Summary:

A day of love and gifts has fallen across the land. And what better individuals for the task than the four most loving pups to lend a hand?

Work Text:

As the king and queen of Gluttony slept into the early hours of the morning, the door slowly cracked open at the sound no louder than a footstep on carpet. Unlike most mornings, the light from the rising sun was slowly dampened by a little head poking in…

Then two…

Then three…

Then four…

Making it so that all four puppies were awake and aware. However, differing from their usual routine of barking and jumping, the siblings all smiled as they pulled away from the door and looked at each other.

“Okay… Mommy is still sleeping… Do you guys remember the plan?” Charcuterie asked.

“Yeah!” Raspberry cheered, only to be glared at by her other siblings.

“Oh! Sorry… I mean… Yeah…”

Tart smiled before nodding.

“Yep, we are ready, Char… I got the card.”

“I got the present.” Sherbet chimed in while wagging her tail.

“I got the drink!” Raspberry cheered.

“And I am making breakfast! See each other in ten?” The firstborn asked while running towards the stairs on all fours and looking over his shoulder.

With no words and running on pure excitement, his three siblings nodded and gently barked as they all ran downstairs together. Once they ran down all the flights and reached the bottom, the four of them split up in their respective directions to complete their tasks. Staying within the area of the living room, Tart ran to the main table in the center, sat down on the floor, reached under the table top, and grabbed the tin of crayons and a piece of paper. The pup smiled at the blank sheet before opening his tin and grabbing all the most important colors…

Yellow…

Dark pink…

Black…

Teal…

Orange…

Hot Pink…

You know, all the colors of his mommy!

The prince puffed his chest up with pride at his spread before getting straight into drawing and coloring. After a few minutes of building upon his work with every stroke and color, he was done with his drawing of his mom. Upon looking at his hard work, Tart clapped his paws together, grabbed a dark and light gray crayon, and moved to start drawing himself. However, when he was done with his outline, Tart stuck out his tongue, reached for a crayon, and started to color. However, he did not realize he had grabbed the wrong color by mistake and accidentally colored his face hot pink. Tart stopped and blinked at his mistake before puffing up his cheeks and crossing his arms.

“Great! It’s ruined!” The prince snapped with a growl.

However, before he could brush the picture on the floor and start again, the youngest prince looked at the drawing of his mom and frowned before an idea popped into his head. Tart looked at the spot under the table, grabbed a colored piece of paper, a pair of scissors, and a glue stick. Shooting back up, he grabbed his first card, cut out his mom to the best of his ability, smacked the new paper on the table, pulled the cap of the glue off with his teeth, rubbed it all over the surface, and slapped his picture on the sticky surface. He stared at his work for a few seconds before wagging his tail.

“Perfect!”

With his creative spirit back up and chasing its tail, Tart started over on his drawing of him and his siblings. Luckily, this time there were no further casualties or mistakes, and everyone turned out to be perfect. As he started to cut them all out and place them on the paper, something seemed…

Missing…

“Hmmmm…” He hummed while tapping his chin.

Though he thought he was at a loss, something glittery from below caught his attention. When he looked down to see what it was, his eyes fell on sheets of rhinestones, stickers, and glittery letters. Once again, his little tail started to wag as he grabbed them all, dropped them on the table, and started to glue and stick as many as he could. When he placed the last touch, Tart sneezed a rogue speck of glitter off his nose before holding up his picture with the shiniest smile Gluttony had ever seen.

“Perfect!”

“Gifts! Gifts! Gifts! More gifts!… Hmmm…” Sherbet yapped as she tapped her chin, looking around the house to add more things to the gift basket their dad helped them make yesterday.

“Hmmm… What will Mommy like…”

As the thought in her head reached the air, the princess turned her head and saw a closed cabinet door. Curious of what was inside, she dragged the basket behind her and stood before the massive doors. She let go of the basket and tried to jump to reach the handle, though she made little progress. However, that did not dissuade her for a second, as she got on all fours, shuffled her feet, jumped up, and grabbed the handle with her front paws. The pup hung there for a moment before wiggling her body and finally opening one of the doors, leading her to smile as she let go. Once her paws hit the ground, Sher ran back over to the front of the cabinet, placed her front paws on the floor of the furniture, and started to look inside.

“Let’s see if Mommy likes anything in here!” She cheered happily while darting her head and wagging her tail.

After a few seconds of searching, she spotted a brown box in the back of the cabinet. Curious, she tilted her head before reaching in and pulling it out to open. When she pulled back the flaps, the youngest princess let out a massive gasp as an equal smile spread across her face.

“Bubbles! Mommy loves bubbles!”

While her excitement continued to grow, she reached in, grabbed as many as she could, then turned back to the basket and placed the tubes of liquid in any empty space she saw. However, when she was done, her face became puzzled as she looked at the work she had done…

Unsatisfied…

“Mommy needs more… Hmmmmmmm… Back to hunting!” The pup barked while turning back around to see if there was any more treasure that her mommy deserved.

