Every few generations, twenty children from around the world undergo a Change in their bodies and minds, and come out of it gods- if they survive, for the Change is often fatal, and if one dies, the rest soon follow. Not a single generation has lasted more than a year.
It will require not only unheard-of strength, but a world where humanity is connected like never before and superstition nurses its wounds. It will require each of the Changed to love and be loved strongly enough to survive, if the new generation is to succeed when all before them have failed.
