Thanks! It didn't occur to me to think of that as unusual... I'll share it in my writer Discord group and see what people say! I think I probably over-research more than some other writers. I do feel that using real locations (homes, restaurants etc) even if not faithfully depicted does help enrich descriptions.
i have seen people put in *floor plans* before? but youre right!! having the location referenced really added a lot to the experience :> i get the same vibe when authors talk about specific towns, or professions. stuff where you can feel the tidbits and quirks come from a place of care, or at least attention?
like with the pants building. thats such a weird detail that it makes the world feel really... lived in? which. well. makes sense that its a real place. but i think you know what i mean orz
