I'd always thought it odd because it's clearly out of character for both. Crow is a would-be Casanova type, and Rean at least once expresses distaste for the idea of a homosexual relationship (during a conversation with Dorothee if memory serves).
One thing I've always liked about Laura's route is at the end of the first game she swears to be Rean's sword, a sword that will not break until it returns to his side, and reaffirms that vow when you find her at Lohengrin Castle.
Something I forgot to mention, don't feel bad about tossing out ideas here and there. While an author obvious needs to retain primary creative control, an author who flat refuses to take outside input into consideration has no right to be called one. With that in mind, I should outline what's set in stone.
First, as we have discussed, the original Class VII remain the primary focus without interruption. I generally like Falcom, but they wrecked everything they'd built up in the first two games with the shift in focus. (This, incidentally, means the new class will not be secondary contractors for Valimar, that being a particularly egregious violation of established rules of the setting.)
Second, as I believe has been mentioned, a great reduction in the number of unwinnable battles. In the events of the second game, the only such will be the first (and only the first) run-in with Xeno and Leo and the fights involving McBurn. Related to this, the encounter with McBurn in the Infernal Castle will be the absolute last time the original Class VII need to be rescued. From III onward they need to be shown to stand up on their own.
Last, Aurelia Le Guin must die. She is, to be blunt, a smug bitch in every scene she gets in II, and her stated motives amount to committing treason for an ego boost. That she is still alive as of the third game strains my suspension of disbelief far beyond the breaking point.
Claire should stay allied with rean I hated that she sided with Osborne at end of 3. Cedric same thing he became an awakener then turned against rean and his friends for the sake of the rivalries.
Not sure bout letcher but millium you actually have to fight at end of 3. She sacrifices herself to
Already thought of Claire; essentially it'll be she finds outright murder to be a bridge too far. Millium I know about (and that she gets better), looking for a workaround on that one.
Of that I am well aware. I'm just annoyed at being without her for an entire game (ironic, as I originally shared Jusis's reaction when she joined Class VII).
Crow became immortal and during the rivalries in part 4 he was defeated his divine knight was supposed to be absorbed by reans but rean stopped the process.
The puppet master that was pulling the strings was defeated and it gave crow a second chance at life
You know what's funny duvalie actually joined forces with class 7 to after the black workshop ordeal
Wanna have a little fun bring Elise in early like around idk shortly after her first visit to Trista have her join class vii this way she can keep an eye on rean so he doesn't lose control
Make so she contacts her parents and inform then whats going on
That, I'm afraid, wouldn't fit with the way I'm setting things up. I do have special plans for the next free day, but they don't involve Elise beyond what we see in canon. (Aside, that part bugs me in that everyone seems to think Rean alone is at fault, when in fact Elise bears some of the blame for not telling him what the problem is.)
Start of Rean's journey to reunite Class VII. Elise, who was not in this version of events abducted by Altina at the start, insists she has a responsibility to Princess Alfin.
I'm not really surprised. Honestly, what surprises me is the first game getting away with a Teen rating in light of Crow's notes on the festival costumes. Not to mention his (and Angelica's) double entendres on spotting treasure chests.
Ya well it was during her bonding events one where she astral projects herself into him to remove the curse and a second time where she does the same thing but into his mind and both of them are nude
That's an open question. Really, they're young enough (Rean is twenty-one at the end, if memory serves) that they don't all need to be paired up over the course of the story.
Patrick irritates me, but he's not the worst. Most annoying Thors student IMO is Clara from the Art Club. Speaking of Patrick, the reason I had the impromptu match between Class I and VII so one-sided in VII's favor is I don't find it believable that it would be an even fight. First, Class I is too specialized, all of the reps using rapiers, as opposed to Rean's sword, Gaius's spear, Elliot's staff, and Machias's shotgun. Second, all of Class VII by then have actual combat experience, which Class I lacks.
Jusis snapping at a noble in Bareahard rings a bell. Denouement of the Dryad's Tear quest in the first game, if memory serves.
I cheesed that battle and not only that I'm pretty sure class 7 had prior training with their weapons before coming to thors rean trained with a master gasius probably trained before coming
Yes that was the noble jusis went off on its a no wonder jusis manages to do a better job as duke
Elliot explicitly had no training prior to enrolling at Thors (ironic, given who his father is). As for the others, in the player team for that fight Rean himself of course trained under Yun Ka-fai, Machias is hinted to have trained, and Gaius was already good enough with a spear to impress One-Eyed Zechs Vander. Of the rest of the class, Fie grew up as a jaeger, Emma is a powerful witch, Alisa learned from an Enforcer of Ouroboros, Jusis was taught by Rufus, and Laura is of course the heir to the Arseid school.
