I’m glad you like (or at least, are intrigued by) it! And I have heard of Poppy Playtime! It’s a little too dark for me (I struggle with horror games) but I’m able to watch YouTubers play it on good days! Why do you ask?

Well, that would be a bit of a problem because I have no story writing skills whatsoever. I can lay the groundwork for a story but that's as far as I'm able to go. That's why I lost my ideas out there hoping someone would be inspired to use them. -Now this story would take place roughly a year after the events of Psychonauts 2. Junior agent Razputin Aquato and the rest of the Junior agents (the interns from Psychonauts 2) are sent to investigate abandoned Playtime Co factory for suspected supernatural activity. once inside they suddenly become trapped in the building and for some reason their psychic abilities are weakened. after finding some spare GrabPacks they try to find a way out of the old factory while discovering some dark secrets about Playtime Co. They also discover living toys that reside in the factory. Some that are dangerous like Huggy Wuggy, Mommy LongLegs, Boxy Boo, Miss Delight and CatNap. However other toys are more friendly and try to help them. Toys like Poppy, Boogie Bot, Cat-Bee, Candy Cat, DogDay, CraftyCorn and Kissy Missy. Together the junior Psychonaut agents will have to use their training and skills to escape Playtime Co and free the toys from the Clutches of the Evil Prototype. - What I might find interesting is what would happen if Razputin used a Psy-Portal on one of the PlayTime toys? It was implied multiple times that many of the toys were once human and were transformed into toys and slowly went insane. So, if Raz entered the mind of let's say Huggy Wuggy or Mommy LongLegs would he be able to restore their human memories? or would they just have their humanity restored and become less violent and maybe even help the kids? Because this would probably be Raz's biggest challenge since stopping Maligula. So, what do you think? P.S. For more info you can check out the link to my Tumblr account below. Ooh, that is definitely a fun concept! I’m not sure I’d be the best person to write it (not only would I not be the best for a more horror story, but I also like to do thorough research and I don’t think I could do that with Poppy Playtime) but I do have several questions to at least more develop the idea if you’d like: 1: why is it just the junior agents? Is there some reason they wouldn’t send at least one full agent with them? Or a pair such as Sasha and Milla with a few of the junior agents? 2: We know the toys once were children, and while some of them have definitely become more monstrous, would some of the others (or possibly even some of the monstrous ones in a rare moment of clarity) possibly be more friendly to them since they’re kids? And if so, would the older ones be treated with more hostility than Raz or even Sam? 3: their powers are weaker, but how much? We know Raz’s mind (and likely his powers too) are stronger than the average person’s, so would he still be able to use most psychic abilities while the others would be limited to ones they excelled in? Would all of them be able to enter minds still, or would it be more limited? Would they have to be far closer to their target than normal? 4: Speaking of their powers, why are they weaker? We know it once was an orphanage, so are the walls built to be a gpc due to some of the kids being psychic? Is there psilerium in the walls? A bit of both? 5: This isn’t a question, but I can also recommend this template for mind builds in case you want to build minds for any of the toys: Specific host (eg. ‘Actress’ for Gloria): Mental condition (anything from anger issues to PTSD and/or Schitzophrenia): Base setting (eg. ‘Suburbs’ for Boyd the Milkman): Aesthetic Twist (eg. The meat in the Meat Circus): ‘Gameplay’ twist (eg. The growing/shrinking in Fred’s mind): Inhabitants (eg. Lungfish citizens in Lungfishopolis): Self Representation (eg. El Odio in Edgar’s mind): Memory Vaults (how many (typically 2), what of, what area of mind): Further details:
I’ve used the guide in #5 for this au and a few others, it’s really helpful if you’re wanting to build a mind for a character that isn’t seen in game (Like, you don’t see the other campers’ minds in the first game. Or you could do what Ford’s mind looked like before it was shattered.) Even if the mind isn’t explored, it’s a great way to explore the character.
that's understandable, though honestly, I never thought Poppy Playtime was that scary. maybe a few jump scares and emotional moments, but nothing to harrowing. that said I'll try to answer most of your questions.
1.) they would have a chaperone, but they would be more like a chauffeur for the junior agents. The senior agents thought this mission would be an easy one for the junior agents. Like going to a haunted house and expecting it to be a hoax and not actually be haunted. Kind of like what happens in the first Psychonauts game, they think what's happening in camp is no big deal (coach's brain stealing plan) only to discover too late that it is a big deal. Things basically escalate really fast
2.) As for how the toys treat the agents. Eh, that's about 50/50 in my opinion. Mommy might give the younger one's special treatment, but most of the toys there are either feral or desperate due to being trapped underground with little food. the agents might be able to snap some of them out of it like Bunzo, Huggy Wuggy, and maybe Mommy Long Legs, but for ones like Miss Delight? not so much, even though I like Miss Delight. though the thought of Sam taming Yarnaby would be cool to see.
3. and 4.) Well, I created a Psychic boogie Bot OC, so the scientist would then develop countermeasures for any future psychic children they come across. maybe line the walls with just enough psilirium to inhibit their powers. thus, turning the whole factory into a giant GPC. Because of this the agents' powers are limited to things like double jumps, Psi-punch, Clairvoyance, and a bit of levitation. like they're right back to Level 1 of their psychic training. because of this they are forced to use the Grabpacks for most of their journey.
5.) those ideas are actually kinda cool, I'll consider it. Doey's mind would definitely be like Ford's since they are technically three minds in one body. And Yarnaby would definitely be a Mental conditioning mind, and the agents would try to break the doctor's control of him.
