Work Text:
Overtime, Midoriya had gotten used to Aoyama randomly camping out on his balcony, it was just part of his life now.
What he hadn't expected however, was that Aoyama wasn't the only one of his classmates to hang around outside his room.
It was 10:00 pm, not too late, but Midoriya had decided to go to bad now anyways, All Might had asked him to train with him tomorrow, and he wanted to be well rested.
He had just gotten in bed when he heard a thump on his balcony. Midoriya figured it was Aoyama and let it go. Sometimes Aoyama would knock on the window and ask to sleep in the room.
Midoriya knew that Aoyama wasn't particularly close to anyone in the class, plus both of their quirks damaged their bodies, if for different reasons. Because of this, he let Aoyama stay with him sometimes, Midoriya too knew what it was like to feel alone and less than your peers.
There wasn't anymore sounds from his balcony, so Midoriya figured that it was just one of those nights that Aoyama was just stopping by.
Midoriya fell asleep quickly, he didn't always, but tonight he did, unfortunately he was woken up almost immediately after.
He woke up to a yell. It sounded like Aoyama. What happened? Did he fall?
Midoriya scrambled out of bed to check, he hoped Aoyama wasn't hurt.
But when he reached the balcony, he saw that Aoyama was fine, Midoriya also saw that he wasn't the only one out there.
"Uraraka? What are you doing on my balcony?"
She turned to face him, eyes wide. "How come you're not asking Aoyama, he's here too."
He was too tired for this right now. "Uraraka, he's fine Aoyama just comes here sometimes, he's lonely, he's my friend. It just works." Midoriya wasn't sure if Aoyama considered him to be a friend or not, but he wasn't going to tell Uraraka that a classmate who wasn't his friend was just peeping through his window in the middle of the night.
Uraraka seemed like she was finally going to answer him about why she was here when. Another one of his friends lands on the balcony as well.
"Todoroki!?" This came from Uraraka, who Midoriya personally thought sounded too awake for the time.
Though, he too wanted to know what Todoroki was doing.
"Hello Uraraka, is this some kind of meeting" Oh, so Todoroki was just confused. Midoriya could just explain to him... that what? Aoyama just hangs around outside his room? That Uraraka stopped by for reasons still unknown?
"If I would have known, I would have came by to watch Midoriya another day." Wait what?
"Todoroki," Midoriya asked slowly, maybe he had meant something else, "what exactly do you mean you 'came to watch me?'"
Todoroki blinked at him, "I came to watch you, I just want to make sure you're okay. You're always hurting yourself." That did sound kind of nice of him, also Midoriya couldn't judge anyone for what they were doing, he knowingly let's Aoyama do it.
Uraraka spoke up again, "Deku, I came here to do the same." Midoriya wasn't sure, but it seemed like her cheeks were flushed.
"Ooh lala! Sure you did mon ami." This came from Aoyama. He didn't understand what he meant, but that wasn't uncommon with Aoyama.
"Hey extras, what are you doing on Deku's balcony!?"
"Kacchan?" Is this all? Is anyone else going to decide that they should come over to his balcony?
"Deku, what, are you having some nerd gathering?" Midoriya thought that Kacchan could be nicer if he tried, not that he would ever say that to his face. He also didn't point out that Kacchan had better grades than any of them. He didn't have a death wish.
"Bakugou, did you come to watch Midoriya too?"
"Damn you Icy-hot, why would I be here to watch Deku?" Midoriya wasn't sure either, why would Todoroki think that? It wasn't something Kacchan would do. Though it did seem to be the sort of thing that would make sense to Todoroki.
"Then why are you here?" Todoroki has a point. Why was Kacchan here? He sort of knew why the others were here, but not Kacchan.
"None of your business extra!" He watched as Kacchan used his quirk to move from Midoriya's balcony, to his own.
After that, they all just piled into Midoriya's room.
Obviously there was only one bed, and Midoriya didn't want anyone sleeping on the floor, and nobody else wanted Midoriya sleeping on the floor, so they just got into a sort of lump on the bed. Everyone partially on top of somebody else.
They slept like that until morning.
Midoriya had been called into Nedzu's office, he wondered if it was about last night.
Would he get in trouble? Would any of the others?
He couldn't remember if staying in someone else's dorm room was specifically against any rule or not.
When Midoriya reached Nedzu's office, the door opened and he stepped inside.
"Welcome Midoriya! Am I a dog, a mouse, or a bear? What's important is I am the principal!" Midoriya wondered if principal Nedzu said that everytime he talked to someone.
"You- um, called me here?" It came out like a question, even if he hadn't meant for it to be one.
"Yes, I did. You see, I've decided that I've had my fun, I'd like to show you something that I have observed over the past few weeks that might be if interest to you." So it didn't have anything to do with last night? If not, than what did Nedzu want to show him?
Nedzu turned his computer around to face Midoriya.
Midoriya looked at the screen, it showed outside of his dorm room. He saw that the time stamp was from two weeks ago.
Nothing happened for a bit, but then he saw Uraraka land his balcony and peek through his window before floating away again.
He hadn't known that last night wasn't a one time occurrence, but it didn't seem like a big deal to him.
Nedzu pulled up a different video, this time one of Aoyama.
Midoriya actually remembered this one, it was the time that Aoyama had left cheese spelling out 'I know.'
Todoroki was next, he watched as video Todoroki looked into Midoriya's room and proceeded to sit, staring into his room for hours.
He thought that was all, but apparently not. Midoriya watched as Kacchan landed on the balcony and sit against the door. Almost like he was trying to protect him.
Midoriya had a million questions on his mind, but he went with the one that he probably shouldn't have said in front of the principal. "What the fuck?"
