Work Text:

The sun has started to set in The Silver Kingdom — even if the kingdom is shrouded with fog, the moon shone upon the mist — creating an ethereal silver blanket among the kingdom. Certainly, once the day ends, and the moon hung itself high upon the sky, one might find a place of comfort — or leisure — after a day filled with fortunate or unfortunate events.

White Lily Cookie is seen to straighten herself on the bed, running a hand through her ivory white hair as her hands flips over the pages of book she borrowed — it held no information, despite the cover and the synopsis. This book was pointless, filled with empty words that could be easily proved wrong — why did she borrow this book again? A small mumble of frustration left her lips as she shut the book, her wings fluttered slightly at its content. However, she pressed her lips into a thin line as she looked over to her side. Silent Salt Cookie was still fast asleep — his hands still circled around White Lily Cookie's waist as he shuffled closer to her. White Lily Cookie let out a fond sigh as she felt him pulling her close to him — even so, the annoyance she had for the book still simmered deep within her heart. Perhaps she needs fresh air, something to peel her mind off this forsaken book. . .

She tried to lift his hands off her waist — sensing the movement, Silent Salt Cookie retaliated by tightening his grip on her, pulling her closer. White Lily Cookie squinted her eyes at the sleeping knight, turning to look around. Perhaps she could use the pillow to replace her essence? Before she knew it, her hands reached the head pillow, taking it into her hands and tried to put a small space between her and the sleeping knight. And finally, she succeeded as she managed to slip out of his embrace. White Lily Cookie took another glance at the book she was holding, bringing it with her as she stepped out of the bedroom. Her white sleeping robes brushed against the floor as she made her way into the hallway.

"Is this how they depict us faeries outside of this kingdom?" she mumbled to herself as she stepped into a part of her humble abode. The streaks of moonlight broke through the window as she found herself standing before the kitchen's island. It then clicked to her, the reason she borrowed the book — to understand the cookies view about faeries. "Well — we're not complete nuisance. . ." she started as her hands unconsciously searched for the beascuit flour within her cabinet.

"We helped enforcing order within nature, purifying the corrupted life powder before it stores back to either The Sugar Swan or The Millennial Tree" she continued as her hands found a bowl and started to pour 2 cups of beascuit flour and a few spoons of crushed sugar cubes. "Where did they get the nuisance from?" she mumbled with a hint of frustration as she started to mix the two ingredients.

"Well, some of us are tricksters" she started to beat the butter inside the bowl along with the dry ingredients, "but still — not all!" she huffed, the whisk in her hand started to beat the ingredients more aggressively, while adding the milk. "Plus, how did they assume that us faeries are weak to silver?" she huffed again as she poured the batter inside a baking pan — making sure no drop goes wasted, despite her anger.

"Our kingdom is made out of the purest silver!?" she cursed with a hint of disbelief, her wings flaring, as she started to finish the first part of making the cake. The night continued with the slight sound of clattering bowls and pans, as The Moonflower Faerie mumbled curses about the book she borrowed from a friend. . .

Meanwhile, The Salt of Solidarity — or Silent Salt Cookie — was still laying in their bed, his hands reached out towards his side. He patted it as he noticed the essence beside him was far too soft, far too light.

"White Lily Cookie. . . ?" he mumbled, his voice still groggy and laced with sleep as he propped himself up on his elbow to look at her side of the bed. ". . ." he rubbed his eyes under his helmet as he looks around their room, the streak of moonlight broke through the mist and the window — a ghostly sight — and of course, White Lily Cookie was not in bed. "When did she. . .?" he questioned as he inspected the pillow, a hand on his chin as he recalled what happened during his sleep. He did sense White Lily Cookie shifting slightly in his sleep, while his hands were still wrapped around her; he then recalled about a certain moment where there was a certain emptiness at one point during the hour. Silent Salt Cookie let out a sigh, as he swung his legs off the bed, and noticed the open door.

Silent Salt Cookie let out a scowl as he lifted himself off the bed, and made his way towards the door. The moment he stepped out of the bedroom, the sweet aroma of . . . strawberries and cherries? Filled his essence as he let the scent guide him towards where she should be.

