    Hot Rod keeps him warm (dude is battery-powered like a real cassette playing. He gets cold easily XD)

    Now I'm just imagining Cyberverse Hot Rod beating a floating Matix with a stick yelling "BE GONE DEMON. YOU'RE NOT WELCOME HERE!" While the matrix tries to float closer to him. XD

    Someone mistakes him for a dead body after a battle. He wakes up in the corpse pile and walks out of the corpse room, scaring all the new recruits. they start a rumor that he is immortal. Starscream feels offended (He doesn't know why).

      Hot Rod is now Soundwave's personal space heater. He's never going back to the Decepticons because that means losing Hot Rod.

      Hot Rod is happy how he is. He doesn't need the Matrix instantly aging him 30 years and giving him a mid-life crisis.

      Starscream is the immortal one! Not Soundwave :(

          The Matrix is following Hot Rod around like a sad puppy, but Hot Rod is not budging.

              Soundwave is so cute contently leaning against Hot Rod and purring as he naps. Hot Rod is trapped and cannot go to work, but it is a necessary sacrifice to keep Soundwave a prisoner.

              Hot Rod is a cat smacking the overeager dog Matrix.

              Shockwave adds a bunch of upgrades when he builds Starscream a new body.

                    Galvatron is fighting tooth and nail to get Soundwave back, and Soundwave is having none of it.

                    Hot Rod locks it in a box with big red "DO NOT OPEN" on it.

                      Soundwave is warm, cozy, resting well, and full for once in his life. He is not going back to the Decepticons where it's cold and everyone is starving. Sorry Galvatron, but Hot Rod won Soundwave's loyalty.

                      Hot Rod starts treating the Matrix like it's a demon and not a holy artifact of their people.

                      At least his ears will have to take Starscream seriously.

                          Poor Soundwave. The leader and faction he is loyal to is dead. At least he's getting away from Galvatron now.

                          I must admit I have a fic idea where Megatron goes so off the rails and moves so far away from the original Decepticon cause and ideals that Soundwave decides the best course of action is to kill Megatron and become the new Decepticon leader. And of course it catches everyone off guard that Soundwave, the most loyal Decepticon, is the one who actually kills Megatron.

                          The Matrix whispers power to Hot Rod, and Hot Rod is just like "Nah, I'm good."

                              The Autobots are so much safer than staying with Galvatron.

                              Yes! Everyone is on the wrong foot because after everything being the same for so long Soundwave shook it up in the most shocking way possible. Starscream is going to be tiptoeing around Soundwave for a while.
