Their Sweet Little Sin

Summary:

“You’re not going anywhere, little incubus. Not when those pretty red eyes keep looking at us like that.”

Orphaned incubus Jungkook—marked as defective by his single horn—never expected rescue from Heaven’s most powerful angel coven after a brutal beating in Purgatory. Taken to their floating estate, the shy, touch-starved demon slowly finds safety and affection in the arms of six possessive angels who see every “flaw” in him as perfect.

But Heaven does not forgive demons in its realm. As prejudice, investigations, and old traumas close in, Jungkook discovers just how far his protectors will go to keep what they’ve claimed.

Chapter Text

The Purgatory borderlands stretched out like an old scar between worlds, cracked earth baked hard under a sky that never quite decided between Heaven’s gold and Hell’s ember-red. Late afternoon light filtered through a haze of dust and faint sulfur, painting everything in bruised oranges and fading violets. Jungkook kept his hood half-up, the worn dark cloak tugged close around his shoulders. It wasn’t much, but it hid the worst of him from casual glances—the single obsidian horn curling from the right side of his head, the faint red veins inside it catching what little light there was, and the spade-tipped tail he tried to keep wrapped discreetly against his leg.

He had just come from the outer markets, the ones that clung to the neutral zone like barnacles on old ruins. A small bundle of dried herbs and a loaf of hard bread weighed down the inside pocket of his cloak. Nothing special. Just enough to get by another few days in the shack he called home near the Hell-side edge. Travel permits were a joke if you were a demon trying to move anywhere decent, and Heaven? Forget it. Angels needed papers even to step foot in Purgatory for anything official, and demons like him weren’t welcome anywhere cleaner than this dust-choked stretch.

The realms had always been this way, or so the old stories went. Heaven floated above it all—crystal spires and ordered gardens, where beings of light kept everything neat and righteous. Hell churned below, raw and alive with power and chaos, resource-rich but forever painted as the place where virtue went to die. And Purgatory? The vast in-between. Ruins of forgotten wars, bustling black markets, wandering traders, and enforcement golems—massive stone constructs bound by pacts older than any living soul—that supposedly kept the worst of the fighting from spilling over. Fragile peace, they called it. Jungkook had never seen it feel very peaceful.

A shout cut through the dry wind, followed by sharp, mocking laughter.

Jungkook’s tail twitched hard under the cloak. His steps slowed on the cracked stone path. Up ahead, near a cluster of half-fallen pillars that might have once been part of some ancient border shrine, three figures in pale uniforms stood over a smaller shape curled on the ground.

Angels. Low-ranking by the look of their single pairs of plain white wings and the modest halos glowing above their heads—simple circles of light, not the intricate, personality-shaped ones the higher-ups had. One of them kicked the small demon—a young imp, barely more than a kid by the size of those leathery wings—right in the side. A weak bolt of light followed, sizzling against the imp’s shoulder and leaving a raw burn.

“Come on, you little pest,” one angel sneered. “Thought you could scurry around our patrol route?”

The imp whimpered, trying to curl tighter.

Jungkook’s chest tightened. He knew better. He really did. Stepping in never ended well for someone like him—an incubus, and a defective one at that. Single horn. No matching left one. Even among demons it marked him as unlucky, weak, wrong. But the kid was just lying there, taking it.

His spade tail flicked once more, nerves singing. Don’t, a tired voice in his head whispered. Just keep walking.

Instead, he stepped forward.

“Hey,” Jungkook called, voice softer than he wanted but steady enough. He pushed the hood back a little so they could see his face. “He didn’t do anything. Just let him go.”

The three angels turned. Their expressions shifted from annoyance to cruel delight the moment they clocked him—small fangs peeking when he spoke, the visible curve of his horn, the tail tip that had slipped free in his movement.

“Well, well,” the tallest one drawled, wings flaring slightly. “Look what we’ve got. A filthy incubus whore coming to play hero for his own kind.”

Another laughed, low and mean. “One-horned freak. Even your own kind doesn’t want you, huh? What’s a broken little lust demon doing out here pretending he’s got a spine?”

The third one grinned, halo brightening with a sharp edge. “Should be on your knees where your kind belongs. Sucking cock and draining whoever’s stupid enough to touch you. Not playing savior.”

Jungkook’s cheeks burned, but he kept his expression even. He’d heard it all before. The stereotypes followed incubi and succubi like shadows—manipulative, sex-crazed, life-force thieves. Some were. Plenty weren’t. But angels got to decide the story, and everyone else lived in it.

He summoned a thin pair of shadow tendrils—nothing strong, just enough to gently push the nearest angel back a step—and crouched quickly beside the imp. “You okay?” he murmured. “Can you stand?”

The imp’s wide eyes met his, full of terror and a flicker of gratitude. Small claws gripped Jungkook’s sleeve as he helped the kid up.

The angels didn’t like that.

