Good catch! You're completely correct. For my interpretation, I have it that Snow spent an unspecified amount of time alone, doing nothing but sleep, walk to work, and monitor the email servers. He didn't have the chance to develop most of the natural Addison skills. This point in the timeline puts it at... About a few months after he was 'discovered' by his brother, if memory serves. The person on the phone won't appear for a while yet, but it is still too 'early' for him.
He would have been a happy little email guy if he'd been left alone ;A; He genuinely likes what he does, but it's seen as worthless by many Addisons because you can't profit off something that's free to use.