On the other hand, The Moonflower Faerie held the icing bag before her eyes widened in horror at what she has done. "Again?" she muttered as she turned towards the cake and then towards the icing bag. She took a glance towards the counter — how there were some speck of beascuit flour — and then towards the nearly-decorated cake again ; she only need to place the cherries to complete it. . . "What am I supposed to do with you?" she then ran her hands through her hair again wings falling behind her back, it was ashame -- truly -- she might have wasted some ingridient, and she needs another way to let out her stress at midnight! Unbeknownst to her, a certain knight is leaning against the door towards the kitchen. His usual silver armour replaced by a simple dark silver-coloured tunic, along with some loose trousers; and out of habit, his helmet was still on.

"White Lily Cookie?" The Salt of Solidarity called out, breaking her out of her trance as her gaze fell upon his figure. Silent Salt Cookie watches as the moonlight cast an ethereal glow upon her iridescent wings, and also her visage — a small dust of pink too decorated her cheeks — he then glanced towards the silverware that lay across her. "What are you doing awake at this hour ?" Silent Salt Cookie then asked, hands crossed over his chest as he took in the sight — the scent of cherries and strawberries hung within the air, and a hint of the floral scent of lilies could be sensed.

"Silent Salt Cookie!" she beamed, as she clasped her hands together, turning to look at the cake and then towards her lover — a small light bulb lighting up within her head. "Would you like some cake?" she asked, as she looked at him expectantly, clasping her hands and tilting her head as she watches him lean against the doorframe.

"Pardon?" he asked as he finally lifted himself off the door frame, tilting his head as he took notice of a cake, and also a book at the far corner of the island. "My love. . . it is quite late" he sighed fondly as he made his way to sit across her, his gaze switching towards the faerie before him and then the window.

"I'm aware. . ." White Lily Cookie replied sheepishly, as her hand found one piece of cherry, and placing it upon the cake.

"Did something bother you, my lady?" he asked as he placed a hand on the island, and leaning into it as he watches her keenly. Watching her place another piece of fruit upon the cake, he couldn't help himself but let out a fond sigh. It was rare to obtain these moments to stay overnight in The Faerie Kingdom, and in fact quite unfair (as his knights are certainly still resting in the camps they made within the vicinity of The Faerie Kingdom). "White Lily Cookie, my love, Please return to bed. . . You know moments like these are scarce" he leaned further into the counter, tilting his head as his plumes flicker — casting an ivory glow around them.

White Lily Cookie finally turned to look at him, a hint of guilt tinted her visage as she offered him a meek smile. "I know, my love, " she started as she walked around the island and taking a seat beside him, wings fluttering behind her back. "again my apologies for this. . ." she sighed as she brought her hands up to cup his cheeks. "It's just . . . something in the book I was reading . . ."

"Held words of deceit?" Silent Salt Cookie asked as he turned to look at the book, in which White Lily Cookie nodded. Silent Salt Cookie shook his head in disbelief — yet how could he complain? After all, he too shares similar distaste.

"Books aside, would you like some cake?" she asked once more as she pulled the cake closer to them, "I'll feed you" she grinned, her hands reaching out towards the silverware she set aside previously.

Silent Salt Cookie's eyes widened beneath the helmet, his ivory plumes flickered ever so slightly. White Lily Cookie took notice of how the kitchen seemed a bit brighter, she tilted her head at his reaction. And did her eyes deceive her? As she swore the edge of his smokey-plumes turned heart-shaped. "Silent Salt Cookie?" she repeated.

The Salt of Solidarity shook his head in an instant, his eyes laid upon her fuchsia eyes as she looked at him curiously. "My Lily. . ." the sentence died within his lips as he watches her take a slice of the cake, and used a fork to grab a small piece of the slice. "It's nearly midnight. . . "

"I am aware"

Silent Salt Cookie sighed as he raised his helmet before muttering: "You're lucky I have a sweet tooth." His heart fluttered as he watches her grin grew wider, bringing up the cake up to his lips. How could he deny her? In fact, he is quite grateful as he could indulge his own desire while also bring a smile to his fairest maiden's face.

"Say ahh, " she cooed, her heart fluttering as he opened his mouth and took a bite of the piece of cake. White Lily Cookie watches his reaction keenly, the smile on her lips never faltered as she watches him chew the cake, "So how was it?" she asked, her tone expectant as she revelled in the small satisfactory hum he let out. Her eyes fell onto his lips as he continued to chew — noticing the frosting that got stuck on the edge of his lips.