A blast of light hit Jungkook’s left shoulder like a hot iron. Pain flared, burning through cloth and skin. He staggered. Another angel lunged, grabbing the base of his tail and yanking hard. The sensitive spade tip screamed; his balance shattered and he dropped to one knee with a choked sound.

“Get the hell off him!” Jungkook gasped, but a fist connected with his face. His own fang split his lip. Copper flooded his mouth.

The imp bolted. In the chaos of swinging limbs and flashing light, the kid scrambled free and ran toward the Hell-side border without looking back. Jungkook caught one last glimpse of those small wings before the dust swallowed him. A pang hit deeper than the physical blows. It’s fine, he told himself. I’d run too.

Then it was just him.

They were on him in seconds.

Boots drove into his ribs, once, twice, forcing the air from his lungs. He curled instinctively, arms over his head to shield his horn. Another kick landed in his stomach. Pain bloomed white-hot. A heavy boot ground down on his tail, pinning the spade tip into the dirt. The pressure made his vision spark.

One of them grabbed his single horn—fingers rough, uncaring—and yanked his head back. A shallow cut opened along the curve as a blade of light grazed it. It stung like fire on raw nerves.

“Disgusting lust demon,” the angel hissed close to his ear. “You’ll never be anything but a whore. One horn means you’re broken. Should’ve been culled at birth.”

Jungkook bit down hard on his already-split lip, fresh blood mixing with the old. Tears burned at the corners of his eyes but he refused to let them fall. Not here. Not for them. His tail tried to curl protectively around his leg, but the boot kept it trapped. Every breath hurt. Bruised ribs screamed. The burn on his shoulder throbbed in time with his heartbeat.

They kept going—more kicks, more slurs, more laughter. “Filthy incubus. One-horned freak.” The words blurred together. He focused on the dirt under his cheek, cool and gritty, and the fading red light of the sky.

Eventually, they got bored.

A final hard kick to his back sent him sprawling face-down. Spit landed near his head. Footsteps retreated, still chuckling about “teaching border trash a lesson.”

Jungkook lay there, breathing shallow and ragged. Blood trickled from his lip, from the graze on his horn. His tail ached fiercely where it had been stepped on. Every inhale sent sharp protests through his ribs. The world tilted, hazy at the edges.

Then something shifted.

New presences. Powerful ones. Three of them, approaching fast. Golden light bloomed at the edge of his blurring vision—bright, multi-winged silhouettes against the bruised sky. The air hummed with raw angelic energy.

Distant voices now. Sharp. Angry. The sounds of a fight breaking out—wings cutting air, light clashing against light, surprised shouts from the low-rank angels who had just been leaving.

Jungkook’s fingers twitched weakly against the dirt. He tried to lift his head, but the effort was too much. All he could do was lie there, vision swimming, as the golden light grew closer and the sounds of conflict sharpened.

More angels, his fading thoughts supplied. Great.

But something about these ones felt… different. He couldn’t place it before the haze pulled him under.

Golden light flooded the border wasteland, cutting through the bruised dusk like a blade. Jungkook’s vision swam in and out, the grit of dirt pressing into his cheek, the metallic taste of blood thick on his tongue. He heard the low-rank angels’ footsteps falter, their mocking laughter choking off into startled curses.

“What the—?”

“Who the hell—”

A deep, unimpressed voice sliced through the tension. “You’re done here.”

The new arrivals landed with barely a sound, yet the air itself seemed to shift—heavier, charged, humming with ancient power. Jungkook cracked his eyes open just enough to catch glimpses: three towering figures, wings spread wide. One pair dark-tipped and powerful. Another set with elegant smaller wings fluttering at the back of a neck. All of them glowing with that pure, overwhelming celestial gold.

The low-rank angels dropped to their knees almost instantly, wings trembling.

“Lord Yoongi—Lord Jimin—Lord Taehyung,” one stammered. “This filthy one-horned incubus interfered with our patrol. He attacked us first. We were simply—”

“Attacked you?” The one called Jimin let out a soft, dangerous laugh. His halo shimmered, intricate and luminous, shifting like liquid starlight. “While you were kicking a child half to death? We watched the whole pathetic display from above.”

Taehyung stepped forward, his presence warm yet crackling with restrained fury. His own halo pulsed with geometric precision edged in warmth, and those extra neck wings flared slightly as he surveyed the scene. “You picked the wrong evening to play judge, jury, and idiot.”

Yoongi didn’t bother with more words. His expression remained cool, almost bored, but his dark-tipped wings flexed once and the temperature around them dropped. He raised a hand.

The fight—if it could even be called that—lasted less than two minutes.

Taehyung moved first. A burst of radiant light erupted from his palm, slamming two of the attackers off their feet and into the broken pillars behind them. Stone cracked. Wings bent at unnatural angles. The third angel tried to summon a barrier, but Jimin was already there, moving with blurring speed. His neck wings flared, and chains of pure holy light whipped out, wrapping around the angel’s wrists and throat. The low-rank soldier screamed as the light seared through his uniform.

