Summary
Kurosaki Masaki was raised to be kind and open-minded. She wasn't raised to be harmless however. Out of the necessity for the last remnants of a nearly extinct race, she's burdened with the Quincy Arts, named a prodigy even if it wasn't a born talent. Out of necessity for human survival in an endless war against demons, she takes it upon herself to become a pillar of strength in a dying, but still fighting organization.
She may be born as Kurosaki, but she was always every bit of Kochō as any other member. Unsurprisingly, this passed on to her own children. For better or for worse.
Kurosaki Ichigo was raised to be kind, open-minded, and observant. He wasn't raised to be unknowledgeable however. Out of sheer necessity for a war he was never a part of, he is burdened with journals filled with information, just in case. Out of necessity to impossibly end a bloody crusade, he takes to the whispered lessons and training in the dead of night like a fish to water, becoming a child soldier before even learning about Shinigami.
He may be born as Kurosaki with Shiba blood, but he is even more Kochō than his own mother. Unsurprisingly, this changes things. For better or for worse.

Summary
Kurosaki Ichigo grew up slightly different than most children. With stories of demons, samurai, and a dying culture of shinobi, and odd little games between her and her mother, Ichigo had an... active childhood. Then, her mother dies, killed in front of her, and many things change.
One: her family had actually been a shinobi clan once upon a time. Of course, she doesn't really believe it; some weirdo 17 year old with three wives came up to her to tell her this during her mother's funeral.
Two: demons do exist. She does believe the weirdo when he tells her this. She's seen one before. And while her mother wasn't killed by a demon that the weirdo fights, it was still a monster and something she's determined to kill.
Three: she's about to annoy the ever loving shit out of these Shinigami and this Soul Society. This actually comes much, much later when she discovers that these beings and their Soul Society actually exists. But, it's still a change nonetheless.
Being the Tsuguko of the Sound Hashira, Uzui Tengen, would be a flamboyant beginning for a normal person. For Kurosaki Ichigo, it's explosive. And she fucking loves it.

Summary
Death followed Ichigo with a near obsessive persistence. Though, she was partially at fault for about six years of her life. She chose to become a demon slayer after all. But, death still persisted to be her curse.
Her mother died and she lost her father to grief. She met Nēsan and found love in her and her family... until her parents were killed by demons right in front of them. They were saved by Himejima-san before they could be killed and their paths were set in stone. They became demon slayers, Ichigo taking a new name and becoming Kochō Shinobu to protect her own family.
Things looked better, until Kanae is killed by that fucking demon. Ichigo swears revenge and takes on the duties of the Head of the Butterfly Estate as well as Insect Hashira. Every one of her Tsuguko except for Kanao had been killed, the families of her girls, and every demon slayer she failed to save from their injuries.
She was furious. And then the battle against Kibutsuji Muzan and his Demon Moons. She was determined to kill the bastard who killed Nēsan. Even if she killed herself in the process. Yet, she survives the impossible and now, everything is over. They won.
Unfortunately, her job isn't done just yet.
