Chapter Text
She fell back with a yelp, the ice launching her across the arena. She landed hard on her tailbone, nearly skidding across the boundary line, but planting her hands behind her and stopping just in time.
Her breath fogged as she breathed, the air had gained a chill from all the ice. Todoroki was half-covered in ice, his movements slowing.
She gritted her teeth and stood, her leg throbbing painfully. Taking a fighting stance, she moved closer, slowly, gauging his movements.
She moved within a few feet of him, then lifted her hands above her head, lifting her injured leg in the Karate Kid stance. Todoroki let out a breath, then gestured, a sign of ice to come.
Before she could be frozen, Asai jumped and karate-kicked him in the stomach as hard as she could, using a bit of electricity to boost her momentum. He flew across the arena, crashing into the wall that surrounded it. Asai let out a relieved sigh, just as the ice encased her body and she lost conciousness.
"TODOROKI IS OUT OF BOUNDS! KONOHATO WINS!!!"
The crowd went wild, Class 1-A being the loudest of all. Only one man wasn't happy.
He huffed as the flames on his face burned with fury.
Disappointing.
He wouldn't even look at Todoroki's prone form as he left the arena.
*Time skip brought to you by my Karate Kid knowledge (sorry if I got it wrong, I don't know karate)*
Asai regained consciousness, refusing to open her eyes as her head throbbed. She grunted, wishing her leg would stop aching.
A loud *SMOOCH* made her eyes pop open to see Recovery Girl.
"Ah, you're awake! You're all healed up now, so why don't you go watch your classmates' matches?"
She handed Asai a crutch so she wouldn't put pressure on her leg, then shooed her out the door.
As she left, Asai could hear her muttering, "Kids these days are so reckless..."
Continuing out into the rows of seats, Asai looked for her classmates, spotting Mina's bright pink hair. She moved to get closer, but was knocked down by someone, her crutch clattering to the ground. She looked up, expecting the person to apologize, but he glared at her through the flames on his face, then kept walking.
She huffed in annoyance, muttering to herself.
"Well, that was rude."
Hobbling as best she could toward her friends, Asai dusted off her crutch and moved in between the seats, plopping down next to Ochako.
The brunette grinned and pumped her fist, though her eyes were red from crying. "Yay! Asai-chan, you beat Todoroki!"
Asai thanked her, but couldn't stop herself from asking, "Are you okay?"
Ochako blinked at her for a moment, then let her grin return, though dimmer than usual.
"It's nothing! I just lost my match to Bakugou whille you were unconscious."
Asai bit her lip, unsure of how to respond to comfort her friend, when Kaminari yelled from the row above them.
"Hey! Asai-chan! Why'd that big flame dude knock you down?"
Asai only shrugged in response. "Guess he was in a hurry."
Bakugou grumbled from next to Kaminari. "That was the No. 2 Hero, Endeavor. He's a jerk and nobody likes him."
Kaminari poked him with his elbow. "Sounds like you've got beef with him, man."
The two boys began bickering as Asai turned her attention to the next match, Kirishima vs. Testsutetsu. The two were evenly matched, and the fight ended in a draw.
Asai grinned, knowing Kirishima would find that "manly".
Mina poked her cheek. "Whatchu smilin' about?"
"Nothing," Asai responded, a bit too quickly.
