Mizuki, her girlfriend Ena, Airi and Shizuku had all spent the past few hours wondering around the handmade good event in Nonogi Park. There were dozens of stalls choc-full of cute outfits, sweets and accessories, truly a heaven for the four girls. They had visited as the event had lined up perfectly with Mizuki’s birthday.
Shizuku, Airi and Ena all had agreed to try and buy a shared present for Mizuki at the event alongside the other gifts they had gotten for her. However, that had proved easier said than done. Mizuki’s bank account seemingly never had a limit, the girl was buying new outfits and sweets left, right and centre before the other three even had the opening to buy anything for her.
“Hey guys!!! There’s a stall here selling some really cute ribbons, can we take a look???” Mizuki’s eyes were beaming with excitement.
“Of course!! It’s your birthday after all, go right ahead!” Airi responded in kind, she was getting worried that they may never be able to buy a gift for Mizuki from the event.
Mizuki soon sprinted over to the stall and closely examined the ribbons, they were extremely well-made, with delicate frills and a close attention to detail. One ribbon in particular, however, had caught Mizuki’s eye.
“This is so cute! I love the way the pink contrasts the golden frills, I wonder how it would look on me?”
“If you like, you can try it on, we have a mirror here to let you see for yourself,” the older lady behind the stall pointed to the mirror hung on the supporting structure for the tent, with a warm smile.
“Thank you! I’ll try it now!” Mizuki perked up, took off the ribbon she was wearing and tied the stall’s ribbon onto her hair.
As Mizuki looked into the mirror with the new ribbon on, she couldn’t help but gasp at how perfectly it matched her. The shade of pink was similar to that of her own hair, but not in a way that blended in from a distance, the golden frills on the exterior shined in the sunlight and aided the pink-haired girl in glowing even more than she normally did. It even matched well the clothes Mizuki chose to wear that day, a white dress with pink frills strewn across.
“Wow… Mizuki, you look so pretty,” Shizuku was amazed.
“You really do, you know? Like, super pretty,” Airi added, too, absolutely amazed, “I wonder what Ena thinks, hehe.”
“Well… um, if I had to say… Mizuki is the cutest thing I’ve seen today, the ribbon really is the cherry on the pink cake,” Ena couldn’t help but be in awe at how stunning her girlfriend was, even if she hated to admit it, “I can’t believe I just said that out loud!!”
“Only today, huh? Enanan! You’re saying there is something cuter than me that you’ve seen before??” teased Mizuki, putting on her little ragebaiter face in the process.
“Shut it! You know what I meant!! Honestly, Mizuki,” Ena rolled her eyes, always ready to easily fall for Mizuki’s bait, Airi and Shizuku couldn’t help but chuckle.
A long time ago, Mizuki couldn’t stomach to look into a mirror, she couldn’t stand herself back then. But, thanks to the love and warmth she had received, especially from Ena, Airi and Shizuku, she could finally do so and see how beautiful she really was.
“Well, thank you guys nonetheless, it really does suit me. I gotta buy it!” Mizuki immediately opened up her wallet, only to realise something… she had no more cash left, the shock went across her face in an instant, ‘Oh no! I really really want this, but how? I don’t have the money…’
‘Wait, this is the prime time!’ the thought immediately flashed into Airi’s mind, she signalled to both Shizuku and Ena, “Well then, good thing it is your birthday, isn’t it, Mizuki?”
“Wait… huh?”
“We’ve been waiting all this time for a moment to get you something from this event as a gift! But you were so fast with buying stuff that we weren’t able to find an opening to do so!” Ena added on, “So, how about this, this will be a gift from us to you, for your birthday.”
“I agree, it’s the best way to deal with this,” Shizuku added, in her usual, graceful tone.
“You guys would do that for me?? Thank you so much! You guys are the best!” Mizuki’s face turning from a slight downer to one with a smile as wide as the Pacific Ocean.
Soon enough, the three girls did indeed pay for the ribbon as a gift for Mizuki, who was already wearing the new accessory proudly. Since Mizuki had run out of money, and Ena, Airi and Shizuku succeeded in their objective, they soon left the handmade goods event, planning to finish the wonderful day off with a little picnic, they did buy a lot of sweets, after all.
The four soon found a patch of grass under some shadow deeper into Nonogi Park, Airi laid out her cat-themed picnic blanket and the other three pulled out all their food items. There was a strong variety, it was an afternoon tea without, well, the tea. Macarons, small cheesecakes, scones and a sandwich platter were placed down onto the blanket.
“This all looks so great! You two sure you are able to have some of these? Don’t you need to keep to your diet?” Mizuki was excited, but a little worried about Airi and Shizuku, since the two were idols, they had to stick to a strong and healthy diet.