However, after a few minutes of searching, she saw nothing and moved to grab the gift basket to start looking elsewhere. Once she took the handle to continue her journey, another brown box on the top shelf caught her attention. It was a little further back than the other things she saw, but this time, something seemed to speak to her as she continued to look at it. Sherbet stood there in silence for a beat before letting go of the basket and running back up to the cabinet on all fours. As she looked up at the massive hunk of wood, she shuffled her paws again, hunched down lower, and leaped as high as she could.

Barley making it to the shelf, the princess sank her claws into the wood and pulled herself up to get inside. As all of her paws touched the surface, Sherbet crouched down, crawled to the box, sniffed it a few times before moving behind it, and using her nose to push it to the entrance. Upon reaching the edge, the pup shoved it one last time with her nose and leaned over to watch the box slam on the floor. Causing her to smile as she positioned her paws to get down.

“Yay! Let’s see what-”

However, before she could finish her thought, she lost her footing and slipped out of the cabinet. Howling as she fell from the height, though luckily for her, Sherbet’s fall was cushioned as she tumbled into the box below, causing much of what was inside to pop out like confetti. There was a brief moment of stillness before the pup popped her head out of the box and shook it as the dizziness cleared from her vision. As her sight returned, she started blinking and looking around.

“Huh… What…?”

When she finally looked down to see what she fell in and what had escaped, her eyes went wide upon what she saw…

Stuffed bees…

Hundreds of stuffed bees…

She let out a loud gasp.

“BEES! BUZZ BUZZ BEEEEEES!” Sher cheered with glee, reaching her arms out and scooping up as many as she could.

“BIG SQEEEEZZZZEEEE!” Raspberry yelled as she pressed as hard as she could on the orange that she currently had in the self-juicer.

After a few seconds, she pulled the mangled piece of fruit away and saw a small pond of juice.

“YES! SUCCESS!" She cheered as she picked up the juicer and dumped the contents into the glass she was working on.

While shaking to get every last drop she could, her ears flicked at the sound of her older brother digging through the pantry. She rolled her eyes at the noise before smiling down at the work, placing the juicer back down on the table, and reaching across to the basket in the middle to get another piece of fruit. There was a moment of flailing paws before she finally grabbed another orange; however, her enthusiasm caused the small basket to tip over. Leading to the oranges rolling on the floor and across the table…

Directly towards her cup…

The princess let out a startled yelp before grabbing the cup and holding it to her chest with her top paws while using her bottom pair to smack the opposing threat away with a growl. As Rasy watched the fruit fall on the floor, Raspberry stuck out her tongue and, like her name, blew a Raspberry at it.

“Pllllllll! TAKE THAT! You’re not ruining my Mommy’s drink…” The pup huffed before placing the cup back on the table top and grabbing a nearby orange to continue her task.

She sniffed it a few times to make sure it was good before sticking out her tongue, gripping her claws into the peel, and slowly started to pull it apart. All the while, her brother kept making more and more noise as he ran around the kitchen.

“Char! Stop it! I am trying to concentrate!” She snapped.

“Weeeeeelllllll, soooorry! I am not the one making a mess!” The prince huffed back, almost slipping on a piece of fruit as he darted to a drawer.

Raspberry rolled her eyes before she heard the sound of a snap. Her eyes snapped back to the fruit that was now successfully split in half. A big smile spread across her face as she let out a cheerful howl and leaned her head down to grip the juicer in her teeth, forever leaving teeth marks in the plastic as she dragged it closer. Once set, the first princess slammed one half of the orange onto the hilled middle and started to twist it firmly. After a few checks and twists, Raspberry was satisfied with her work before tossing the empty husk over her shoulder and moving onto the other half. She worked the process again to perfection, throwing the final half to the side with a proud bark before picking up the juicer once more and dumping it into the cup.

“GEEEEET IIIIIIN!” She shouted in a wavy voice as she shook it as if the thing owed her money.

The princess continued the motion for a bit before stopping to see her results…

And she was greeted with a perfect drink that was about to spill over from the top…

Just as her Mommy liked all of her drinks.

Raspberry’s wings and tail started to move a mile a minute while she reached her top right paw over to grab the lid to top off the cup… A sippy cup, to be precise.

Her favorite sippy cup.

However, before she could make it, something smacked one of the table legs hard and caused the table to shake…

And the cup along with it…

As if in slow motion, her face shifted into one of terror as she quickly caught the cup and steadied it. Once it was firm and lost only a drop, Raspberry let out a loud sigh of relief before glaring her eyes down and saw Charcuterie carrying, as his name would have it, a large charcuterie board in his mouth as he strowed away on all fours.

“CHAR! YOU ALMOST RUINED IT!” She growled at him.

Though not waiting for him to answer, the princess quickly grabbed the lid, twisted it on as tightly as she could, jumped down from her chair, and ran out of the kitchen with a huff.

