Chapter Text
Fukuzawa's POV:
It was a calm morning in Yokohama, something that didn't really happen often, so Fukuzawa, the president of the ADA was taking a break in his office. He was glad, this wasn't something that happened often, so he didn't take many breaks.
Of course, as luck would have it, he wouldn't have much free time left. His phone started ringing, which caused the white haired man to sigh. Maybe, just maybe, if he ignored it they would give up. Yeah, that made sense, if they needed him, they would call again, so he let it go to voicemail.
Right after it finished, it rang again, it was the same caller ID, so he reluctantly picked up.
"Fukuzawa on the phone. Who is it?"
There was a second of silence, during which the president was hoping that they'd gotten the wrong number, or that there was nothing important. It was the first time in a long time his peace lasted so long, and he would have liked to keep it like that.
"Yes, hello. I'm Ango Sakaguchi, from special forces, we need to give your agency a new mission." The voice paused, probably deciding on what to say or how to, then it continued speaking. "We need one of your members to go to Kunogigaoka high on Tokyo and teach the kids of class 3-E methods of assassination."
A moment of silence, the president couldn't believe what he was hearing, teach kids method of assassination? Was this some elaborate prank?
"Excuse me, what?" He asked, his frown evident on his tone of voice.
A sigh was heard from the other side of the line before the voice spoke again "it's... Complicated, but you know how 70% of our moon was destroyed not long ago?"
How could he not? Everyone knew at this point, it was impossible not to, they just didn't know what caused it, or so they thought, but with what the voice was saying, it didn't seem like it.
"Well..." The voice continued without waiting for his reply. "The being who did it will do the same to put planet by the end of this scholar year, and it insists that until then or its death, to teach a specific class of the school"
A pause, the president took advantage to ask something "and you'll let such a dangerous being close to kid? Why isn't it dead yet?" His tone is stern and confused, maybe even a little worried for the kids.
Silence, he almost thinks he won't get a reply, then the voice starts again. "It's hard to explain, I will come to the agency tomorrow to explain the details, this mission is highly confidential, with very few people having access to this information"
"Alright" The president agrees, he knows better than not to do so. "Anything else?" He asks, although his tone makes it clear that he'd rather not have any more requests.
"If possible, I believe Dazai Osamu is best suited for the task, considering the past." This made the president pause, there were very few people, high up in the government of the city, who knew about that, of course he would know, knowing his position, but it wasn't something often mentioned. "But the final decision will be yours. We will also be requesting for a person from the Port Mafia, because this mission takes priority over any charges they may have."
The president sighed, reluctantly accepting his fate, he was already used to Mori's antics, but he hoped to have to work with him as little as possible. There was nothing he could do anyways, so he accepted it.
Very few words were exchanged after that: meeting time, who was coming, whether he'd end up having to talk with the Mafia's leader as well(Yes, he would also be informed in the same meeting, which meant he had to warn the members of the agency)... .
In the end, when the call ended, he felt exhausted, tomorrow would be a long day.
When he walked out to the main room of the agency, where almost everyone was working on paperwork, but stopped what they were doing when they saw him.
His gaze swept across the room to make sure everyone was present and listening before speaking "tomorrow morning two members of the government and Mori Ougai will be coming in to discuss a mission, one of extreme confidentiality" his eyes passes over Yosano and Dazai as he mentioned the PM's boss and over Ranpo as he said confidentiality. In the case o the former pair, to see the reaction, for the last one to make sure he got the message.
"One of you" He made sure not to look at anyone in specific "will have to collaborate with a Mafia member, and possible other people, to complete the mission. The rest are forbidden from asking any questions or knowing anything"
A few beats of tense silence passed, many of his subordinates not having expected that, but then, they all start saying variations of "yes sir", which helps with what will probably happen later.
The time came too soon, at least to the man who wanted nothing more but peace.
The first to arrive was, of course Mori, and the air in the room became tense instantly despite the boss' practiced smile. They shaked hands in greeting before speaking "I left some of my subordinates down at the coffee shop, I need to know what it's about before choosing who can go, thought it was better to let you know" he said with his usual sharp and manipulative tone.
With a sigh, the white haired man looked around the room before speaking up "Dazai and Yosano take a break, and make sure no one is killed" the man said, wanting to keep these two (specially the woman) away from this psycho.
Not long after, thankfully, Ango Sakaguchi arrived, looking as serious and professional as always. Behind him was another man, tall with black spiky hair and thin eyebrows, he seemed to be well built, probably worked for the military.
He introduced himself as Karasuma Tadaomi, one of the people who lead this mission.
They went inside his office to discuss the details, where the government officials kept things brief but gave as much detail as needed.
Mori's POV:
This was certainly an interesting situation, the being who blew up the moon was a monster, and wanted to be a teacher, so they permitted it to have more chances to kill him.
On top of everything, normal weapons did nothing against him and he had super speed. Which meant he couldn't send just anyone to that mission, so, in the moments of silence after the explanation, he turned to the president.
"Chuuya and Dazai should go" he said lightly, smiling like always, but looking at him with piercing eyes.
The other paused, making him think he'd have to try to convince him or explain his choice, but to his surprise he didn't have to.
"You're right" The white haired one admitted, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I'm going to call Dazai" he glanced at him sideways. "Nakahara is at the cafe as well, right?"
After his nod and hum, the president pulled out his phone and with few words told him who had to come.
Seeing Fukuzawa just tired of these situations made it even better, even if just having his Double Black work together again was already making him have a good day.
The pair received the same explanation as them, his prodigy seemed intrigued at the prospect, and maybe even excited, that look reminded the boss of the old times, so he couldn't help his smirk when Dazai started asking for certain details while the short redhead beside him observed in silence, listening to everything.
After that the conversation shifted to what they would teach, when they'd arrive and other details. Soon, the government agents left for the day, The pair, together with 'Karasuma' would go to Tokyo together two days from now, by train, then they'd be introduced to everyone aware and start the mission.
