With Every Beat Of My Heart

Summary:

“Goodnight, sweetheart. I love you.” Changbin grazes his fingertips against the side of Hyunjin’s hair, so delicate like one wrong move and Hyunjin would break. Hyunjin knows Changbin would never let that happen though.

“Goodnight, my love. I love you too, with every beat of my heart.” Hyunjin said, pouring all his love into the confession, because he meant it.

-

Hyunjin loves Changbin. Changbin loves Hyunjin.

Notes:

Hi! This is my first Hyunibini fic (and the first time I’ve written anything in over 7 years) so sorry if it’s not that good. I just love hyunibini so much and I needed some cute domesticity between them.

Thanks for reading in advance, I hope you like it :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Hyunjin was alone.

Well, not really. The muffled music and voices coming from inside his apartment, drowning out as he stared out into the dark, slightly chilly, spring night.

It was one of those nights where his friends would gather, talk and catch up with each other, never running out of things to say.

Sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming, Hyunjin loves his friends quite dearly, but his social battery runs down easily so he just needs to get away.

The moon and the stars paint such a beautiful picture in the sky, Hyunjin wishes he could take a picture and it be exactly how his eyes perceive but it would never look the same. Maybe he could try paint it instead.

Hyunjin got so lost in his thoughts, he didn’t hear the sliding of the balcony door open and shut. It wasn’t until strong, safe arms wrapped around his waist and a chin settled itself on his shoulder, already recognising the scent, knowing who it was. It was always him.

“I was wondering where you’d escaped to.” Changbin mumbled. His hot breath blowing on Hyunjin’s skin.

Hyunjin smiled and placed his hands atop of Changbin’s. The night was on the colder side and he probably should’ve put a jacket on before he came out, but he felt so warm in the elder’s embrace.

He suppressed a small giggle when he thought to himself, Changbin must be on his tiptoes.

Instead of giving him an answer, Hyunjin turned towards him and looped his arms around Changbin’s neck, the other’s arms immediately wrapping around him, bringing him closer.

Now that they were face to face, Hyunjin could see the adoring, sparkle in Changbin’s eyes and the loving smile accompanying them. He subconsciously stroked the hairs at the back of Changbin’s neck.

“Hi.” Hyunjin smiled.

“Hey.” Changbin answered back, his hands starting to move up and down Hyunjin’s back. The worries and anxieties now completely vanishing. Hyunjin was so in love.

“I was looking at the moon.” Hyunjin explained, slightly turning his head and looking up to the sky. He probably didn’t need to explain himself, Changbin would go to the ends of the earth for him, no doubt about it.

“It’s pretty,” Changbin glanced up, looking past Hyunjin’s shoulder, “but you know what’s prettier?” He brought his hand up and gently placed it on the younger’s cheek, a finger slightly brushing over the mole under Hyunjin’s eye. “You, always you, sweetheart.”

Hyunjin felt his face getting warm, Changbin could probably feel it under his palm. He’d usually roll his eyes at the cheesy comments the elder would constantly throw his way, but tonight, he didn’t pretend it didn’t melt him inside.

He could see the elder’s lips start to upturn into a smirk, so before he could say anything else, Hyunjin shook his head only slightly before leaning forward and pressing their lips together.

Changbin’s arms immediately tightened, trying to press their bodies as close as he can, eventually turning his head so he can deepen the kiss.

It only lasted a couple minutes before they slowly broke away, stopping only a short distance away, lips centimetres apart, foreheads touching with their arms still entangled.

“You make me crazy, Hyunjin-ah.” Changbin whispered. It felt like they were staring into each other’s souls, only finding just the two of them and their love. Their heartbeats continuously beating in sync.

“Me too, hyung.” Hyunjin whispered back. “I love you.”

Changbin smiled sweetly, quickly brushing their lips together again before pulling away. “I love you too, sweetheart. So much.”

The moment was interrupted by a loud crash and the balcony doors banging open. They both turned their heads to see Jisung stumbling out, a red cup filled with whatever the younger had found in their kitchen.

“T’was wondering where you two got to.” Jisung managed to get out. “S’people are leaving, wanted to say goodbye.” He motioned back towards the apartment, slightly swaying.

Changbin reluctantly let go of Hyunjin and swiftly made his way to Jisung, steadying him. “I think it’s time you go as well, Jisungie. Did Minho-hyung let you drink this much?”

“He isn’t the boss of me, I can drink what I want.”

Hyunjin snorted. “Yeah whatever you say, princess.”

“Hey! That was one time.” Jisung pointed an accusing finger, “I can’t believe he said that in front of you guys.” He mumbled to himself.

The three of them made their way inside, the music had been shut off, the lights were turned up again, and bodies were already making their way to the hallway, pulling on coats.

Minho turned as Changbin approached, a wasted Jisung slung to his shoulder.

