Just Find Who You Love Through True Love's Kiss

Summary:

Cam impatiently launched out of his seat, shaking the sofa beneath the rest of them. "It simply won't do for Scott to be upset" he announced, hands on his hips. He grinned suddenly.

"Perhaps you need a lovely little kiss on the nose!" he declared, that was all the warning Scott got before a soft pair of lips were pressed to his face.

OR: Prince Cam is obsessed with nose kisses. Scott is normal about this <- lying

Notes:

Work Text:

Maybe Scott should have expected this. He had overheard a conversation about it in just the last week.

The dragons had been playing, the five of them found a field in the resource world for them to frolic in. Firefly stumbled past him and Scott righted them gently, patting them absently as they continued on their way.

There was a sudden loud cry and all the humans jumped. The prince, who had been idly chatting with Drift, jumped to his feet, rushing towards his dragon. Giselle had been playing with Pip, and it looked like she had gotten hurt, rubbing her snout against Cam's hand stubbornly.

The prince just laughed "You're alright" he told her gently "Go on, both of you apologise, no hard feelings".

He placed a small kiss on the dragon's snout, scooping her up and standing to do the same for his horse.

"Is that just your default response to things?" Pyro had asked, sounding bored. The flower crown Shelby had been braiding sat lopsided on his head "Just kiss it better?".

"It's something I've always done!" Cam had laughed "If anyone needs cheering up, a little kiss on the nose does wonders!".

Still, he couldn't have guessed it would result in this.

"We're always here if you need to talk about something" Shelby was promising, her warm hands curled protectively around his cold ones.

Scott nodded, unable to even thank them past the lump in his throat.

It was barely a moment. Just a quick swoop down, lips gracing the bridge of his nose, and then straightening out again, chest puffed up with pride.

Scott blinked, meeting the bright blue eyed stare of the man across him. His face felt unbearably hot. "Oh." he muttered dumbly.

Scott had never really kissed anyone before. He had never had much of an interest in it. And Prince Cam was a man; Scott wasn't addressing that. For goodness sake it wasn't even on the lips or the cheek - he kissed him on the nose. He treated him the same way he treated a horse and a baby dragon.

So why was Scott's brain refusing to focus on anything else??

Cam didn't seem affected at all, proudly boasting about how Scott 'didn't look sad anymore so clearly his method worked'.

Drift rolled her eyes at him "Do me a favour and never try to cheer me up" she grumbled. She caught Scott's gaze and raised an inquisitive eyebrow at whatever his expression was currently doing. He didn't really know what face he was making. His thoughts weren't moving very fast.

He could swear his skin was still tingling. Maybe he was allergic to Cam's chapstick. Drift was still watching him. He ignored the urge to rub his nose.

His hand twitched, Shelby's hold on them tightened. "Cam" she scolded "Please be helpful, or be quiet" they said icily. Scott had never heard her so serious.

The prince balked "I was helpful!" he argued affronted "Don't you feel much better Scott?".

His blonde hair was shining in the light, blue eyes twinkling expectantly behind dark glasses. There was a dimple sinking into his cheek from the size of his grin.

"Yeah" Scott muttered, face warm "Thanks".