Yoongi handled the last one with clinical precision. Shadow-laced celestial energy coiled around his fingers like midnight threads woven through sunlight. He flicked them forward and the angel’s wing crumpled with an audible snap. A deep burn blossomed across the attacker’s chest, his basic halo flickering wildly before shattering into fading sparks.

“Pathetic,” Yoongi muttered, voice low and rasping.

The three low-rank angels lay groaning in the dirt, broken and bound by glowing wards that appeared around them like living scripture. Yoongi traced a final sigil in the air above them. “The golems will collect you. Try explaining your ‘patrol’ to the border tribunal. If you’re lucky, they’ll only strip your ranks.”

Jimin and Taehyung were already turning away from the wreckage, their attention shifting entirely to the curled figure on the ground.

Jungkook flinched hard when footsteps approached. Pain flared through his ribs as he tried to curl tighter, face hidden against his arms, his injured tail wrapping weakly around his leg in a pitiful attempt at protection. His single horn throbbed where the light blade had grazed it. Every breath hurt. He waited for more boots. More light. More words that would cut deeper than any burn.

Instead, a gentle warmth settled over his shoulder—the worst of the burns. Soft golden light seeped into his skin, knitting torn flesh with careful, soothing pulses. It didn’t erase everything, but the sharp agony dulled to a deep ache.

“Hey…” A smooth, melodic voice. “You’re safe now. We’re not like them. Breathe for me, okay?”

Jungkook dared to lift his head a fraction. Large, glassy doe eyes met Jimin’s concerned gaze. For a split second, something deep inside him stirred—relief so sudden and unfamiliar that his irises flickered, a brief flash of deep blood-red bleeding into the warm brown before vanishing again. His split lip trembled.

“Thank you…” The words came out hoarse, barely more than a whisper. He tried to push himself up anyway, elbows shaking. “I—I don’t want to cause trouble. I can… I can go.”

Taehyung knelt closer, careful not to crowd him. His voice was low and reassuring, like warm honey. “You’re not going anywhere like this. Look at you—ribs, tail, that horn graze. Stay still, little one.”

Yoongi stood a few paces back, arms crossed over his chest, wings half-folded. His halo glowed steady and geometric, sharp lines that spoke of control and quiet power. “He’s an incubus, Tae. One-horned at that. This is a bad idea. We came to secure the border, not collect strays.”

Jimin shot him a look, still channeling healing light into Jungkook’s shoulder and side. “You saw what they did to him. Leaving him here is the same as finishing the job. The border’s crawling with scum tonight.”

“He’s right,” Taehyung added, one hand hovering near Jungkook’s horn without touching it. “He stepped in to protect a kid. Doesn’t exactly scream ‘dangerous lust demon,’ does it?”

Jungkook’s tail twitched. He kept his gaze down, cheeks burning under the grime and blood. “Please… I really can manage. I’ve had worse.” The lie tasted bitter. His voice cracked anyway. When he finally looked up at Yoongi—the most reluctant of the three—his eyes were wide, pained, and shining with unshed tears he refused to let fall. “I don’t want to burden anyone. I’ll just… go back to the edge. It’s fine.”

Yoongi stared at him for a long moment. Something in that teary, earnest gaze chipped at the ice he usually kept wrapped tight around himself. He exhaled sharply through his nose, running a hand through his hair.

“Fine,” he muttered. “Only until he heals. Then he goes back. No arguments.”

Jimin’s face lit up with a soft, victorious smile. Taehyung grinned, already sliding his arms carefully beneath Jungkook. “Easy now.”

Jungkook stiffened at first when strong arms lifted him princess-style against a broad chest, but the warmth was overwhelming. Taehyung smelled like sun-warmed stone and faint citrus. Without thinking, Jungkook’s injured tail curled weakly around the angel’s wrist, seeking some small anchor. The spade tip trembled but held on.

Jimin draped his own cloak over Jungkook, hiding the horn and most of the tail. “There. Just in case.”

They took flight.

Wind rushed past as the three powerful angels rose into the sky, concealment magic wrapping around them like a shimmering veil. Jungkook caught fragmented glimpses—the border shrinking below, the vast neutral wastelands giving way to cleaner air, then the luminous ascent toward Heaven’s lower gates. Every beat of Taehyung’s wings sent gentle jolts through him, but the pain felt distant now, muffled by exhaustion and the steady thrum of healing light still pulsing from Jimin’s hand on his arm.

Halfway through the journey, Jungkook’s head lolled against Taehyung’s chest. The steady heartbeat there, strong and reassuring, pulled him under completely.

The grand floating estate emerged from golden clouds like something out of a dream—crystal spires catching eternal light, layered gardens spilling over elegant edges, ancient wards shimmering faintly in the air. It hovered high in upper Heaven, isolated and impossibly beautiful.

