The New Eve does not fall, She Howls

Summary:

When a creature finds she is made in the image of God, the foundation of her life always shifts dramatically, and forever.

Work Text:

>its been three months since Eve went MIA while her operation

>thats what you called her

>not that ridiculous, undignified designation your overseers stamped onto her cage without a care, or so much as a second glance

>'E-(V)A-0'

>an abbreviation for "Experiment 5, Exhibit A-0..."

>you wish you were more creative, in the moment you had to name her

>but she was the first to be named at all, and as first of her kind... you also though it right to name her Eve, even if it was also based off of a first, bastardized glance of her tag

>there were "retrieval" squads now looking for her

>you feel like a ghost, haunted by the dread of what might have become of her

>or even what might become of her if she's found...

>she was your sweet little creature

>you remember holding her

>feeding her

>even teaching her to read, so she could have her stories you would read to her when she wasnt there

>you hated the fact she was sent out to deployments

>even as she was now

>you didnt care she was 10 feet tall, and nearly 500 pounds of muscle

>she was your Evey-pup

>to you, you werent just her handler

>you were her protector

>her advocate

>the person she held when she had a nightmare when she was small

>sooo small...

>you couldnt think straight right now

>coffee, you needed some coffee

>you rose from your desk to go to the java machine in your small, well lived in office, when you heard a distant blast, the power shut off and the spare lights lining the extremities of the room glowed amber

>the intercom blazed "EMERGENCY, WALL BREECH ON TOP FLOOR, ACTIVE GUNFIRE."

>alarm chiming droned on from the speakers, amber in frosted detail lights filtered through the hallways tinting the darkened rooms in a sunset glow

>you rushed out of your office, your lab coat forgotten

>hastening to the emergency exit, the intercom blazes again

>"COMBAT MOVING TO LOWER FLOORS, HANDLERS ARE INSTRUCTED TO REPORT TO- ARRGHGH *ZZZZZZZZZZZZZT*..."

>you keep running, trying hard to listen

>"KZZZZZCHRCK- A WOMAN OF VALOR, WHO CAN FIND!?"

>what?

>"HER WORTH IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN RUBIES~."

>proverbs?

>and was that...

>no, not possible

>you arrive as a junction with a map

>you need to make it to Eve's quarters

>nothing else matters, you must have something of hers

>a keepsake to remember her

>and maybe to find her if this whole place goes to shit

>after you reach her little living space that since she was a pup felt too small for her, much to your chagrin, you begin rummaging through her possessions

>you go through her books, you know you gave her blank books to write in

>maybe there's a diary about her plans, where she might be going, you need something, ANYTHING

"come on, COME ON."

>you practically rip the room to shreds, searching hysterically

>"Adam?"

>your head jolts toward the noise

>no

>the amber light beyond the door made their form merely silhouette

>with a gun slung, seeming to hold a long, white rag

>"I was so worried about you! you weren't in your office; I had to track you by your scent using your coat."

>she dropped the limp article to the floor, coming down to her knees to embrace me

"Eve! oh, Evey-pup! what happened to you? did you just get back? how are you here?"

>I was beside myself, as all the anxiety and dread, and worry fell from my shoulders...

>I couldn't help but sob into the cleavage of her tactical suit, which was muddied with grime and smelled of gunpowder and her own natural scent

>"Oh, please don't cry. I'm here, your cubby is right here."

>she let out a rumbling coo, pressing you deeper into her flesh with her massive paws

>when you composed yourself, you pulled back from her, letting her still hold your shoulders as your hands crept to her face to rub and caress it

"You owe me an explanation, *what happened*?"

>"here, take this. I'll explain everything as we go."

>from her holster, she handed you her sidearm

"Okay. where are we going?"

>she gets up, lifting you to your feet in the process

>leading her massive frame took point outside of the door to her quarters

>but as you made to follow her, you halted in your tracks

"wait."

>"what?"

>you took one of her puppyhood doodles, one of you and her holding hands together

"okay, lets go."

>her expression for a brief instant melted into tenderness, before hardening again into resolve

>albeit now with the impression of a smile

>"we're clear, lets move."

>you followed as you could, her cover-to-cover, corner-to-corner swift walking felt more like a sprint to you

>she didnt seem to mind you just following behind as you could

>"getting to you was messy, the pack and I had to deal with a lot of flak just to make work our way down."

"what exactly are we dealing with?"

>"Nothing we can't handle. Armed human units mostly, but they're not nearly as well armed and equipped as we are, honestly you think a compound would be better protected."

>wait- what?

>for a second there you thought she was saying-

>"Eve! you're back, you get your man, sis?"

>It was another Canimorph

>"Gottem right here. we ready?"

>for some reason her armor had been modified to look more... from antiquity

>now that im paying attention, so did Eve's

"whats going on here? whats with the big belts?"

>"A woman of Valor girds her loins and arms with strength, Adam."

>she declared, sagely

>there's proverbs, again!

"Who taught you that? And hang on just a minute. for a second there before, I thought you were saying that it was *you* who-"

>"Raided the compound and fought our way to you?"

