Summary
Sephiroth always feels a little more grounded after reading science books. Like the world makes a little more sense. Like he knows things, true things. Like he won't have to worry that someone will make a weird face, or laugh, when he says those things out loud.
He picks up the book he's been wanting to finish from where it’s been lying on the metal crate beside his bed. It's not an especially thick book, but quite big. The cover is dark blue and glossy. In white, cursive letters, the title reads “Born To Fly."
The book is about birds. Not just the birds of Midgar, but birds from all over the world. Sephiroth has read about birds that live in the woods, in the desert, and in the jungle. There is only one chapter left: birds of the sea.
He arranges the book on his lap, and turns the pages until he finds the chapter. A bookmark would be neat to have. And a ruler—Sephiroth likes reading, but his eyes don't. Sometimes they have trouble focusing. It helps when he puts his finger on the page, though.
“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water,” the first line of the chapter reads.