Taehyung landed gracefully in the main hall’s wide entrance courtyard, wings folding as Jimin and Yoongi touched down beside him. Jungkook remained limp in his arms, breathing shallow but even, blood still drying on his lip and cheek.

Distant voices echoed from inside the sunlit hall.

“—and if Namjoon thinks we’re adding another verse to that old hymn, he’s lost his mind this century—”

Seokjin’s voice, warm and teasing, cut off abruptly.

Three more presences appeared at the grand archway. Namjoon, Hoseok, and Seokjin stepped out, wings half-spread in surprise. Their halos brightened at the sight of the bloodied incubus cradled against Taehyung’s chest.

Hoseok’s eyes widened. “What in the realms happened?”

Seokjin’s ornate, radiant halo flared. “Taehyung, is that a demon? Bleeding all over my marble—”

Yoongi sighed, already walking ahead.

“Long story. He’s staying. Temporarily.”

Jimin’s hand rested protectively on Jungkook’s back beneath the cloak. “He’s ours to look after now.”

The words hung in the luminous air of the estate as the full coven gathered closer, drawn by the unexpected, fragile presence in their midst.

Seokjin’s ornate halo flared brighter for a moment, casting warm golden patterns across the polished crystal floors of the main hall. “Taehyung, you’re dripping blood on the marble. Again.” Despite the complaint, he was already moving, sleeves rolled up with practiced efficiency. “Bring him this way. The east healing wing—quickly.”

Namjoon’s steady geometric halo pulsed once as he took in the scene, wings shifting with quiet authority. “What happened at the border? We felt the disturbance from the library.”

Hoseok’s swirling halo danced with restless light, two pairs of elegant wings half-unfurled behind him. “He looks like he went through a meat grinder. Poor thing.”

Yoongi just grunted, trailing after Taehyung as the younger angel carried their unexpected guest deeper into the estate. Jungkook remained limp against Taehyung’s chest, breathing shallow, the borrowed cloak slipping slightly to reveal the curve of one small fang and the edge of his single obsidian horn.

The grand floating estate lived up to every whispered rumor about upper Heaven’s elite. Crystal spires caught the eternal soft glow of the realm, refracting it into rainbows that danced across vaulted ceilings. Floating gardens spilled over marble balconies, flowers that bloomed in perpetual daylight releasing faint, calming scents. Ancient wards hummed in the walls—layers upon layers of protective magic that made the air itself feel lighter, purer. Too pure for someone like Jungkook.

Taehyung carried him into a spacious room in the healing wing, lowering him carefully onto a bed that felt like resting on a cloud wrapped in silk. Jimin and Hoseok worked in quiet tandem, peeling away the torn, bloodied cloak and the worst of the damaged clothes underneath. Gentle waves of healing energy filled the space as the coven assessed the damage.

Jungkook drifted in and out, the pain dulled but not gone. When he finally surfaced again, the room was quiet except for the soft rustle of wings and fabric.

His eyes snapped open.

Silk sheets. Crystal windows overlooking floating gardens bathed in perpetual golden light. The air smelled of healing herbs and something impossibly clean. His spade-tipped tail twitched weakly against the bedding, sending a fresh throb up his spine from where it had been stomped on. He bolted upright with a gasp, ribs screaming in protest, his single right horn throbbing sharply.

“No…” The word slipped out hoarse and broken. His wide eyes darted around the room, taking in the impossible luxury. “This is… Heaven. I shouldn’t be here. They’ll kill me. They’ll—”

He tried to scramble off the bed, bare feet hitting the cool floor, tail lashing anxiously behind him. The movement pulled at the fresh bandages on his shoulder and side, and he nearly crumpled.

The door opened softly.

Six angels stepped inside, their combined presence filling the room with warm, overwhelming power. Jungkook shrank back against the headboard, trying to hide his horn behind messy bangs, one hand instinctively covering the base of his tail.

“Easy,” Namjoon said, voice calm and low like a deep river. His geometric halo glowed steady and precise above strong wings. “You’re safe. No one here is going to hurt you.”

Jimin moved closer, smiling gently. “You passed out on the way up. We brought you to our home to heal properly. Border tribunals aren’t exactly gentle on injured demons left behind.”

Taehyung nodded, settling on the edge of a nearby chair. “Those three low-ranks won’t be bothering anyone for a long time.”

Jungkook’s gaze flicked between them, heart hammering. He recognized the three from the border, but the other three were new—each radiating centuries of power. “I’m an incubus,” he whispered, voice cracking. “A defective one. You shouldn’t have brought me here. It’s dangerous for you. If the higher councils find out—”

Seokjin clicked his tongue, already gliding in with a tray balanced perfectly in his hands. The scent of warm broth and herbs filled the room. His three pairs of majestic wings shifted gracefully, and his ornate, radiant halo cast a comforting glow. “Dangerous for us? Please. Eat first, little one. You’re all skin and bones under those bruises. When’s the last time you had a proper meal?”