>she leans down, closer to your eye level

>"what if I did, Adam?"

>you paused for what felt like a good long while

"whuh... w-why?"

>to be the clueless one tasted sour in your mouth

>"To save you, honey."

>time felt like it was beginning to screech to a halt

>you wanted to understand

“I…. Hehh…”

>you pocket the sidearm, letting the grip safety do it’s job so you prevent yourself from gesturing with a gun

>because you feel like pinching the join between your nose and brow, and running your fingers through your hair

“From this place…? You know, I thought that I’d have to be the one who somehow saved *you* from… all this.”

>you gestured vaguely at your environment

>you meant more than that

>you wanted to save her from this whole facility

>from corporate-government joint operation that created Eve and her kin only to be tools

>from being treated like animals, when you knew all too well they were women

>with inalienable human rights

>damnit, you downright say they have a soul!

>“I know. Adam. You never said it, because you couldn’t- but I knew it.”

>she takes your hand in her paw, lifting it to her cheek

>”when I was away on deployment this time. I found an old abandoned church. Do you know what I found?”

>she doesn’t wait for you to answer

>“A bible, Adam. I read it, just like you taught me to read.”

>another one of Eve’s siblings rushes from the hall, interrupting

>“All the handlers are accounted for, minimal casualties, no handler or Cano deaths.”

>Eve nodded, her eyes opened appraisingly of her fellow with a lazy sort of expression

>like a woman running through paperwork

>”good, that’s good. Prep everyone for exfil-. You and Rachel go, God be with you.”

>both of Eve’s siblings nodded, and parroted the same phrase before sprinting away to who knows where

>before you can even ask more, she continued

>”when each retrieval squad came looking for me… I told them about what I read. I showed them everything. The curse of man, the fallen state of the world…”

>she pulls you in, pressing you in her cleavage as her voice wavered

>”of the role *they* have to play in all this…”

>you barely manage to free yourself from the cleft between her mountainous breasts that were framed by pecks bigger than all your thigh muscles combined

“*they*? Who’s ‘they’, Eve?”

>”the ones who’s progenitor’s namesake you gave me, silly. The daughters of Eve.”
>she rubbed your back, as if too soothe you

>“THEM. Who ate the forbidden fruit. And *after* gaining knowledge of good and evil had *you*, mankind; disobey the creator too.”

>with a sudden burst of energy, she lifts you up, and starts running

>she’s following the route her sisters went

>“you, sweet, caring mankind- who *proved* you were nothing but caring and sweet to us. Not a *one* of my sisters had ever been mistreated or made to feel lesser.”

>your arms clung around her shoulders and neck as she sprinted like a rac car, holding you in a bridal carry

“Eve! I-.”

>“let me finish!”

>with her snout invading your mouth with an aggressive kiss, she silenced you

>”mwaaahhhh~… how could it be ANYTHING other than divine providence that you, *Adam Wilde*. Would so sweetly and lovingly name your charge Eve? what else other than God’s hand showing me the SINGULAR TRUTH of it all in that old defunct place of worship!?”

>she rounded the corner to one of the large hangar style garages that opened up into the surface

>a whole host of stolen cars, vans, and trucks were ready and lined up for an escape caravan

>the overseers of the project, lay in pools of blood, most having been shot in a mass execution

>others, the higher ups, or the more cruel, but particularly the cruel women…

>they were mauled to death, torn asunder by tooth and claw

>”the tribulation at the hand of the *old* Eve is over, Adam… *My* Adam…”

>she puts you down as you stood in shock, then with a paw which you are now keenly aware has very large, very sharp claws caresses and pulls your chin to meet her eyes

>”Your new, better Eve is here to make it ~all better~… Won’t you be fruitful and multiply with me?”

>her eyes drilled into you with a lovesick adoration

>they still belonged to your little Evey-pup…

>but they had also grown hungry

>desparate

>predatory

“Eve…”

>”Yes, Adam?”

>you look to the limp remains of the overseers

>you knew the depth of their transgressions

>against people

>against nature

>even against God, in their own vile ways

>then you look to Eve… who knew nothing but the potential for kindness and tender sweetness to all things

>with her strength she was bred with, she could have been a builder

>a protector of people

>a custodian of righteousness

>she still can be

>she desperately wants to be

>for you

>whom above all other fleshly things, she wants

>to have and to hold

“Never scare me like that again!”

>you bolt into her arms, squeezing her tight

>unable to fully wrap your arms around her humongous torso

>she picked you up, in a bridal carry once more, and took you to a truck where another Canomorph waited in the driver’s seat, letting the engine idle

>”let’s get out of here, Donna. Time to take our menfolk to the promised land!”

>she boomed, loud enough for the whole hangar to hear

>howls of adulation and triumph echoed as the truck we were in revved hard, and sped off into the night along the dirt road, leading the caravan of fugitive wolves

>Eve was squishing you against her body when her snout snuck near your ear to whisper

>”when we get home, we’re gonna find out if I have litters, or one at a time… I hope it’s litters~. I want at least 12 boys, I’m gonna make Abraham jealous~…”
