Also, I feel like Soundwave wouldn't be big on hugging/physical contact, so Hot Rod is like "He doesn't want hugs. It took me way too long to convince him to fist bump me, a hug is out of the question!"
Which is unfortunate for Hot Rod, who loves giving out hugs. XD
There is no in-between. Soundwave is either fairly chill or ready to kill you at the slightest offense.
Megatron keeps going "Starscream!" Whenever Starscream gains power in a completely different universe. He's not around, but he just knows what Starscream is doing.
I heard that Bumblebee joked about one of Soundwave's cassettes blowing up and had trouble believing it because that is a messed up thing to joke about. Especially in a transformers show that practically screams it was made for kids from what I watched of it.
Hot Rod is sad at the lack of hugs, but good on him for actually respecting his crushes boundaries. It'll also make it so when Soundwave does accept his hugs, they'll feel even better. He knows Soundwave actually wants to hug him and isn't just allowing it because he knows it will make Hot Rod happy.
Soundwave is either crashing out (asleep) or CRASHING OUT (destroying everything, and giving Unicron a run for his money)
Everyone from the Earthspark universe is confused, because he will be doing community and then suddenly, inexplicably, without any reference and full of the most vitriolic rage, yells Starscream's name. Then he goes back to being peaceful, although very confused.
The thing is, (aka, the reason it's usually excused) the way Bumblebee says it, we don't really have any proof the cassette died. So, Bumblebee says "the Cassette exploded", and in NORMAL cassettes, that just means the tape has come out and it needs to be wound back up. Plus, Mo and Robby (the human kids) are from the generation that have never seen/interacted with an actual (non-sentient) cassette, so they look HORRIFIED and are clearly distressed (to the point that Bumblebee says "Probably not the right time for this story" or something similar).
But, as the more astute point out: Soundwave is the most eager to kill Megatron (arguably, that should be Starscream); and, the most obvious: The only Cassettes we see Soundwave interacting with are ALIVE/Sentient, plus everyone is curious why Frenzy is there and not Rumble, as Rumble is the more commonly chosen when only one is picked.

Soundwave goes to regular person levels of calm and does not know how to handle it. Where's the anger? The rage?
No one, not even Megatron, knows why he randomly starts cursing out Starscream when Starscream isn't even in this universe anymore.
I can only hope that 'exploding' didn't actually kill one of the cassettes, but I'm not that optimistic with Rumble's conspicuous absence and just how much Soundwave wants to kill Megatron. There has got to be a reason behind that rage, and one of Soundwave's kids dying would certainly explain it.
Earthspark Soundwave, on Cyberverse Cybertron: *Experiencing joy for the first time in a long time*
He then pulls a Zuko, and promptly passes out from the lack of rage/fight mode, because he's been stuck like that for so long that his brain just goes "I guess I'm dying now" and he falls into a coma, scaring everyone (especially Hot Rod). He eventually wakes up, but he is VERY confused by the lack of anger. XD
Soundwave's main fuel for the last 1,000 years was rage. How is he supposed to function now that it's gone?
Everyone starts assuming that Megatron isn't over Starscream. There was totally something going on between them during the war.
Ah, yes, the Bumblebee woobifiers, and the people that act like he's a kid even when he's a full grown adult and possibly even older than our other characters (Transformers One). Why can't they just let him be a guy like he was in G1?
Soundwave no longer has a pounding headache every hour of every day. He also isn't clenching his jaw 24/7/365 XD
Megatron: "I don't like him! He tried to kill me!"
Optimus: "Then why do you randomly yell his name?"
Megatron: "I don't know. Maybe he's doing something stupid?"
Like, the only time I recall him being treated like a kid in G1 was when Optimus picked him up in one episode. Even then, it seemed more like a "let me bring you up to my level because I physically can not kneel low enough to look you in the eyes" thing.
Soundwave starts stressing himself out because he doesn't know how to handle not being stressed.

I meant the Teansformers One Movie, not the original cartoon. I actually like him in G1. I meant that everyone who watched TFO acts like Bumblebee is a literal child when he's probably older than Optimus, Megatron, and Arcee. I mean, he actually recognizes the high guard when no one else does, and seeing as Optimus doesn't recognize them after all his time in the archives that data was probably erased. That means Bee was probably old enough to actually remember the high guard meaning he's older than the rest of our main group. And yet so many people act like Bee is Optimus' kid or something instead of them being friends. Bumblebee doesn't always have to be the young one! Just let him be another guy!
Sorry that got so long, I am frustrated with everyone infantilizing Bumblebee. I liked him in G1 where he's just another guy.