Jungkook stared at the tray, then at Seokjin’s patient expression. His hands shook too badly to hold the spoon when it was offered. Without a word, Seokjin sat on the edge of the bed and began feeding him small, careful spoonfuls. The soup was rich, nourishing, nothing like the thin scraps Jungkook usually managed in Purgatory. Each bite made his eyes sting.

Hoseok unfurled his two pairs of wings, creating a soft golden barrier around the bed. The light wrapped around Jungkook like a warm blanket, easing the sharpest edges of pain and fear. “There you go,” Hoseok said brightly, though his tone stayed soothing. “Feel that? Just breathe with it. Nothing bad is getting in here. Not while we’re around.”

Namjoon and Yoongi approached more carefully, assessing the visible injuries. Namjoon’s fingers hovered over the shallow cut along Jungkook’s horn, sending cool healing pulses that made the throbbing settle. Yoongi focused on the bruised ribs and the raw spade tip of the tail.

Jungkook whimpered softly when careful fingers brushed the sensitive, injured tail, but he didn’t pull away. The touch was clinical, not cruel.

“Why did you step in?” Namjoon asked quietly while he worked. “Most demons would’ve kept walking when they saw angels roughing up an imp.”

Jungkook swallowed, gaze fixed on the silk sheets. “He was scared… Just a kid. Just because we’re demons doesn’t mean we’re all bad. Or monsters.” A tiny flicker of deep blood-red sparked in his warm brown eyes for a heartbeat before fading. He missed it, but the six angels didn’t.

Seokjin’s hand paused mid-spoonful, a soft, unreadable look crossing his face.

Yoongi crossed his arms, halo steady but voice edged with caution. “Still. An incubus in Heaven? Even temporarily? This could bring every patrol and council busybody down on us.”

Jungkook looked up at him then—those big, glassy doe eyes still shining with exhaustion and genuine gratitude. “Thank you for saving me,” he whispered. “All of you. I won’t stay long. I promise. I never wanted to cause trouble.”

Something in Yoongi’s expression cracked. He looked away, jaw tight, but didn’t argue further.

After a long, quiet discussion—mostly between the angels while Jungkook tried not to listen—they reached an agreement.

“You’ll stay until you’re fully healed,” Namjoon said firmly. “No less. The estate is warded heavily. No one outside this coven needs to know you’re here for now.”

Jimin and Taehyung looked visibly pleased. They disappeared briefly and returned with soft, loose robes in deep, comforting tones—designed with slits and ties to accommodate a tail and horn without discomfort.

Taehyung gently brushed Jungkook’s hair back from his single horn, touch feather-light. “There. Fits better now.”

Jimin draped a thin, incredibly soft blanket around Jungkook’s shoulders. For a moment, Jungkook’s tail—acting on pure instinct—curled loosely around Hoseok’s wrist where the angel stood closest. The spade tip gave a small, content squeeze before Jungkook realized what he’d done and yanked it back, cheeks burning crimson.

“S-sorry,” he mumbled, mortified.

Hoseok only chuckled warmly. “No need. Feels nice, actually.”

Exhaustion finally won. Jungkook’s eyelids grew heavier, the combination of healing magic, warm food, and the safest presence he’d felt in years pulling him under. He curled up on his side, tail wrapping around himself, breathing evening out into true sleep.

The six angels remained standing around the bed, halos glowing softly in the gentle light of the room. Their wings cast protective shadows over the small incubus.

Namjoon spoke first, voice low. “He’s different.”

Seokjin’s gaze lingered on Jungkook’s peaceful face, the faint red veins still visible in his obsidian horn. His voice was soft but carried quiet finality. “No one touches what’s under our protection.”

The words settled over the room like another ward—possessive, warm, and absolute. Outside, the eternal light of Heaven continued its gentle glow, but inside the estate, something new had begun to take root.

𝓈𝒿

Morning light filtered through the enchanted crystal windows in soft, shifting patterns of gold and pale rose. It wasn’t the harsh sun of the borderlands; this light felt alive, soothing, like it had been woven specifically to heal. Jungkook stirred slowly on the cloud-soft bed, his body heavy with the kind of exhaustion that came after too much pain and too little rest. For the first time in what felt like forever, the sharp edges of agony had dulled to deep bruises and lingering aches.

He was clean. Someone had washed the blood and dirt away while he slept. Loose white healing robes draped over him, specially cut with a low back and side slits that let his tail rest comfortably against the sheets. The fabric was impossibly soft against his skin.

Jungkook sat up carefully, one hand pressed to his bandaged ribs. His spade-tipped tail curled tightly around his waist like a nervous habit. He reached up and touched the base of his single right horn, wincing at the tender graze there. The obsidian felt warmer than usual under his fingertips.

