No one knew when Sakuya changed.

One day he was just...Sakuya.

Quiet. Calm. Polite.

The type of person who apologized when someone else bumped into him.

Then one random Tuesday, he woke up and apparently decided that teasing Ryo was going to be his new favourite hobby.

The strange part?

He only did it to Ryo.

To everyone else, Sakuya was still the sweet, well-mannered guy who rarely spoke unless he had something important to say.

But the second Ryo walked into the room...

Something possessed him.

"Morning!"

Ryo dropped into the seat beside him with his usual bright smile.

Sakuya looked up from his notebook.

"Morning."

"Did you sleep well?"

"Mhm."

"Did you eat?"

"Mhm."

"Did you miss me?"

Sakuya didn't answer right away.

He stared at Ryo for a few seconds before slowly nodding.

"I did."

Ryo smiled so hard his eyes disappeared.

Behind them, Yujin looked physically offended.

"They've been dating for over a year."

Riku shrugged.

"And?"

"They're still flirting before eight in the morning."

"Yeah."

"I hate them."

"So do I."

A few minutes later, Ryo reached into his bag.

"...Where's my pen?"

He searched every pocket twice.

Nothing.

"Sakuya."

"Hm?"

"Have you seen my pen?"

"I have."

"...Can I have it back?"

"You can."

"..."

"..."

"...Can I?"

"..."

"..."

"Sakuya."

"What?"

"My pen."

"Oh."

Sakuya calmly reached into his own pencil case and handed it over.

Ryo blinked.

"...You stole it?"

"You left it on my desk."

"So, you stole it."

"I borrowed it."

"You never asked."

"You found out eventually."

Across the classroom, Yushi looked up from his notes.

"...Did Sakuya just gaslight his own boyfriend?"

Sion sighed.

"I've been trying to tell everyone."

"No one listens."

It only got worse after that.

Whenever Ryo looked away for more than five seconds, something mysteriously disappeared.

His phone.

His calculator.

His eraser.

Once...

His entire notebook.

He spent ten minutes looking for it before Sakuya quietly pointed toward the shelf above his head.

"...How did it even get up there?"

"I don't know."

"You literally can't even reach that."

"...Magic?"

Ryo narrowed his eyes.

"I don't trust you."

"You shouldn't."

"...Wait."

"...Did you just admit that?"

"No."

"You literally said—"

"No proof."

Ryo groaned.

"You've become evil."

Sakuya smiled.

It was tiny.

Barely there.

But Ryo knew that smile.

"...You're enjoying this."

"A little."

"A little?"

"...Maybe more than a little."

And somehow...

That was the scary part.

Because Sakuya always looked completely innocent while doing it.

Which meant no one believed Ryo whenever he complained.

"Sakuya hid my phone."

"I'm sure he didn't."

"He switched the sugar in my coffee with salt."

"I'm sure it was an accident."

"He keeps poking my cheek every time I concentrate."

"..."

"...Actually, that one sounds like something he'd do."

"THANK YOU!"

Ryo said it way too loudly, like he had just won a court case or something.

Sakuya didn’t even flinch.

He just looked at him for a second, then went back to his notes like nothing happened.

That should’ve been the end of it.

It wasn’t.

Whenever Ryo absentmindedly stole fries from Sakuya's tray...

Sakuya would quietly replace them with broccoli. Every. Single. Time.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"...Is this revenge?"

"No."

"..."

"...Maybe a little."

He also developed a habit of disappearing. Not actually disappearing. Just... Walking exactly five steps ahead.

Waiting.

The second Ryo caught up— He'd continue walking.

Five more steps.

Repeat.

 "You're doing this on purpose."

"No."

"You absolutely are."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"You smiled."

"I didn't."

"You smile with your eyes."

"..."

"...Rude."

Ryo would complain about being cold.

Five seconds later Sakuya would silently drape his hoodie over him...

...except one sleeve would somehow end up covering Ryo's face.

"Sa-ku-ya."

"Hm?"

"I can't see."

"Oh."

"..."

"..."

"I wondered why you stopped walking."

But nothing prepared anyone for the library incident.

The library was silent.

Painfully silent.

Everyone was studying.

Even Yujin.

Which was how serious exam season had become.

Ryo sat beside Sakuya highlighting notes.

Completely focused.

For almost fifteen minutes.

Then—

Very gently...

Very carefully...

Sakuya reached over...

And poked his cheek.

Once.

Ryo blinked.

"...?"

Sakuya continued reading.

Nothing happened.

Ryo shrugged.

Another five minutes passed.

Poke.

"..."

He looked over.

Sakuya was still reading.

Perfectly innocent.

"...Did you just—"

"Hm?"

"...Never mind."

Another four minutes.

Poke.

"..."

"..."

"...Sakuya."

"Hm?"

"...Stop."

"I didn't do anything."

"You literally poked me."

"No proof."

"You are sitting beside me."

"Coincidence."

"You are impossible."

"..."

"..."

"...Continue studying."

Three minutes.

Poke.

Ryo finally turned completely toward him.

"...Why?"

Without missing a beat, Sakuya answered,

"I wanted your attention."

"..."

"..."

"...You had it."

"I know."

"I wanted more."

Ryo's face turned bright red.

Across the table—

Yujin slowly closed his textbook.

"I can't study in these conditions."

The worst part?

Sakuya only did it to Ryo.

Everyone else still thought he was perfectly composed.

Until 30 minutes later, before heading to the café Jaehee found him standing behind Ryo.

Completely unnoticed.

Sakuya quietly reached up and clipped a tiny yellow duck hairpin into Ryo's hair.

Then calmly walked away.

Ryo continued talking to Sion for another ten minutes.

Completely unaware.

No one said anything.

They wanted to see how long it would take.

Twenty-three minutes.

Twenty-three whole minutes.

Finally Riku lost it.

"...Ryo."

"Hm?"

"...Mirror."

"What?"

"Just..."

"...Mirror."

Ryo looked.

"..."

"..."

"..."

He slowly turned toward Sakuya.

"..."

Sakuya looked up from his coffee.

"...Yes?"

"..."

"...Did you..."

"..."

"...Quack."

The café erupted.

Yujin nearly fell out of his chair.

Riku was wheezing into the table.

Even Sion covered his face.

Ryo stared for exactly five seconds before walking over.

Everyone expected revenge.

Instead—

He gently took Sakuya's face in both hands.

"...You're lucky you're cute."

Sakuya smiled.

"I know."

"...That wasn't permission."

"I know."

"...Will you do it again?"

Sakuya considered the question.

"...Probably."

Ryo sighed dramatically before wrapping his arms around him anyway.

"I've created a monster."

"No," Yushi corrected from the next table.

"You are dating one."

The entire café dissolved into laughter.

And Sakuya—

The quiet, polite, seemingly well-behaved Sakuya—

Had the audacity to look completely innocent.

No one believed him anymore. Especially not Ryo, who had learned that the sweetest smiles usually meant Sakuya was already planning his next harmless act of mischief.
