Wifies, unperturbed by her increasingly frantic movements, carried the very angry and willing to murder Kenadian towards Wato's bed. Dropping her down on the soft mattress with the gentleness of a mother bird throwing her chicks off their nests.

The cat hybrid moved, ready to give Wifies a verbal lashing when the pup decided to flop down on top of Ken, wrapping the blanket—as well as his arms and legs—around her, nuzzling her cheek affectionately before instantly falling asleep. She blinked, bewildered at the sudden turn of events, then laughs softly, hugging the sleeping man's head closer to her and nuzzling his slightly matted hair, purring loudly at the hug and warmth.

Wato just shakes their head at the scene, walking towards the bed with a small smile. They laid on the empty spot besides Wifies, tugging the blanket so that it would cover all of them equally before hugging the pup close to their chest, closing their eyes and letting the warmth settle into their bones.

..

.

"……You know he inherited that glare from you right" "Shush"

"…and the obsession" "Shut up"

"…….and the blood lust" "If one more word comes out of your mouth I swear to god-"

A pause, then, "…He inherited that too" "SHUT UP!"

Wifies moves to wack the both of them on their heads before going back to sleep, this time facing Wato instead of Ken. Her look of complete and utter betrayal was utterly priceless to Wato, letting it stain her mind as they hugged Wifies close and letting sleep cradle them, smiling when they felt Ken's arms wrapping around the both of them loosely.
