Chapter Text
You died!
TheMostMayo was knocked off a high place by d3rlord3.
Respawn
Title Screen
The slight red glow of my screen lit my face as the fireworks started to explode beyond my window. I couldn’t look up from my screen, why was it blurring? I wiped my eyes and clicked on the respawn button- or tried to. It should've been an easy thing to do, but my fingers were trembling.
he- he can’t be gone- right?
Eventually I got my green character to spawn next to my red bed.
I started sprinting, sprinting and sprinting to the cave where I first found the book he had left behind for me. The fireworks nearby had faded from my brain as I started to mine the four blocks that had separated me from the king, from d3rlord3 form derek. Once open I cracked it open, I ran inside of the cave
But–
It was like any other Minecraft cave, stone and coal lined the walls. No moss, no trees, nothing that wouldn't be in a cave. It took a while before I reached the end of the cave but instead of it ending in a huge room with stacked trees. It was just a dead end. But in the middle of it? a singular golden ore block, marking the end. The end of our story, his life?
No no that cant be- he cant be dead, not after everything! I won’t let him!
The king and der- derek were truly gone. There was nothing left of him. No book and quill. No links I could search for. No random items I could put into a decipherer, just a gold ore block staring back at me, almost mockingly?
I sagged in my chair as my vision started to blur again. Tears start to stain my cheeks as it dawns on me that he is really gone. My hands press into my face as I pull my knee up to my chest on my chair. The only thing I'm hearing are my own quiet sobbing and the fireworks as the new year starts.
‘‘whatever you do at the crossroads. keep going forward.’’
His voice repeated– or what I imagined his voice would be.
‘But how? How am I supposed to move forward when you're not here?’ I ask no one, through my sobs. I just stare at my screen, until I realize something
Wait,
Wasn't the Y level Avery was at 57? How is gold ore spawning? Those are only supposed to start spawning at negative 16? But here’s the thing: Minecraft is built on rules, but the kings domain doesn’t like those rules. So they make their own.
I perk up as I realize this. My eyes are still lined with tears. But something else filled them, determination? Hope? Foolishness? Maybe all three of them. Swiftly I sat back up. I make a crafting table with spare wood in my inventory, out of that a stone picaxe. I mined around the block. Being careful not to mine the gold, I mean wasn’t it the last thing I have of him?
At first there was only stone but a little further, I stumbled upon something.
A gate?
It's broken down; some blocks are broken. Surrounded by black. But when I tried to walk into it again, my character ended up in a village? It looks to be surrounding a fountain or statue of some sort. It looked abandoned.
I didn't explore it immediately; if I learned anything from this world it’s not to jump into everything.
And it's good I did. I looked around first and saw some sort of a small tower. So I got up to inspect it first.
Once inside it just seemed like a small home of a person who loved books, reading maybe? But, there was a lectern with a book. My hand hovers over my mouse as I remembered what happened in the church.
I take a hesitant breath and remind myself: ‘if it starts with ‘‘you are safe here’’ log off.’
I finally click on on it and it reads:
‘Hello, Avery
You found the gate didn’t you?
I was hoping you would
I'm sorry I couldn't explain it to you or even what was happening to me.
So maybe in sense of false hope that you’ll find this i wanted to say:
You were the vessel the king needed to enter our- your world. The one you live in.
How did he or it planned to do that? By merging with a mind that wasn’t corrupted. My mind was corrupt. I saw the king. I knew that if I let it merge with mine by reciting the spell it would go down with me. That's why I did what I did.
But I don't regret it. Why? ‘cause i know you’re safe
But one last thing
I’m proud of you for surviving this.’