Silent Salt Cookie savoured the sweetness of the cake, the tanginess of the strawberry tempered the sweetness of the cherry and the frosting danced on his tongue. He let out a satisfactory hum as the fork left his lips. A small smile was formed as he heard her question, and her expectant tone. "It tastes sweet, " he hummed as he swallowed the cake, "your baking never fails to amaze me." he added, and of course — the brief gaze towards his lips did not go unnoticed. A small idea formed within his head as he leaned in closer, "But. . ." he muttered, his hands rising towards her cheeks. . . As he slowly closed the distance between them, his lips soon met hers.

White Lily Cookie's breath hitched as she felt his lips pressed against hers, her mouth parted slightly as they met. She could taste the remnant of the sweet frosting that was still on his tongue. Silent Salt Cookie let out a hum of delight as he revelled in her sweetness — was it him or perhaps a delusion, for he swore her lips tasted sweeter than any cakes — any sweets from the Garden of Delight. His hands soon moved to the back of her head as he tilted it upwards, granting him better access. White Lily Cookie leaned into the kiss — yet her heart still strummed frantically at the sudden action. And finally, the both of them pulled away — catching their breath — yet their face were still close together.

"You taste sweet" Silent Salt Cookie blurt out, as he tried to process his action — was it crude? Perchance, but her gaze did fell onto his lips. . .

"What was that for!?" her voice a pitch higher as she pulled away, watching him lick his lips with a small smile on his lips. Her face turned a shade darker at his sudden statement, her wings flaring again at his grin.

"Your gaze fell onto my lips" he stated bluntly, his grin still sheepish.

"There was cream on your lips!" she retorted, not being able to handle his smile, her hands reached out towards his helmet and pulled it down again out of flustered-ness. The Salt of Solidarity responded with a chuckle, as his hands reach under his helmet — feeling the cream that was stuck on the edge of his lips.

"My lady, pulling down my helmet while I'm speaking is quite. . . rude." he pointed out, a hint of playfulness in his tone as he raised his helmet once more — his gaze falling upon the flustered look on his lover's face.

"Well — kissing a lady without her permission is not polite either, my knight." she retorted, crossing her hands as she rolled her eyes playfully.

"Touché" The Salt of Solidarity muttered as he took the fork out of her hand. "Pardon me for asking, my lady, but I don't think I can finish the whole cake tonight" he hummed as he took another piece from the slice of cake, bringing it up to his mouth to chew on it.

His statement was a bucket of ice water on her as she turned towards the cake — not even a quarter of it was finished. "You're right" White Lily Cookie sighed as she looked at the cake, "Do you think there would be enough slices for your knights?" she asked, as she fold her hands on the counter and lay on it, tilting her head to face him who's eating her cake in delight.

"I doubt it" The Salt of Solidarity sighed, placing down the fork as he looked at the cake, "It would be rude to give them a cake that was already sliced. . ." he teased as he watches her gaze. He tapped the fork against his lips as his mind started to wander, "Maybe some slices for tomorrow . . . tea with Elder Faerie Cookie, and perhaps some slices for your neighbours?" he suggested, taking a piece of cream from his slice, and pecking it on her nose.

"Oh you — " she playfully cursed, as she rubbed the frosting away with her thumbs. However, she did paused at his suggestions; they were invited for tea tomorrow — a small brunch between friends — perhaps the slices could also be divided to be shared among her neighbours too. "Maybe, " she hummed, as she grabbed a spoon near the cake (the same spoon she used to pour the sugar), and grabbed a piece from The Salt of Solidarity's slice.

The Salt of Solidarity smiled as he watches her also indulge in the sweet delicacy, and the small smile of satisfaction that was plastered on her face as she chewed on the piece. "Well, let us finished this slice — it is getting late after all." he hummed, as he took another piece.

The Moonflower Faerie turned to look at the window, the mist has dissipated, and the moon's light shone clearer in the night now. "Very well" she smiled, pressing a small peck to the edge of his lips before taking another slice

Notes:

So yes I have a headcanon (BEFORE I found out the main purpose of the silver tree was to bear new virtues and also a seal...), that similar to Millenial tree cookie, the silver tree's roots also kinda sense darkness/corrupted life powder and before sending such life powder back to sugar swan/MTC the tree will purify it first, to restore the balance (?) (Since silver represents purity and all that) :^

And also there is a small announcement in the 'The Accursed Tale of Devotion and Jam', best you check out the A/N on chapter 2 (yes I'll also post some of my replies to your strawpage question on my fics instead!)