“Don’t worry, it’s a cheat day!” Airi replied, she had ensured that she and Shizuku did not eat any sweets or unhealthy foods in the days leading up to Mizuki’s birthday, despite how tempting it was when Minori brought a whole pack of sweets the other day…
“Indeed, nothing wrong with a cheat day every once in a while,” Shizuku added.
“Thank you, guys! I don’t think Ena or I could be able to finish all the lovely treats we have here,” Mizuki laughed.
“What do you mean? I could eat a dozen cheesecakes without any issues,” Ena boldly claimed.
“You absolutely sure about that? What about that time you gained-” Mizuki couldn’t finish her sentence without a bonk on the head and Ena’s hand covering her mouth.
“Look! Airi, Shizuku! My girlfriend is hurting me!! Tell her off, pretty please!” Mizuki’s crocodile tears only led to the two idols laughing again.
‘Man, Mizuki and Ena really are two peas in a pod, huh. They’re made for each other,’ Airi thought to herself, ‘It is a miracle they met.’
“Well then, I suppose we should start to tuck into our food?” Shizuku was excited to finally eat some sweet treats, Airi’s coaching of her diets had left her longing for the taste of a macaron again.
“Definitely!” Airi responded in kind.
“Thank you for the meal!”
As they were eating, a message notification appeared on Mizuki’s phone.

NEW MESSAGE FROM “MINORI <333”
“Happy Birthday Mizuki-chan!! I hope you are having a really good day with Shizuku, Airi and your gf!!! Haruka and I have something for you! <video attachment >”

“Wait!!! A message from Minori?!?!?! OMG!!!!” Mizuki’s eyes widened, a birthday message from her favourite idol?! With a video with Haruka to boot?! Could the day get any better??
“Wait, actually? I didn’t know they were planning something too! That’s so sweet.” Airi was shocked, but happy for the pink-haired girl infront of her. Minori had spoke to Airi before about wanting to get closer with Mizuki, ‘This must be related to that, how sweet of her. Minori is truly an amazing person.’
“Also, wait a minute. Minori has so many hearts on the contact info! I only have one!” Ena pouted light-heartedly, a little jealous at not being at the very top of the hierarchy.
“Sorry Enanan! You might be my wonderful girlfriend and dearest friend, but Minori is just something else, she is the best!!!” Mizuki teased, finding another way to glaze her favourite idol, “Anyway! Let’s watch the video together!”

“Hey Mizuki-chan! Hope you’re having a great day!! I’ve been wanting to get closer to you and wanted to make a video specially for your birthday!” Minori was beaming as she always, “I was actually planning on doing this solo, but the wonderful, pretty, cute, best girlfriend ever, Haruka-chan, wanted to join in too!”
“Minori… hehe,” Haruka smiled, giving a little wink, “Well, Mizuki-san, I hope you enjoy our performance, tailored for you,”
“A performance from Minori and Haruka… for me?!?! Am I dreaming??” Mizuki screamed in excitement; the girl could barely contain herself.
The two idols on her phone soon gave a duet performance of the MORE MORE JUMP! song ‘DREAM PLACE!’, Mizuki’s favourite song. She fell in love with the song when she watched the idol group perform it live after Minori’s speech at their first large concert.
‘Wow, Minori, that’s really great. The choreography is on point, you and Haruka are doing our lines so well, too,’ Airi smiled while watching, ‘Minori does so much for her fans and friends, she truly is a wonderful person, and idol.’
Airi took a glance towards Mizuki, the girl’s jaw was dropped and her eyes were full of a fangirly glow that Airi had only seen come from Minori’s, the pink-haired girl was absolutely over the moon at, what was most certainly, the best birthday gift of the day, hands down.
After they had finished their performance, Minori walked towards the camera.
“Happy Birthday, Mizuki-chan!” the idol formed a heart with her hands, “Let’s have another amazing year, and have more and more amazing memories together!”
“Happy Birthday, Mizuki-san! We hope you appreciated this video from us!” Haruka added on, just before the video ended.

There was a short moment of quiet after the video ended, with Ena, Airi and Shizuku looking towards Mizuki, who was clearly still processing the previous three minutes of her life.
‘OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!! MINORI AND HARUKA PERFORMED DREAM PLACE?? THEY WISHED ME HAPPY BIRTHDAY?? MINORI GAVE ME A HEART?? I’M- AOIJGHSDGHIDFHNM!!!’ Mizuki was screaming internally, her limbs were shaking in complete and utter excitement.
“Well, Mizuki, what did you think about the video?” Ena asked.
It took a moment until Mizuki registered what Ena had asked…
“Ena do you see what I mean, look Minori is just the best, look at her. She and Haruka made a birthday video for me, they performed DREAM PLACE, my favourite song, this is the best day of my life, I am so happy, so happy. Minori is just the best idol ever, and oh my, did you guys see that, she gave me a heart!!! I’m-” Mizuki was about to scream externally too, but she had just enough self-restraint to not cause a scene in the park.