No, I agree with your fury! Like, to be honest (excluding Prime and Earthspark) I don't really see the Cassettes as Soundwave's kids. It's suggest (if not outright stated) in multiple comics that Ravage is older than Soundwave, and Soundwave usually defers to him for knowledge.
I know a decent amount of the woobifying of Bumblebee comes from a few main sources:
- Transformers: Animated (they got human disguises and his was apparently modeled after a child. Funnily enough, Whirl also uses a child human form, apparently.)
- The Bayverse Movies (Bumblebee was implied to be much younger than the rest of the Autobots)
- Transformers One (His innocence and wonder at the world, combined with his size; people will cry "oh, he's MEANT to be a child! He's child-coded!" which, as a shorter person... I hate that claim.)
Somehow, this has extended to all of the cartoon media. Fans of just the cartoons have decided that, no matter what he does it's not his fault, he's just a little baby boy.
That is a full-grown man and he murdered Soundwave's family (in Prime, apparently).
Soundwave sleeps for an entire day straight to start catching up on his missed sleep.
I mean, it's fun talking about the cassettes like they're Soundwave's kids, but I don't think they normally are his kids either. I think Ravage adopted Soundwave in the comics(?), so that makes Soundwave Ravage's kid which is also fun to play around with.
I will admit that Bumblebee is very childish in Transformers Animated, at least in the few episodes I've watched of it.
I have not watched the Bay movies, nor do I want to, so I can't speak for that Bumblebee other than to say that those movies getting rid of his voice box and making every future Bumblebee lose his voice box is annoying. Like seriously, that's what you want to take from the movies?
I don't like that everyone has decided Transformers One Bumblebee is a kid. He is an adult who is innocent and excitable. Those traits don't belong exclusively to children, just let him be an adult and make his own choices.
I understand certain traits of characters following them between different continuities, but Bumblebee being young is not one of them.
Like with bumblebee, I feel like some people take it way too far though, like to the point where they actually give them the mentality of children. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure that, according to some toys, Rumble and Frenzy are not only more violent than Soundwave, but also have more courage.
See, but characters can be childish, without it being an allegory for them being an actual child. That fact is something a lot of fandoms have an issue reconciling with.
I saw some of one of them (idk which one) way way WAAAAAY back in highschool (a teacher decided to show it) and I have to say: I'm glad they only took that. Because Bumblebee's character was absolutely assassinated like everyone else's (apparently, Hound is 100% down to just... murder humans because they're annoying him. Not in his way or trying to hurt him, just ANNOYING him.)
TFO Bumblebee is a full grown man who has known nothing but complete and total isolation. Of COURSE he's going to express child-like wonder at a world he's never seen before. And OF COURSE he's going to fanboy over the high-guard, he knows who they are and all their adventures!
Isn't Soundwave's courage super low? He was not made to fight on the front lines.

Nooo, don't remind me of the Bay movies' assassination of one of my favorite characters. Hound may be an army green jeep, but he's just a sweet guy who loves Earth and it's creatures. He's not a grizzled war vet. And his looks! I am not a fan of how the bayverse characters look. I like the chunky squarish looks of G1. And oh, the faces, THE FACES. Why would the movies ever think those faces were a good idea?
Needless to say, I plan on never watching the bay movies.
Bee's child-like wonder makes so much sense for him, and he can have that will being an adult. Please, just let him stay an adult. He may be traumatized from being isolated for so long, but trauma like that doesn't mean that you are a child.
Apparently it's low in G1 and Prime (iirc), but I'm not sure about any other universe. Skybound Soundwave is definitely.... An exception. XD

........... Dorito Starscream. Really though, who thought those faces and designs were a good idea? Plus, all the dick/sex/bathroom jokes. G1 definitely had its... Questionable jokes ("A booby-trap that actually catches Boobies.") but they were more subtle than "Bumblebee stop peeing on this man."

As someone who has only seen snippets, I can say with confidence: DO NOT SEE THEM. Not worth the time.
Anyone of any age can experience child-like wonder. For instance, my mom has a friend who only recently saw Fireflies in real life. I experience child-like wonder every time I see a certain species of bird! Let Bumblebee be the audience-insert, let him ask about Earth, let him be the reason for exposition!
Skybound Soundwave is so ready to fight. He is full of courage. And the fact that Prime Soundwave has low courage is hilarious seeing as he's the spooky cryptid.
People think I'm way younger than I am. So yeah, it happens a lot in real life too. We're really bad at guessing ages.
Oh, from the clips I've seen and what I've heard I never want to watch the bayverse movies. Dick/sex/bathroom jokes make me cringe so much, and it seems like those are the movies' main source of humor. Please, choose jokes that are funny for people who aren't teenagers too.
Child-like wonder isn't hard to come by if you actually let yourself be somewhere and enjoy it. And Bee has plenty of reasons to experience wonder. Just let him be invested in Earth as an adult. He doesn't need to be a kid to want to experience the wonders of the new planet they ended up on.
