Chapter Text
Day 1
You spawned in and immediately came to the conclusion that something was different about this world.
Where you were standing was on a flat area of the grassy biomes.
It was foggy past the few trees surrounding you, and, strangely enough, there was a cardboard box planted on the ground.
“Helloo! Is anyone there?” A muffled voice said.
You looked around to find where it came from.
It couldn’t have been in the box, right?
You took a step forward and reached your hand down to lift the box. But just as your hand came in contact with it, it started to levitate into the air, and not a second later smoke started to fog your sight.
You cough and suddenly realize that something has lifted you off the ground! "huh..?"
When the smoke was halfway cleared, you realized that someone was carrying you bridal style.
A gentle hand helped your back up, and your knees were held up by another.
Your eyes widened before you realized the person who was carrying you is a stranger.
“KYAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!”
You yelp, trying to squirm out of the perpetrator's hands. But the person’s grip was tight.
“Hello,” the man says. “I’m Verity, your personal helper friend!"
“Let go of me!” You yell, still squirming.
“Of course!”
Verity sets you down, and you look up to get a good look at him. He looked strange, that’s for sure. He had a yellow smiling ball for a head, and the body of a young man. His outfit made it seem like he was a smart person just by looking at him.
“You can ask me anything! I know everything.” He says, putting his hands on his hips as he looks down at you.
You straighten out your outfit and collect yourself. “Everything?” You repeat.
“Everything!”
You let out a hum. “Okay.. uh, what’s my name?”
“Y/N!” Verity says. A nervous gulp goes down your throat.
“Okay.” You whisper. “Are you.. Just gonna help me beat the game or something?”
Verity laughs. “Yep! And we’re gonna have such a great time in this world, Y/N!”
You rub the back of your neck and sigh. An unwanted smile creeps up on your face. “I guess we will. Uhm.. tell me where the nearest village is.”
Verity spins on his heel and points forward. “The nearest village is 3,000 blocks east. You should gather some wood before you head over there, though!”
You take what he says into consideration and head over to a tree to break it. A question then pops into your mind.
“Verity,” you call out, “How did you fit in that box?”
When you turn around, he’s not the tall man who was carrying you earlier. His form was now just his yellow ball head on the grass.
“I can become small at will,” Verity says, now looking up at you.
“Do you just roll around, or…”
“I’m portable.” He says with a wink.
“Ah.” You nod and lean down to take the little ball in your hands.
You lift it up to eye level, and squint at him. He smiles back. “Are you always smiling?”
“No, I'm just happy!”
“Happy?” You start to walk to the village.
“Yep! I’m happy we get to be in this world together!”
He sure seemed to like the concept of you and him in the world together. It was a little strange. You put Verity into your inventory and keep walking east. The village comes into sight, and you hum. “You were right.”
“I tell the truth and only the truth!” Verity says cheerfully.
“Is that so?” You mumble as you explore the village and take some bread and apples from the chests.
You go over to kill the iron golem with your wooden axe.
You build a pillar up and start to hit it, but it doesn’t reciprocate by hitting you back. It just stands there and takes it.
“Verity, why is it submissive?” You break your source of elevation and collect the 4 ingots the golem dropped.
Verity doesn’t answer, probably because of your choice of language. It’s another strange thing, but you let it go.
The sun threatens to set over the horizon.
You go into one of the houses and decide to just sleep there.
You shoo the villager off and sit down on the bed. You take out Verity and put him on the empty chest.
“Sleep tight!” Verity says, still with his cheerful esque.
His smiling face was the last thing you saw before your eyes clamped shut.