“I believe this one is yours.” Changbin said, gently passing Jisung to Minho, helping steady the younger’s arms over his boyfriend’s shoulders.

“Thanks, Changbin-ah.” Minho smiled. “Goodnight you two, thanks for a good evening.”

“You’re welcome, anytime. See you soon.” Hyunjin walked over to them and patted Jisung on the back, the man drifting off in the embrace of his lover. “Take care, Jisungie.”

Eventually everyone left, leaving the two of them, once again, alone.

Hyunjin started gathering some of the trash from the living room, heading towards the kitchen to dispose of it.

There he found his lover, grumbling as he was picking up empty bottles and placing them in rubbish bags.

Their eyes meet for a second before Changbin carries on disposing the alcohol, tipping the half empty ones down the sink.

“They leave so much mess.” He grumbled. “And they drank our whole liquor cabinet.”

Hyunjin grinned, Changbin was so cute. Especially when he was pretending to be angry.

He walked towards the elder and wrapped his arms around his shoulders from behind, using his height as an advantage. “Hmm but you love them anyway.”

The tension that was formally in Changbin’s shoulders immediately disappeared as Hyunjin felt him go limp in his arms. “Doesn’t mean I can’t still be mad at them. They owe us like 5 bottles of wine.”

Hyunjin laughed, which he realised was probably very loud in the elder’s ear, so he quickly gave him a kiss there to soothe him. “Okay, honey.”

Changbin sighed, dropping the bags, the bottles clinking as they made contact with the floor and turning around, immediately attaching his hands at Hyunjin’s lithe waist.

The younger’s hands finding their place on the elder’s shoulders, briefly brushing down his arms and squeezing at his biceps.

Hyunjin bent his head down and softly kissed him, Changbin eagerly meeting him halfway.

They pulled apart, eyes never leaving each other. Changbin reached up to brush his hand through Hyunjin’s hair, smiling as his eyes fluttered closed at the feeling.

“Let’s go to bed, shall we?” Changbin suggested. “We can clean up properly in the morning.”

Hyunjin hummed and nodded, eyes still closed. He felt the elder take his hands and lead him to their bedroom before gently laying him down. He heard the sound of drawers opening and closing and then felt something cold and wet on his eyes, he jumped at the sensation, immediately feeling the elder stroke his hair again, making him instantly shut his eyes again.

“Sorry, Hyunjinnie. I’m just taking your make-up off.” Changbin apologised quickly, nothing but love in his voice. He cautiously carried on with his movements.

Hyunjin smiled for the nth time that night. He loves Changbin so much. He can’t wait to see what their future looks like.

He envisions them getting married, the matching outfits, the ceremony surrounded by the people they love.

He sees them buying a bigger house together. A big garden, so in the summer they can sit outside with their family and friends.

He thinks about when Changbin is 25 years into his producing career and they’re not as busy as idols, when younger and new groups are taking the spotlight. He hopes he can settle down and they can spend more time with each other, just the two of them.

Thinking, possibly having kids with Changbin.

They never really talked about that but Hyunjin knows Changbin would give him the world if he asked him.

He must’ve fell asleep, he can’t help it, especially with how gentle Changbin was being with him. He woke up to feel two tiny kisses on his eye lids, kisses on his cheeks, a kiss on his forehead and a kiss on the mole under his eye, before he felt the lips he dreams of, slowly pressing themselves softly onto his own.

Hyunjin reaches up to touch Changbin’s cheeks, realising he was also in bed now, arms safely wrapped around him.

He looks up from where his body had automatically rolled over to snuggle into Changbin, head on his chest, to already find Changbin looking at him, that fond look, the one Hyunjin still couldn’t get used to after all these years.

He still can’t believe he gets to call this perfect man his.

They shared one final sweet kiss before, Hyunjin shuffles down again, tucking his head perfectly in the crook of Changbin’s shoulder, the elder’s hands finding home on his back and waist.

Hyunjin can’t wait to do this again and again and again for as long as he has. Sharing his life with his most precious person.

Hyunjin doesn’t think his life could get any better but everyday Changbin proves him wrong. He shows him an unconditional love, he takes care of him, he makes him laugh, he shows him that love isn’t just saying those three words. He always puts a hundred percent in what he says and does.

And Hyunjin fucking loves him.

He’s not as good as Changbin when it comes to expressing his feelings, but he shows it through the little things. Like the paintings he does, whether it’s the ones he gifts to him directly or the ones he puts up in their apartment sometimes followed by Changbin’s curious voice going, “what does this one mean?” But most time it’s self-explanatory and Changbin will just smile, call it perfect, before pulling Hyunjin into a kiss.

Hyunjin thinks that maybe that question is slowly creeping up faster than he thought. He doesn’t know whether it will be Changbin asking, or himself asking. He thinks about the box with the matching shiny objects tucked away in his drawer. He thinks maybe there’s not a right time to do it, but just to do it, one day. He thinks maybe that day is soon.