“Bleh! Okay, let’s do this!” Charcuterie announced as he spat out the hunk of wood and sat on the floor with a plop.

He rubbed his paws together in thought as he looked around at all of the items he got…

Gummy candies…

Mini foods…

So many options, so many voices…

And his mommy deserved only the best.

“Okay, so breakfast… Breakfast…. Hmmmmm…” He pondered out loud while tapping his stubby paw on his chin.

The pup paused before spotting gummies beneath a bag of chips. Char pushed it aside, uncovering gummy candy shaped like different foods…

That would be found in a typical breakfast…

“Frick yeah! SCORE!” Char cheered while snatching the bag up and ripping it open with his teeth like a wild animal.

However, after the top of the package was gone, the beast disappeared and was replaced by a lovely and sweet puppy that took the time to neatly place the candle across the board with the highest amount of precision that he would muster. A stack of pancakes here, a cluster of “eggies” there, rounds of bacon on top, all the nutrition that his mommy needed to have the best day ever.

“Yessssss! Perfect!” He howled with glee while admiring his efforts.

“Needs more!” The firstborn prince yapped while going to an item of food that always filled his little heart with glee…

Chocolate…

Lots and lots of chocolate…

However, this was no ordinary chocolate…

Oh no…

They were chocolate kisses and hearts! And were more than ready to be placed in the best spots.

“Mommy needs one here, here, here, here, here…. Annnnd… Here!” He narrated while picking up every piece individually and placing them down, his stubby paws tapping away at the wood with each intentional mark of love he made.

Once finished, the puppy looked at his work before smiling and wagging his tail at the reaction Bee would have upon seeing her meal. However, being the firstborn of Gluttony herself, the little prince still felt like there could be more love to fill up his mom’s belly. When his eyes fell back on his stash, he spotted a box of mini chocolate chip muffins that he always loved to have during breakfast.

“Mmmmm… Muffins…” He drooled.

Charcuterie shook his head of thought before grabbing one of the wrapped muffins and placing it in the center of the board. For the final touch to his Mother’s Day surprise, the pup grabbed the bag of chips, reached inside, and sprinkled some of the salty goodness as garnish…

Finally, once the addition of a crunch was complete, Char gave a hardy howl at his work. Chanting as he ran around it a few times on all fours.

“Yes! Yes! Yes! Perfect! Perfect for Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” He yapped up a storm, coming to a screeching halt before standing on his back legs, slowly picking up the charcuterie board, and shuffling his way to the door one tiny step at a time.

“Char! Hurry up! You’re like a turtle!” Sherbet hissed in a hushed voice as she and her two other siblings watched their brother finally come up the stairs.

“Sorry, I didn’t want anything to fall off! Mommy deserves the best!” He answered as he slowly walked over to them.

“Yeah… But you are still slow, Stumppy…” Tart pouted.

The eldest glared at his brother before looking around and speaking.

“Is everyone ready?”

“Yep! I got all the presents!” Sher chimed while showing off her basket.

“I got the card!” Tart smiled, holding the paper over his head.

“And I have the drink!” Rasy finished the list while holding the sippy cup and making jazz hands.

“Perfect! Okay… Let’s do this…”

“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, MOMMY!”

Beelzebub and Vortex shot up from the noise with wide eyes. They blinked a few times in shock before looking down to see their four little miracles with wagging tails at the bedroom entrance. The four rush to their mom’s bedside without waiting and hold up their offers.

“Mommy! Mommy! Happy Mother’s Day! Here are some presents! There is candy, bubbles, and bees! Ah buncha buncha of buzz buzz beeeeeessssss! BUUUUUZZZZZ!” Sherbet cheered as she reached her arms up higher.

“Mommy! I made you a card! See!? See!? There is you, me, Rasy, Sher Sher, and Char!” Tart added, taking extra care to use the little light that was in the room to make the glitter and rhinestones sparkle.

“Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy! I love you! I made some orange juice! All by myself! And! And! I added a lid so you can drink it allllll up in bed!” Raspberry yapped with a shiny smile as her wings started to heat up the area.

“Here, Mommy! I made you breakfast! Since I can’t use the stove, I made this instead! Happy Mother’s Day! I love you! And I hope this fills your tummy up, juuuuuuuust right!” Charcuterie finished them off while standing on his tiptoes and placing the board on Bee’s lap.

As the pups stared up at her with all the light and love that they had in their little bodies, the queen blinked at them before giving a teary smile, placing her breakfast aside, and scooping them all up in her arms for a massive hug.

“Awww… Babies… You did all of this for me?... That was all so sweet of you… This is the best Mother’s Day I have had in all of my life…” She cooed lovingly, squeezing them tighter as she rained kisses all over their little heads.

Which, of course, earned her the further gifts of hearing happy barks, howls, and cuddles from the beings she loved most in the world…

Making them the ultimate gifts she could ever receive on a day such as this.
