Chapter Text

“What if he says no?” He starts biting his nails, his breathing picking up slightly. “Obanai. Breathe.” I watch as he inhales deeply, letting it out after a few seconds. “How long have you guys been together?” I ask, my eyebrows raised. “Since we were twenty…” “Which is how many years?” I press again. I need him to get it. “Six years…” He says quietly. “Exactly. You have been together for six years, you live together, and you love each other. So you are going to go out, have a nice date, then you are going to fucking propose and he is going to say yes then you are going to get married and live with your three fucking kids and you are going to be happy!” He stares at me, seemingly processing everything I said. “Yeah… But what if you’re wrong?” This dumbass. How does he not get that Giyuu is so madly in love with him? “I’m not. Now go! Go get your husband!” He practically runs to the door, racing outside and making his way to their house. Two dumbasses. Oblivious fucking idiots. But they’re good for each other. I’m happy for them.

I basically run down the sidewalk, not giving myself any room for doubt, filled with adrenaline and nerves. Finally, I make it to our house, grabbing my keys and opening the door. I feel my phone buzz in my pocket, startling me slightly. I grab it, seeing the message from Giyuu saying he’ll be home soon. I respond quickly, saying I can’t wait to see him. He had gone out to see Mitsuri, giving me the perfect opportunity to finish getting things ready and to get a pep talk from Shinobu.
I shake the nerves from my hands, heading upstairs to change. Once I’m just about finished, I hear the jingle of his keys and the click of the door opening and closing, followed by the sound of the lock turning and being checked again. “Hey darling, I’m upstairs!” I call down, hearing his footsteps pounding up the stairs then the door slamming open as he runs into the room, almost knocking me over as he wraps his arms around my waist from behind, resting his chin on my head. “I missed you…” He mumbles against my hair. I put my hand over his, rubbing my thumb over his knuckle.
I turn around, still trapped in his arms, leaning up to plant a kiss on his lips and wrap my arms around his neck. He smiles into the kiss, his mouth tasting vaguely like baked goods and tea. “You have fun at Mitsuri’s?” I ask as I pull away slightly, resting my head against his chest. We sway lightly, arms wrapped around each other and bodies pressed as closely together as two people can possibly be. “Mm hmm, we made cookies. There’s some for you downstairs.” God I love this man.