“Okay, Mizuki, we get it, I’m so happy for you though!” Airi’s grin was extremely strong, “We didn’t even know those two were going to make that video for you! How sweet!!”
“RIGHT??? I think I love all you guys even more now, but especially Minori!!!! She didn’t have to do this, but she did!!” Mizuki was still dazed in adrenaline and happiness, “Also, wait! Wait! Didn’t she say she wanted to make memories with ME?! Man!!! We GOTTA hang out together super soon!! I really want to, could you imagine how-”
The excitement became a bit too much for Mizuki, the girl pulled a classic move and became distracted by her own dreamy thoughts.
“Hey! Hold on a moment! Mizuki!!” Ena called out, “We still have to give you our gifts, too!! Stay awake!”
Ena, Airi and Shizuku couldn’t help but laugh at the entire situation. Mizuki was truly having the best birthday ever, one that would stay with her for the rest of her life, a birthday she deserved after all the pain and struggles over the years.
“Let’s give her a minute to recover,” Airi suggested, with the other two nodding.
…
Soon after, Mizuki did indeed recover and responded to Minori’s message. She was even more beaming with excitement than she was prior. Perfect timing for Airi, Shizuku and Ena to hand their gifts over to the birthday girl, with Shizuku going first.
“The other day, at the sewing café, I managed to buy a large variety of unique threads,” Shizuku excitedly declared, “They had them in some new colours, such as a new shade of pink and purple! I hope you really like them!”
“Aww! Thank you Shizuku! These look really great! And you got so much too!” Mizuki was grateful for the small, but really useful gift, “We should have another sewing day soon! Maybe we could invite Haruka and Mafuyu again!”
“That sounds wonderful!” Shizuku smiled, “Let’s organise one soon!”
Then it was Airi’s turn.
“I know you’re gonna love this,” Airi confidently declared, “A pair of matching cat ears for the both of us! I sneakily bought it after we went to that cat-themed festival with Minori, Kusanagi-san and Tenma-kun! I hope you love ‘em!”
“Awww!! This is so cute!!!!! Thank you so much Airi!” Mizuki was full of glee, and then she had an idea, “Can we put these on now?! I wanna see how cute we both are together!”
“Definitely! Was hoping you would ask!” Airi grinned, as both of the girls put their cat ears on and posed to Shizuku and Ena.
“Well, Enanan! What do you think? You always call me a kitty cat, now I am one!” Mizuki winked at her girlfriend.
“You look cute… I- I guess,” Ena shyly replied.
“Ena, we can both see right through you, just admit it!” laughed Airi.
“Shut it! It’s too embarrassing” Ena was too embarrassed to admit that she thought Mizuki was too adorable and cute, maybe too much to handle.
The four of them started laughing again, the focus on Ena soon set the stage for her to give her girlfriend her birthday present.
“Hmm, I wonder what Enanan could’ve possibly got for little ol’ me!” Mizuki teased, though genuinely excited to see what her dearest could’ve got for her.
Ena pulled out a large box from her bag, she opened it up and it was wrapped in a lot of bubble wrap, whatever it was, it was special. As she pulled it out, it became clear to Mizuki that it was…
“Mia and Lala?! No wait, that’s… us! Did you draw this, Ena?!” Mizuki was surprised, “You painted me as Mia and you as Lala. That’s so CUTE!!! You must’ve studied MiraMagi and worked hard to create this!”
“Of course I did! I’m so glad you like it,” Ena gave a warm smile, happy to see her girlfriend love her art, “This is that secret project I’ve been so hush-hush about the past week!”
MiraMagi was Mizuki’s favourite anime, it was actually where she got her online username “Amia” from, the show meant a lot to her. So to see Ena faithfully create fan art of each other as the two characters from the show filled her with such warmth, she truly was the best girlfriend Mizuki could’ve asked for.
“Thank you so much!!! I’m SO hanging it up on my wall! I love you so much, Ena!” Mizuki soon gave the artist a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek.
“That’s a really good piece, Ena! Well done!” Airi gave Ena a pat on the back.
“Agreed! It’s so lovely, I’ve always love your art, Ena,” Shizuku added with her usual grace.
“I suppose now there is only one thing left to say, right Shizuku, Ena?” stated Airi.
Both Shizuku and Ena nodded, and all three of them grabbed Mizuki’s hands and…
“Happy Birthday, Mizuki!” the three of them cheered.
“Thank you so much guys, you’ve made today so amazing,” Mizuki couldn’t help but smile and begin to tear up, “What could I do without you guys?! You are the best! I love you guys so so much!!”
Soon after, the girls finished all the food they brought with them for the picnic, and parted ways. Mizuki walked home with the biggest smile on her face, she couldn’t have asked for anything more, it was the best birthday she ever had.
