Chapter Text
“Ok-“ Wild stopped and turned around from where he was leading the group to Hateno, “-now, I have an unusual companion. Don’t attack him.”
Legend just huffed as Wind spoke up with a smirk, “We’ve had our fair share of strange companions, so no worries!”
“Yeah, Wild, there’s no reason to worry,” Four chipped in.
And yet the cook still worried.
Beetle, the good pet, had found a funny looking leaf. It was all frayed and fluffy and pink! Giving it a sniff, because it had to smell like something, it smelled funny- so much so it made the small red creature sneeze.
This is for sure something to show BurntOne!
… oh right, BurntOne is out somewhere, probably finding really funny leaves and rocks, funnier than the ones he was finding- and probably tainted-ones too! Fighting them so they don’t fight everyone and everything. Cookie didn’t want to find any tainted-ones - they didn’t like him.
As he shook the thought out of his head, Cookie’s big ears slapped him in the face, causing him to laugh and cover his face with both ears in a playful manner. Bad thoughts successfully forgotten.
After he calmed down he remembered the weird leaf. Picking it and Beetle up, Cookie ran towards the path he wandered off from. He had to show BurntOne the funny leaf - it needs to be kept safe where no one else will take it! - so, to the massive camp where his and BurntOne’s cave was.
But as he neared the bushes hiding the view of the path, Cookie heard his favourite sound;
BurntOne was back!
Going as fast as his tiny legs could take him, Cookie burst from the bushes onto the trodden path and looked around- there! Further down the path was a big group; the one with his back to Cookie and making strange sounds was his bestest friend, BurntOne! With a big toothy smile Cookie ran up to them and tackled BurntOne’s legs in a hug—his small weight not even making the change-pelt stumble.
“Back! BurntOne Back! Happy Cookie- ghehehe!“ the words uncomfortable in his high rough voice, he cut himself off with cheerful giggles.
Suddenly feeling many eyes on him, Cookie quietened and looked up, quickly hiding behind BurntOne’s legs when he saw all the change-pelts staring at him with surprise, caution, and aggression - Cookie let out a soft squeak and hid further, this seemingly causing them to start arguing.
Most of the sounds were either ones he didn’t know or were shouted over and couldn’t understand them anyway. After a short while however they seemed to calm down a bit from BurntOne’s soothing sounds and gestures, though some still seemed agitated.
“Your- is a monster!?” The one with a red pelt shouted, waving his claws at Cookie, causing him to try making himself smaller.
Next to speak sounded a lot more calm, thankfully, “- friendly monsters, not- hard- one- nice.”
“- small-,” another with a blue pelt like BurntOne spoke, “- why- cute- friendly-?” Peeping around, the blue change-pelt smiled at Cookie. A few of the other change-pelts took to inspecting him curiously too, but the red pelt and the one with a doggie pelt over his own were still giving Cookie mean looks.
“- think -? why Cookie- around.” BurntOne reached down to affectionately shake him by his horn. “- monsters don’t- try- kill-now- defeated The Calamity.”
The one with the many-colour pelt touched his claw to his chin, frowning up at the camp. “- don’t mind-?” He made a lot of sounds Cookie didn’t understand, it was kinda annoying him so instead he looked around for Beetle
“- keep- around-.” Suddenly, Cookie’s hiding place disappeared and BurntOne was crouching down, giving Cookie his full focus and grabbing the little creature’s attention. “Why - Cookie out here- forest hm? What- Cookie run?”
After a moment to process what his bestest friend asked, Cookie perked up in excitement and showed BurntOne the weird pink leaf. “Cookie find fun weird thing! Want show BurntOne!” With an adorable smile the red creature handed him the fuzzy pink feather as BurntOne’s brows raised.
“Oh! feather, nice find Cookie.” He offered the feather back as Cookie grinned proudly. Seeing as he wouldn’t take it, BurntOne put it in his glow-rock, standing back up to face the group of change-pelts again when one of them made sounds.
“Cookie?” The creature in question blinked up at the sound of his name, one with a silver and blue pelt gave him a weird look. “- name-?”
Cookie felt BurntOne shift and heard fabric shuffle, “- like- baking…”
The massive silver pelted one stepped up, giving off a powerful feeling as he too made sounds that seemed to command the whole group to pay attention. “- all- Cookie, -need- move,- here- tell- where- dangerous monsters are.”
And with that the group picked up dropped items and started heading to the massive camp, BurntOne leading Cookie with a hand behind his head and a gentle, “Come.”
No one really looks anymore when Cookie’s around, but they are right now- however it seems they’re all looking at the big group of new change-pelts than him. Maybe because there’s so many.
BurntOne gestured his claw further into camp. “- shops- close- further up, - can’t- house.” Shops? Is BurntOne going to make a feast like after long times away? Cookies stamps his feet in excitement, making Beetle take off after being dislodged from where it was resting on his horn.
Some of the change-pelts from the group made various short sounds and walked off while green-white pelt and small-blue pelt followed BurntOne and Cookie home.
Wild opened the door to his cosy little house and let Wind and Sky in, following in after with the small bokoblin dubbed ‘Cookie’. It was kinda cute if you asked him, holding Wild’s hand in its own tiny one.
Sky turned and took in Wild’s home, it was small but cosy with a selection of interesting weapons and shields along the wall, Wind was examining a simple double helix sword when Wild said something quietly. Turning, Sky saw him handing Cookie the pink feather from before as it turns and climbs up the stairs to the loft.
