AO3 has been "mainstream" since the early 2020s thanks to TikTok, unfortunately. I wouldn't be scared, though: AO3 was founded by authors of that sort of content, and their policies are going to stay the same. But now with Heated Rivalry and the likes putting a big spotlight on us, it is, sadly, likely that those people shouting about censorship will grow and grow. I've already seen articles about the impact fanfic has with the journalists using Heated Rivalry as an example >:/ All we can do is keep posting our "offensive" content and fight back against the growing cries for censorship. And it's important to keep in mind two things: 1). Those being most vocal are a minority in the fanfic community as a whole. And 2). If they were to scream about this in public to your average normie, they'd likely be looked at weird and ignored. At least, that's how I look at it.
