Aldon’s hand pressed there, possessive. “You’ve always been remarkable,” he breathes, hot and sweet, against the curve of Leonid’s ear.
The next moment, everything changes.

Hardly the sort of life he’d imagined for himself.Leonid Trevelyan, devotee of the Inquisition and its tavern in particular, hates the Hinterlands. He doesn't hate the Herald, but he's not impressed at being sent to shoot things when he could be attending to grander matters. Instead, he has a shit day -- but at least the company's not half-bad.

Leonid’s throat is tight, the cold air aching in his lungs as he hauls in deep breaths. Frantic, almost, as though he’s not in the small practice yard, as if he’s not in Skyhold but back at Haven. In that desperate, ugly moment when he was certain –
All of them, dead. Slipped right between his fingers while the world fell to ruin. He had rained down arrows on their assailants, had known it to be futile. All of them, surely dead.
Haven leaves its marks, and Skyhold offers a cold comfort.

Summary
There's a cave on the Storm Coast that poses a problem -- and if the entire vile coast wasn't made wretched enough by the darkspawn and the demons and the bears, there's the fretting to consider, the bright thing that lives inside his chest and that he would happily see excised.
In short, Leonid offends some soldiers, fights some darkspawn, finds himself transfixed by Basten's new armour ("it's traditional," he insists but surely there is nothing traditional about being scantily clad and half-wrapped in ropes). He also feels a thing or two, though he would rather not.
