Chapter Text

This is the Dual Era, where Giants and Dragons dominating the races of the world.

Humans fractured under the instigation of dragons, mutants, and demons. Giants and others saw themselves as divine creatures, no longer human.

As for humans themselves? The only creatures with no extraordinary strengths and traits?

Their fate was placed on the bottom barrel of society. The lowest of all.

It might sound weird, but being born a commoner from birth could be considered a true luxury.

For the boy, at least.

A boy with a small frame, shabby appearance and short statue, which body seems to be consisted of only bones due to how thin he is.

He was a slave from birth, spending his early years of childhood surrounded by the tall and looming figures of the Giants. His head had been trained to bow as lowly as it could, to never distract the great and noble Giants' sights with his dirty face– face of humans, the weakest existence on the world, they said and laughed and their mocking gazes and tone and booming voices being carved deep inside his mind yet it failed to sprout the hatred pointed to them like how they expected him to have

He is like a mindless puppet, and only the low rise and fall of his chest- which are also almost unrecognizable- confirmed that he is indeed, alive.

Maybe that's the reason they spared him for a while. Spare him to live for a few more days than others. To keep them entertained with his dull expression when they feast on his kin, when he has to clean the blood of humans or other creatures with his small, tiny hands that always struggled to remove the crimson-brown stains and would continue their laugh, their mock and then spit to his face.

And the face remained indifference.

Nothing surface. Like a stagnant, undisturbed lake.

And maybe that's also why they have had enough with him, and drag him along their preparation before marching to the waging War of the Betrayers- only to hang him near an unknown cliff, his body swaying slightly following the blows of wind.

“-Those bloodsuckers truly mess with him.” One speak in the Giant’s tongue, follows by the loud laughter. By then, they had walked away, weapons in hand, leaving him to die alone at the abandoned place.

The boy was unable to understand a thing, though.

He blankly stares at the bottomless pit beneath his feet, letting his head droop, sensing the ropes bounding his wrists above his head loosening bit by bit with every second flowing by.

He doesn’t know how long he was in that state.

But when the boy is ready to close his eyes to allow himself the luxury of his last sleep, he was suddenly lifted up from behind.

He faced the figure who seems to be completely enveloped by his dark robes. The thick grey fogs swirled simultaneously around the said person, especially the place where his eyes were located.

“…What are you doing here?” The figure asked.

The boy didn’t answer; for he had no idea how to speak and didn’t even understand the language spoken.

The dark pupils hidden by the fogs flickered with a golden light for a second.

The figure seems to come to a sudden realization, and his mouth slightly parted in disbelief.

“-A mutant?”

He laughed then, cackling so hard his voice cracked, his shoulders trembled wildly in unexplainable emotions and bewilderment-

The boy merely stares.

After coming to his senses, the figure adjusted his hold; bringing the boy closer to cradle the boy with a somewhat stiff movements as he is unsure how fragile the boy might be- and reached his hand to pat his head slowly.

“Would you like to come with me?”

Again, the boy didn’t answer.

But the figure didn’t need for his opinion as he himself decided for the boy.

With a snap, they both vanished from the place.
