It wasn't like Kody didn't want to run around with the others. Calla even tried to pull him along into joining a sports' team with her.
Compared to them, though, he always wore down seemingly fast; he would sit to the side, watching, aching, and feeling like he had been host to however many bees would make his muscles and bones buzz.
It was fine, though; the two would wander through the woods as he walked home later. He wasn't always alone, and once he was able to do magic, he was sure that he wouldn't be on the sidelines.