I need to leave, he thought, panic flickering in his chest. Before they realize what a mistake this is. Before someone important finds out there’s an incubus sleeping in their fancy floating palace.

He swung his legs over the edge of the bed, bare feet touching the cool crystal floor. The room spun for a second, but he gripped the bedpost and forced himself upright.

The door opened with a quiet whisper of hinges.

Seokjin stepped in balancing a large tray laden with food—steaming porridge swirled with honey and healing herbs, fresh fruits cut into neat pieces, warm flatbread, and a pot of fragrant herbal tea. His three pairs of majestic wings were half-folded, and his ornate halo cast a gentle radiance over everything he touched.

“Absolutely not,” Seokjin said calmly, setting the tray on a side table before Jungkook could take another step. Strong but careful hands guided him right back onto the bed. “Back you go, sweetheart. No running off until you’re properly healed. Doctor’s orders, and around here, I’m the doctor.”

Jungkook’s cheeks flushed. “I… I didn’t mean to impose. You’ve already done so much—”

“And we’re not finished yet.” Seokjin’s smile was warm, teasing at the edges but undeniably firm. He fluffed the pillows behind Jungkook’s back and helped him settle. “Now stay put.”

The others arrived soon after, drawn by some silent understanding. Namjoon entered first, steady and thoughtful, his geometric halo glowing with precise lines. Yoongi followed, hands in his pockets, looking like he’d rather be anywhere else but still present. Jimin and Taehyung came in together, bright-eyed and attentive. Hoseok brought up the rear, his swirling halo dancing with soft energy and his two pairs of wings already partially unfurled.

“Morning, little one,” Hoseok said cheerfully, though his voice stayed gentle. “Sleep okay?”

Jungkook nodded shyly, tail tightening around himself as all six angels gathered around the bed. He felt small under their combined attention, painfully aware of his single horn, the small fangs, the tail that marked him so clearly as other.

Namjoon took the lead. “We’re going to do a full check and push the healing along properly today. Just relax as much as you can. Tell us if anything hurts too much.”

They worked together with practiced ease. Bandages came off carefully. Jungkook flinched at every shift of movement, expecting roughness, expecting the sting of light used as a weapon. Instead, warm hands and softer pulses of golden energy met his skin.

The shoulder burn had faded to an angry red patch. Namjoon hovered his palm over it, drawing out the last remnants of corrupted light. Jungkook’s bruised ribs received attention from Yoongi and Jimin—cool waves of healing that made breathing feel easier for the first time since the attack. The split lip was almost gone, just a faint line now.

Then came the tail.

Hoseok and Jimin handled it with slow, deliberate care. The spade tip was raw and deeply bruised, dark purple and sensitive. The moment healing salve touched the worst spot, Jungkook whimpered, instinctively trying to yank it away. His tail thrashed weakly.

“Shh, easy,” Jimin murmured, voice like velvet. “We’ve got you.”

Taehyung caught the tail gently before it could hurt itself further, holding it steady between warm palms. “There you go. Just breathe through it. You’re doing so well.”

Jungkook’s breath hitched, but the gentle hold grounded him. The pain eased under their magic, replaced by a strange, tingling warmth.

Next was the horn.

Yoongi and Namjoon worked together, their combined light tracing the shallow cut along the obsidian curve. The horn was incredibly sensitive—nerves that ran deep, connecting straight to emotion and balance. Jungkook gasped sharply, a full-body shiver running through him. His eyes watered.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered repeatedly, mortified. “It’s… it’s ugly. I know. I’m sorry for flinching like this.”

Namjoon’s brow furrowed. “Ugly? It’s part of you. And it’s stronger than it looks.” His touch remained feather-light. “Nothing to apologize for.”

Every flinch from Jungkook met with patience. Every time he expected cruelty, they answered with softness. Slowly, almost against his will, his body began to melt into the care. His shoulders dropped. His tail stopped fighting quite so hard.

Seokjin fed him spoonfuls of porridge while Hoseok hummed a low, calming melody, wings partially wrapped around Jungkook’s back like a living shield. The safety of it—all of it—hit Jungkook at once. Warm food in his belly, gentle voices, no mocking laughter, no kicks. Just… this.

His large doe eyes shifted. Deep, beautiful blood-red bloomed across his irises, vivid and glowing for several long seconds. The color stayed, shimmering with quiet wonder as he looked up at them.

Taehyung’s breath caught. “Pretty…” he whispered, almost to himself.

Jimin’s smile widened, bright and genuine. Namjoon studied the change with open fascination, head tilted. Yoongi tried to look unaffected but kept staring longer than anyone else. Hoseok’s hum faltered for a beat, his wings fluttering with quiet delight.

The red slowly faded back to warm brown, but the moment lingered in the air.

They asked about his life in low, careful voices. Why he’d stepped in for the imp. Jungkook fidgeted with the edge of his robe, tail accidentally curling loosely around Jimin’s arm for a moment before he realized and pulled it back, blushing furiously.

