In an alternate, slightly-diverged retelling of the story, Wei Wuxian retains his hold on the Burial Mounds and becomes the official grandmaster of Yiling Wei. He is supported behind the scenes by Gusu-Lan, Yunmeng-Jiang and eventually Lanling-Jin, after Jin Zixuan picks up the reins.

Wei Ying:
Wishing you safety. My esteemed brother, Xichen, will be getting married soon. We will be having a ceremony in the Cloud Recesses, and Wangji will personally escort Ying there in half a month's time should he decide to go.
Lan Wangji
Zewu-Jun gets married to Lianfang-zun. He's extremely happy and is having the time of his life. When he asks Lan Wangji about his feelings for Wei Wuxian, he finds out that Lan Wangji has his doubts.

5 -The Rabbits Have Multiplied
Now thirteen, Wen Yuan is old enough to study in the Cloud Recesses. He stays there in boarding and returns to Yiling every four months.
Lan Wangji invites Wei Wuxian to visit the Cloud Recesses to look at the rabbits. Meanwhile, Wen Yuan and Lan Jingyi get up to mischief in Caiyi Town. They're joined by Ouyang Zizhen, a new friend.

Summary
Lan Wangji starts visiting Wei Wuxian and Wen Yuan in the Burial Mounds, upping the frequency of his visits from once a month to twice a month, to once a week before he turns up with a surprise guest for A-Yuan.
