Hello all, TMKnight here! I just wanted to give some updates and say that progress is going very well on writing my book, When Gods Blink! I'm about halfway through with the initial draft of Book 1 (writing chapter 39 right now. It's going to be comparable in length to DN Volume 5, I think.) I have a trilogy planned out, and I'm going to complete the first book before I start releasing on SB, RR, and a website I'll code for it. (I already bought the domain name, and I'm good at webdev. It'll be pretty cool!)
I've mentioned before, but it's a spiritual successor to DN with more existential themes than I could've managed with TBATE. It will have a very heavy character focus, and I think I've outdone my previous works already in this regard. Expect very weak to very strong progression for the main character, Caspian du Clair. He likes to think of himself as a noir detective, but for the crime of being French-inspired, he has been forced into a Lovecraftian horror story against his will. Imagine a fusion of Sevren and Seris' personalities, and you have a good baseline for the way he thinks. The magic system dynamically interacts with each character's flaws and struggles, and is inspired by Bloodborne and Elder Scrolls, with lots of eldritch horror (and eldritch beauty!) as undertones. The worldbuilding is pretty complex: think Stormlight-esque again. It's set during a quasi-Age of Sail, with a mishmash of inspiration from the 1500s Spanish Empire, the Aztec Empire, (or Aztec triple alliance if you really want to be technical), Revolutionary Era France, the British Empire (if it was a little more Celtic!), and many more such touches. Also, there's romance, because I think I'm pretty good at writing that. I expect to finish writing the draft in 6 to 9 months, and I'll take a little bit of time afterwards refining book 1 before I release it chapter by chapter. Feel free to ask me whatever questions y'all have about the book!
