Chapter Text

Coy stepped out of the taxi with two suitcases. That’s all he had. Right in front of him was his new apartment building. The sun was just starting to set.

Coy grabbed his stuff a walked up the steps to floor five; he walked into the corridor trying to figure out how to navigate through the new environment.

As he walked looking at the door numbers, someone walked around a corner and bumped right into him.

“Oh! I’m so sorry!” The girl who bumped into him said.

“It was my fault, I’m sorry.” Coy responded.

“Are you new?” She asked.

“Oh umm… yeah I just moved.” Coy nervously scratched his head.

“What room?” The girl said looking at his phone. “OH 507! That’s next to mine!”

“We’re neighbors?” Coy followed her as she started walking back the way she had just came.

“Yep! I’m Hanbon!”

“I’m Coy, nice it meet you.” He smiled.

“Do you have a job?” Hanbon asked as they got to his apartment.

“Oh… no, I was planing on looking for one tomorrow.” Coy fumbled the keys in his hand. He had saved up enough to not need a job the first week but the sooner he’d found one the better.

“Well, if you’d like… come in to Pizza Jonny’a tomorrow. One of our waiters quit, and they are desperate for a new hire.” Hanbon said with a waiting grin on her face.

Coy nodded at her, “I’ll come by tomorrow.” He was glad to meet someone who was so nice.

Coy waved as he walked into his appointment. It was smaller than he’d expected. A small kitchen and living area, a bedroom with a closet, a bathroom and a small area it a large window that looked out into the city.

Thankfully it was furnished with the basic necessities: a couch, a stove, a bed, a small table, and a lamp that looked older than him.

Coy layed his bags down and flopped on the couch. Sadly he’d have to buy a Tv, but it was nice to finally be in his new place.

He googled ‘pizza johnys near me’. It wasn’t too far from the apartment, and if they were as desperate as Hanbon said they were then maybe he could pick up a shift tomorrow.

Coy’s eyes grew heavy as he scrolled through instagram. He dozed off right on the couch his phone still in his hand against his chest.

Bzzt bzzt

His phone buzzed, it was 10am, it wasn’t his alarm. He looked at his phone which was at four percent battery.

“Han.bon sent you a friend request”

Coy clicked accept then plugged his phone into the charger. He stretched out his legs which were crammed against the arm rest.

“Ugh,” Coy groaned, “I need to get up.”

He slowly sat up, and then pulled his shirt off. He unzipped his suit case and looked at the clothes he brought, it wasn’t much he planned to buy new clothes soon. He grabbed a green shirt and then slipped his converse back on.

He walked out of the apartment and then down the hall to the stairs. Thought he might see Hanbon in the hall, but she was probably either at work or asleep.

He stepped outside, the road was already busy. He waved down a taxi and hopped in, requesting to be taken to Pizza Johnny’s.

He watched as the car passed by. He was worried about the job. He’d had experience with working at restaurants, but it didn’t help his worries.

The taxi pulled up to the sidewalk around the restaurant. Coy got out of the car and walked up to the door.

It wasn’t the lowest quality restaurant he’d seen, not by a long shot. He stepped through the door to a line. The whole place was packed and two people were running around the tables taking pizza’s out and getting orders at the front. One of the people was Hanbon who spotted him.

An older man walked up to him. “Are you the boy Hanbon told me about?”

“Oh um yes, I’d like to apply.” Coy responded.

“Can you take orders?” The man asked.

Coy nodded.

“You’ve got the job!” The man handed Coy an apron and pointed toward the back of the restaurant. “I’m the manager Mr. Chungus.”

Coy walked into the back room, one of the guys, who has been running in and out of there, was now pulling pizzas out of the oven the second they were done, and the other guy was making the pizzas just as quickly.

Hanbon bursted through the door. She looked shocked for a second. “No time to train you, just take the pizzas to the table on the receipt.” She handed him a small map of the tables numbers.

During the next few hours it was pretty packed but around 2 o’clock it was almost empty.

Coy walked into the back where the two guys and Hanbon were talking.

“Hey guys this is my neighbor, Coy!” Hanbon pulled him into a side hug.

“Oh umm hi.” Coy waved.

One of the boys was taller and had an Afro and a mustache, he was wearing a black shirt with the logo of the restaurant on it, the same as Hanbon.

The other guy, must’ve been the head cook. He had a white apron, bright blue eyes, brown wavy hair, and an intoxicatingly serious face.

The both of them waved. “This is Will and Anthpo!” Hanbon grinned.

“Hi Will and Anthpo!” Coy said cheerfully.

“Anthony.” Anthpo said.

“Huh?” Coy replied.

“It’s Anthony.” Anthpo said.

“Oh sorry I thought Hanbon sai-“ Coy was interrupted.

“Yeah only Hanbon can call him Anthpo.” Will said with an awkward expression.

Anthony was looking at Coy with a glare. A few more customers came in, and Hanbon and Coy went to help them.

“Anthony hates me already.” Coy grabbed a stack of menus.

“He doesn’t hate you, he’s just not good with new people… or any people.”

Coy just nodded, and continued to work.

Later in the day they closed the store and Hanbon was showing him things he’d need to know. After Hanbon’s instructions, they went outside with Will and Anthony to the back exit.

Will and Anthony were smoking on the side walk. Hanbon sat beside Anthony who gave her a small smile. Honestly to Coy it couldn’t even be considered a smile, but that’s probably the best Anthony could do.

“You did good for your first day, Coy.” Will said as he leaned forward to see him. The smell of weed was lingering in the air.

“We’re gonna hang out at my apartment tonight if you wanna come, it’s like a sleep over.” Hanbon asked coy.

Anthony nudged her with his elbow and gave her an annoyed look.

“It’s fine Anth.” She whispered, “he’s cool.”

“Umm sure i guess I’ll go.” Coy replied.

Will gave him a smile as he motioned for Anthony to get in the car to leave.

Will hopped into the passenger seat of Anthony’s car. Hanbon gave Anthony a hug and he got into the car and left.

Hanbon started walking towards the front parking lot, “wanna share a taxi? Will and Anthony are going home before they come over.”

“Sure, just… are you and Anthony dating?” Coy asked.

“No why?” Hanbon laughed to herself a little. “You jealous?” She said as a joke obviously, but Coy smiled to himself.

“No no, im actually not like that…” Coy laughed.

“Not like that?”

“I… uh, I’m gay.” Coy looked down at the sidewalk while they waited for the cab. This could be a long ride depending on her opinion.

“Oh well I’m glad you felt comfortable telling me!!” Hanbon seemed really supportive. “Ready for our little sleepover?”