“Not all demons are bad,” he said softly, eyes downcast. “I just wanted to help. He was so scared… reminded me of when I was smaller.”

The verbal abuse from the border slipped out then, quiet and broken. “They called me a one-horned freak. A filthy incubus whore. Said I should’ve been culled at birth. That I’m broken.”

His voice cracked. Tears finally slipped free.

Wings enveloped him from all sides—warm, protective cocoons of soft feathers and golden light. Hands stroked his hair, rubbed gentle circles on his back. No one mocked him. No one laughed.

“You’re not broken,” Seokjin murmured against his temple, feeding him another small spoonful when the tears slowed. “Not even a little.”

Taehyung and Jimin carefully braided a small section of his hair on the right side, keeping it neatly away from the injured horn. Hoseok let Jungkook lean fully against his chest, humming again. Even Yoongi, despite the guarded look he still carried, rested a gentle hand on Jungkook’s uninjured shoulder, thumb brushing lightly.

By the time the session ended, Jungkook felt lighter—physically stronger, but emotionally wrung out in the best way. Exhaustion pulled at him again. He drifted off with his tail loosely curled around Seokjin’s wrist, the spade tip giving tiny, trusting twitches. Even in sleep, soft flickers of red appeared in his eyes now and then.

The six angels stayed gathered around the bed, watching over him in comfortable silence.

Namjoon spoke first, voice low and decisive. “He stays. We’re not sending him back out there.”

No one argued. The quiet agreement settled over the room, warm and unbreakable, as golden light continued to pour through the crystal windows.

Jungkook woke later that morning to the same gentle light, though it had shifted into softer midday hues. He felt… stronger. Much stronger. The deep ache in his ribs had faded to a faint bruise, the burn on his shoulder was little more than pink skin, and even the raw pain in his tail had settled into manageable tenderness. He sat up slowly, testing his body. The loose healing robes moved comfortably with him, accommodating every shift of his tail.

For a long moment he just sat there, tail curled loosely around his waist, fingers tracing the edge of the silk sheets. This kind of comfort wasn’t meant for someone like him. Not for long.

He slipped out of bed and moved quietly around the room. The clothes they had given him—soft, high-quality garments far better than anything he had ever owned—were folded neatly on a chair. He changed into them, then found a small sheet of parchment and a quill on the writing desk near the window. His handwriting was careful, almost too neat.

Thank you for everything. I won’t forget your kindness. Please don’t get in trouble because of me. — Jungkook

He left the note on the pillow, heart squeezing. His tail flicked nervously behind him as he eased the door open and stepped into the wide, sunlit corridor. The estate was quieter during the day, but every elegant archway and floating lantern reminded him how out of place he was. An incubus in upper Heaven. If word got out…

He made it as far as the main hall entrance, hood of a plain cloak pulled up, when two familiar voices stopped him.

“Jungkook?” Seokjin’s tone carried surprise and a hint of disapproval. “Where do you think you’re going, sweetheart?”

Hoseok appeared beside him, wings half-spread in gentle alarm. “You’re supposed to be resting.”

Jungkook flinched, bowing deeply at once, single horn hidden beneath the hood. “Thank you for everything… but I should go. An incubus in Heaven will only bring danger to you. I’m already healed enough. I don’t want to cause any more problems.”

The rest of the coven arrived quickly, drawn by the small commotion. Jimin and Taehyung looked genuinely distressed. Yoongi leaned against a pillar with his arms crossed, while Namjoon stepped forward with that calm, steady presence that seemed to fill any space he entered.

“You’re not causing problems,” Namjoon said gently. “But you’re not fully recovered yet. Your tail is still tender, and that horn needs more time. A few more days—at least until we can arrange safe passage back if that’s truly what you want.”

Jimin nodded quickly, eyes wide and pleading. “Please stay a little longer? We barely got to show you anything nice.”

Taehyung chimed in, bumping Jimin’s shoulder with a small grin. “Yeah. Running off now would make us worry the whole time. That’s just cruel.”

Yoongi grumbled under his breath, “Kid’s got a point about the danger… but leaving half-healed is stupid.” He met Jungkook’s gaze briefly and sighed. “Few more days. Then we talk.”

Hoseok’s swirling halo brightened. “How about this? We take you out for a bit. Somewhere quiet in the upper districts. Just a short visit to the celestial market. It’ll do you good to see something beautiful instead of these same four walls.”

Jungkook hesitated, tail twitching under the cloak. The idea of leaving the safety of the estate terrified him, but their earnest faces made refusing feel impossible. “If… if you’re sure it won’t cause trouble…”

They prepared him carefully. An enchanted hooded cloak that shimmered faintly, dulling the visibility of his horn and softening the outline of his tail. Jimin adjusted the clasp with gentle fingers. Taehyung gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

The journey was smooth, carried on golden-tinted winds and concealment wards. They landed in an elegant floating market district high in upper Heaven. Crystal pathways connected glowing stalls and pavilions. Floating lanterns drifted lazily overhead, casting warm light over stalls selling everything from star-forged jewelry to clouds spun into fabric. The air smelled of sweet nectar and fresh blossoms. High-class angels moved about in flowing robes, their halos bright and varied.

