    I love all of the relationships in this so much and you captured them so well—Jason and Reyna have been My Guys since I first started hoo and I never find them and the little bit where Reyna shows up and the back and forth about him being radio silent for a year… it’s so true im obsessed with them figuring each other out again post-hoo. Then with Thalia and Jason and the sibling-y fighting they fall into (like yes!!!) and Thalia and Reyna and them having both the safe zone of screwing around together and her being the one Reyna brings up the “I killed my dad” to. Love that.

    (I do kind of think Thalia is at least like… one of the first people Reyna tells about all that if not the first after Nico. Because the Hunters occupy such a liminal space that Thalia has none of the Roman obligation to prosecute her that Reyna sees and also because Thalia is someone who just. Gets it. About your mortal parent being shattered by the divine and hurting you because of that)

    And Jack!!! Hotch repeatedly like “no please do not replicate this behavior” is so good and I absolutely love the line how he “topples cities with Hot Wheels on the rug” it’s such gorgeous use of words. And Leo and the team being integrated into their social unit… yeah. Yeah.

     

    I love the way that Hotch doesn’t approach Reyna like a case but it’s just… very clearly that background is shaping how he thinks about her? Like you found a specific voice for him I really like a lot. And the way that there’s never a moment where he’s scared of, just consistently for her—it’s so very Hotch and it makes this just feel so gentle and sad and I love it, and the thread of survival as it becomes Hotch’s we’ve all been there… fuck. Yeah

    This fic is such an utter delight and I cannot find the words for how it makes me feel that you took my silly little headcanon and wrote this about it so I reiterate: !!!!!

      jeyna is just So.. like they are just so..their friendship means everything to me, dude. like, during mark of athena where reyna and jason get to see each other again right after the percabeth judoflip...that was my roman empire, it was just so, so, good. also, the little bit where reyna and jason have that back and forth about his disappearance was such a fun piece to write! reyna and jason's dynamic is incredibly nuanced and i think they deserve to have their silly banter every now and then.

      thalia and jason and their sibling bickering!!! ever since taking them in, hotch was more than grateful jack had stayed an only child because those two are relentless. the choice for reyna to be the one she goes to for her worries on hotch and her background was actually scrapped by me at first, but then i thought about how reyna like, as a character, would want to open up to somebody she feels comfortable with already especially in an environment where essentially she's being exposed to something that she (believes) could potentially harm her/cause trouble.

      jack!! i love jack!!! i think he's just this very cool kid who wants to grow up to be exactly like jason, but also have thalia's mannerisms and it gives hotch an intense amount of headaches each day jack proclaims this future. leo! and the team!! ugh this au means everything to me <3

      more on the hotch perspective, i've actually never written in hotch's pov before, so i was going into this blind. i'm incredibly delighted that you liked how i portrayed him!!! due to the nature of how he's met most of the demigod teens; he doesn't want to approach them as case files or victims, but it's more or less as you said background shaping. like, he grounds the people he knows by what he can gather from their pasts since that's just how his job as inclined him to think, and inherently there's nothing bad about it but it does give way to a more unique way of how he views reyna (esp. as an outsider to demigods alike) it's Like. there's this part of reyna that constantly is anxious about what would happen if any of the federal agents found out about her past, and then here comes hotch who just knows everything about her and it's supposed to rip her raw but instead he does none of that, and is just strikingly understanding with her while acknowledging what she'd been through.

      (p.s. glad u noticed the connections between the survival line and the 'we've all been there' from hotch. i just think its a very neat detail lmfao)