Jungkook’s eyes widened beneath the hood. His tail twitched excitedly under the cloak, the spade tip brushing against his leg. Everything was so clean, so bright.

Taehyung noticed immediately and bought a warm honey cake from a nearby stall, pressing it into Jungkook’s hands with a bright smile. “Try this. Best in the realm.”

Seokjin pointed out a display of shimmering crystals that sang soft melodies when touched. “These react to your energy. Pretty, right?”

Jungkook nibbled the cake, sweetness blooming on his tongue, and managed a shy, genuine smile. When Hoseok quietly praised him—“You’re being really brave today”—a faint flicker of deep red touched Jungkook’s eyes for a moment before he ducked his head, embarrassed.

For a little while, it felt almost peaceful.

Then the whispers started.

A group of mid-ranking angels near a fountain noticed them. Their heads turned. Murmurs rippled outward like disturbed water.

“Is that… a demon under the cloak?”

“With the elite coven? No way.”

“Look at the shape of that hood. One horn? How repulsive.”

The gossip spread quickly through the elegant market, voices carrying on the light breeze. Jungkook’s shoulders tensed. His tail curled tight.

One bolder angel, a mid-tier official with a sharp halo, stepped directly into their path. His gaze locked on Jungkook with open disgust. “Filthy incubus. Shouldn’t you be down in the pits spreading your legs instead of tainting our realm?”

Another laughed nearby, loud and cruel. “Careful. He’ll seduce you and drain you dry before you even notice. That’s what his kind does.”

Jungkook froze, cheeks burning with shame. Before he could respond, a younger angel behind him—emboldened by the crowd—shoved him hard between the shoulder blades. He stumbled forward and fell to one knee. Pain flared through his still-healing tail as it hit the crystal path. His hood slipped back just enough to reveal the curve of his single obsidian horn with its faint red veins.

The crowd’s murmurs grew louder.

The atmosphere around the coven shifted in an instant.

Jimin and Taehyung’s neck wings flared subtly, power crackling beneath their skin. Yoongi’s eyes went cold, his geometric halo sharpening at the edges. Hoseok helped Jungkook up with gentle hands, brushing dust from his cloak while the others formed a protective circle around him.

Namjoon’s voice cut through the growing tension, calm but carrying unmistakable authority. “This matter does not concern you. Move along.”

Seokjin’s ornate halo flared brightly, forcing several nearby angels to flinch and step back. Yoongi made a small, discreet motion with his fingers—tracing a tracking sigil in the air that only the coven would recognize. His expression promised the issue would be handled later, permanently.

The harassers scattered under the weight of the coven’s combined presence, but the damage was done.

They pulled Jungkook into a quiet, private alcove overlooking the lower clouds. He curled into himself immediately, tail wrapping tightly around his own waist as he tried to make himself smaller. Tears stung at the corners of his eyes.

“See?” he whispered, voice cracking. “I told you I’d cause trouble… I’m disgusting to everyone. One-horned freak. Filthy whore. They’re right. I shouldn’t be here.”

Tears slipped free.

Wings enveloped him at once, creating a private golden cocoon that blocked out the rest of the world. Six sets of wings, warm and protective. Hands stroked his hair, rubbed soothing circles on his back. Taehyung gently wiped the tears from his cheeks with his thumbs.

“You are not disgusting,” Jimin murmured fiercely, forehead nearly touching Jungkook’s. “Not to us.”

“You’re kind,” Taehyung added, voice soft. “Braver than most angels I know.”

Hoseok’s swirling halo bathed them all in comforting light. “They don’t know you. They only know their own small, ugly fears.”

Even Yoongi’s hand found its way to Jungkook’s shoulder, grip firm and grounding. “Doesn’t matter what they say. You’re staying.”

The overwhelming care—the safety, the acceptance—washed over Jungkook like a wave. His large doe eyes shifted fully to deep, beautiful blood-red, shimmering with emotion as he leaned into their warmth.

They cut the outing short. On the flight back to the estate, Jungkook hid his face in the crook of Jimin’s neck, tail curled loosely around the angel’s waist beneath the cloak. The wind rushed past them, but inside the circle of wings, everything felt shielded.

Behind Jungkook’s back, the six angels exchanged dark, silent glances. No words were needed. Those who had hurt him today would be dealt with—quietly, thoroughly, and permanently.

The floating estate came into view ahead, crystal spires glowing welcomingly against the endless golden sky. For the first time, Jungkook realized he didn’t want to leave it. Not yet.
